UPDATE May 2011: Still very fond of this bag, it has held up well after almost 2 years of fairly frequent use as a walk-around bag. In addition to fitting the Nikon D90 with 18-200 quite well, it can also carry (not together with the D90, but individually!) a Nikon D7000 mounted with either the Nikon 16-85mm (lens hood in position) or 70-300mm (with lens hood reversed).

Just got this bag today, loaded it up, and here are my first impressions. To save you some reading, I like it and recommend it especially for the Nikon D90 with 18-200 Nikon lens.

Sometimes I want to carry minimal gear, which right now means the D90/18-200 combo. This setup fits nicely into this bag, WITH the lens shade in the normal position (you don't have to reverse the lens hood to fit the outfit into this bag). I also have a tripod plate permanently fastened to my camera, and it fits as well (Arca Swiss or Kirk Plate style). The strap (Nikon D90 strap) of the camera is collected over the back of the camera before I zip the lid/cover shut on this bag, and it all fits very nicely, just snug.

The bag is padded all the way around, the same way most Tamrac bags are, some kind of rubber pad enclosed in the surrounding material, and should protect the gear against most normal bumping or use.

I almost bought the next size smaller Tamrac bag (see ), which some users reported would also fit the D90 with the 18-200 lens, but I wanted to have a couple more, slightly larger pockets as this bag does.

I've bought several Tamrac bags over the years, and as before, construction, sewing and zippers look excellent, there is nothing "cheap" about it. I looked at similar bags of several brands for $10-$20. less (online only, no personal experience) but this one looked the best for my needs and I'm glad I got it (would have liked gray, but black is apparently the only color you can get).

The window pane mesh (where the batteries are shown spilling out in the stock photo) has velcro on it, so this pocket DOES seal shut. The other pockets in that front compartment are "open" but all these pockets are inside the main, front pouch when it is zipped shut. As shown in the photo, the 2 open pockets are each about big enough for a D90 battery; it sticks out about 3/4 inch, but OK. Or, each pocket is just big enough to contain 4 AA batteries in a plastic storage case.

I don't use the "memory/battery management" red flags you see in the photo, but they're not really in the way either.

The 2 side pockets are a little smaller than I'd hoped but I can cram a notebook, remote release, or extra batteries in them. Each is about 3.5 x 5.5 inches in size.

One good feature is that when the top lid is fastened with the buckle only (and not zipped shut) the camera can NOT fall out because of the flaps hanging over the sides and front. In other words, you do not have to zip the bag shut in order to secure the camera (I'll still zip the top lid when conditions permit, but it'll be handy at times to just have the buckle clasped).

There is a zippered compartment on the inside of the padded top lid, which is advertised as a place to put lens tissue. It is large enough that I stuck my small SD card wallet in there (4 SD cards), and also a small instruction manual for a remote control device I have. The pocket is about 3.5 x 6 inches in size, larger than you might guess, but only a thin layer of material separates it from the back of your camera when the lid/top is closed. Tamrac thoughtfully made a flap covering the zipper of this little pocket, so the zipper there will not scratch the back of your camera. Anyway, I found this pocket an unexpected bonus where I could cram some more stuff.

This bag has belt loops on the back, but will be heavy enough that this may not work well on a basic pants belt. There is a shoulder strap provided; it's pretty basic but is easy to unclip if you want it out of the way, or you can sling it over your shoulder. There's no padding in the strap, but it does have that grippy rubber lining to keep it from slipping off your shoulder.

So here's what's in the bag right now:

Nikon D90 with 18-200 lens, with lens hood in position.

A remote control (includes a time lapse device, so its larger than a basic remote).

Another remote control (wireless, google wireless D90 remote)

A Solmeta GPS unit for the D90

One set of 4 AA batteries (for another GPS or my Nikon flash units, which are carried separately).

2 or 3 D90 batteries, could probably get 4 or 5 in there somewhere, if needed.

