I almost did not buy the Cotton Carrier 522 Pro-2294 Cary-Lite because one reviewer gave the system a two star rating. After further investigation I realized that he is not even talking about the above "Cary Lite." It does not fit around your chest as he complained. It is a belt that goes around your hip. The belt holds the camera restrain/release system. It has a shoulder strap to take some of the weight of your camera off your hip. I have found that that shoulder strap is unnecessary, however. I have a Nikon d7000 with a 55-300 lens inserted in the Cotton "holster" and it rides nicely. The lens does not bounce against your leg. The camera is secure and the quick release system permits you to draw the camera just as you would a revolver. When in the "holster" as I call it, the camera cannot come out unless you want it to by rotating the camera 90 degrees while drawing. Neither the camera or the lens hits your leg and as I said, does not bounce. I use it for hiking. I can get the camera off my hip and take a photo as fast as you could draw a revolver. Although I use the "holster" analogy the system does not surround your camera. Go to the Cotton web site. They have several videos that show how it works. It is clearly the best restraint system I have ever seen. It is also the most convenient retrieval system I have ever had. Now I said the shoulder strap is not necessary to relieve the weight on your hip. However, it serves another function. It has a teather that you can attach to one of the rings of your camera. So, if you are changing a lens or get bumped the teather prevents your camera from falling to the ground while you have it out of the "holster" and are working with the camera. I am so impressed with this system that this is the first product review I have written for a product purchased from Amazon even though I have sent thousands of dollars buying products through this source

Wears great around shoulder and body, must take precaution to adapter that screws onto camera, has tendency to loosen while moving and removing trough swivel. you do not want to over tighten on camera.

The Cotton Carrier was a little difficult to figure out, but if you're carrying a serious digital camera this thing is fantastic.

I actually carried my Canon 5D Mark II on it through Boulder Caves and the Lost River Gorge in New Hampshire, and there was no stress on my neck or shoulders.

It takes all of the weight off of the back of your neck and hangs it on your hips, and you don't even feel it. It's amazing.

I purchased this carrier from Amazon after reading the reviews and I was a little hesitant to purchase because I couldn't see how it would hold a camera around your chest. Well it does not, the camera bounces on your stomach and there is no way to raise it any higher. I should have figured this out before I purchased this product.

This carrier sounded good in the reviews, but it is worthless with any pro type camera. Even the DSLR's hang like dead weight on your stomach. It is impossible to raise the camera any higher. I would advise buying the most expensive model that has the chest attachment and two straps that go over your shoulders. This lets the camera hang from your chest where it is very assesable. This lighter model might be OK for a Nikon D-40 or any other lighter weight camera. Don't think I will get any use from this purchase. Will have to hand out another $150 for the top of the line model and put this one up for sale on ebay, just to get rid of it.

The reviews I read for this unit were not very specific on the type of camera it would carry, but I was of the impression since it is labled "Pro", that is would carry a pro type camera. It is very uncomfortable with a heavy camera attached.
