For the most part, this is a normal camera bag. It is comfortable to use for normal periods of time; if you completely load it up with gear, your shoulder will be soar after a hole day of traveling, but that is expected.
The stitches holding the velcro on the back pouch is starting to wear out only after a few weeks. (I took this bag on three campus visits and used this pouch to hold very full folders.)
The best features of this bag are the two side pouches that are conveniently water bottle size. I also like the bag because it has enough room to carry everything for a day trip: maps, a spare lens, two water bottles, a few filters, tissues, cellphone, iPod, etc. Without all of the extra stuff, I can very comfortably fit my Nikon D5000 with a lens on it, along with two other lenses in the main compartment. Each side pouch (the water bottle ones) can also hold an additional lens.
I was not very impressed with the included inserts. I can't figure out how to use camera one with my D5000 with an attached lens. I removed it and simply lay my camera down in the bag. I use the other inserts to create three sections in the main compartment: a big one for my camera and two smaller ones for lenses.
