HP is selling this bag for $30 bucks, so when I found it here for $10 less I couldn't let this "Deal" pass me by... however when I received the bag, I wished I had... the color is less vibrant, it's cheap, poor quality, plus HP isn't embroidered on the bag... walk away from this bag and get the blue and black HP bag instead, it costs a little bit more but it's well worth it!!!

Having outgrown my Pelican 1510 Hardcase I was in the market for a larger protective case that had room for my two camera bodies two speedlights, flash diffusers, seven lenses and other digital photography accessories including batteries, battery chargers, filters and lens cases and hoods. This case offers water, dirt, dust and chemical protection; the case being both water and air tight. Depending on the padding options, plucked foam offering the most protection there are very few places, climates or modes of transport this case and its contents cannot survive.

Fitted out with optional TSA locks it offers some vestiges of security being thrown into an airplane hold it being too large to be accepted as cabin overhead baggage. Two stage lid clamps on top and sides insure there will be no accidental opening of this case. O ring and air pressure valve insure water and air tightness.

As a defense contractor, I travel to climate extremes as part of my employment and switch between 3 different padding options:

1. 'Plucked foam' enables me to size almost exactly each piece of equipment in virtually shock proof protection. The downside is less room for everything I want to carry. This carry option included the foam padding in the lid giving my equipment all around protection.

2. (Pelican #1614) Padded velcro dividers adjustability with minimum 'wasted space' allowing a greater carrying capacity, but less isolation of individual pieces of equipment from bouncing and jarring. Under most circumstances it remains my preferred packing option. I can change equipment padding space on the fly using the velcro strips to resize the padding. Keeping the foam on the box lid still offers very good all around protection against contents moving or being bounced against each other under any travel circumstances.

3. (Pelican #1609 lid organizer)Padded velcro dividers with an unpadded lid organizer cargo net option replacing the foam in the case lid ... this option is great for maximizing carry capacity with the sacrifice of shock and bounce and isolation protection. Objects that would be protected by a foam insert in the lid are fully exposed to larger vertical objects carried in the case body. Careful, very careful packing and spacing of contents must be conducted to avoid damaging either the contents of lid organizer or case contents (or both) which can rub and scrape and damage each other.

Number two is my preferred organiztion of the case the others put into play based on need for extra protection or carrying a lot of equipment over short distances and time.

The case is larger than it appears gobbling up loads of equipment without protest with a weight penalty to match. Carrying the case is a joy wheels are well spaced and move without friction; retractable handle is comfortable and allows a good carrying angle. Getting the case in and out of a deep car trunk with a full load of equipment inside is the only discomfort drawback to using the full capacity of this case. There are carry handles both top and side to aid in this effort.

The case is offered in 3 colors from Pelican: Black, OD (Green) and Desert (Tan). Not all vendors will carry all colors. Be very specific as well as thinking through on which padding options you select as the options are not cheap. With a lifetime warranty you cannot do better than choosing this case. 5 Stars...

I had been through the bag routine, my wife always wondered why I was so obsessed with ordering camera bags. I could *NEVER* find one that was just right for what I needed. I almost ordered the 151x model which would've ended up being too small for my needs. I ended up with the 1610 which is actually the 1614 since I have the model with the dividers. I am glad that I went with the larger sized model, and I don't foresee the need to take this as a carry on.

Definitely go with the model that has the dividers, unless you are after the utmost of protection and don't expect to change the configuration around. In researching many people suggested using some adhesive for the foam pieces to help hold them in place. Others also complained of how the wheel support system was built into the case and you had to build padding around it which took away precious space.

With the dividers, if I need to make a configuration change, it is as simple as moving the velcro attached dividers. I only realistically have two slots left in the case, and at this point I can't carry my flash bracket or Rayflash in the Pelican as I'm out of space for those longer items.

The lid top organizer Pelican Lid organizer ballistic nylon will assist you in making the best use of space possible in the case. Initially I was concerned taking out the foam padding protecting the gear from being crushed by pressure on the top. This proved to be totally unfounded. I use the case as a table, seat, or step stool, and it doesn't flex in the least bit. I've seen videos of a loaded case being driven over by a pickup truck and it didn't flex in the least bit! I use my lid organizer to carry all of my batteries, additional memory cards, contracts, pens, business cards, cleaning materials, bride rescue pack, and another highly recommended item, a Pelican Desiccant pack #1500D Pelican Peli Desiccant Silica Gel. I'm quite shocked at how much moisture exists, and I've really only owned this since winter, and haven't been through a humid summer yet! Those people that just throw the little bags from shoe boxes in, aren't doing anything for their gear!!!

