This is the first time I purchase a soft case for a camera. I was more used to fitted leather cases such as those that canon sells or used to sell (I dunno if they are still available) for their point and shoot's.
I think this case looks pretty nice for a rugged camera (I still think the leather fitted ones are more elegant). It's light, has nice padding and choice of "how you can wear it"... a carabiner and a belt loop, which is the feature I love most about this case. As I stated earlier, I used to always carry canon point and shoot cameras on my waist. A fitted leather cases that has a belt loop will allow you to pull out and store back your camera much like drawing a gun from its holster. One handed, easy access/operation. That's the negative when using a soft case... it's more time consuming to unzip (which generally means using both hands) and access your camera... same goes for putting it away. However, using the carabiner is pretty cool (except for accessing the camera). I like how, when using the carabiner, the camera will sit lower than your waist and if you are wearing a jacket or a regular sized backpack even and you chose to hang the camera toward the back of your waist, the camera won't be in the way. Also, going through airport security means you won't have to take your belt off in order to get the camera off your waist. The little storage compartment came in handy to transport a set of ear buds, extra battery and SD card. As for how much the padding will/would help in the event of dropping the camera... I guess if you knock it off a table top your camera should survive unscratched (Don't try this, for I am only guessing!!!)
If you are wondering how spacious this pouch/case is... I am using it with an Olympus TG-820 and it fits loose. It could carry a slightly bigger camera without a problem.
Hope this helps anyone who is considering purchasing this case.

I saw this case on Amazon and was wondering how my TG-2 would fit in it. I had read other reviews that used it with the TG-1. The TG-2 is slightly larger. I went to Walmart and saw the exact case there so I was able to try it out. My camera fits perfectly in it. When wearing on my belt, I can barely feel the camera and case. To my amazement Walmart sells this case for only $9. It is very seldom I find a Brick & mortar store to be cheaper than Amazon. I'm sure Amazon will correct the pricing soon.
