The case is very nice but it is a little bulky for my Rebel SL1. There are gaps at the crossover points between the case body and the lens portion of the case that will allow dust to entry the case. Other camera cases I have had were much more form fitting to the camera. I like the fact that the body portion of the case fits securely and can be mounted on a tripod without having to remove the case. All in all it is a pretty good deal.

This case says it can hold 20 different cameras, and lets not forget: and more. Got this for the Kodak C182. It fit in the case, after shoving it in, and turning it around after it forced open the battery cover. Put it in to leave it there to stretch it out. All I am saying is to expect that it may not be the best for every single camera ever created, so look at that return policy if you plan to purchase, because your camera may not actually fit.

First, this should really be called a Photo DayPack. It has two distinct areas: one well padded area for photo gear, the other unpadded for things like sweaters, etc.

The camera compartment is not huge, but it will accommodate most peoples digital SLR, mid-range zoom, telephoto zoom and flash, and a few other modest size accessories. It's not a very good bag for a gadget freak you can't decide what to take, so takes everything.

The top compartment serves two useful functions. It gives us a nice, somewhat roomy area for carrying odds and ends; and it extends the bag length so that it fits comfortably on the back. This design is also much lighter than most backback designs, which makes it more suited to those such as myself who don't like to lug tons on my back.

How does it fit? Very well. I have NOT manipulated the dividers and they are in their original place. I have room to stack another short lens on top of the Canon 50mm if I ever buy another short lens. It is important to note that the Sigma 70-300 attached to the XTI is a smidge too tall and pushes lightly into the top compartment space (which is separated by material filled with what I guess to be foam padding).

Now I guess it is time for my complaints...

I am a huge fan of the BIG purse movement. I LOVE room for all my personal belongings. I love being able to carry EVERYTHING with me. In my purses I am able to hold a hoodie, six chapsticks, several lip glosses, a few games, checkbook, oversized wallet, snacks, calendar, Tylenol, water bottle, hand wipes, cell phone, two pairs of sunglasses, breath mints, pens, coin purse... oh I am sure I am forgetting things. Nevertheless, I assumed a backpack would be able to fit at LEAST this in the upper portion. I was wrong. I knew the dimensions before buying and tried to simulate the size at home. I figured I would have to cut back on my "essentials" but I didn't realize how much. My compromise? The hoodie will be slipped through the belt buckle and tied in place and I will have to learn to live with a little less when I travel with this backpack.

So with the upper size constraints, why did I buy this pack?

Obviously, (from my purse contents) I needed a daypack. The Tamrac differentiated itself from others in several ways. It was necessary for me to have the water bottle pockets. Cold and wet water bottles do not mix with electronics (cell phones, cameras, etc.) and paper (checkbooks, calendar, etc.) and the mesh outer pockets became a deciding factor. This ruled out the Lowepro Orion Trekker II Camera Backpack (Black). The Tamrac Adventure 9 Photo/Computer Backpack (Grey/Black)was another contender (because of the slightly larger size) but I hated the idea of extra weight due to the notebook pocket I would never use. Additionally, I did not like the way the bottom portion of the Adventure 9 opened. From the photos it seemed like a security risk and had the potential to spill out on to the sidewalk. (Though I could be wrong)

For those of you wanting to lug around all of your gear then this bag is not for you.

I on the otherhand don't have a lot (canon 20d, 70-200 lens, 18-55 lens, flash and charger. I can fit all of my stuff in here fine. And if I know I don't want to carry all of my stuff great.

The top is actually bigger than what I thought. For now, I leave my 70-200 lens attached to the camera and put it in the top part. ANd I put my wallet and keys down below instead. This is only because I don't have a smaller zoom lens yet that I want to leave attached which will then store the camera in the bottom section as well as the 70-200 lens in the bottom section. I on'y do this because that's the lens I always use and don't want to attach and detatch on account of dust. So there you have it. It's not HUGE and it really does hold alot.

There are mesh compartments on the side that do hold water bottles. There are mesh compartments in the top that hold my wallet/pda and keys and sunglasses.

The bottom has rigid compartment barriers which I like but it's all about your taste.

Bottom line if you don't have 200 dollars to sink into a bag then this is a great bag. I wanted a bag that I could afford so I could spend more money on a better lens.