The wheels work exceptionally well. Last weekend I shot a wedding at a Bed and Breakfast, the service was across a large field. A day after a prolonged rainstorm I had no issues rolling the case across the grassy field. The ladies' heels all sunk into the field though!

Four latches around the case ensure a tight locking seal. So good that you can't even latch them if something as small as a single strand of your camera strap is protruding. This is probably by design so that the waterproofing isn't impacted.

The multiple lock points have proven useful. I picked up a 6' bike cable Avenir Tightrope Cables (6mm / 6 feet) and use a lettered Master lock Master Lock 1534D Password Plus Combo Lock in Blue, Yellow, Orange, Red or Silver (Colors Vary), 1-Pack so that I can lock the case to a solid object when shooting weddings, or on site. After hearing of cards disappearing from the gift table (from people you know?!) I wanted the extra security.

The only con I guess would be weight. My case loaded is pushing 65 pounds. Not enough to take a star off of the rating though. I love having a bulletproof case, and it even floats loaded with all of that gear.

I truly enjoy using this case in the field. It can hold most of my Nikon photo gear, that I use 99% of the time. I am glad that it has wheels, because this is not something I would want to carry for any distance. I highly recommend this case because it offers a lot of protection from the weather and from impacts to my photo gear, much better than my old Zero Halliburton aluminum case. As you can see from the photo that I uploaded it holds 3 bodies and several lenses. One of the advantages I like about the 1610 case is that it is wide enough; I can leave on my most frequently used lenses on the bodies, and not to worry about dust issues.

If there's a better case than Pelican, I haven't found one!

I purchased the 1610 to protect my expensive Canon camera and lenses from the elements and rigors of trail riding the rugged Alaskan terrain with my Polaris Ranger 6x6.

Now, I don't worry about bouncing around on rocky trails, crossing swift rivers, following friends through clouds of dust, or getting caught in downpours and snow storms. These cases are nearly indestructible and completely sealed from the elements. I'd recommend Pelican cases to anyone who needs to protect valuable items from physical and/or environmental damage!

At first glance, Pelican cases seem expensive. But, when I realize that the price is less than 2% of what it would cost to replace my camera equipment, I'd say it's pretty cheap insurance, especially considering the quality!

Bought this case to haul around a bunch of gear for work, and it's awesome! The foam is scored into deep squares so you can pull out the squares you need to make sure whatever you're hauling has a snug fit. I recommend placing your object(s) on the foam, and using toothpicks to "draw" the outline.

My only complaint with the case is that over time, the squares have a tendency to tear at the scores with heavy use. I've been meaning to buy some brush-on adhesive and give all the foam a good coating of it, to see if this solves the problem. It's only for this reason that the case doesn't get 5 stars.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program This is a very well-made portable digital camera case (or, as others have mentioned, can be used for GPS units as well), and I was impressed with the OUTER sturdiness of it. Where it was lacking, in my opinion, is the lack of padding (equating to protection), on the INSIDE. While there is an elastic belt that holds the camera in place, I thought there could have been a LOT more inside padding to protect the camera in case of a fall without sacrificing interior space. There's virtually NO padding on the inside wall that the body of the camera rests against when it is strapped in, or on the opposite wall, for that matter.

I'm not sure if a strapped-in camera would be safe from shock/breakage or dents even with the sturdy outside design in a lengthy fall. I'm sure it would be fine if the case/camera fell from arm's length to the ground, but not so sure in the outdoors, and wonder why they simply didn't add more padding on both inside walls to protect the camera.

Other than that, it's a matter of personal preference whether you like a thin or thicker neck strap (I prefer a thinner but stronger one), and all-in-all, this no-frills camera case IS well made, with a convenient belt-loop, compartment to hold a few memory cards, and as previously mentioned, very sturdy outside shell. Before use, for extra protection and peace of mind, using double-sided tape, I would place a small, cut-to-fit piece of bubble wrap on the inside wall that the camera is strapped up against, going up the divider (which is padded, but not sufficiently in my opinion), especially if an expensive portable digital camera is what's inside.

