This case is what it is written up to be. I do not like the "hook" on the back of the case but the case itself is a hard, very protective case for my new camera.

This is the case listed on the box of our new Sony digital camera, but it actually didn't fit very well. It's slightly too tight when one slides the camera in, and the case is too long so there's a 1/2 inch of empty space on the end once the camera is inside. I think it's a carrying case designed to fit a multitude of cameras rather than one specific shape. If you're looking for a custom case that fits perfectly, skip this case. Mine's in the trash.

It is an elegant, nice and robust carrying case, I'm pleased with it. The only things that I don't like are the openings in the laterals, I would have prefered the case completely closed.

It seems like a nice case, but the interior dimensions (3.125 x 4.5 x 1.6875 inches) listed in the technical details are way off. If they were even close, it would fit my camera (Sony DSC-H55), but now I'm returning it.

Best Deals for Mountainsmith Cyber II Recycled Camera Bag

We got the x-small for a Nikon CoolPix s3100. The camera fits tightly, but the zipper closes well. The materials look high quality and carefully made, and it is cute/nice looking.

However, the design is not that great. It has one additional external compartment that has velcro at the top, close and keep the contents in. However, if you have a memory card, the velcro is too low the velcro will overlap with the card, and you won't be able to "secure" the card in the compartment.I would also be a little nervous about storing the memory card without a case, as I'd be concerned about the velcro scratching the card connections. The fit is pretty tight, so it will rub with the velcro every time you get it in and out.

I doubt the external compartment is big enough to store an extra battery, or even two memory cards.

The belt attachment also opens/closes with velcro. I seldomly use a belt attachment, but I can't visualize the advantage of this, and it makes the case a little bulkier.

For the price, and features, I'd hands down choose the Lowepro Ridge 10. I own both. The Lowepro Ridge 10 is not as cool looking, but in my opinion, it has a much better design.

Honest reviews on Mountainsmith Cyber II Recycled Camera Bag

I very carefully measured and re-measured my camera to make sure it would fit the inside dimensions listed in the ad for this camera bag, but when it arrived, my camera did not fit after all, so I had to send it back.

The only drawback is that the flap that allows you to attached the camera bag to your backpack shoulder strap is undersized for some shoulder straps.

I purchased this to hold my new purple colored Canon Elph 310 HS. It compliments the camera nicely even though it isn't the exact same shade, but the color is very girly and pretty. I am concerned that it might get dirty being a pastel color, but I knew that going into it, so I will deal with that when it comes time to clean it. I wish the case had a hard side to protect the screen, but that's not what the product is, its a slim sleeve. So I am not taking any stars off, because I knew buying it that it would be light coverage. Very cute case.

You get what you expect. Well made. On the big side, because it is so deep. Can handle a medium format camera. Think about one that comes with wheels (next model up) if you are planning on hauling around a lot of gear and aren't very big and strong with a good back.

A very good backpack I allways buy Tamrac.

As a pro you need a good bag and Tamrac is the best!

Honest reviews on Tamrac 5256 Black CyberPack 6 Photo/Laptop Backpack (Black)

I bought this photo backpack back in 2005 and it's still going strong. I am an outdoor photographer and this has seen all kinds of weather from snow storms to 100 degree temperatures not too mention I did not baby this bag (although, I probably should of because of all my expensive gear inside).

Bottom line well worth every penny I paid. If I ever do need another photo backpack (which I highly doubt because this one is so good) I will buy TAMRAC. To any budding photographers out there I will recommend TAMRAC. If there is one downside to this pack the laptop compartment is fairly small (I was only able to get an old 15 inch laptop inside.) My current 16 inch will not fit. However, I did not buy this pack to lug around my laptop. That's what my laptop case is for!

Bottom line...Tamrac is simply the best!

I purchased this backpack about 5 years ago. Its still going strong. I'm a photographer and videographer, so I carry a lot of gear. There's a lot of compartmens, and the main compartment is configruable. Like another reviewer said, you've got to have a storng back to carry this bag when it's fully loaded. It's great for travel. It does draw attention from the TSA when flying, but I don't mind, since it can be carried on the plane. I wouldn't want to check my gear and risk losing it. It's well worth the price.

I have Canon EOS 60D and i used the hood with my 18-135mm canon lens. at 18mm the hood appears at he corners. this makes me crazy. if you mount a UV filter and then mount the hood, between 18mm-35mm the hood appears at the corner. Although the other 2 filters fit perfectly the UV filter did not fit to my 18-135 mm lens.

The filters themselves are decent for beginners, and the cleaning stick is handy. But the hood intrudes on the borders of anything less than 25mm shots, rendering it all but useless for outdoor shooting. Pass on this product!

