My wife calls me the Imelda Marcos of camera bags. I have so many cluttering ManLand because I could not find the perfect bag. Then I saw this one in a local camera store. It has everything I need for my sometimes extensive business travel space for my laptop, work papers, my iPad, and for my camera(s) and lenses. A famous photographer once stated, "I always carry a camera with me. It's hard to shoot photographs without it." That's me I have a camera with me at all times, even commuting to and from work. This bag makes it easy with the 12 padded sections in the main compartment. I've customized it to be able to carry my Nikon D300s, it's battery pack, three lenses, My filter pouch and step down adapter rings, and a wireless remote shutter release. Now I carry everything in one bag and it is compact enough to fit in the overhead bins on planes. Remember that local camera store I mentioned? They were asking well over $350 for this bag. Glad I waited to shop online I paid a little over $200 on Amazon. Now I can advertise my Tamracs and National Geographic bags on eBay!!!

This Pelican soft case seems very sturdy and should last for years to come. I wanted black but was oh surprised of how handsome the forrest green with leather trim looks. Plus everybody has black :0).

It has enough room for my camera, lenses and accessories with room to grow and I can slip the laptop in with no problems.

Over all a great buy.

Love this bag. I can safely carry what ever camera gear I want for a business trip and my laptop and business paper. Great for carry on. I have this bag from cost to cost and Europe. I have brought big lenses and film and digital bodies. No problems at all, much pbetter than the large Lowe Pro back back that I was using.

Very good construction quality. I like the way it is easily configurable to one's needs. No complaints so far. I almost bought it from a local photography store, but thought I'd better check on-line first. Very glad I did. I literally paid half of what they were asking.

I bought this case for my new Panasonic Lumix camera, and it fits perfectly. It's hard-sided, comes complete with a carbiner to attach to a belt loop or whatever, and has a pocket that holds multiple memory cards (I carry 4 with me). It's a great buy, and I'm thrilled with it.

This case has no carrying strap. It does come with one of those metal clip on things but I would prefer a strap. My Lumix TS20 fits ok on the one side with the velcro strap and I was hoping the camera battery charger could fit on the other side that has a mesh net kind of thing but it's too small for both items. For some reason the case smells awful and I am leaving it outside in a covered area hoping the smell goes away. I did not pay much for it so I will be keeping it and making it work. However, item is as described but smaller than I thought. It also has a hard shell.

Honest reviews on Gtmax Premium Digital Camera Pouch Carrying Case - Purple

I got a new smaller digital camera for a trip and while I did get a bag to keep the camera and its accessories in, it didn't have as much padding as I was hoping. I wanted to find a hard shell case to keep the camera in not only when traveling, but also when I'm out and about taking pictures (so I wouldn't always have to carry the larger bag). This works beautifully for that purpose! Not only does my camera fit (Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS19), but there's even a velcro strap that holds the camera in place inside the case so when you open it, it can't fall out on the ground. Helpful for me as I tend to sometimes be a fumble fingers. The case has a carbiner clip so you can attach it to a belt or strap and a double zipper closure so the camera's wrist strap can be left outside the case making it easy to carry when not in use. It fits nicely inside the larger case and gives me peace of mind that it's much better protected. And I LOVE the color.

The Dolica Sling Backpack is an attractive well-made sling backpack. Unfortunately I did not find the pack very comfortable given the equipment I had in the pack and the pack's fitting characteristics.

Since I already own the similar-in-function Amazon Basics Sling Backpack , AmazonBasics Sling Backpack for SLR Cameras (Black), I had a good point of reference for comparison. The bottom line after using the Dolica backpack for several weeks is that I got greater usability out of the Amazon Basics Sling Backpack. It was more comfortable to wear and my camera/essential gear fit better in it.

The Dolica certainly has some great features. I like the variety of zippered pockets, particularly the large exterior pocket that was able to hold my rather large Nikon 80-200 f2.8 lens. That lens measures 8.5 inches in length. A lens any longer than that would not fit in the side compartment. This compartment is also good for a larger flash unit, or a number of larger accessories instead of a large single item like a large lens. I like the three grab handles that are placed on the backpack and I also like the bright orange interiors of the compartments. The bright color assists you in seeing what's inside the compartments.

The main compartment is a largish, zippered, flip-open compartment. Inside is a neoprene sling attached to the body with velcro that enables you to reposition it somewhat or remove it completely if you wish. Unfortunately I was not able to fit my Nikon D300 with attached Nikon 15-55 f2.8 lens in the sling without first removing the lens hood, This was inconvenient. After removing the lens hood, the camera and lens fit nicely.

I was also not able to fit my Nikon D300 with attached 80-200 f2.8 into the main compartment. Nor was I able to fit my D300 with attached battery pack and with any lens into the main compartment. With that combination there was simply not enough volume in the compartment to fit the camera or to zipper it closed. With the Amazon Basics Sling Backpack, I was able to stow my D300 and battery pack with attached 15-55 f2.8 and lens hood no problem.

The Dolica has three additional, smaller compartments. One of these compartments is on the front side of the main compartment. Another compartment is on the side of the main compartment and has two small mesh sleeves in addition to enough space for a smart phone or similar sized something or other. Finally there is a compartment on the strap and this could also hold a smartphone, small point and shoot camera, batteries or a couple energy bars.