I got this for a Canon G11, which is a large point and shoot camera. It's a snug fit when you try to cram in a neck strap along with the camera. No room for anything else. But a large P&S was my choice, so no criticism as to size. If you have a small camera or device, size shouldn't be a problem.

But:

(1) The earlier reviewer is right: No padding whatsoever on the inside. I would not want to drop it more than 6 inches to a hard surface with a camera inside.

(2) It is not a hard-sided case as advertised. The material is stiff, but flexible. Your camera is in jeopardy if someone sits or steps on it.

(3) The zipper closure is a scratch risk. Unless I'm very slow and careful, pulling the camera out inevitably drags the camera body across the zipper.

I won't be using this for my G11 or any camera. I'd give it two stars on its merits, but the price is attractive, so three.

Stash your point-and-shoot digital camera (or, as others have mentioned, a compact GPS) into this case. Then either hang it around your neck OR loop it through your belt (or other strap of your choice); you'll have only yourself to blame when you lose or damage your gear by some other means.

This is sturdy, clamshell-style case with very rigid corners. It's softer towards its center, and while it probably wouldn't stand up to be running over by a car, it will certainly take the strain of being tucked inside a bag, jostled around the inside of a vehicle, or bouncing through ups and downs of a day trip. Lowepro shows the same level of quality in an under-$20 product as it does in its more expensive items.

The zipper enclosure operates smoothly. An interior pocket provides extra snugness for smaller cameras, and an elastic strap can retain a miscellaneous item or two. This case easily held an Olympus Stylus Tough 6020 camera, an iPod nano, Sony earbuds and a USB cable (see the user images). It also held the same camera and an AC charging adapter, but the arrangement for this was awkward due to the bulk of the adapter.

Obviously not as compact as soft cases, when you choose this model you are making a conscious decision of choosing added protection over portability, since this won't fit in any standard size shirt or pants pocket.

This case was OK, I have bought better cases. The shell is good, hard and protective.

The zipper is not the best but works well enough.

There is a net on the inside for batteries and memory cards, but it will let items fall out if it is tipped.

(That kind of defeats the purpose)

The size is pretty good, but could be a little larger so batteries and such are not pressed so hard against the camera.

My daughter's olympus stylus fits OK, other than the net thing.

In the end, for a little more money, there are better cases out there.

I actually ordered three cases along with new camera because I wasn't sure which one would fit the best. This was the winner. My Canon camera fits perfectly with just enough space to add cards and extra battery if needed. It has a little pocket inside perfect for spare battery although I wish it had a snap or velcro closure in pocket because if case is opened upside down whatever is in that pocket falls out but that is very minor. Having greatly enjoyed the fine quality and convenience of Tamrac's Adventure 8 Photo Backpack , I eagerly purchased the Adventure 9 as a more versatile travel bag. I was especially interested in being able to consolidate my camera bag and computer bag into one unit.

The Adventure 9 certainly has more room than the Adventure 8, especially in the top compartment. The bag is sturdily designed and comfortable, and Tamrac have introduced some nice extra features. I like the removable inner pocket designed for carrying laptop and electrical cords, although it would be more convenient to have it adhere directly to the bag via Velcro, rather than having the cumbersome Velcro straps that lash to inner loops.

The padded camera compartment is easier to access than the Adventure 8, although one must be careful not to spill lenses and other equipment out on the ground.

The Adventure 9 is not all good, however. The see-through lined compartment has limited uses other than as a "collect all" pocket. Tamrac's special "Memory and Battery Management System" is pretty useless if if you utilize a memory case such as Gepe's CardSafe Watertight Memory Card Case . The memory management compartment just take up otherwise needed space.

Despite its larger size, the Adventure 9 has fewer compartments than the smaller Adventure 8. There are times when I would like extra compartments in order to stash small items and extra goodies, such as small bottles of sunscreen, hand sanitizer, and lens cleaner.

As a word of caution, the padded camera compartment is deeper than it looks in the advertisement photos. If your equipment is of standard size (in other words, not gigantic), you may have to be creative with the padded inserts in order to keep your gear from shifting or flopping around inside the compartment.

