Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program Pros:

Small bomb proof design

Nicely Built

Cons:

No belt loop (would make access easier)

Very little space

Awkward Access

Bottom Line:

I would avoid this bag. It is large for how much it holds. The one benefit to this is a lot of padding, but a bag half the size can still have ample padding and hold just as much if not more.

My Olympus EP-1 with the 14-42 attached barely fit in the bag, was difficult to put it and take it out, had no room for any extra accessories (except for a couple batteries). Forget adding a second lens like a short telephoto. You might be able to fit a small pancake prime in there in addition, but I wouldn't trust it to stay put when you open/close the case.

Looks good on paper, but poorly implemented. Unfortunately so, as I like the fit and finish of these Case Logic bags. I have another bag for small palm camcorder that actually fits my EP-1 a lot better.

The case is very good quality with sturdy zippers front and back. The front zipper

compartment holds a fair sized compact camera. You could easily put a Canon G12 in

it.

A friend has the compact Canon Powershot SD1200IS and the case swallows it. You could

easily use it for the Powershot with cords, charger, etc. with room left over.

So, I took it out and used it for a lens case doing some field work in RMNP (Rocky Mntn Natl Park)

and first put my Canon DSLR 17-40L lens in it. Worked like a champ and still had room in the back compartment

for batteries for the 7D/40D and memory cards if needed.

Then I stuffed my Canon DSLR 24-105L lens in it for laughs and it actually held it well. I liked it as a lens

case caddy, since when unzipped with the side pulled open the lens/camera tilts out with access right there.

This great case would be Very useful if it had a sturdy belt loop/velcro loop on the side for attachment.

I did find a way to "create" a belt attachment system with this case:

Buy a very high quality carabiner, meaning one that is rated for high weight (not a dollar one). I buy mine

at REI. Then clip the 'biner' to the clip strap on the side and to the handle strap. You can then loop a belt

behind the 'biner' and it holds the case fairly close to your body. I also used the biner to clip to my

utility belt this way and it doesn't flop all over the place. Makes it easier to unzip with one hand as well.

The bottom material for some reason does pick up fuzz off of other material. I'd rather had the sturdy

material used on the back for the bottom as well. Not a big thing. Material is nylon/

cordura sturdy typical photo gear material.

All in all a very lightweight and good product for compact camera or DSLR lens carrying or caddying.

I have spent hours searching for the right case for me, I've compared lots of products, and finally I've purchased this one. It fits my Olympus pl1 camera with the 14-42 lens attached and the 40-150 lens next to it. The back pocket is perfect for extra batteries, memory cards etc. Good material, good zippers, good strap. I was looking for one with a hammock system (like the Case Logic SLRC-201) but they are too big for my camera. This case isn't bulky but whatever is inside it is stored tight and secure. I would certainly recommend it for someone who has a PEN camera.

Honest reviews on Case Logic SLMC-202 Compact Systems Camera Medium Kit Bag (Black)

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program A lot of thought went into Case Logic's SLMC-202 bag. The medium size which was graciously shipped to me is a rare thing of quality in a world where most manufactured goods at this price are shoddily slapped together. The materials are rugged yet classy and the bits of CL's signature schoolbus yellow are fun accents on the outside and line the bag in various materials inside. And there seems to be a lot of careful consideration to those materials, the variety of which surprised me. The chunky nylon zippers are the type that will most likely not get stuck and have good heavy toggles. The shoulder strap has swiveling clasps which are a nice touch. The bag itself has a back portion and a front portion, both are roomy and are divided into compartments which are designed to hold just about anything a traveling photog would need, short of a tripod and flash paks. There are a few switch ups here too, 2 compartments in stretchy netting for lenses or memory cards, a rubberized stretchy pouch which is divided into two zippered compartments and a more roomy area behind that could hold a variety of goods.

I was impressed with the "bottom" of the bag. It is made from thick rubberized plastic which is the type you'd find on quality luggage. My only nit would be that it's not quite in the correct position per se, and for all the bag's attention to detail, this was one thing that, for me, seemed an illogical move. I doubt many would lay the bag down on it's side to open it and use it. As well, since the handle is positioned on top, so most would see the reverse end as the bottom. Yet there is no reinforced surface there. That said, this is a minor issue as I doubt many will be dragging this bag down the tarmac but will more likely be tossing it in a car seat.

I would absolutely recommend this bag for those who have expensive mid-sized cameras to protect, I think it will serve me well in my travels with not only my camera but a few other electronic devices as well. Good job, Case Logic!

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program I agree with most other reviewers about space and the intended use-compact cameras with separate lens storage. I,too, am a Case Logic fan. I think I have more than 15 Case Logic products, and they are the manufacturer of choice when it comes to carrying electronics.

With that being said, this is what this product can do for my cameras. I have a powershot SX101 which is a fixed lens SLR( or bridge camera) and the new powershot SX230a compact point and shoot. When I remove the foam divider in front, I can put the 101 in there with a thick neck strap, and nothing else. The back storage, which is narrow, fits my compact in an opening on top. The product page shows a Canon battery charger in that opening. I can also add a few SD cards, AA batteries for my 101 and the Canon charger for my other one. If I am traveling, this will work for me.

Most likely I will adapt this case and use mostly for day trips though, something that not everyone will do when finding out the product they bought does not fit their camera and accessories. If I take my compact, I can use the front for storing cell phone, wallet, keys and even some snacks. If I take my 101, then cell phone and wallet and keys go in back. This works for me, but I am adapting the case so it is not the ideal for most.

What I like the best about the case is that it has a hard back that goes flat against the body. The rest of the case is similar to most camera bags-padded ballistic. This gives the cameras maximum protection if the bag drops from any reasonable height. I also like that this back is flat as it is very comfortable wearing cross body. Wearing it this way makes it easier to access both sides. It is also a light weight bag although the strap is not the best for using over long periods. It is hooked on so it can be replaced.

All in all this bag works as a camera bag just not the one the manufacturer describes.
