First of all, I disagree with the reviewer who panned these because the flap closes inward. That is exactly as it should be to prevent it from snagging and being opened unintentionally. Access is very easy and any slowdown due to this configuration would have to be measured in milliseconds.

I replaced the strap that came with my Nikon D5100 with a heftier one that is 1.5 inches wide. These pouches fit fine, but it did take some effort to maneuver the buckle through it. The D5100 remote came with its own chintzy sleeve, so I'm using one of these for SD cards and the other for the remote. I decided to also order the battery version of this pouch OP/TECH USA 4701202 Battery Holster Black to keep a spare in. The D5100 battery measures 2" x 1.5" x 0.5" and fits comfortably, though snugly in these media pouches, so I wouldn't get them for anything larger. Since the battery version of this pouch sells for the same price, but only as a single pack, I assumed that it's probably somewhat larger, so I ordered it. Not so. The "media" and "battery" versions are 100% identical, except that the latter is renamed and sells for twice the price.

So if you need anything larger than the media pouches, forget the battery version and look elsewhere. I recommend these, but don't be duped into buying the others at double the price. 5-stars minus one for deceptively marketing the other option.

It took just the right search terms to find these thingsI couldn't imagine nobody had created this, but it took me a while to find them. They are exactly what I wantedneoprene and small. One holds my backup SD cardI always worry that I will leave my SD card in the computer and run out the door without one, so have been wanting this to keep one permanently in there. I can get the SD card in its case AND my 46mm lens cap in one, and I can get the backup battery for my PEN digital camera in the other. I sort of disagree with the gentleman who thinks the opening should face outthe flap is easy to reach and will keep something from accidentally pulling up the flap and you losing something. So I personally think the flap facing in is a good thing.

The worst thing about these is that you have to unthread and rethread the camera strap. Arrrggghhthat is always difficult for me. But you def want them on there that way so they don't fall off.

I no longer have to worry about taking my bag or leaving the two most essential backup items for my camera.

The Op/Tech media pouch could have been a great product, but something isn't quite right with it.

The materials are fine and so is the build quality: one side is neoprene, the other velcro, and everything holds up nicely. The velcro face has both the loop (through which the camera strap is threaded) and the flap to the little compartment that holds the spare media card or battery.

Herein lies the pouch's flaw: the loop and the flap should be on opposite sides, not on the same one. Its current construction makes it difficult to quickly open the flap and grab the card or battery because the camera strap gets in the way every single time. Furthermore, there's a whole lot of velcro there, which makes everything stick.

The result: this simple task turns into a two-handed operation, sometimes demanding that the camera be put down. This sort of defeats the media pouch's purpose, doesn't it?

One final detail: the pouch is awfully tight for the Olympus BLM-1 battery (for the E-5xx and E-30).

I love the concept, but the final product leaves something to be desired. Or designed.

I ordered this product knowing it would be handy and in truth its a great idea. I also ordered the matching batterey holder too. Both arrived both are sold by same company. But the batterey holder is made in the USA and the card holder is made in China. The quality control in China is sadly lacking. The straps where the velcro are adheared too are too short thus keeping you from getting a secure fit and in addition the quality of the velcro must be less as well because they dont stick well. Returning as junk. In fact the batterey holder is only slightly larger then a card holder so why have both it will easily work as a card holder too. Make them all in the USA if you can. If you can do one you can do both here.

I was concerned that these would not work due to the negative reviews. This is not the case. The strap/belt loop is stitched in so you have to thread your strap through it, which will prevent it from releasing from the strap. There are also complaints that the flap closes towards the strap. I personally like this, since there is less chance that you will snag the flap on something. And for me personally, it is easier to open and pull the contents out if it is facing towards you.

Update: I have put these on two of my cameras one being the G15 (great compact camera btw), which I normally take with me everywhere on a quick disconnecting neck lanyard. These media holsters are small, durable and most important lightweight, which is important if you are wearing a camera around your neck all day. I am going to order two more.