4 SD cards in a wallet

pen and 3x5 notebook

Business cards

And a little room left over, but your water bottle, tripod, and 500mm lens will have to go elsewhere!

I had an older Tamrac bag that was always a bit tight with my Canon 50D and 18-200 or 55-250 lens. I debated getting the next smaller bag that this one, but figured that a little extra room is always good, plus I have ordered the Canon 7D which is slightly larger per this page

It has no problem with the 50D and 18-200/55-250 and I'm able to zip it shut if I'm worried about the elements. However, I almost always just clip the buckle shut, so if I don't zip it, those lens with the lens hood attached will fit ... so you just unclip and start shooting nice!One small negative is that the bag is "noisy" i.e. all those zippers "clang" around a bit as you walk with it.

Update: I shot a baseball game this evening and you don't really even hear the zippers when outside.

I was looking for a bag for when I go hiking or wherever, when I just plan on taking along my walkaround lens. This bag fits the bill perfectly. I'm basing this fit on my Canon 50D and 24-70mm f/2.8 lens, which has a wider barrel than most lenses. Once the camera, lens and shoulder strap are all packed into the bag, there is only about a 1/2" of room. Nice snug fit and works perfectly. Room for my cell phone, keys and extra batteries, too. Bag is very well constructed.

I'd also like to add that I originally purchased the Tamrac 5684 / Zoom 4 bag. I returned it because I could barely zip it closed. It was a nice tight fit, but I just needed about an inch more room and that's exactly what this bag does. The 5684 would be perfect with this camera and the kits lens, but it didn't work for my needs.

I have gone through a lot of small camera bags trying to find just the right size and features for my needs. I had a smaller size of this same model that I used with my smaller Canon XTi and just barely with a 40d and a short lens, but when I got the Canon 7d I needed a bigger one. It took a lot of searching to find the same model but this one is it, and it works just fine. I think they got the number and arrangement of pockets and the zippers, latches and attachment rings just right on this one too. It currently holds my Canon 7d and 18-55 EF-S lens with hood, CF cards, lens cleaner and spare battery. It could handle a lens a little longer than that maybe the 24-105 lens, but not the larger zooms. I can clip it to my backpack straps to ride on my chest when the weather is more than I want my camera to be exposed to when hiking. My only complaintl is a trivial one: I wish I could have got it in gray instead of black because the black gets lost in the shadows of my car trunk or passenger side seat footwell where it often goes.

I have owned this case for approximately 3 years. It has been on numerous trips in the back of a Jeep on desert roads in Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, and especially Utah. I used two of these on my bike for rear panniers and they are great. Lockable, easily mountable, and highly visible for mobile use. I think these are great. They are a bit expensive. They are more secure than most panniers and they can be mounted to almost any rear rack with a few u-bolts available at any home depot. They are theft deterrent and I can mount a rear led light to it with velcro making it very easy to see. Easily drillable too.

This case seems very sturdy, with good latches. I ordered a second case of this type because of the quality. This will hold files such as tax forms. It is waterproof. The lips/flanges of this case seem much more durable than those on Pelican's "Storm" case series, which have a nicer latch mechanism. Overall I rate the Pelican 1430 case a 4.7 (out of 5.0).

THis bag is fairly large. It holds our Sony HXR NX70u Video camera and has lots of room for accessories. The bag has a structured side so it is easy to get things in and out . It is also very well padded. The structured sides do make it awkward to carry but it is a trade off for having a good sturdy bag. I only wish it had some side pockets. All things considered It is worth the money.

