I actually bought some other model of LowePro case (for my Casio Exilim EX-Z120) then realized the belt loop was different and immediate exchanged it for this one--so glad I did because this case is the best in every respect, and at this low price for such high quality it makes an excellent gift that's cheap without being cheaply made.

Seriously, the belt loop on this alone is worth the difference in price (which is negligible, especially when you consider what it's protecting). The difference here is that this loop opens and closes with velcro, and if you don't trust that completely there's a snap to make sure it stays in place as well. Most belt loops on cases are sewn closed or have a clip that might cause you to drop your very expensive camera while running around. You could seriously hang a full grown man from this loop and it wouldn't come open--first rate outdoor gear quality.

But that's not the only brilliant bit. When hanging the case from your neck, it's naturally that you would want to have the case open so you have ready access to your camera, but not so that it would fall out. So LowePro put nylon on both sides of the inside of the case to keep the camera from falling out even while the zippers are fully open. You can give it a good side to side shake--as would happen during a vigorous walk, and the camera will not fall out (most likely).

The clips for the adjustable neck strap are easy to attach and release from the case (or even replace with a more deluxe camera strap if you like), and there's a nifty pocket in front that's big enough to carry spare batteries, memory cards, money, and your various ID and bank cards with an inner mesh pocket for everything from spare batteries and memory to cards and money. I stuffed two media cables and a spare set of AA batteries in there along with all of the above and they fit just fine for a daytime outing or tour.

CON (only one minor one): You will want to rip or cut out the tags sewn into the inside of the case if you want it to be truly free of anything which might scratch a lens or casing--but this is no big deal.

BOTTOM LINE: Overall, they designed this case with the kinds of features and construction you would find on a larger pack made to carry much heavier loads and more volume, yet didn't overdesign it for its intended purpose. Obviously they field tested this thing and redesigned it as best they could to keep the camera in the case even when on the most active or careless of users, and yet maintained an attractive and functional design at an extremely reasonable price. This is not cheaply designed or made, just cheaply priced--a real bargain.

Appropriate for the business traveler, vacationer, outdoor fanatic, or even the fashion conscious.

If you own the Lumix ZS3 the Rexo 30 camera bag is not a good companion. It is too small for the camera, a tight fit in and a tight fit out. The velcro flap serves only the secondary slot for the backup battery so it is not something you can use to enclose the camera. With the camera in the bag you can close the zipper....almost. A struggle whenever you would want the camera since you will need to close the zipper if you want to avoid the possibility of it falling out (which might be ironic since it is pretty hard to extract). Get something bigger. Mine went back the same day. Not suitable and it would be good if Amazon were not suggesting the pairing.

I was looking for a compact bag for my Panasonic DMC-TZ3 and the camera fits perfectly if a bit snugly. You won't fit anything in the main compartment besides the camera but there's a small pouch on the outside for a spare battery and memory card. I haven't tested the bag in the wild yet but it seems well constructed and should provide good protection for the camera.

l bought this so that my wristlet, cell phone, and car keys would be protected while kayaking. Everything fits beautifully. I'll probably change out the carabineer for the wrist strap from an older Pelican case. Other than that, it's PERFECT.

I got this bag for day trips with my new Olympus Pen 4/3 camera. The camera with it's kit telephoto lens and shoulder strap fit snuggly inside the main compartment. On the front there is a pouch which nicely holds the "pancake lens" for the camera. Inside the top cover is a mesh ( see thru ) zippered pocket which is perfect for storing a couple of extra batteries and memory cards.