This was not my first one. I have several Pelican cases and they are the the best option out there and this divider provides maximum usable space with full gear protection for day to day use. It is way better then having to re-buy and re-cut the foam inserts every time I by new gear.

I bought this case about 3 years ago. I wanted something small and sleek to tote my digital camera around in. I didn't like any of the cases that my local retailers carried, so I turned to the internet. This case was perfect! It's just the right size. It has a front pocket for SD cards, batteries, etc.

When I first received it, I thought it was going to be too small for my square-ish camera. Thankfully, the neoprene is easily stretchable and it accommodated my camera just fine. I just bought another camera, which is slightly larger than my old one and it has stretched over this one as well.

I leave the hand strap of my camera dangling out of the case and then put it through the hole on the zipper mechanism. This works great because I can easily carry the camera and when I take a picture, I loop the cord around my hand and the case hangs from it. I don't have to find a place to put the case down while I take pictures.

My only complaint about this product is the velcro belt-loop on the back of the pouch. It takes up space and makes the pouch bulkier than it has to be. I suppose I would not complain about it if I actually used it, but I have no need to.

Overall, this is a great product and I highly recommend it.

I bought this bag to use with the 7D. I haven't used it with any other camera although I suspect any camera would work. I only give this an a slightly above average rating because I don't like the way the top part where the camera goes. I don't like the camera compartment because you can't put a long lens in it. The compartment that hold the camera will only allow the camera with a telescoping lens and it won't hold the camera at all if you use the vertical grip. The elastic on the mesh pocket under the front flap does not retain it's firmness so if you open it too wide the contents will fall out. The part that holds the lenses is pretty good and of course customizabe but if you keep the lens hoods (inverted of course) on the lens I found it impossible to get 6 lenses in the compartment. I do like the side flaps. The side flaps are roomier than they look and I have even put my f2 100-300 IF lens inside even with the tripod collar. There is also a computer compartment on the back which is pretty roomy but not big enough to hold the computer power adapter and the computer too. I do love that that the backpack sets upright and that it doesn't exaclty look like a camera bag. I tried to use the front elastic straps to hold my Manfrotto tripod but they are not sturdy enough. There should have been a detachable pouch at the bottom to put the tripod feet into to help hold the weight like Tamrac and the other bag manufacturers use. All in all its not a bad product but I don't think it's worthy of more than just a slightly above average rating.

Sunpak 620-765 Unpadded Carrying Case for 3300 Pro Tripod Review

The product description clearly states that the case if specifically designed for the Sunpak 3300 Pro Tripod. Sorry, but I don't believe it. The tripod just doesn't fit, no matter how I've tried to cram it in.

I unsecrewed one of the handles from the panhead (there are two) and squeezed the tripod into the bag. The unit is just too long. It almost wants to close, but it needs about another 1/2 inch of bag to close.

This was a gift, so I'll probably just keep it and try to make it work.

Disappointed to say the least. I had hoped to not have to unassemble the tripod for carrying... makes it more of a hassle for field trips.

Other than that, the case seems really nice and I would probably rate it at 5 stars. If your tripod is less than 10" in diameter at the feet, it should work well.

If anyone has a suggestion on what I'm doing wrong, I'd sure like to hear!

I got this bag for my Sunpak tripod and it does not fit. It's WAY too short. The description says it's for tripods less than 24" and the bag length is 24.2". My tripod is 23.5" and it's a really tight fit.

The good:

Lightweight bag (since it's unpadded).

Handle looks comfortable but since my tripod didn't really fit, I didn't get to try it out in the field.

The bad:

Bad fit. The description is waaaaay off. The case would be better for tripods under 22", not under 24". You need some wiggle room to make it easier to get the tripod in and out of the bag.

Cheap construction. The bag I received didn't even have the threads cut off. It's that lack of attention to detail that makes you wonder what else they skimped on. :-/

This bag was cheap (I got what I paid for) and it wasn't even worth it to return it since I would have to pay for shipping and everything. I'll probably give it to a friend or something.