I have this bag in red. It does look a little cheap when scrutinizing closely. However, I find this bag is my favorite as it's perfect for taking a quick trip with your camera if you only need one lens. I don't like traveling with too many lenses because of all the extra weight on my shoulder. I had a photo backpack that was just plain awkward and impossible to adjust to a comfortable position, for someone like me who has experienced shoulder and back injuries. This little bag is practically weightless, even when filled with my camera and lens. I can fit both my cameras into this bag, so I just switch between the Pentax k10d with any (incl 55-200 lens), and my old Minolta XG-7 film camera. I can fit any spare batteries, spare chips, or 2 rolls of film into the small pocket in the back. There are little pockets that are just perfect to hold small things, like filters. I really like the inner pocket on the large section, as it holds my camera securely. This may be a cheap bag, but I like it a lot better than my more expensive bags. It is worth every penny and more!

I purchased this bag for myself as a smaller, cuter alternative to most camera bags. I wanted something that would fit my Nikon D3100, and maybe an additional lens. I read all the reviews I could find online and everyone cautioned about the smallness factor. I was concerned, but couldn't find a better alternative. I really liked the small size of the bag and the fact that I wouldn't need to carry around a huge camera bag, in addition to a purse. The Posey Bag would be both, and only the size of any normal purse. As soon as I received the Posey Bag, I realized my dreams of carrying an additional lens would not happen. I quickly recovered and moved on. Unfortunately, my biggest problem with the bag, is the flaps, which make the bag more "versatile." The flaps are constantly moving and opening, leaving my equipment vulnerable to anyone paying attention to my very open camera bag/purse. Or even vulnerable to falling out of the purse. I would recommend trying a different camera bag/purse combo, unless you are willing to deal with the cumbersome flaps.

Plenty of room and padding for my camera body, 2 small lenses and a removable flash. Love the extra pockets for cards and keys, etc. Its not a huge bag, but that is what i like about it. Nice to be able to carry a beautiful bag that can function as a camera bag and purse.

I bought the Kelly Moore Posey bag in teal because I wanted a camera bag that I could also use as a purse when not out shooting. First, I don't much care for the teal color. I belong to a photowalk group and use this bag which allows me to carry a small wallet and other essentials along with a Canon G10. I can easily pull it out of the bag while walking around and take some shots. In the side pocket there are slots for a ton of CF cards. I don't use these slots because I only have one card which is in the camera. I do like the extra pockets on the outside.

If I were to buy a small slr, I don't think it would fit very well in this bag and its bulk would make it hard to use the outside pockets. So this camera bag is a little pricey for carrying around a point and shoot camera.

Since I bought this camera bag, she has come out with a replacement, Posey 2.

The material is smooth but tough and feels good to the touch.

There is a large central storage pocket which is padded on all sides and can fit a larger SLR such as the Canon 5D Mark II with a 70-200 f2.8 lens attached and still has room for one extra lens and flash and your ipad.

There is a padded pouch (which is removable) which will fit a smaller dSLR like a Rebel XT or similar entry level SLR with lens attached and has a separate lens pocket. This pouch will NOT fit larger SLR bodies.

There are two water bottle holder pockets on the exterior which fit typical water bottles and are a bit tight with gatorade size bottles. There are little holes at the bottom of the water bottle pockets to let out liquids if you spill or have leaky bottles so it doesn't pool in the pockets (a nice touch).

There are plenty of exterior pockets and zippered pockets to hold battery chargers, memory cards, headphones, and lens caps.

There is an easy to reach external pocket to access your cell phone or lens cap.

The zippers are very sturdy and work smoothly.

The shoulder strap is padded and adjustable.

The bag is large enough that it doesn't look like a man purse.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program I bought a Case Logic backpack about 6 month ago that fit my 17" laptop and was really impressed with the quality of design, engineering and manufacture. Unfortunately, the Small Cross Body Bag, in my opinion, just doesn't live up to the same quality of design, and I'd never choose it as a walkabout bag. The quality of materials and construction are top notch, but what is missing is the functionality. The strap is set off-angle to allow the case to sit upright against your waist or hip when the strap is worn across your body. The main compartment has an off-angle zipper and contains a medium-small area that is not divided into sections. Instead, there is a separate gray bag that you put your camera into, along with a second small lens and a battery. This smaller bag sits loose inside the larger area, and there is a bit of room for other thin or narrow devices such as a paperback book, spare pair of socks, etc.. I don't like the fact that I have to zip open the case, then open the gray bag to get at my camera. This for me is a deal breaker.

