It also has a shoulder strap and a belt strap so it has 2 points of support to feel comfortable.

This bag sounds really good on paper. Readily accessible pro-body camera with 80-200 attached with plenty of space for lenses and flash, 2 sliplock cases and a AW cover. When fully loaded, I managed to carry a D3 with 50mm 1.2, D300s with lens removed, an 80-200 2.8, 105mm 2.8, 85mm 1.8, 35mm 1.8, 11-16mm Tokina 2.8, SB-800 flash, SC-29 cable and another 50mm 1.4.
It is really too big to be comfortably used as a waist bag, you MUST use the supplied shoulder strap. It will also give your shoulder lots of abuse.
The all weather cover is unusable with the shoulder strap attached. And the bag will fall below your waist from the weight without the shoulder strap.
The sliplock cases provided are of horrible quality. If you do not put anything inside, the straps that hold them in place will crush them into wrinkled foam. And if you remove them from the bag, you are left with 2 ugly flaps that are too big to be hidden in the slots provided.
The top flap that provides access to all your gear is hard to open, your body and the shoulder strap gets in the way. This is good for security but goes against "easily accessible" toploader functions.
This bag is clumsy, and seems to be trying too hard to do what a $100 bag should be able to do.

I bought this bag for when I shoot events. After reading the specs and some other reviews I bought it. This bag fits more then I anticipated and is very comfortable. The inside has room for one camera attached to a 70-200mm 2.8 or an 100-400mm lens, as well as a wide angle lens, flash or 50mm. The two side lens bags say they can hold a 20-200mm 2.8 L lens, but when I tried to put my 70-200mm 2.8 L lens in there I found that I had to take the hood and the tripod color off the lens before it would fit very snugly into the case. The same thing happened when i tried to put my 24-70mm 2.8 L lens in the other side pocket. Granted I can put my wide angle lens and flash into the side pockets with no trouble. The other thing that needs to be changed is the zipper for the flap that opens the main compartment. The zipper is made fine but to open the bag you have to either take the bag off and open it on the ground or on a chair or you have to push the bag away from yourself in order to open the zipper with out your body being in the way. Other than that the bag preforms well and holds more then I originally thought. The straps are well made and fit well over a belt.Honest reviews on Lowepro Outback 300 AW Camera Backpack (Black)
Excellent camera backpack for the photographer who has a professional grade DSLR with a grip attached. The Outback has ample room for the camera body and a 70-200mm lens. You can easily access your camera, lenses and flash quickly while the backpack is harnessed around your waist or hip. The Outback 300 AW also has many slots for your sd cards and does not fall over when it is placed on a flat surfaceKeep in mind that it is large and bit bulky; nonetheless, it does provide adequate space for your gear.
