Overall, this is a great product and allows you to take stunning underwater photos (way better than a waterproof point and shoot) It does take some getting used to though, and it's main drawback (as has been noted by other reviewers) is , because of the unneccesary hard plastic casing over the lens area, the lack of the ability to move the zoom ring on the barrel of a standard SLR lens. This drawback in itself will affect sales. Dicapac should do two things. Keep this model for people who want to use it for large zoom lenses-where you can move the zoomand make another model which has a soft plastic casing over the lens area which would allow the zoom to be used on a smaller standard lens. I I sympathise with the guy who said he had a leak with hi product but I think this is very rare other wise there'd be lots of such stories on the internet (which there isn't. I did some research before buying this) But in general this is essential for ocean shots, swim shots, pool shots, rain shots, etc etc. A slightly flawed but excellent product, and it's a great price too

Just received item and have only given it "swimming pool" tests todate. Using it with a Canon EOS XTi

Upsides:

Excellent picture clarity

Reasonably water tight (see below)

Downsides:

Extremely difficult to manipulate the camera lense rings making manual focusing and zooming effectively impossible.

A bit bulkier than I would prefer although this is likely true of any dry bag.

Seems to have a chronic, extremely low level moisture seepage into the case no matter how carefully I seal it. Not a large problem however I am considering returning the case for another try. As with any of these cases, I would recommend not using it for anything more demanding than snorkeling -and then with caution.

Difficult to compose shots with viewfinder-only camera such as the XTi. Trying to see through the mask, the bag and small viewfinder is pushing it a bit. Can be done but pretty marginal.

All-in-all OK for the price but you may want to consider paying a bit more for a low end underwater camera. You get what you pay for.

Update:

Finally got the case out for ocean testing. Pretty much confirmed what I had already guessed. Bulkiness, difficulty in using the lens adjusting rings and poor vision through viewfinder-only camera make this product a poor purchase choice. Save your money and buy an underwater camera for snorkeling.

Our camera stayed dry, but it was difficult to use because of it's bulkiness. It was a great to have on the beach to keep the sand away from the camera. We ended up buying a disposible underwater camera while on vacation instead.

It does its job rather admirably, but it's difficult to maneuver around, especially in action shots. The finger pockets let you change the zoom on the lens, somewhat, but the bag can get in the way of the shot. Still, it allows you to get pictures in wet environments at the fraction of the price of a typical DSLR plastic cover.

I bought this camera case to do some photos when sailing. My Canon XTi fit very well in the case and controls were easily adjustable. Then I went to do a try and after one single use the lens protector was totally scratched and now it is impossible to use this device. The idea seems to be very good, but the reality is that this product is made from very poor quality materials. Given the fact that I live in an oversea country I did not reclaimed but my recommendation is DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY buying this product.

Fantastic case. Tough as anything and provides excellent protection for my camera equipment. The pick and pluck foam takes a little getting used to (there are plenty of YouTube videos on how best to use it), but once you have found the right technique it is easy to shape for individual items. Would definitely recommend for someone looking for a serious protective case.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program I have been a big fan of Case Logic for many years, all the way back to when I bought their storage case for my music CDs in the 90's. I still have that case and it's going strong. This messenger bag is no exception. It's built extremely well, with lots of pockets & space for all my camera gear. Everything is well padded. I tend to use a simpler camera for now, I'm not into multiple lenses (yet!) so right now I have room for both my camera & it's simple gear, plus my wallet as well. So I'm able to condense my bags when we go to Disney, which is really nice. When I do decide to start trying out the various lenses, there is plenty of room for them.

So if you're looking for a good camera bag that won't break your budget, stick with Case Logic. I've been very pleased with all their products so far.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program For the last few years, I've carried one of my DSLRs and a couple of lenses and accessories in a Tamrac messenger bag. It's been a good bag, and I like the messenger bag style, but I have to say that the Case Logic bag goes beyond what I could have imagined for a messenger bag. It clearly was designed by someone who's actually traveled with camera gear. It's big enough to easily hold my Nikon D3200 with 18-200 zoom lens, a 12-24 zoom lens, a flash, plus accessories like card reader, memory cards, mini tripod, extra batteries, and battery charger. There's plenty of padding to protect everything, and the outer fabric looks tough enough to resist scraping or ripping.

But it's the extra touches that really make the bag stand out as a winner: things like a stowaway waterproof poncho to protect the bag's contents in the rain, the waistband to help take some of the load off your shoulders, and the extra grip at the base to help put the bag into an overhead bin on a plane.

I'm looking forward to taking the bag on my next trip.

The camera fits snugly in the center and the buckles and wide flap keep everything very secure. It is a little bit big to carry a long way, such as a trail hike, but excellent for car travel or short walks. The wide, thick strap is very comfortable on the shoulders. I usually prefer metal snaps, but these are a very hard, tough looking plastic that I believe will hold up well. I also love the shorter handle in the middle for picking it up quickly to hoist in the trunk, etc. I would love to see this bag in a waterproof design. I'm wondering if the material would hold up to a spray waterproofing without discoloration. I may test that out at a later date since we are often caught out in the rain while on outdoor vacations. The case is easy to wipe off and doesn't seem to hold dust. It also has plenty of room for the instruction DVD's that came with my camera, as well as room for extra lenses.

It's big and roomy enough to get my 17-inch laptop in it, too. All the padding is excellent for those of us who're accident prone. There are plenty of zippered compartments. I also like the fact that when you're not transporting camera equipment, you can remove the section designed for it because that section is attached using Velcro. Five stars!

Most importantly a pad and other equipment will fit easily into this case with just enough room to spare. The best thing about this bag other than its ability to carry and protect camera equipment, is the fact that it is itself fairly light. I am never pleased with a bag or case that is as heavy as the equipment you need to lead it with. Not so with this one. AS with any and every case logic item I own, and there are a few. This is sturdy and seem capable of surviving anything aside from apocalypse. This is very reliable and sturdy. I recommend the Case Logic DSM-103 and other items offered by this brand.

It came in real handy when I went on my cruise to Alaska.

Was not sure if I was going to like the little clip on the outside but it was a great idea. Loved the handy little clip that I could use to attach to it to my purse so that I didn't have to always have to hold it. The clip insured that I would not lose it because I had to put it down to take pictures.

I bought this for my Sirius XM Lynx. As advertised, it fits perfectly inside. The two zippers are ideal for when my headphones are plugged into the unit. I can zip them up on both sides to make sure the Lynx stays inside. The long strap works great for meI can put it around my neck.

Good quality construction all around. The zippers and clip for the strap are metal. The sides are soft-padded and would protect from light to moderate bumps or drops. The strap cannot be adjusted. The strap can be removed by a simple clip. I could put my own on this if I wanted.

This case is the Vivitar brand and can hold most smaller cameras. It came with a lens brush and cleaning cloth. There is a small pocket inside. Big enough for a memory card or spare key.

Fitment is accomadating. Leather will give a little. The Olympus tough tg1-ihs camera will fit. One does have to take off the oem handstrap off the camera too bulky. Definitely not water proof, but for other trips it works dandy. Two places for memory cards and an interior slip for your plastic or a buck or two.