As I stated many times before, when we are talking about lend hood, the ad should mention the lens length not only model EOS 60D SLR model has too many lens can be attached , I need hood for my 18-200mm lens but under EOS 60 D model

so ad misconducted customer to think that 67 mm hard lens hood, it is not it is 72 mm diameter lens.

So I strongly suggest manufacture and Amazon the ad should specify the lens length not the model number, Of course put both of length of lens and model number will be much better,

I have returned package to manufacture, however I have not seen refund yet, please follow up

I don't use the shoulder strap (not because it doesn`t work, it does), it's just that I like to hang it from my belt, I use a long and thin camera strap (long enough to have it across my neck and shoulder at all times, attached to the camera in its case) so I keep the camera in its case and the long strap around my neck and shoulder, leave the case unzipped, when I need to shoot, just grab the strap and pull the camera out of the case, and then, back to the case. works great for me, just love it. Good material, well cushioned and I like the way the case opens with the flap towards you (makes it easier to pull out the camera). Will buy a second one in black, have one in navy blue. It can fit my Nikon D5100 or, D3100 with an 18-55 mm zoom. Also use it for my Canon SX40. Waterproof. Just great !!!

I am a biologist by trade so I wanted a recreational bag that was both comfortable on full day hikes through rough/hot terrain but allowed me to carry a moderate amount of gear. I ultimately decided on the Kata over the Clik Elite Nature backpack because of the dedicated laptop holder. As a researcher, there are times when I will need to carry my computer into the field.

My first impression was that this bag is extremely light and roomy. I take a d300s and a 70-300 f4-5.6 lens and at least one wide angle (usually a tokina 12-24). The bag is plenty large for me to carry additional filters, flash, cleaning supplies etc, chargers and even my 10X42 eagle optics binos (all in the padded lower compartment). Fully stuffed, it was still a breeze to wear making it great for travel. I imagine once on location, most items can be stored to minimize weight in the field. I will be testing this bag in Costa Rica in September and imagine that weight will not be an issue. A hydration bladder would be nice but I can carry a 1000 ml nalgene in the side pocket no sweat (though a hydration bladder would be nice--I imagine it's next to impossible given the laptop holder). The top compartment is large enough for some food and a rolled up lightweight rainjacket. I do wish the rain cover was attached to the bag via a pouch on the underside--it's too easy to lose and carrying it around requires losing at least one pocket's worth of space.

Perhaps most importantly, the bag carries very well. I am a big guy (6'4" 225 lbs) and it is long enough for my torso. It fits close to the back while its design allows for free airflow--important when I'm walking through the desert. The hip belt is effective, but like most day pack type bags, not nearly robust enough (again, a weight saving measure no doubt) though I wish the hip-belt straps didn't taper so much (they easily get twisted). Properly fitted, 35 pounds of weight (as a test) was distributed perfectly. One thing however was that the aluminum frame would occasionally make contact with my shoulder blades--annoying on small hikes with little weight, but potentially problematic on long hikes fully loaded.

A few mild criticisms: One, the bag could be streamlined--the straps are really thin which probably cuts down on weight, but makes them more difficult to maneuver and it seems they get tangled easily. The hip belt adjustment straps are also way too long and are constantly getting caught on twigs, branches, etc.. Additionally, the front accessory pouch (one of the places you can carry a tripod) is just that--a pouch. Kata should add a few small pockets to hold filters and flash cards etc., in the event you don't carry your tripod there, it's just a big black hole.

Two, I'm not entirely sure what the spine guard does (I know what it's supposed to do) but it's flimsy and seems like a gimmick. It also makes opening the lower camera compartment significantly more difficult--I just took the spine guard out.

Three the foam harness takes some getting used to. I'm also apprehensive about the lasting power of the foam. After a few uses, there were clearly stress points around the shoulders where the foam bends and supports the most weight. It seems that the straps will develop cracks sooner rather than later. I think, large, padded cloth straps would have been a better bet.

Four, the tripod attachment seems to be an after thought--while it's there, the tripod bag is just another loose thing that can get caught/easily lost.

Five--this bag will get dirty! I like the light color--the bag doesn't heat up in the sun nearly as much, but setting it down, particularly in a wet/muddy situation will have it looking worn in no time.

Overall, I really like this bag for both it's modularity and comfort and think this is a good choice for those looking for a day hike/photo bag hybrid.

UPDATE: I've now had the bag several years and have taken it into the field many times including very hard/dirty/long trips to Costa Rica and Southern Thailand and the bag rocks. The straps are still holding up fine. The frame does continue to dig into my shoulders a bit but it's not bad. The tropics are what they are and it sucks carrying any amount of weight around in soggy wet conditions, but this bag makes it easier than most!