I have several camera bags and this by far is the move versatile I own and my standard bag for out and about. It easily handles my Nikon D50 with 3 lenses and a flash. I have room for extra batteries etc.

The top compartment was great for carrying my Gortex jacket, sun glasses, power cords and chargers, as well as a baseball cap and more.

It's light enough to carry all day, doesn't make you look too much like a tourist.

If you are considering this you should also look at the Adventure 9 (#5549). I don't have that one yet, but other than the extra "weight", it looks like another alternative.

I bought this by mail order rather than the 5546 model on the basis that it had a larger top compartment which would fit "a light jacket, lunch or other stuff". Don't believe a word of it. Although the bottom compartment is fine and the pack has some cool features, once you squash in a lightweight parka there's not much room for anything else.

If you need a backpack for an all day trip or travel, the Lowepro Rover AW series would be a better choice, even with the strangely excessive waist straps. In the Rover's top compartment you can easliy fit a parka, lunch, thermos, sun block, cell phone, film, maps etc with room to spare. Any extras can go on the outside secured by the bungee straps and protected by the AW cover when raining.

The reason for buying these sorts of packs is threefold to protect your photo equipment, to carry other gear that you might need on a short tramp or trip and to be comfortable doing so.

I like Tamrac gear, but sorry, this is not up to its larger tag. If this 5547 model had more room up top for other gear (gussets or another front pouch?) it would get 4 or 5 stars. It is fine if you know its limitations and want small or if you want very small go for the 5546 model.

There are many manufacturers of camera bags that claim their product is the best or most prestigous Leica M System bag but in terms of practicality, price, quality of construction, and ease of use this is a real sleeper contender for the title. First the bag is manufactured by Domke (now a branch of Tiffen) which has a long and enviable history of marketing bags suitable for shooters rather than fashion statements for collectors. I'm not maligning the excellent Billingham & Fogg bags which likewise are excellent products but on the other hand think of that $400 bag getting thrown around in a open safari truck or getting soiled from contact with the sand and dust at Etosha Wildlife Park in Nambia--my Domke has been there and came out like new after a short trip through the washer. The camera equipment was untouched by the elements.

Did I mention price? You coul buy one of these bags in every color (black, sand, olive etc.) for less than one bag of the other manufacturers.

I've had my bag since 1988 and the longer I had it the more I appreciate it. It's now handsomely broken in and with the minimal padding fits me like a favorite pair of old jeans.

Finally, if you want to be serious contender for best all around M System Bag, you have to hold a complete system with room to spare. So what's in my bag? In the main compartment is a M-6 with 35mm Summilux attached along with a 50mm f2.0, 28mm f2.8, 21mm f2.8, 90mm f2.8, and 135mm f4.0. Not only that, but all lenses are stored in volume consuming leather cases! But, as the knife salesman on TV says, there's more! There is also a Metz 30 BCT 4 flash along with all the hoods for the lenses and a Leitz Mini Tripod. The zipper pouches hold lens wipes, a brush, blower, and filters. My Minolta V rides in one outside pocket and film rides in the other. All fits well under the seat of the airline passenger in front of me.

In Summary--you can buy a more expensive bag, a more stylish bag, and perhaps (although I doubt it) a better constructed bag but for an all around looking good getting down on the street carrying the stuff to bring home the shots holder this bag is the best in my book!

I wanted the F-803 and mistakenly bought this, but I'm glad I did. I wanted a bag that (a) would fit a camera within a holster bag, and (b) didn't look like a camera bag; this fits the bill perfectly. The camera holster is the big Lowepro TLZ2, the camera is a Canon 30D.

This bag is sturdy, discreet, offers padding on the bottom and around, but not to the sides. The two front pouches are indeed capable of swallowing most anything you throw at them.

And... You can use it as a notebook bag, even though taking both the camera in its huge holster and a notebook at the same time would be too much. Maybe with a smaller holster bag.