This is a great camera case. I use it for my Panasonic Lumix-TS3, which is a rugged, waterproof camera.

The hard plastic flap is extra protection for the screen.

I usually leave the case unzipped 1/4" to allow the camera lanyard to stick out of the case. I carry the camera and case on my wrist together, and the tension on the zipper has never made it come unzipped.

My only concern is the loop that the carabiner is attached to. It seems rather small, and I would be cautious about using it to secure the case to anything for fear it would rip and the both camera and case would be lost. I solved this problem by not using the carabiner clip at all.

The case fits in my pocket (tight, but fits) and the belt loop attachment works, but looks a little doofy.

After purchasing my D5000 fantastic Nikon camera, I wanted a way to protect it, but not limit easy access to the D5000 many buttons... "This Snugit Skin was/is that answer to my wish to protect!" All buttons activated through this skin work perfectly! "No issues!" Plus,,, I have used it for most of the summer and I can now highly recommend it after giving it a good work out! Most camera protection cases delay access to the camera when there is only just second or two to capture a great shot... Things like unsnapping, then twirling the cover off to get it out-of-the-way, basically takes too much time to which this snug fitting solution "totally leaps beyond!" With a flip off of the lens cap and toggling the D5000 power switch, I am ready-to-go knowing that my camera is protected with a strong rubber outside cover that also aids me against random splashes as this skin to me is just part of my camera... Having done mechanical designs in the past, I am impress at how well this mechanical fit truly is... "There is no slop!" I would give the designer an A+! And, it is most true that one must remove the camera lens first to get this cover on... "It is that snug of a fit!" And, I have not notice any wearing, rubber stiffening, or any hints of rubber cracking as I scan this outer skin... This "skin" also significantly aids in maintaining a "good grip" on this camera at the same time... This fact has save me from dropping this camera a few times out in the rain,,, as on those occasions,,, I only had a few fingers left to hold on to my valuable camera... "The skin's surface touch was that helpful/beneficial!" And,,, "Today Snugit appears as new as the day I purchase it!" I only wonder at times what kind of rubber they used... Perhaps it was from a Tire Manufacture that has come up with the proper rubber/synthetic formula to make this product so good. That would be my guess............

I bought this protective skin for my Nikon D5000 which also happens to wear a battery grip. If the skin is on, the battery grip is obstructed by the rubber and won't lock into place so that the electrical contacts are... in contact for the battery grip to do what it is supposed to do. I removed the grip and applied the skin to test the camera handling. I found no immediate problem in the operation of the camera with the skin on. It would take some getting used to having the skin on though because all the buttons acquire a rubbery touch (!). The skin does not interfere with the swiveling screen. Do not try to put the skin on with a lens in place. The only easy way of applying the skin is with the lens off. Since I want to keep using the battery grip, I have set the skin aside. Quality-wise, the product appears to be sturdy. It should be able to stand harsher than usual treatment. If you are the photographer who gets into the thick of things, this is probably a protective skin you would like to try. It will protect your D5000 from scratches and other non-destructive fouling. But if you use a battery grip, like I do, this is not a valid proposition (unless you take a knife to the bottom right of the skin and remove a piece in which case I'd think the snug fit will suffer).

A few weeks ago, I dropped my camera while on some rocks in the New Mexico desert and the protective skin absorbed the drop like it was designed to. Needless to say the camera was ok and I continued to shoot my landscapes worry free. My only negative feedback would be thats its a bit hard to see some of the symbols for the features on the back but after some time and getting more familiar with the camera, that becomes less of a problem. It's a great overall product.

This skin kit is amazing, now I'm a person who likes to keep my things nice and working for a long time. This is protection that everyone should put on their camera. Now this skin is limited but it's great. I have dropped my camera and it was fine, had it rained on and under neath the ski the camera was bone dry. I think it's a great product and would recommed it to anyone. The other things I would suggest is a screen protector, again I want to keep my camera working for a long time and I don't want my screen all messed up.