This is my 2nd Kata bag. I also own (and still use) a DR-466. I needed something larger to hold my 70-200 2.8 mounted or un-mounted that was also a daypack. I had looked at the quick access offerings (Fastpack 350, Aero 85, 3N1-33, Evolution 8) but decided that quick side access was not that big of a deal. For me, a light, comfortable daypack type bag with plenty of space for gear is what really mattered. I also felt like the quick access bags were just a tad shy on the space I was after.

I bought and returned and Aero 85, bought and returned a 3N1-33, considered the evolution 8, but kept coming back and eyeing this bag. I loved the space it offered and it appeared to be the highest performance as far as comfort (weight of pack, weight distribution, and air flow on my back). I also really liked the design. The one thing holding me back was the color. I looked for as many reviews as I could, and it appeared in some of them it was a little bit darker than the Kata produced images.

So... I ended up ordering it. I was really excited about what it could carry, the layout, and the comfort potential. After it arrived it did appear slightly darker, but not much. I immediately noticed the quality of materials and felt like I was in a different back pack/daypack league than I have ever been before.

So that was my thought process, this is what I think of the bag.

The color is fine and it's growing on me. It is light weight (until you load it of course). I am very extremely impressed how it distributes the weight and feels on my back. It is extremely comfortable and distributes the weight so well, it felt like I had much, much less gear in my bag. It felt that good on my back! My back did not get super hot like it has with other packs. You will still experience some warmth in certain temps, but that should be no surprise. But this bag is better than any I have ever owned (this is my 5th camera backpack).

The shoulder straps are super nice. I read some people are concerned, don't be. That same material I have had in one of their straps (can't remember what it is called, it was just a bag strap I bought a couple years ago for switching between shoulder bags and my 70-200 2.8 bag). Very nice straps, comfortable and they conform to your shape.

I don't care about the included camera strap. Nice idea if I use the loops for a camera I will modify something from the brands of straps I use.

Plenty of space throughout the bag. The top compartment is a nice size, plus the laptop sleeve is great for many things when not carrying a laptop. If your carrying a netbook then you have room for that and other stuff in that compartment.

The tripod mount is nicely done, blending in well and I like the side or back option.

Not sure what else to say, I am very impressed with this bag, glad I went for it, and am so glad I have it. I love the performance and functionality, as well as the layout and features. I personally would like an option for a slightly darker gray version, but it really is not that big of a deal.

Best Deals for Kata Bumblebee UL-222 Backpack -Gray

I've had this bag for about 2 weeks and used extensively on a recent field trip out of town with my daughter. I do have numerous camera bags, but I was looking for a travel bag that can double as a camera bag.

Things I like:

Ergonomics: The bag has many pockets allowing you to carry a large DSLR (Canon 1D series), including 4 lenses, one of which a 70-200 f/4.0, an additional PS camera, charger, extra batteries, laptop, and a small compartment for day travel. The harness does a great job at distributing the weight on your bag,

Ease of use: All pockets and compartment are easy to get to, the adjustable belts are easy and quick to adjust.

Capacity: See above

Padding: Very adequate.

Weight: feels extremely light.

Things I do not like:

Color: just ugly color, I prefer darker colors, and more rugged looking exterior (similar to the 3-N-1 series)

Space efficiency: The lower padded section can be removed and a zipper opened to connect both the top and bottom sections providing you with a larger space, however the combined space is not padded, ergo defeating the purpose. I was hoping to stow a small tripod along the the camera equipment, but that is not possible.

Tripod harness: A vented somewhat rugged looking pocket can be attached to the bag and act as tripod harness/carrier. From experience, you end up losing any additional accessories that are not permanently attached to the bag. It would ave been nicer to provide for a permanent tripod solution.

Size: The bag is actually larger than it seems from the pictures on the web, however it does hold a lot.

Overall I am pleased with the purchase and would recommend it. I am planning on using it for an oversea trip to carry 2 cameras, few lenses and small accesories.

Honest reviews on Kata Bumblebee UL-222 Backpack -Gray

Purchased the bag about 2 weeks ago. Just made a trip from Arizona to Taiwan. Very comfortable and well balanced bag. I am short so I did require some adjustment to get all belts into the right place. It will take a few trys but well worth the time. Best to load up the bag with most of the equipment while making the belt adjustment. One critical point, be sure to adjust the belt that controls the amount of slack between the backpack and soft cushion strap. Makes a big difference on the bag rides on the back.

