Review of Tenba Black Label Photo Satchel Small
One of the more attractive and durable camera bags I've ever owned in the 40 years I've lugging them around. I bought the Tenba Black Label Small Satchel because it just meets the maximum size restriction for camera bags by museums in our area the allow photography, like the St. Louis Art Museum and the Nelson-Atkins in Kansas City, MO. I've been able to cram into this small bag a Nikon D700 with a 24-85mm f/2.8-f/4.0 mounted, Nikon 180mm f2.8, Micro-Nikkor 105mm f2.8 and 50mm f1.4 plus cable release, two spare batteries, Columbus GPS, flashlight, lens cleaning kit, pencils, filters and more. It will not hold a camera with a longer lens, like the 180mm, attached or a full sized pro camera, like the D3. After two years and many trips, the bag looks like new.I have been using this bag for two weeks now.It is, no doubt, built to last a lifetime. Top notch materials and hardware, which is one of the problems. The two large snap closures for the flap are so heavy duty that they are very difficult to close, but most especially to open. My wife can't do it at all. There is no zipper on top which was a selling point to me as I did not want to risk scratching my camera when getting it out.So you are dependent on those two huge snap locks and they are wearing me out. Also the shoulder strap is made of seat belt material.good.However, the shoulder pad is so overdone that the pad will not conform to my shoulder and sits flat on my shoulder, not bending. This is a small bag and you cannot get enough weight in it to justify this kind of pad. Also when you set the bag down somewhere, the shoulder strap is very unwieldy.I am going to replace the strap with a better one but I can't do anything about the closures. This is at the top of the line for cost for a bag of this size.I woudn't buy it again.