A cross body bag should allow fast access to the camera so as not to miss those wonderful travel shots of opportunity when they suddenly present themselves. The Reflexion bag more or less guarantees that those shots will be lost as you fumble to open 2 cases to get at your camera. It would have been much better to build in a series of dividers that hold the camera, lenses and extras instead of this separate bag. You can choose to not use the gray bag, but then your DSLR isn't secured and can bump around against your other lenses or equipment. The case will fit even a large DSLR (my Canon EOS 5D Mk II fit) but may not work well with extra long zoom lenses. There's a slot on the inside of the main compartment that will fit an iPad.

On the outside of the case there is a large fabric flap of material that secures via 2 snap fasteners, which I found quite tight and difficult to open, and equally difficult to snap closed again. Once the flap is opened there's a zippered pocket where you can stash a few things. The flap is a lot of material that doesn't really provide much functionality, and I question the designer's choice on including it at all.

Based on my earlier experience with Case Logic, I was expecting to be delighted with this camera case. Yes, it should keep your camera safe when you tote it around, but the interior storage spaces are not well-designed for quick and easy access, and that flap of material is really pointless and offers little functionality. For $80 there are many other small cases that will protect your DSLR and fit a couple of lenses, batteries, digital cards that are much better designed.

Cons:

Design flaws:

1. the outer flap has a curved zipper pocket which is unusable if you use this as a camera bag. I could only unzip it a couple inches and barely get 2 fingers in.

2. the snaps on the outer flap were VERY difficult for me to close, I could not do so when wearing the bag, I had to put the bag on the counter and use force

3. The heavy duty zipper for the main compartment is long and the ends extend into the stretch pockets on the sides, so if you do put a water bottle in this portion will extend a few inches in front or in back of the water bottle.

4. Suggested use for side pockets was water bottle and umbrella both do fit nicely but the umbrella extends above the top of the bag which was awkward as it kept hitting my body.

5. my panasonic camera fit into the smaller camera bag, but there was absolutely no room for additional lens as shown in the picture. I could barely squeeze the flash in. My Panasonic is about 5.25" across the back, the camera bag was approx 7" across with the camera in it so you can see there is no room for additional lens. Your camera may be smaller. There is a smaller pocket in the camera 'pouch' for an extra battery.

6. As you know, once you begin filling up all the pockets provided, the pockets become less functional as space is used. For instance IF you used the flap pocket, it's difficult to fill the pocket space under the flap. IF you have your camera in the bag, only the slimmest items will fit into the pockets under the flap and the flap pocket is useless

I would use this bag for work, I felt it was more functional. It could be a purse/briefcase and is not oversized. The bag balances well across body and would be comfortable while waiting for train or bus. I felt the bag was secure, so it would be difficult to rip off your ipad or phone (as opposed to many bags I have seen which gape open) I found it less functional as a camera bag, I would use it only for short photography sessions when I wouldn't want to change lenses etc. I also have a cannon camera backpack, which I think is more functional when I'm planning to be out for most of the day, there's plenty of room for ipad, water, wallets etc.

Oddly, that bag when fully loaded including additional lens AND camera weighed 9 lbs..

Honest reviews on Case Logic FLXM-101 Reflexion DSLR with iPad Small Cross Body Bag

I see people complaining that this bag is too small. I find this odd, because it's called a "Small Cross Body Bag". Also, the dimensions, both inner and outer, are given in the description. And Case Logic makes a slightly larger version of this same bag, the FLXM-102.

While this bag is small, I find that it has plenty of space for its intended purpose.