Has the following in the bag:

Canon 5d2 (no grip), 70-200 F/4 IS, 24-105L, Sigma 50mm f/1.4, 580ex II, kenko extension tubes

Dell 15" laptop + power cord

Misc stuff for traveling and camera

There is still room for at least one more 6" lens.

No issue at all fitting the entire bag in the overhead compartment on Soutwest airline and Eva Airline. No issue with security regarding the Aluminum frame. Laptop was easy to pulled out and restored.

I did not have a tripod with me on this trip so I don't know how well the tripod holder works. Decided to put the monopod in the luggage instead.

Light weight, comfortable camera bag. Sturdy aluminum frame. Nice external pockets and attachment points. Large upper compartment for non-camera gear (jacket, snacks, etc). Well protected laptop sleeve. Camera gear compartment is 3 sections which hold many small & large lens, camera bodies, accessories. Well padded and internally re-arrangeable. A bit stiff to get into top of compartment and somewhat bulky from depth perspective. Cannot use external compression straps to reduce depth due to stiff compartment. Overall very good for base camp type travel....not so much for group touring.

I absolutely love the design of the bag, and how convenient it is to slip the camera in and out without taking it off. The straps are well thought and I can carry it while on a bike for example with no issues of it sliding sideways and being in the way.

Size wise, I can carry all the equipment I want in it, since it can easily fit camera plus 3 medium size lenses (one on the camera). If you have the small primes like the nifty fifty, you can probably fit 5 lenses. Personally, I carry a Canon T2i with the kit lens, a telephoto lens (not one of them big ones), a speedlite (this takes as much space as a lens), battery charger, filters, extra batteries, and everything fits very comfortably in so comfortably that I was wondering if the 6x would have been enough too. You can customize the compartments however you want depending on what you carry.

The best thing about it, which is why I got this instead of a backpack type is that the external total volume is small, so if I go travel I can just shove it in my main luggage without problems, and don't have to add another piece of luggage on planes.

Personally I like the brown color too, way more than the black/grey one. It doesn't stand out, but it also doesn't look so... well, gray. And it doesn't scream "expensive stuff inside" when you're travelling.

It performs pretty well in slight rain too, never had issues, but I wouldn't stay in it for too long, not even to test it out. The padding is not very thick, I don't know how well will it do in protecting your equipment, but if I ever have the misfortune to find out, I'll let you know. I haven't figure out how to attach a small tripod gracefully to it, so maybe that could be a future upgrade :)

UPDATE: upgraded my lenses and thought I'd share. I was using mostly small and cheap lenses, so my estimates were a bit off when it comes to the larger ones. The 70-200 f4 fits inside no problem without its hood, and right now I can put in 3 pretty large lenses in the bag, but a tight fit and no room for any hoods the other 2 are 77mm lenses and the hoods are pretty wide. Still my favorite bag for traveling and walking around.

When I went looking for a new bag to hold my new Rebel T2i with the 18-135 lens, I wanted something big enough to hold most of my normal carry-around gear, but not huge. Aside from not wanting the hassle of carrying anything bigger than normal I prefer not to be too obvious with my gear. Also, I was visiting in Denver and doing some hiking, so definitely wanted something that was comfortable to carry without bouncing around against me like my last bag always did.

After looking at a lot of bags, I picked this, and really love it after several months of use.

It is surprisingly comfortable to carry, either over one should, over an arm and neck, or slung around behind you. But it's quick to pull it around to get your camera out. It even has a waist strap you can use if you want. I haven't needed that yet, but I've put my monopod through that space as a handy way to carry it.

It fits the longer 18-135 lens, has lots of pockets and so forth for holding all the bits & pieces, and can even hold my charger, another lens, hood, etc. And the brown looks good.

There is a series of this bags in this Tamrac Velocity line, so pick the one that works for you. Take your camera and longest lens with your to pick the best fit)

I can fit into this my Sony SLT A57 with an attached lens, two additional lenses, a flash, and plenty of stuff up front. If I was so inclined I could attach their M.A.S. accessories to the sides to carry extra lenses, water bottles, filters, etc. I used it today for the first time and it was comfortable to have on. I walked about 3 to 4 miles in it and it was never bothersome. My only wish is that it had a way to strap my tripod to the bottom. I highly recommend this if you are considering a sling.

I like the bag. It fits everything nice and room for three lenses. The sling style makes for easy access to the camera. The only bad thing about the bag is that after a while of it being on one shoulder, that shoulder hurts. Switching to the other shoulder doesn't work because it is designed only to be used one way.