I'm really blown away by the fit, quality, and protection this offers. I got it along with a collapsible rubber lens hood and UV filter to ruggedize the camera for a "caseless" outdoor festival carry rig with a crossbody sling strap. Installation was a snap. It looks like it's going to be harder than it is, but there's plenty enough stretch to get it wrapped around and have it fall into place where it conforms perfectly to the camera body. You do remove the lens to get it on.

So obviously I'm all set for a ruggedized outdoor rig, but what really took me by surprise was the ease of operation the "button pressing through the skin". I mainly do product photography from a tripod with studio lighting. I'd never imagined keeping the skin on for studio use, but after no more than 10-20 adjustments, the marginally different feel of the buttons was second nature, and I don't see any reason to ever remove it as long as I'm not using an outer body accessory like the battery grip mentioned elsewhere. (It does fine with the mounting plates for my tripod and sling strap).

It gets the full five stars for what it is and what it does and the quality at which it does it, but I do have two suggestions for a possible "rev 2" if Delkin is listening. 1) I'd prefer there be a "flap" for the SD door (the only thing I've ever actually broken on a DSLR), and 2) an option to cover the built-in flash while retaining the hot shoe flap. I'm envisioning a scored line in which you can decide before installation whether you want to leave it or cut it away with a hobby knife. I just think the primary demographic of people who invest in protecting their equipment might have a significant overlap with those who make other arrangements for lighting than the on-body flash.

One other general note it does not interfere with swivel LCD operation, and comes with a separate clear "film" (harder, stiffer than what you think of for a cell phone cling) to protect the display.

All in all, one of the most pleasantly surprising products I've encountered, and I look forward to adding one to every body from here on out.

If you had a "good" Lowepro once, you already know that it is hard to get used to any other bag. The quality, design, and comfort of most Lowepro bags are just outstanding. I've already gotten the Lowepro DSLR Video Pack 250 AW Digital SLR Camera Backpack Case (Black) for travel, but I wanted a stylish messenger bag for urban shooting. Well, I got everything I wished for minus the style part.

My first impression of this bag is: It is not small! It can carry all my gears except the tripod. That is a Sony A77, 70-300G, 16-50mm, 35mm, and Samyang 8mm. This bag has three main vertical compartments in a well-padded environment. The 70-300G lens fits in the center, even when attached to the camera, and you can use each side compartments for one long zoom lens; alternately, you can stack up two smaller lenses--on top of each other--in each side compartments. The front pocket also can hold a spare body. There are also lots of spaces for memory cards, filters, lens caps, and etc.

Because of the size and style, I was tempted to get the Lowepro Exchange Messenger Camera Bag (Gray), but most reviewers have mentioned lack of enough padding. I also considered Lowepro Classified 160 AW Shoulder Bag for DSLR and 1-2 Lenses (Black), but the height of that one is just too long. Overall, this Pro Messenger 180 AW bag is very well padded, has an adequate size, and provides secure space for your precious gear. It is not flashy, but it is noticeable on your shoulder. My only complaint is the price, and that is the reason for 1 star rate decrease. I cannot justify the price difference between this bag and the Lowepro backpack that I've got.

I've come to the realization that I'll never find a bag that works for everything. When I began shopping for camera bags this became even more apparent. My first was an Opteka Excursion Series C900. Big as a house but not good for walking around. I went cheap and got a generic canvas bag and a BBP DSLR Camera Insert. Okay for compacts and mirrorless but too thin for a metal DSLR and heavy lenses. I like the messenger bag form factor since it doesn't scream $$$$$ camera! Rob me! Most of the messenger camera bags, however, had designs and logos that I didn't care for and I wanted to keep the price under $200. I narrowed it down to the Lowepro Pro Messengers and the Thinktank Retrospectives. I picked up the Retrospective 30 and was very impressed with it. It's an excellent bag but too big for everyday use when I don't have the 5DII and a couple of lenses with me. I was about to get a smaller model but I saw a couple of glowing review videos for the Pro Messengers so I gave it a shot.

