I love the Golla Salmiac G1018 camera case. It is sized perfectly to hold my Fuji X20 camera, Ultra Pod II mini tripod, spare battery, microfiber towel, and quart-size Ziploc bag (for rain protection). The battery charger can also squeeze in (alongside the tripod) when desired.
The case seems tailor made to hold these items, with no additional unwanted bulk. I also appreciate its streamlined style. There are no bulging external pockets or strange design elements to scream "camera bag" or "man-purse." It just looks like a discrete little black bag. Initially, I wasn't fond of the oversized logo printed on the front flap, but since most of the logo is black (like the rest of the case), it really doesn't stand out that much.
The case has a nice 1.5" wide nylon neck/shoulder strap sewn to either side. It offers ample length adjustment whether you want to sling it around your neck ("tourist style") or around your neck and one shoulder ("messenger bag style", which is my preference).
The case consists of three compartments:
1. The main compartment is nicely padded and measures approximately 5" long x 2.75" wide x 6.25" tall. The main compartment includes one padded divider that secures with two velcro tabs. This compartment is perfectly sized to hold my Fuji X20, my Ultra Pod II mini tripod, and the battery charger (which I only squeeze in if I'm traveling). The compartment is secured by closing the main flap; however, the top perimeter of the compartment also has a drawstring style closure if added retention is desired. I don't find it necessary, so on mine I folded the drawstring back over the edges of the main compartment to hold it out of the way.
2. There is a very slim envelope-style pocket on the front of the case. It measures approximately 5" long x 0.25" wide x 2.25" tall. It is perfectly sized to hold a folded up ziploc bag and microfiber cloth. It could also hold any other thin item, such as a lens filter or a spare SD card. This pocket has no dedicated flap, zipper, or velcro, but it's snug enough that the items stay put without shifting, and the main flap also closes over it. I like that there is no dedicated closure on the pocket itself because it makes it easier to grab my microfiber cloth or ziploc bag at a moment's notice if I need to clean my lens or protect my camera from an unexpected rain shower.
3. There is a slim zippered pocket on the back of the case. It measures approximately 4" long x 0.25" wide x 2.5" tall. Since it closes with a zipper, this is a good place to stow loose and/or valuable items, such as cash/change, spare SD cards, filters, spare batteries, etc. Only relatively flat items should be stowed here, not just because the pocket is so slim, but also because this side of the case rides against your body while carrying the case. I carry one spare NP-50 battery in mine, but there is plenty of room for more if desired.
Two of these compartments--the main compartment and the slim envelope-style pocket on the front--are covered by the main flap, which secures shut nicely with a tab of velcro. If you happen to be in an area where you're concerned about pick-pockets and thieves, there is also a heavy duty rubberized strap mounted on the side that threads through a buckle sewn to the flap to hold it down more securely. Once engaged (with velcro) there is no way to open the main flap without undoing the strap. Nice touch.
All in all, this is a great case for my Fuji X20 and the basic, lightweight items I like to carry on photo hikes or family vacations. I researched a LOT of other cases for weeks before finding this one. All of the others were either too large or too small, and most had odd design features that increased the bulk or hindered the convenience. This simple flip top case is perfectly sized, nicely padded, fairly discrete and lightweight, and also seems quite durable. I got mine for under $30 at a large retail store. Highly recommended!