I'm using this bag with my OM-D E-M1 and a Really Right Stuff base plate, mounted with the 4/3 14-54mm f/2.8-3.5 II attached using an MMF-3 adapter and its hood reversed. Also an adapted legacy Canon 50/1.4 with Bluecell screw-on hood in the smaller side division of the inner bag. The camera just slides in lens down and with the legacy lens, just fills padded inner bag.

Under the inner bag, at the bottom of the outer bag, is my FL-600R Flash laying flat in its bag.

Next to the inner camera bag on the left side, in its own cheap neoprene case, is my 4/3 50-200mm f/2.8-3.5 (non-SWD), which, while small for what it is, is NOT a small lens in absolute terms (it fills the whole height of the bag and about 1/4 of its width). Dropped into the bottom near the 50-200 is the FL-LM2 Flash that came with the E-M1.

On top of all of this, I can put my iPad in the padded side pocket, and cleaning supplies, media, a transfer cable, and extra batteries in other small pockets. I even have a small emergency table-top tripod stuffed in there.

The bag isn't the easiest to get closed with all of this stuff in it. The way Case Logic have made the zipper work, with the end tabs, has advantages and disadvantages. On the positive side, it makes the top of the bag open wide when you need it to, without adding to the bulk of the bag. The downside is that you have to use two hands on each side to close the zipper, one to hold the tab, and the other to close the zipper. If the bag is too full, you have to go back and forth between stuffing things back in the bag and moving the zipper.

That said, opening the bag IS quite easy. Just grab one zipper in each hand and zip outward, and the bag is totally open. Or, if you're doing it one-handed, just pull each zipper tab towards the outside. Because of the way the shoulder strap is attached, the bag stays upright, and you won't topple your gear out onto the ground.

Overall, I'm quite happy. I'm using every cubic millimeter of this bag, which means I'm carrying no more bulk than I need to. Once I get my 12-40mm f/2.8 Pro lens, which is smaller than the 14-54, I expect it will be a little less tight in there, which will help a touch, though it's really not a problem right now and well worth it for the compactness of the overall package.

I've been searching everywhere for the perfect camera bag for my OMD EM1. I didn't want something bulky but big enough to hold my camera and 3 lenses. I didn't have any issues with the zippers or snaps like some of the other reviewers. It wears like a hybrid sling and messenger.

Pro:

Perfect size for my setup. Em1 body. 12-40mm lens. Panaleica 25mm. And possibly a 75mm or 150mm prime later.

Rugged but sophisticated looking. I wanted something that's durable but classy enough that I can take anywhere. I bought the grey one and it seems like it matches my slacks.

Holds an iPad.

Room for other accessories. I have the kit flash. The FL300R flash. Two extra batteries. Extra memory card. Lenspen and lens cloth. Caps.

Can hold water bottle or small umbrella. I always end up carrying my gf's umbrella even though I don't ever use one myself.

Large opening that stays open! It's easy to take the camera in and out.

Seems water resistant and rubberized bottom protects from tears.

Cons

I don't really care for the removeable camera insert. I rather it was 3 adjustable sections on the inside. I found a work a round by folding down the sleeve/draw strings of the insert so that it's not in the way. The third lens will just be in its own separate pouch beside that.

On the inside of the camera insert is a little sleeve. I find that this gets in the way a bit when you're trying to put the camera in. Especially of you have a flower hood attached.

I wish the connecting buckles were metal instead of plastic.

Kind of heavy for its size but I guess that's the trade off for the materials used.

To conclude, the cons are just minor quibbles on an otherwise perfect camera bag. It's incredibly hard to find a good bag for mirrorless cameras that are not overized or too minimalist. I also don't want to be embarrass every time I go out with my camera. Before this I tried the Crumpler Sebang Outpost. Small was too small and large was too large. I'm glad this one was just right and cheaper too!