I thought that they had sent me the smaller 160 by mistake. I took measurements and it was close to the description but I thought it was on the small side (and it looks square). Then I saw the stitched tag which confirmed the model number. As I expected, the build quality is very good and at this price it had better be.

First impressions:

-Tough material and stitching

-Thick padding

-Configurable compartments

-Lots of pockets

-Subtle and classic styling

-Magnet for silent flap operation or the more secure velcro

-Fast and easy access to the pockets.

I packed it full of my usual junk and dropped in the 5dII/70-200 attached, 24-70 and 50 stacked. Getting tight in there but it fit and the inside pocket could still take a speedlight. The retro would not let you put in a DSLR/70-200 standing up but this will. Since I got this for light use I'm fine with the smaller capacity. I would go with a larger model if I was bringing the trinity + speedlight + junk. I adjusted the strap to my height and slung it across the chest as I usually wear these and found the fit surprisingly comfortable (like a pair of sneakers). Perfect for light duty.

Pros:

2. It is very well padded

4. Lots of internal pockets for gear

5. Fancy front Flexflap design with Velcro and magnets provides your choice of secure or easy access, or full working access (aka wide open)

6. Rear pocket can be zipped to provide storage space, or unzipped to fit over the extended handle of your rolling suitcase for easy mobility.

7. Comes with all weather cover stowed in the bottom

8. Can fit a DSLR fitted with a 70-200mm f/2.8 lens, plus an external flash, plus two smaller lenses in the main compartment.

9. Can fit a second camera body or point and shoot in front pocket.

10. Two external side pockets can possibly hold a small water bottle each.

Cons:

1. It's bigger and more clunky than it looks in the photos

2. While it can work as a gear bag for an event, it is too heavy (when fully stocked) for long walks, or everyday toting.

3. Most of the weight comes from the shoulder strap and the shoulder pad, (which is much too bulky) and unfortunately neither is removable.

4. The only access is through the top, so it is difficult to access gear at the bottom of the bag, or fix the internal padding correctly. Unzipping all the way down for front access would have been a plus.

5. No straps for a tripod or monopod (not a big thing if you're using it for street or urban photography, but like I said, it's heavy for a day tote, and you may be using it for events)

This may look great on a big guy, but would be a bit overwhelming for a smaller framed person, especially if you have other gear to carry. It will however keep your gear safe and dry.

I use this for small weddings, stage shows or school events, where I can put in down in a corner until I'm ready to pack up. I definitely wouldn't want to walk around with it on my shoulder all day.

And so the search for the perfect camera bag goes on.

Bought this is bag at my local camera store since I really wanted to find out how big it is. Surprisingly, it is really not big at all especially side by side to the Crumpler 8 Million Dollar Home. Color of this bag is actually far from gray, for me it looks like dark moss (very dark green). Coming from a Think Tank Retrospective 7, I was really torn between getting the Retro 20 and this one. The Retro series are awesome bags and there are actually a very few reason why I went to the Lowepro Pro Messenger. First, since I was getting a tall bag, I was concerned about the common complaints about the very big flap that sometimes gets in the way when accessing the main compartment, the Pro Messenger's flap can be folded in half for easier access (also covers the noisy Velcro). Second is the fabric, this bag's fabric is almost the same as Crumpler's which is almost moist resistant AND dirt resistant. Although I miss the look and feel of canvass, it's still a cloth that can attract dirt & moisture easily (especially at the bottom). Third are the side pockets, the two uncovered side pockets are really usable, it can hold a small water bottle. This is really important when outside and at the same time freeing your hand from holding the bottle. And also I would like to mention, the two inside side pockets for flashes are big enough to hold a small lens. This bag however has very crucial weakness, the shoulder strap, specifically the padding. The way Lowepro design it, it is curve like a letter "C", although very thick, it's not as flexible as the Retrospective and when the bag gets to a significant weight, it tends to dig on either your shoulder blade on the back or just below your collar bone. To get around this, your have to slide the padding a little forward or towards the front, but for a bag at this price range and for a well known bag manufacturer, this is a really big disappointment. I bought this bag specifically to hold just one body (no grip),my 70-200 2.8 and a one extra lens. It's not a lot but still I'm well close to that "pinch" on the shoulder strap that I have just mentioned. Even though, I will be keeping this bag for it's pro's and will be hoping that the shoulder padding will soften in time. To those who are interested in getting this bag online, aside from having a good return policy, don't remove the tags and throw away the box/packaging materials immediately. Instead, fill the bag with the gear your plan to use most and observe how the strap feels not only on your shoulder but also on your upper chest & back. Hopefully this review helps with your decisions with this bag.