I got this bag for my new X920 camcorder, it fits perfectly with Wasabi VW-VBN260 (the bigger one). I put on UV filter and lens hood, it still fits nicely. I purchased this bag specifically for my Canon VIXIA HF G10 Full HD Camcorder. The camera and accessories (including extra battery and cables) fit nicely without being overly stuffed. I ended up returning the rain cover. I don't it is mentioned anywhere here or at the mfr. web site, but the cover is actually sewn to the bag it comes in, so you have to tuck the storage bag somewhere while actually using the cover. I found this odd though I suppose some might like this feature. Also the rain cover will NOT fit the Tamrac 5587 (as Tamrac says it will) when you have installed the optional/recommended side packs (SPX777), it just won't stretch over them. Tamrac has a pretty nice website but they and the description here at Amazon leave out a lot of details a customer who cannot visit a camera store would like to know before purchasing. I also thought this item was just overpriced for what you receive. I returned it and ordered the Mountainsmith backpack rain cover at less than half the price. I bought this rain-cover for my Tamrac bag, since I was traveling to Alaska when it was supposed to rain everyday.

It has good protection, and was very useful during hikes etc. Although if you want to change lens or get filters etc from your bag you'll have to take off the entire cover. The protection from rain seems very good, but putting it on the bag is some work.

Well usually I don't have problems with installation etc. but this cover had so many straps, and I have never used such rain-covers before, so I still haven't figured out how to fasten all the straps. Wish they had some instructions on the box or online.

But even without fastening the straps, simply putting it over my bag and fastening the elastic did the work for me.

Since I guess most Tamrac bags have rain protection you don't really need one if you are going out in a light drizzle, but for more than that I suggest getting this is a good idea.

This cover goes on multiple Tamarac bags that support the MAS system, in my case a Cyberpack 8. The carry case hangs on the side of the pack and the cover makes camera pack virtually waterproof. Although the Cyberpack by itself is very water resistant with the zipper covers pulled tight, in heavier rain, or snow the added protection is nice to have. I highly recommend purchasing this accessory.

I hate to rip on items, but this bag is awful. I wound up giving it away for nothing and buying a much nicer bag for less.

Disregard the picture, this bag is not the well-constructed, rugged leather bag you think you see. It's light, flimsy and feels very cheap.

The worst part is the main zipper that (allegedly) holds this bag closed, supposedly securing your valuable camera. I had this bag less than ONE week before the zipper quit holding. You know the deal, the teeth come apart and the zipper is hopelessly stuck in the middle. Tug it back and try again, same thing. Why, why, why do companies make products this poorly???

Stay far away from this bag. I hate to give this type of review, but I got burned on this one. Don't make the same mistake.

I got this bag free with a purchase of something from Ebay almost two years ago. As for construction quality, it feels really cheap. The 'pleather' its made of is extremely thin and ripable. This is a good thing sometimes, though as the bag will readily fold up for easy storage. Within two months of carrying the bag, the part where the handles connected to the top of the bag ripped. They were still connected at the sides, but it was a very unsightly thing. There's almost no padding in the bag, so I took out the dividers and laid them on the bottom for padding.

Having said this, the bag did do the job, and do it well for two years. It carried the following:

Nikon D90 gripped

Nikon 50mm F/1.8

Nikon 70-300 F/4-5.6G

Sigma 105mm F/2.8 Macro

Sigma 10-20 F/4-5.6

Nikon 20-80 F/3.3-5.6 in side pocket

Nikon SB-600 in front pocket

Card Reader, 67mm CPOL filter in other side pocket

So it carried quite a lot while it lasted. It was insanely easy to carry around and the top pocket made for easy access to camera goods. Unfortunately, my equipment has grown too extensive to fit in this bag (and one of the straps on the sling strap broke =/), so I have to get a new one. Ive had a larger, professional bag while I had this one andn chose to carry this one because it was so easily portable and accessable. Be warned, though. If you dont really baby your equipment, this one might not last you too long. Just dont go throwing knives and razors at it and it should do the job quite nicely.

I have used this bag frequently for the last 4 years: S1 to S5 Canon camera + batteries + wallet + PDA + passport = everything I need fits in it, without being too big of a bag. Now its time to buy a new one because the band is starting to fall off. But, hey for 4 years (!) is not that bad.

I hope that the bag is nowadays still the same quality.

I have never had any other bag for my camera, so can't really compare it with other bags.

The interior size is overstated. The depth in particular is certainly not more than 30mm. The useable length and width are also less because of the curved corners. The Vanguard Up-Rise II 46 is a large, lightweight backpack that has tons of space for my camera and just about any other equipment I may need. In fact, there are seven spaces just within the backpack that can be re-sized with the Velcro units. That doesn't even include the smaller pockets on the outside. While I'm not a professional, as an amateur who has a few lenses and an external flash, it is more than enough space.

