Great item, bought it for my wife who is a professional photographer. It is of superb quality and design. My only complaint is that it says waist sizes 32 to 53 but it is so short that anyone that wears Large or XL clothes will not be able to use it as it is extremely short length.

This is a product I've gone back and forth on. Loved it, hated it. I had an issue there a pocket pulled away from the seal because of bad stitching. This was supposed to be the pocket for your wallet or other valuables. On it's website, Lowepro has this warranty procedure that requires inspection of the product before it can be returned. I purchased this from a third party seller, and they would not do an inspection. I contacted Lowepro and did not hear back. Emailed again, and heard back immediately the customer service rep stated they did not receive the first email. From the events that followed, I can believe it. I simply had to send them a photo of the damage and a new vest arrived two days later, Fedex. So I have a new vest, and my original vest (fine except for the torn pocket.)

During this procedure, I also found that the sizing information on the product is a little misleading. I wear a L/XL in everything. According to the vest specs, I wear a medium. That thing was tight. I was sent a Large as a replacement, and that's a much better fit.

The vest takes some adjusting and has plenty of places to do so. Sides, back, front. It's almost useless by itself this is a 2/3rds vest and REQUIRES the belt to complete it. The bottom stops just above your belly. Either of the Lowepro belts works. The deluxe model has a larger lumbar pad. I have both. I use the "medium duty" belt with this vest, but turned the side pads (with the d-rings and loops) upside down. The D-rings are used by the shoulder straps, not the vest. Switching these these upside-down puts the D-rings pointing down now I have a place to hang stuff, like a couple of small flashlights.

original review....

I basically have three different equipment configurations when I'm in the field Urban Exploration, Sports or commercial. When it's Urbex, I need to keen things compact, and have places to attach my flash lights, GPS, dust mask, etc. For sports, I need to keep two cameras handy and a bunch of accessories. Similar setup for commercial, but commercial shoots I have to add my panoramic head, fisheye, extra tripod head.

This combo of the belt and vest is fantastic. I was using the tech harness, but the belt kept shifting, and the harness chaffed the heck out or my neck. This vest wow. Yes, even though it is mostly mesh and vented, it is warmer. The belt is fantastic, and the vest has tons of places to attach everything I need and even has a removable I.D. pocket (press, etc.) Plus, to be honest, the vest looks better. I felt a little silly wearing the tech harness. Not so with the vest. Another big plus is the rolled/padded neck area.

As for sizing, I usually wear a L/XL in shirt and jackets. The S/M actually IS the correct size for me in THE BELT the vest is tight! I'd say the vest is a S/M is actual size, while the belt is a L/XL in actual size. My other complaint as with many Lowepro products, there are almost ZERO instructions. Just directions on sizing the vest. Nothing for attaching the belt, etc. Each time I use the vest, I find more pockets and features.

When you attach the belt correctly and adjust the shoulders, it should be snug, but not uncomfortably tight. First time on, it was pulling at weird angles I had the clips that attach the vest to the belt too far back on the belt. The belt was pulling the vest back and down. Took a couple of minor adjustments, and all was fine. Moved the clips about 3" forwards. Perfect fit.

I've used this belt system for a couple weeks now and I must say it is a great idea for event shooters. The product video shows a guy with the drop in cases mounted over his hips, but you can mount them further back to avoid that wide-body obstruction. I purchased this because I sometimes work locations without an assistant, where dropping a bag in a corner means you don't want it anymore and some will relieve you of it. This belt system lets me keep the important, location-specific gear on me and the rest of the kit can stay at base camp or in the car.

I'm considering a case to put it in that leaves everything on the belt, ready to pull out and go. That would make flying to locations a little simpler.

I haven't used the vest much as I found it fit awkwardly on me (I'm a skinny guy) and didn't offer much beyond a place to store CF cards and my phone. I'm keeping it to try during the winter when I'm wearing a bulkier layer. It would probably be more useful for controlling extra cables and such that cam-ops often have looped to their belt or held by the assist.

One note, the belt for 32"+ waists is actually more like 34"+ due to the minor slippage that occurs wear the buckle clips attach. I may try a stitch into the belt to keep the buckles from slipping as I jog around in my more active events. The vest runs large too.