I needed to carry a Canon 5d mkII, 70-200mm f2.8 'L' lens, plus a 24-105 f4 and a 17-40 f4 as well as some additional small equipment for Third World travel in crowded cities and off-road. After buying and returning half a dozen bags, the 180AW Messenger bag was the only bag that truly met my needs for compactness, carrying capacity and unobtrusiveness. For over 25 years my old LowePro over the shoulder bag never let me down until I bought the 70-200 f2.8, suddenly I was out of room. This was the ONLY bag which could hold it and my other lenses comfortably and compactly.

Sure it's over the shoulder and can be heavy when fully loaded, but sling bags and backpacks just don't cut it for Third World travel. A backpack is needed for trekking, but for almost any other use this is just perfect. The cover is brilliant, as it folds in half: open fully it uses velcro to strongly prevent anything from falling out, but if you are in a fast moving situation, the cover folds in half and uses a magnet to keep it closed. Thus there is no sound to tell people you are opening your bag and pulling out your camera or to create noise for another person shooting video.

The AW version contains a waterproof cover that, although it takes a bit of work to figure out how it fits, completely saved my equipment in a downpour. (Make sure you get the AW version). It's got excellent pockets, including a nice hidden one for passports. And the back opens with a zipper to be either another thin large pocket for printed materials, OR it opens on the bottom too, so as to secure itself over the handle of a wheelie. Color is slightly Khaki, not really gray, heavy duty nylon weave. Worth every penny.

2nd review i've used these cases in the past as a paramedic and they have stood up to almost any abuse but that appears to no longer be so. i've used this case as a camera case with gentle use and no abuse of any kind. about 4 to 5 weeks after it arrived i was opening it and the left latch snapped in half. i called the vender and was told it was a pelican problem and i was given a customer service number. i called pelican and they aggreed to send 2 latches. this is good because since i called the right latch snapped in the same way. this used to be a great product but all i can see now is replacing one latch after another

3rd review the new latches have worked fine now for about a year/they were a bit of a pain to install but otherwise np upgrade to 4 stars thx

I used to purchase my hard cases from a firm in Canada. These were for a large collection of optics and lasers. By chance while I was purchasing a high-end camera on Amazon, a 'you may also like' prompt popped up. Since the prices were reasonable and one source shopping is nice, I orderd 2. No regrets.

The attributes are: latches are much easier to work than the Canadian kind (sorry guys), the pressure relief valve, and the ease of ordering replacement foam inserts when I change my equipment. I also recommend the Pelican cable locks.

...This is one of my best investments. This is my second pelican case purchase however I feel it will not be my last. My pelican1500 houses my DSLR Nikon D90 body/ batter grip, 1 35mm prime lens, 1 50mm prime lens, the nikon 18 105 factory lens, and a beast 80 400 telphoto zoom lens. Not to mention all my cables/ charges and memory cards. And I left one space free for the fisheye lense I'm planning on purchasing. All this was a tight fit however I made it work with a minimum of two foam square blocks of buffer space. So YES...this case meet all my expectations and more.