The top cover has a zippered closure plus the front flap on the top cover has the snap/latch which also covers the front zipper pocket for added safety. Overall, this is a great product and allows you to take stunning underwater photos (way better than a waterproof point and shoot) It does take some getting used to though, and it's main drawback (as has been noted by other reviewers) is , because of the unneccesary hard plastic casing over the lens area, the lack of the ability to move the zoom ring on the barrel of a standard SLR lens. This drawback in itself will affect sales. Dicapac should do two things. Keep this model for people who want to use it for large zoom lenses-where you can move the zoomand make another model which has a soft plastic casing over the lens area which would allow the zoom to be used on a smaller standard lens. I I sympathise with the guy who said he had a leak with hi product but I think this is very rare other wise there'd be lots of such stories on the internet (which there isn't. I did some research before buying this) But in general this is essential for ocean shots, swim shots, pool shots, rain shots, etc etc. A slightly flawed but excellent product, and it's a great price too

Just received item and have only given it "swimming pool" tests todate. Using it with a Canon EOS XTi

Upsides:

Excellent picture clarity

Reasonably water tight (see below)

Downsides:

Extremely difficult to manipulate the camera lense rings making manual focusing and zooming effectively impossible.

A bit bulkier than I would prefer although this is likely true of any dry bag.

Seems to have a chronic, extremely low level moisture seepage into the case no matter how carefully I seal it. Not a large problem however I am considering returning the case for another try. As with any of these cases, I would recommend not using it for anything more demanding than snorkeling -and then with caution.

Difficult to compose shots with viewfinder-only camera such as the XTi. Trying to see through the mask, the bag and small viewfinder is pushing it a bit. Can be done but pretty marginal.

All-in-all OK for the price but you may want to consider paying a bit more for a low end underwater camera. You get what you pay for.

Update:

Finally got the case out for ocean testing. Pretty much confirmed what I had already guessed. Bulkiness, difficulty in using the lens adjusting rings and poor vision through viewfinder-only camera make this product a poor purchase choice. Save your money and buy an underwater camera for snorkeling.

The finger pockets let you change the zoom on the lens, somewhat, but the bag can get in the way of the shot. I bought this camera case to do some photos when sailing. My Canon XTi fit very well in the case and controls were easily adjustable. Then I went to do a try and after one single use the lens protector was totally scratched and now it is impossible to use this device. The idea seems to be very good, but the reality is that this product is made from very poor quality materials. Given the fact that I live in an oversea country I did not reclaimed but my recommendation is DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY buying this product.

Nothing but a padded hole. No storage, no pockets. The "battery pouch" shown is a POS. It doesn't really hold four AAs. You can stuff four of them in there, but it's a bad fit and will probably rip over time. I can't understand why Kata didn't add a stretchy pocket on the outside or something. Just a lazy cheap design by a company that has made some pretty good stuff.

BTW, even though this bag is a bulbous fatty, my Nikon L820 doesn't come close to fitting with four AAs.

Before I buy a case online I always make a point to go the manufacturers website and check out the product. I have two other Kata bags that I use for my full frame and pocket camera. I used the bag chooser on Kata's website for my new mirrorless camera and came up with this model and so I ordered it. I should have double checked the dimensions because the bag was way too small for the camera. The bag/holster is typical Kata quality and would make a great bag if the camera would fit. I boxed it up, returned it and ordered another Kata bag to replace it. Lesson learned here is to always double check your camera's dimension before submitting the order.

I searched quite a bit to find a belt pouch or holster that worked as well as the one I have for the Canon G series cameras. This is the one for the G1X. I'm using a Canon filter mount, B+W filter and Canon 58mm lens cap on my G1X. It fits very nicely in this item. I prefer the belt loops to the plastic clips on other cases. There is no pocket to store the separate rain cover; so I doubt that it will get used. I would use an interior or exterior zipper or hook and loop fastened slot for an extra battery or memory card, but the removable pouch is too easy to pull loose when removing the camera. Even with these short-comings I give it five stars for utility with the Canon G1X, and for the general quality of its construction.

I ordered this case a few months ago for my Nikon S9100 and so far I find it to be great! The camera fits nice and snug in the case. Dropped it once before onto the steel deck of a ferry and the camera survived without any damage watsoever and the case didn't even get bruised. Since the case has a hard plastic exterior, getting caught in the rain isn't an issue either. However, that isn't to say it's watertight so you might not want to drop into a body of water. It also fits into my pants pockets (of course, I probably can't fit anything else in there with it but then I don't carry it around in my pocket very often so no big deal).