When accessing the camera compartment, the top quick release buckle tends to constantly flop down into the compartment. I'm constantly annoyed with it, shoving it out of the way to get to my gear, only to have it flop back into the way.

Both the Adventure 8 and Adventure 9 backpacks have waist straps. However, the Adventure 8 has a rear sleeve in which to stash the waist straps when not in use. For some unknown reason, this sleeve was not included in the Adventure 9 pack, leaving the straps to dangle needlessly below the bag. If it didn't reduce the bag's resale value, I would probably cut the straps off just to be rid of the annoyance.

According to the Tamrac website, the rear computer compartment holds 17" laptops up to 15 1/2" x 11" x 2". Most Apple notebooks run a bit slimmer than that, so access is not a problem. My computer, however, runs those exact dimensions and will not fit due to the compartment's zipper limitations. Tamrac should have designed a wider zipper opening for easier access. I'm fearful of forcing the computer, as it may tear the zipper or the compartment.

In conclusion, I was hoping that upgrading from the Adventure 8 to the Adventure 9 would allow me the same functionality as well as the added bonus of hauling a laptop. In the end, the bags shortcomings left a bad taste in my mouth.

Since I got this backpack several weeks ago, I made many trips, including 2 to Singapore. I brought along my Canon XTi (400D), its kit lens (18-55mm), one 28-135mm lens, one 70-200mm / f2.8 lens, one external flash, and a few other small accessories, one 17-in Dell D820 laptop, its charger and mouse. The total weight is over 24 lbs (11 kg). I find this bag much better than the Tamrac Adventure 7 and the Lowepro CompuDayPack, both of which I outgrew quickly. With the Adventure 9, I can access my camera, lenses and accessories, pretty fast. Yes, I do have to put the bag on the ground to get to the camera; But that's the price I am willing to pay for convenience of carrying so many things in one bag.

When in an airplane, I put this backpack in the overhead bin. It's securely out of the way of legs, feet, service carts, etc. Before leaving home or hotel room in the morning, I will make a decision on what to bring. For example, when I was in Singapore over a weekend, I left my laptop and its accessories in the lock box in the room. My backpack was considerably lighter. I was able to find a way to conveniently secure my monopod on the Adventure 9, went out to enjoy the city and took a good deal of pictures.

This backpack is well made. The quality of its materials and workmanship is very high. Its design makes its usage convenient. The features of this backpack are well thought-out. I feel secure carrying my photographic assets around.

The only issue preventing me from giving it a 5 star is the opening for the laptop. It is barely enough for a 17-in laptop; the zipper interferes with putting in or taking out the laptop, from time to time. It seems that the worst time for this interference to happen is at the airport security line.

Since my review above, I made many more trips to Asia & Europe, as well as within the US. I also upgraded my camera to a Canon 50D. And my company entrusted me with a slightly bigger laptop.

This Tamrac Adventure 9 I purchased back in 2007 still serves me well. It protected my camera, lenses and accessories through high humidity & high heat of Southeast Asia, high dry heat of the desert Southwest of US, extreme cold winter of the central Europe, and many types of weather in between.

It is a great looking bag too. I am going to the Caucasus and don't want to leave any equipment at the hotel. This bag allows you to carry all your gear with you. The straps are very comfortable. I like the grey/black combination, doesn't scream "I have expensive camera equipment. Come mug me."

I bought this to fit my Canon EOS 30D, EF 24-70 f/2.8L (attached to the camera), EF-S 10-22 & the EF 70-200 f/2.8L.

Does it all fit? Yep, but there's not a whole lot of room left over. I have room in the bottom for the 580EX Speedlite but that's about it.

The top on the other hand is a bit smaller than I would have liked. Sure it holds other stuff...and lunch...OR a sweatshirt...but it's pretty cramped. With a bit of mashing I can just fit a light sweatshirt and my Panasonic PV-GS150 up there but it's a tight squeaze to be sure.

It's comfortable to wear but could really be a little larger overall. And I wish there was a way to secure all the straps...sternum, etc. I don't need those all the time and without a few "ties" of some sort they just seem to be floppin' everywhere.

I only gave it 3 stars because while it really is a very nice backpack it really could stand to be a few inches larger all the way around...and be able to secure or remove the extra straps when not in use.

