After using this bag for over four months it has become my favorite shoulder bag. The main compartment is big and deep enough to hold long lenses or, with dividers, shorter lenses and things like clamps and slave flashes below. There are plenty of pockets in various sizes to hold anything from a full sized flash to a Large Giottos Rocket Air Blaster. (But not as airline carry-on; the bag is fine but for some reason TSA doesn't allow the Air Blaster... who knew?) And there are, of course, lots of pockets for pens, notepads, and other accessories I am likely to carry.

The material this thing is made of is remarkable. I think it's something they used to call "cloth". I'm being sarcastic but it is both soft and sturdy. The flap lies flat even with the Velcro completely silenced. (There is a movable flap that covers one side of the Velcro and allows you to adjust how tightly the cover is secured and how much noise it makes when you open it.) The strap, while not overly wide, is very well padded. I've carried the bag fully loaded for hours without it feeling uncomfortable.

The laptop pocket is nicely padded and can easily accommodate a tablet, netbook, or notebook computer. Once I even had to carry a tablet and netbook at the same time.

There are straps at either narrow end of the bag that work nicely with Think Tank accessories such as the Think Tank Lens Changer or any of the pouches that come with the Modular Component Set.

And best-for-last, it looks good; kind of Indiana Jones-y without looking the least bit beat up. Like I said up top, for its comfort, convenience, and looks this has become my favorite bag.

BTW, I feel that honest, effective reviews can take the place of first-hand experiences that are lacking in online shopping. I've always appreciated the help I've received from other reviewers and work hard to return the favor as best as I can. I hope you found this review helpful and if there was anything you thought was missing or unclear leave a comment and I'll do what I can to fix it.

I am using this shoulder bag for my Canon T3i, I intend to upgrade to another body in the upcoming months, so when i looked at this bag I ensure myself that it would handle a bigger body and it does.

Plenty of room for pretty much anything you want, from chargers, to your wallet, lens.

I am also using the compartment for the Asus Transformer Prime, it fits well and there is room to spare.

Plenty internal compartments.

It comes with "rain gear" in case you get caught in the elements.

Honest reviews on Think Tank Retrospective 7 - Inch Shoulder Bag (Black)

I was very hesitant when I saw this bag online. I was looking for a light-weight, medium size walk around bag that would not be too large for my 5'3" body frame. This bag can carry my Canon 60D with attached zoom lens, second zoom lens, speed lite flash, and still have room to squeeze in a light meter and small accessories. The bag is slim with a very comfortable padded strap that is easy on the shoulders. The bag's soft yet sturdy fabric allows it to wrap close to my body instead of protruding and getting in the way. Its plain style is good for men or women.

I wanted a light weight travel bag that would accommodate my Canon 5D with a 28-300 mm lens and a 50 mm f/1.4. Add in a spare battery, charger, extra compact flash cards, and some basic camera and lens cleaning items.

In addition to serving as an unobtrusive bag (mine is black) for street and travel photography, I wanted a bag I could conveniently carry on airplanes with space for a light rain jacket, my travel documents, sunglasses, a cap, and an iPad. I also wanted it to ride easily on top of a rolling suitcase, and have an easy to install rain cover, and, oh yes, be relatively pickpocket-proof!

Once I recovered from the initial sticker shock, I found that the Think Tank Retrospective 7 met all those needs. I recommend it highly for anyone with similar needs.