On a day tour? Snapping 4th of July fireworks? Need your important gear but in a safe, secure, waterproof, compact package? This is the bag for you. I was able to fit in d7000 with 50 prime on, 18-200 and sb700. i could have squeezed a tokina 100 if i wanted to and the bag did not look stuffed. added in remote release cable, remote, battery and cards. fits nicely over back. so compact, i love it. perfect for when you're traveling and want to stop at a nice place for dinner and meetup with friends for drinks and need to go out to snap good quality pics with your dslr and want to look cool and not lug your large camera backpack.

I bought this bag to use for day trips to the city as my only bag. I wanted a shoulder bag so that I could get my things out without taking the bag off (like a backpack). I didn't want something to fit a laptop in (this can't fit my 13" Macbook Pro) or use to take to school. I was getting around on the subway, by foot, and by bicycle, sometimes late at night. I wanted a small bag just for the essentials that didn't look like a camera bag.

If you have a lot of gear, this bag isn't for you. I used it to carry round a nikon d90 with 18-105 lens attached, a 750ml aluminium water bottle and a light parka rolled up tightly. That was snug (I only had one divider in), but I could still flick it round and yank the camera out in a flash. You could fit a DSLR and a couple of lenses in the main compartment if you wanted instead. I could also fit a book and some other bits and bobs in the zip compartments. When I'm not travelling I'll use it to carry a d90 with lens attached and two additional lenses.

To talk about something other than size, this bag is great. I've scraped it heaps and the scratches aren't obvious, the strap adjusts easily and all the zip compartments are accessible. The padding is consistent and there are two adjustable dividers. It looks stylish, inconspicuous, and is comfy to wear. One issue is that it isn't completely sealed (like any messenger bag) you won't get any rain getting in the main compartment, but if you went through a dust storm then dust would get everywhere.

I recommend this bag if you want something to carry your camera, a few small to medium sized accessories, and still not have a bulky bag that screams CAMERA. If you carry big teles (2.8 zooms), 3+ additional lenses/flashes or are an african safari explorer then look elsewhere. Likewise, if you want a bag to take to work with your camera, laptop, and papers in, then you should find something bigger.

This is an excellent bag if you want to carry a small kit around all day while not screaming photographer. I bought this bag mainly for street photography, I can carry a canon 5d mk2 with three lens; a 40mm pancake lens, a 50mm f1.4 and a 28mm f 1.8 plus a large flash. The front pocket is useful for extra items like memory cards and a spare battery. I think the size of this bag is just about perfect for what I bought it for, I can carry this gear all day long in this bag and it's compact size means it rarely gets in the way; and yet, for it's size it can carry quite a bit. It's not as padded as my Crumpler 7 million dollar home, but that is the price you pay for such a compact bag.

The bag is made of weatherproof durable material and I feel confident that in the event of light rain it should protect my gear quite well. That said this is definitely and bag for the urban environment, not the woods!

There is a small sleeve at the back that is quite tight but would probably fit an Ipad mini; If that's what floats your boat :) The length of the strap is easily adjustable using a cam type mechanism, that allows you change the length very quickly. I find this very useful as I can easily adjust the strap length to get most comfort if I have it on the shoulder or across the chest It's also great that you can quickly make the strap longer when you are working out of it as I often find that the optimal strap adjustment for carrying messenger bags is normally too short to comfortably work out of.

Anyone with an interest in street photography, who wants a discrete stylish bag and doesn't need to bring the kitchen sink with them, I can't recommend this bag enough!

Honest reviews on Acme Made AM00928 Union Photo Messenger Black

I purchased the Acme Made Union Photo Messenger a few weeks ago, it looked exactly what I wanted, which was a casual looking way to carry a DSLR and some gear. I have a Lowepro Passport Sling, which is a pretty good small carry bag, but frankly just has really awkward aesthetics, and not quite the layout I wanted. As soon as I unpacked the Union Photo Messenger out of the box I realized it was going back to Amazon. It's tiny. The pictures don't really give a good impression of just how small the bag is, but its really small. Much smaller than I was looking for. Its pretty much the size of a medium-large-ish womens purse, and is about 1/2 as thick as it is long, so the proportions are a little awkward.

Pros:

Very well made, nice materials used in it's construction

Looks good

Generally nice features, like the lens cap pocket, and the outside slash pocket on the flap

Cons:

Simply too small and purse-like

Proportions are slightly awkward, it's almost 1/2 as thick as it is long.

Padding is built into the bag, and only the dividers are removable, so it doesn't work as well as a stand-alone messenger bag.

I returned this item and bought a Timbuktu The Snoop photo messenger (size small)Timbuk2 The Snoop Camera Messenger Bag and am really happy with it. It has a great layout, a removable insert and is definitely a better size.