In search of a flexible travel bag for a Canon 500mm F4 with body attached, I compared the Lowe Lens Trekker 600 AW II and the Tamrac 5793 Super Telephoto Lens Pack as both bags have been rated highly by various reviewers. I particularly wanted a bag suitable for airline travel. As I soon realized, there are substantial differences between the two bags that I will highlight. Size: The Lowe is a BIG bag; the interior volume is almost 1.5X the interior volume of the Tamrac. The interior dimensions are 23.5x9x8 for a volume of about 1692 cu in. In comparison, the Tamrac inside is 20x8x7 for a volume of about 1120 cu in. The Lowe is 25 inches tall; the Tamrac is 22 inches tall. With the lens hood in the retracted position, the 500 mounted to both a 1.4X converter and the body fit quite nicely in the Tamrac with about an inch of extra room at the top, but not enough room inside or in exterior pockets for other lenses. In contrast the Lowe is cavernous. With the 500 plus body (no converter) inside, and an adjustable padded shelf in place above the body, there was 360 cu in remaining above the shelf enough for a 70-200 Canon F2.8 Mk II in a padded case. The only pocket on the outside of the Lowe (except for the rain cover pocket) is 10 inches tall and deep enough for a lens; a 24-105 Canon zoom fit easily. With the 500mm lens in the bag, there is a lot of space around the lens enough room for a sweatshirt or fleece if desired. It was even possible to put additional lenses around 500 albeit with minimal padding. Personally I wouldn't recommend it. Amazingly, the 500 mm lens with body mounted and lens hood in the extended position, also fits in this bag. Some comments about design features. The Tamrac has a lighter weight suspension that is still comfortable and sufficient given the bag volume. I found the hip pads to be rather small. The Lowe has a very substantial suspension system comparable to that on some mid-weight hiking packs easily enough to comfortably carry 40 lbs some distance. I am 6'1'' and found the back to ride a bit high on my body. Not perfect but OK. Both packs have sternum straps which will prevent the pack from slipping off your shoulders. The rear zipper on the Tamrac retracts to within 7 inches of the bottom of the pack, which made it quite easy to slide the lens into place. The zippers on the Lowe retract to within 12 inches of the bottom, which made it a little difficult to insert and remove my equipment. Zippers on the Lowe are robust; the Tamrac has a smaller gauge zipper but still sufficient. There are notable differences in side wall thickness. Using a caliper, I measured the side walls of the Lowe at 0.5 in; the Tamrac side walls are 1 in. thick! The top handle of the Lowe is ample, secure and adjustable. The top handle of the Tamrac is not adjustable and, disappointingly, was too small to insert my hand fully. The Lowe has 10 webbing loops on either side of the bag to which alpine quality carabiners could be attached and there are also two 2-inch D-rings on either side. The Tamrac has a single webbing loop attachment point. However, I would not use it to lift or haul the pack because it is on the zippered portion of pack. The Lowe has tripod attachment points on both side walls while the Tamrac has a single set of attachment points centered on the back wall of the pack. A pocket below the attachment points is designed to hold the base of one or more tripod legs thereby preventing slippage. The Tamrac is compatible with a range of branded modular pockets that can be attached to either side of the pack. Both packs come with rain covers. The Tamrac has two moderate sized external flat pockets that are suitable only for flat items, for example, they definitely will not accommodate a 1.4X converter. The Tamrac does have two additional mesh pockets that could hold short lenses but without much, or any, padding depending on the lens diameter. Both packs have numerous memory storage pockets inside the pack. Another substantial design difference is the cradle for securing the lens and body inside the pack. Tamrac uses an adjustable cradle pad to which the equipment is secured with a set of Velcro straps. Easy to use and secure. Lowe uses an adjustable cradle pad system. One half of the pad system is secured to the interior wall of the bag. Once the equipment is inserted into the bag it is secured against the back pad with another pad that fastens to the first pad with Velcro and is also secured to the back of the bag when the back flap is zipped shut. Although this cradle might provide a bit more cushioning and security than the Tamrac cradle pad, I found it a bit cumbersome to use because it is necessary to carefully match the small Velcro strips when the two pads come together to secure the equipment.