The backpack is actually more like a suitcase with straps since it is designed to lie down flat and be opened. This keeps the camera and its components steady and secure. I've done some serious hiking with this backpack, including climbing up steep hills, and I've never felt my camera was in any danger.

At first, I figured I'd only use this backpack occasionally. However, I like it so much, I still haven't returned to my old case. It's so convenient and comfortable to have everything in one place and resting on my back.

The only downside is the price. While the backpack is very solidly constructed, you'd have to get a lot of use out of it to justify the price (even at Amazon's discount).

Overall, I highly recommend this backpack to any amateur photographer who wants a steady, spacious, and comfortable alternative to a traditional case. For those who frequently take nature photos off the beaten path, it is essential.

You can definitely see the difference when stepping up to a professional grade camera bag.

The camera bag walls are built with protection in mind. The walls are thick and the bottom has plenty of foam cushion.

There is enough storage to carry one body, a flash, and 4 to 6 lens depending on your lens selection. You an adjust the storage sections quickly by moving the dividers around. This will allow you carry two bodies safely. You will sacrifice a lens or two by having two bodies.

The bag does have weather proofing for peace of mind when having to go out in wet weather. Though I would not want the bag get too wet.

The outside storage on the bag has plenty of room to carry extras. Unfortunately, the inside mesh storage is on the small side.

There is also a compartment for a tablet or a 14" or smaller ultrabook. However, I personally do not safe putting my tablet there with it being on the bottom and the heavy camera gear sitting on top of it. Yes there is foam in between.

My other concern is the quick access pocket. The zipper will drift lower. While the actual top of the quick access panel is attached with a snap-in connection, the zipper portion is not stable. I have not had issues with it but I am not 100% confident that there may not be an issue.

I rate this camera bag 4 stars and would recommend it. I have not used any other professional grade camera bag so I can only compare to my Canon Deluxe Photo Backpack 200EG for Canon EOS SLR Cameras (Black with Green Accent)

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program The Vanguard Up Rise II 46 backpack is not for the amateur photographer who has bought a Rebel T3i and is looking for something to carry it in. No, this backpack is designed for the serious upper end prosumer, and professional photographer. Its a large, roomy backpack with a large amount of storage space and some very useful and practical accessories (the rain protection, for example. It's comfortably padded, and is definitely a backpack for those who expect to be hiking long distances with a fair amount of camera equipment. If you are looking to go into the Yellowstone backcountry, or a long day up in the North Woods, this backpack, for the most part, will do you right.

Two things do stand out that could stand to be improved. The backpack has a "Trapdoor" that allows for relatively easy entry into the interior of the backpack to retrieve your camera without having to stop and undo everything. Its a nice idea, especially for those opportunities for a fleeting shot, but the design is suboptimal to me. It's a little too open and I am concerned that in inclement weather, this is going to be a a danger to the camera equipment within.

The other thing is the laptop space. I do appreciate that they have thought to have room for a laptop, a lot of professional photographers like that flexibility in working on photos away from home. However, the position of this laptop space means that it will be pressing into your back. I think a little more padding in that space might work better. Personally, my netbook won't cause this issue, but a 13 or 14 inch laptop will.

Overall, though, I am extremely pleased with it. This is not a backpack I'd use for a casual trip out to the city to shoot photos. But for a longer expedition to the Badlands, the North Shore, or to the Rockies? Yes, this is the backpack I will use, even given its flaws. The benefits and advantages of being able to easily carry a lot of equipment are not to be understated.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program First off, this is a very well made, high quality bag. The materials and hardware are top notch. It is big and is best suited to someone who needs to carry around or transport a lot of lenses. However, this will not be the bag I use for most of my photo needs. The main issue I have with this bag is that it lacks storage pockets, nooks, sleeves, nets, etc. For example, there are no small pockets designed to hold memory cards, or batteries. Other than the voluminous main compartment, there is a vertically zipped storage pouch on the outside with nothing inside to secure or otherwise store various small items. Everything would just settle at the bottom.

