It fits the camera nicely (I use it for a D7000 with a 28-105 3.5-5.6 VR ED lens), and is the right size and weight for what I wanted-something quite light with little bulk, to protect the camera when I carry it in a backpack. I like the material as well. However, there is a design feature that mystifies me. The case doesn't have a strap, and relies on the camera's strap that runs up from two little slots on the top front of the case. That is fine in concept. The wierd thing is the strap slots are on the wrong side of the case-for it to hang normally, say around your shoulder, the case will be facing the wrong way. The wrong way from the standpoint of how it looks, how the case sits against your body, and for opening the case. If you turn it around and carry it with the straps closer to your body, as would be normal, it dangles wierdly. Look at the picture-you can see the slots and visualize the problem.

I bought this case because I was traveling out of the USA and wanted to bring just 1 lens (my Nikor 28-300MM zoon) and not carry a huge bag.

This was the perfect decision/choice. It is light weight, strong, and can take subtle impacts without causing any concern about the camera. Certainly not a re-enforced armor bag, but good enough for "around the neck" travel and every-day shooting.

If you travel with just one lens and want something other than a naked camera to be exposed (particularly going through airport security) but don't want to carry that extra camera bag, this is a great choice.

Even of you already own a bag, get this one too, and you'll be happy to protect your D7000 or other nikon.

I had purchased one of these for my old Nikon D80 and loved it. I've since given the D80, and the soft case, to my daughter. A few months ago I bought a D7000 as a smaller travel camera and needed something to protect it during walkabouts. This does the job nicely. The D7000 with my 18-200mm lens, including the lens hood fits snugly in e case. Sure, there's no attachment at the bottom of the case like I had on my older film cameras, but that's no big deal. Most photographers I know use a neck strap. There's a provision on this case to capture the neck strap at the left side of the camera, away from the shutter and command dials. When you need to shoot, simply unsnap the case at the top, swing it away from the camera, and it just hangs there, out of the way. No, there are no little pockets to store stuff in. It's not designed for that. If you want additional storage, go buy a camera bag. Those that rate this with 1 or 2 stars simply didn't understand what they wanted in the first place (IMHO). I am a semi-professional photographer and I'd recommend this for anyone needing something to just protect the camera for leisure walks or an evening out.

Honest reviews on Nikon CF-DC-3 Semi-soft Case for Nikon D7000 Digital SLR Camera

I wanted a camera case for my Nikon D7000 with 18-200 lens. I settled on the Nikon CF-DC-3. When the item arrived from Amazon, my first reaction was, "I paid $46 for this!?!" I have to say it is nice, but I expected more for the money. It's made nice but the material is thinner (a light fabric with no padding) than I would have liked and will only just protect your camera and lens from getting scratches, nothing more. The camera with the 18-200 lens attached fits perfectly in the case. I paid $46.32 for this, if it would have been no more than $29, then I would have given it 5 stars for what it is. I will keep the case, but if I would have seen it in a store and felt it, it's a toss-up if I would have purchased it or not.

For days where I just want to carry the camera, it's perfect. Fits my Nikon D7000 with the 18-105 kit lens like a glove, and would probably work with a lens up to 1/2 inch longer. Obviously no room for accessories, but that's not the point of this case I have other cases for those days.