Perhaps the only drawback to the case is that it's such a perfect fit for the camera that when I put my extra battery in the pocket of the case, it's a bit tight to close (but at least it does close).

Overall, I think this is a great case and if you care about protecting your camera then it's a great buy. Shipping was earlier than estimated as well so all-in-all, I'm really happy with this purchase.

I bought this case for my Nikon S9100, as advirtised. It a nice, small tough-looking case, but the slight extra depth of this Nikon "super-zoom" makes for a tight fit. The inside has a small amount of padding, but the inside pocket is pretty much worthless (I do keep 1 extra SDHC card in it, without it's protective case. I'll still be keeping my eyes out for one just a little (ever so slightly) deeper.

Bought this for a Canon HF200.

It is able to store the camera as well as cords, spare battery, cards, etc. The divider helps to keep cords separate from the camera, and the zipper pockets allow a few places to stuff cards and extras. The side pockets are very tiny though, and won't fit much more than SD cards, where the front pocket allows for a set of headphones, or a small phone, etc. The padding seems quite adequate to protect from falls and bumps.

The carry strap is fairly standard, and the bag has belt loops if you prefer that, but overall I found it a bit bulky for daily carry, so this bag is used mostly only for traveling to/from destinations with the camera. For day trips I opted to pick up the Aero 92 (also by Tamrac) which is much more suited to short trips.

For a bag that can carry and protect everything you need, this one works pretty well, as long as you don't mind a little more bulk. Personally, bulky means I don't bring my camera at all, so the smaller bag (Aero 92) is preferable for that, but for what it is, this is a pretty good bag. Combining the 2 bags depending on the use has worked out best for us and I would still highly recommend this one.

I ordered and received the MegaGear Brown Camera Case for my Sony RX1 from Amazon. Here are my thoughts.

The case is very well made; the leather is thick and does not have the offensive smell that I expected for the case in this price range. The brass buttons and knob look great with the brown case. The knob fits snugly.

The half-case part does not have an opening for the battery/SD card door so you'll need to take it off to replace the battery or remove/insert the SD card.

The top/front cover is very solid and that's all I need to protect the camera when packing it in my backpack. It's soft enough on the outside to feel great on my hand but stiff enough (as in not flexing) so that the shutter button won't get pressed accidentally and drain the battery (the RX1 will drain the battery if you press the shutter button even when the camera is off).

The included strap is nice, I didn't think I would use it but I did. I was about to order the more popular $45 strap but decided against that after a few days of using the included strap. I am not very picky about the strap quality, I just don't want the OEM strap with all the letters on it.

How does it stacked up with the others:

1) Sony official case: I like the MegaGear case better for 2 things; the front grip pad and the leather extended around to cover the area above the Focus mode selection switch. IMO, I like the harder leather feel of MegaCase better also. I would pick the MegaCase over the Sony even if the Sony were priced the same.

2) Another famous $100+ case. This case has something that no one does, the ability to open the battery door and the best leather feel. However it also moved the tripod mount and has no bump on the front grip. The leather does not extend to cover the area above the focus mode selection switch. I also feel the case stops short on the right hand side, it does not come all the way to the strap mount. Strictly talking about the half case part, if the price were the same, I would pick the $100+ one just because of the battery door. At the end, the MegaGgear is the whole package and this one is not. Saving a few $$ is also nice.

There is another case that I didn't get to try, this one does not use the tripod mount to secure the case onto the camera (use the top straps, which may rub off the paint). It has a nice looking front grip pad (from the picture). Since I didn't have it, I can't say much about it. If you are looking for a case, give this one new one a try.

The RX1 will last me at least 3 years so getting a proper case is important to me more than saving a few buck. To me MegaGear delivered what I wanted.