Another curiosity is that the expanding feature only expands the main compartment, not the storage pouch. Since it expands out from the bottom, it appears its main need to use it would be when you have a long zoom lens you would need to store jutting outward in the bottom compartments. Not sure if I'd want to do it that way, though. Another thing that might be an issue is, when the expander is fully expanded, the main compartment pockets would then have some space above them. Seems to me a small lens could easily get loose in the gap.

I think I will probably stick with my Lowepro Fastpack 250 Camera/Laptop Backpack for most uses. It has less main compartment storage, but lots of places to hold a lot of accessories.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program This bag is lightweight, well-crafted, and durable. When packed with gear, I've never felt that it wasn't adequately protected.

The soft padded dividers can be repositioned to more securely stow your gear away and to confirm to differently shaped cameras. Bottom line you're not locked into one position.

I also like the "quick access" door to reach into the bag and grab your camera without having to open up the entire bag, exposing all your gear to prying eyes around you.

Overall, I think this bag is good bang for the buck.

I have had my Lowepro Compact AW for several years now and, unlike other bags I've owned, I keep finding more room in it! How is that possible? Not only is every pocket extra-deep, with generous size that swallows accessories, but the main compartment is a master of versatility.

The panels inside form a grid pattern that could hold 12 lenses, for example. Each panel is movable, removable, and foldable. Initially, I had one SLR body, 4 lenses, cases and cases of film, and piles of filters in my bag. Now, I have reconfigured it to adapt to my new style of shooting... TWO full sized SLR bodies (Nikon F100 and Nikon D200), 4 different lenses, memory cards, cables, and an external flash... and there is plenty of room to grow.

Further, the heft of the fabric and zippers means my bag shows NO SIGNS OF WEAR after literally YEARS of use.

In one word: FANTASTIC.

In seven words: THE BEST CAMERA BAG I'VE EVER OWNED.

This bag is affordable and can carry the way i have it set up the camera with lenses attached vertical grip + four more lenses. Plus it has room for all the extra's that i want to take. The only complaint i have is with the shoulder strap it get to be uncomfortable on longer outings.

When it comes to taking care of your photo and video gear one absolutely must consider how to properly protect and store everything in your kit. This is especially so when you are on the move from home to the shoot or are in traveling mode in the field. This applies not only to your camera and camcorder, but also to the various lens, diopters, cables, and accessories that accompany you on any shoot. Finding a camera bag large enough to accommodate all of this is one thing, having that bag provide you with ample equipment organization and protection is another. In the Lowepro Commercial AW DV Camera Bag you will find that there is more than ample room for both multiple camera bodies and/or a couple of camcorders in the Sony Z1 size range, as well as several lenses and accessories. It is also unquestionable that this is one bag that should do an excellent job of protecting everything stored in it from colliding with each other or nicking this and that.

There is no doubt about the professional look and feel of this bag. The Lowepro comes with a pro-quality shoulder strap that will provide comfort during long hours of carrying around town, or to where ever your shoot may be. The outer fabric is a water-resistant 1200d ballistic nylon with an exterior size of 19.1W X 12.6D X 11H in and interior dimensions of 16.9W X 9.1D X 9.1H in. Empty, the Lowepro bag weighs in at 6.28 lbs. With a heavy modular design, there are many dividers that flip over enabling you to stow your lenses either vertically or horizontally. Any of these dividers can be removed or replaced to fit your organizational needs.

The floor of the Lowepro bag is a thick, fully padded mat offering as much protection from the bottom as it does throughout the rest of the bag. The interior dividers are made of a quality foam with a nylon covering. In addition, there are multiple zippered pockets for storing business cards, cables, batteries and adaptors. The two large outside side pockets are completely detachable and the outside, tripod holder straps are strong enough to weather many a hike. There is also a Belt & Buckle carrying strap should you want to wear it a la fanny pack. Fully loaded, I am not quite sure how comfortable a bag this size would be on my hips but that is the only feature I failed to test prior to taking the Lowepro out in the field. All the outside zippers overlap to prevent dust and moisture from getting into the bag or clogging the zippers.

Finally, a well-hidden rain cover is a welcome part of the package. The high quality of the Lowepro Commercial AW DV Bag is undeniable. It is a bag that should last you considerably longer than your cameras will. The Lowepro could be a quality holiday present that will surely be appreciated by anyone. In fact, you can buy it for your loved one and borrow it from them.
