Nikon's new 1-type lenses are so small that it makes sense to buy the bags the company offers for them. I found this one, which I assume follows the pattern for the series, to be more complicated than necessary. The bag closes with a Velcro flap, unlike most such lens bags, which have a drawstring. However, once you open the Velcro flap, there is an interior drawstring. In my opinion this just makes the bag more complicated than it needs to be. I find myself fumbling to open the bag and I must pay attention. If you change lenses often in the field, this will distract and frustrate you. On the other hand, the bag is well made, as you would expect from Nikon, and works well for storing your lens when not in the field.

Although this case is for preventing scratching and not for protection of impact, it is still a great case. I did discover that this model are for the rest of the lenses except for the Nikon 1 1 10-100mm PD Zoom Nikkor lens. With my lenses in these cases, my camera bag really looks nice.

I needed a casual cover for my camera lens, and this does exactly what I need it to do. I wanted to throw my lens into a purse and protect it from other objects, but I didn't plan on throwing my purse around, so I didn't need the bulk of a more protective lens case.
