I have a Canon EF 75-300mm f/4-5.6 III lens that I bought this case for that is 2.8" in diameter, but it does not fit well in this case. With the insert in, the fit is very tight inside the case and the lens is hard to remove from it, but with the insert removed the lens has a lot of wiggle room inside the case.
That being said, the case is very well-designed and seems to be made really well, however, double check the dimensions of your lens because if it is around 3" in diameter, it will be too big for the insert and your lens will have a lot of room to move around in the case without it.
