The pouch is slightly padded and seems durable. I've used it on the strap and on my belt.
There are several gratuitous features; the pouch would be better without them:
Nat Geo logo on flap
Brass ring on flap (not usable to release the velcro catch)
Huge strap rings and catches (smaller would be just fine)
Webbing that runs from ring to ring (you're not going to carry something heavy in this)
All that said, I couldn't find a better pouch for the two devices I carry. I use it every day and it works.

This small bag was great to hold my Sony RX 100 and iPhone on a trip to Disney World. My only concern was the water resistance of the material and the slight gap left by the flap. The belt loop looks secure with double Velcro but I only used the strap. There was room for an extra battery and memory card. 5 stars if it was more weather resistant.