We recently took this backpack to Mexico, with a laptop, some camera gear, and even put some small portable speakers in the camera dividers. It was heavy but very comfortable to carry. All the gear was well protected but easy to access (handy for airport security!). The versatility of having padded sections AND a laptop pocket (which is accessible without opening the main part of the pack) AND an open area for jacket or snacks makes this the perfect pack for our needs.

The interior size is overstated. The depth in particular is certainly not more than 30mm. The useable length and width are also less because of the curved corners. With my ruler I would recommend this case only for a camera about 28x60x92mm or thereabouts. I'm disappointed that my camera does not fit because I really like this case and the turtle logo is adorable. I am returning it and continuing my search.

One of the "problems" all photographers face is how to carry their gear that keeps them safe, yet easily accessible. The Lowepro Street and Field waistbelt system is a perfect solution to this problem.

Sometimes when I go hiking, I carry my Canon Digital Rebel in the Tamrac Velocity 7 sling bag. It offers me quick access to the camera. Unfortunately, the Velocity 7 isn't very large and can't hold my Canon 100~400 f/4.5-f/5.6L IS lens, as well as miscellaneous gear, like a water bottle.

That's where the Lowpro Street and Field waistbelt comes in help. I am now able to customize the belt with different pouches, depending on that I kind of gear I want to haul.

The Lowepro Street and Field Pouch 20 is large enough to fit most point and shoot cameras. It has a draw string with lock under the opening flap to provide extra protection. The SlipLock attachment tabs provide two layers of velco attachments, making it easy to remove, yet very secure from accidental removal.

I have been trying to find a way to easily carry a lot of camera equipment for quite some time. I have tried backpacks, shoulder bags, duffel bags, but none of them really worked all that well. Then I saw the Lowepro Street and Field system with completely customizable pouches, vests, belts, and accessories. It works great, you only get the pouches you need so there is no waisted space and you can organize them however you want according to how often they are used (put frequently used items in easier to access places.)

The variety alone of this system is worth the investment, but the quality and ease of use is also very high which is a big plus. You can get a case for any lens, camera body, or accessory you have. I even have cases for my cell phone and water bottle. One word of caution, be sure to measure your lens with the lens hood on backwards if you use them to make sure that the entire thing will fit into the pouch, because sometimes the lens will fit, but then the lens with the lens hood will not. I often carry 5-6 lenses, extension tubes, teleconverters, extra memory cards and batteries, and a bunch of cleaning supplies and other gadgets, which weights a ton. But when they are evenly distributed on this vest/belt Lowepro system it is actually very manageable.

The only down side is that everyone will be staring at you because you have thousands of dollars of camera equipment strapped to your body. But if you can overlook that, this is the way to go. I have used this system at many zoos without ever having problems, in fact just unzipping a single lens and switching seems safer to me than opening an entire bag of equipment every time you want to switch lenses. Many of the cases also come with a built in rain/snow cover so if the weather changes all of your equipment is not destroyed. You can also put just a few pouches on a normal belt when you are just going to take photos in the back yard or don't need to take all of your equipment, which is nice. I really can't say enough about how much easier this makes traveling with a lot of equipment, if you have been hopelessly searching for a better solution, consider this, you won't regret it.

This back is excellent, I have been a media professional for 20 years and have given always preference to Portabrace for its rugged design and level of protection. This "little" bag offers it all and also comes with one Portabrace's small cushioned pouches that can be used to batteries or other goods.

The bag came with a Velcro insert used to secure the camera into place and a semi-rigid half-divider used to protect camera and equipment. Both can be easily attached to the bottom of the bag through their Velcro surface.

Despite its small size this bag is a beast. Currently I have the following items inside and still there is space:

Panasonic TM700

2 Low-Capacity batteries

2 High-Capacity batteries (the huge VBG6)

1 Battery adapter

1 Charger

I paid $14 brand new from one of Amazon's vendors and it was the best deal of the year, nevertheless it is a bag that will certainly last a lifetime. I would have gladly paid full-price for it.

Now, the downside. It doesn't come with shoulder straps, but if you can cannibalize one from an old bag it makes the entire package complete.

I can't regret anything about it. If you need a gab to carry tons of equipment and a small camcorder this should be your choice.