Both packs have their strengths. For my purposes, I favor the Tamrac because: 1) the size is matched well to the lens and body, 2) the zipper retracts to 7 inches, 3) the walls have thicker padding, 4) it is easy to quickly load and unload the equipment, and 5) it will fit easier in most overhead baggage compartments (although it might be a challenge on some regional jets) and in a pinch it could go under a seat. It was also evident that for hauling a greater volume of equipment or for trekking/expeditions, the Lowe has some great features and is a sturdy and worthy bag.

Haven't tried it in the field, but it's a great pack to secure the 500mm f4 while transporting. Have been using an oversized duffle bag with towels for padding, so this is quite an improvement. I don't think it'd be good for a 600mm, my 500 barely fits with the 1.4x on it. I will have to take the hood off to ensure the camera, extender and lens fit into the pack. It appears it will work for me. I will have to do a follow up review after taking it out in the field. sgs

Overall a decent product but note that the padded portion of the waistbelt stops many (5") inches from my hip pointers on my 38" waist. Not so good for long hikes if you've loaded the bag up. Amazingly it's the only one on the market that I could find that takes my 500mm + extenders + pro body + a few odds and ends. I bet Think Tank could do better...but they haven't.

This bag is custom fit to the Panasonic Lumix FZ200, and as long as you mount the lens hood in the reversed stowage position on the lens, the whole ensemble fits perfectly into the bag (despite other reviewers' misunderstandings). This is a great small camera case. For the price I expected junk--WRONG! This is a quality product and I was able to nicely fit my Panisonic GF6 into it along with a spare lens, a spare battery and the battery charger.

There is a long shoulder strap that comes with it and a couple of Velcro dividers that will allow you to create seperate compartments in the main section of the case.

I have been happy with this Panasonic case and expect it to last a long time.

This bag is perfect, love it! It has a great solid quality & I really like the fact that it doesn't have the Velcro strips running on the inside of the bag. Sometimes those strips seem to snag on your camera when pulling it in & out. Since the whole bag inside is like a soft felt, the dividers for your needs just cling to the material without the need for those Velcro strips. I purchased this at the last minute before an international trip and couldn't be happier. I was able to fit 3 bodies (5D Mark IIIs) 4 lenses, and a plethora of accessories without a problem. The bonus part was that I could place my 17in MacBook Pro in the front pouch along with my iPad it fit in beautifully. For travel purposes it's GREAT! Fits in the overhead and is relatively small compared to other carry-on's. When you're going through the airport it glides very smoothly and doesn't feel that bad on your back either (although it doesn't feel great when you're hiking a few miles with it). All in all, it's well worth the money.

I bought this case to protect my new S100 during vacation. It is a quality built stitched leather case with a soft felt-like interior. The camera attaches to the bottom half with the thumb screw mount and has two rings to attach a strap (included). The top half of the case attaches with three snaps so you can remove the top half for shooting pictures and still have the camera protected from the bottom and sides. The bump on the front of the case for the lens is longer than it needs to be so it does bulk up the package quite a bit from the relatively small bare camera. The top snaps off and on easily enough but if I were designing it I'd add some provision for a teather so it wouldn't get dropped while snapping a shot.

Another thing worth mentioning is the thumb screw threads, they were too long for my Canon S100 and bottomed out about one turn from being tight to the case. As a result, the camera did not sit tight in the bottom half of the case and rocked back and forth slightly. Most people might not even notice but we Engineers are particular about details like this. Fortunately for me the fix was easy, I just popped out the thumbscrew and machined off one thread in my lathe. I suppose it could be done with a file too but this is a easily fixed detail that the manufacturer might consider changing in the future.

In spite of the little screw length glitch I would still recommend this case for someone that is looking for a nice protective case for their camera. As a side note, I also bought the same case for my Canon G1X at the same time and that case did not have the screw length problem. If you're looking for a leather case I would not hesitate to buy this one again.