The shoulder strap was nicely padded and quite wide but it just didn't feel comfortable on me when the backpack was fully loaded with my large lens plus camera & attached lens. The shoulder strap in the backpack position put a lot of pressure on the front of my shoulder while there was a large gap between my back and the pack itself. This could not be reduced no matter how tightly I tried to adjust the shoulder strap. And since the pack is not actually centered on your back, I felt unbalanced as more weight was on my right hip.

The sling backpack has a large and wide shoulder strap plus a nylon waist/shoulder strap (depending on whether the pack is in front or in the backpack position) that attaches to the backpack. An adjustable nylon strap with buckle connects the two shoulder pads together. A feature that is touted for the Dolica Sling Backpack is the ease with which you can slide the pack from a backpack orientation to a front facing position. It was easy to make that transition without removing the pack from my shoulder.

A problem I had was the repeated loosening of the nylon strap used for the securing the tripod to the backpack. I'd tighten the strap, and within seconds it would loosen itself simply by the weight of the tripod. And when the sling backpack was in true backpack position, the tripod was always tipping downward and on several occasions fell out of it's harness. Obviously this is not a desirable thing to happen when you are hiking with your camera gear.

Although the Dolica sling backpack had a much more appealing appearance than the more utilitarian Amazon Basics sling backpack, beauty is only skin deep and for my usage the Amazon Basics had inner beauty that resulted in a more useable solution for my needs.

Photographers with smaller body DLSR's, shorter lenses or for a camcorder, point and shoot and extras, the Dolica Sling Backpack may fit your needs nicely. It is certainly a beautifully constructed sling backpack. But for my particular equipment needs and preferences it didn't meet my expectations.

I was provided a sample of this product for review from Dolica.

Why to them pro photographers carry so much gear when they go out on a shooting expedition? The short answer is 'because they can'. And they can because instead of little camera bags that only have room for a camera and maybe a couple of pockets for some small accessories they use much roomier, ergonomically designed and cool looking bags such as this one by Dolica that come with compartments for the camera itself and many extra compartments and pockets for literally almost everything else that one may need besides it. But let me discuss this in a more organized fashion.

CAPACITY

Dolica's backpack's main compartment should accommodate most DSLR cameras. Our Alpha, lens attached, felt right at home inside and I can't think of any mainstream model that wouldn't.

The second compartment is large enough to hold a telephoto lens or a flash. Then there is a smaller compartment actually on the shoulder strap where you could store a cell phone or a small digital camera. Add to the above three more zippered pockets, one with a couple of inner clear mesh sub-pockets, attached to the bag's main body and there you have room for your cleaning kit, charger and charging cables, batteries, memory cards.

But wait... there's more. Can't go out shooting without a tripod and you can strap one in and there is even a pocket to prevent the tripod's spiky ends from causing any problems.

ERGONOMICS

Photographers don't travel light but, to my surprise, Dolica's bag is designed in such a way that the burden is a lot easier to carry and endure than I expected. It's basically the design of a baby sling with a wide, padded shoulder strap that allows you to carry the pack on your back when walking and to quickly move it in a position where the camera compartment is right in front, easy to access with all other pockets and compartments within easy reach.

I've loaded the bag with everything my camera needed, including a small tripod and kept it on for the past couple of hours. I still have the bag on while I'm sitting down and writing this review (removed the tripod) and I'm comfortable writing, camera and accessories on my back and I can slide the bag to the front 'shooting' position in about half a second. My shoulders or my back do not hurt and my hands are free to type.

PROTECTION

As I expected, the main camera compartment was designed to keep 'the precious' out of harms way as much as possible. There is thick padding on the top, stuffing the outside pockets should add some extra cushioning and there is an adjustable 'neoprene suspension hammock camera holder' that basically keeps the camera suspended in the air inside the padded bag and should be most effective on vertical drops.

And then there's, of course, protection afforded the photographer, especially his or her back and shoulders. The shoulder strap is extra wide and both it and the back of the pack are padded with some soft material that's quite effective and I'm saying it's so because I've been keeping this on my back for at least three hours how.

LOOKS

If 'looking like a pro' is one objective when shopping for a camera bag, then this one clearly fits the bill. It looks professional and complex even though I found that a few minutes of getting acquainted with Dolica's SB-015RD (nice, name) was all it took for me to learn how to wear it and how to quickly get to the various compartments and pockets.

The model that I'm reviewing is grey and red on the exterior and 'red' is a good color for me because I sometimes go out shooting in the woods it's where I live and most game here is not red. The interior is grey and orange and that's not a bad idea because whenever you see 'orange' you can tell that there's a pocket that you forgot to zip up.

CONCLUSIONS

I didn't attach any scores to the categories above because they are all superlatives. This is a well thought, well designed, well made product, made by people who clearly understand not only 'photography' but photographers too. It keeps equipment safe, easily accessible and as easy to carry as ergonomically possible.

It's a 5-star and it's so not because I was given this review unit for free this is never a consideration when I write reviews but because Amazon's five stars stand for 'I love it' and that's exactly how I feel about this product.

This Camera Case is super cute! My daughter loves it, and it even holds her cellphone. But for being marked as a new product, we were a tad bit disappointed when it had a little scuff mark on it (that was really obvious on this white camera case) that would not come off. Thats the only reason im giving it 4 stars instead of 5.

I found this case to be just what I was looking for. It is small enough to fit in my purse, but large enough to hold camera, an extra xcard, and spare batteries. My camera was protected as we traveled overseas, but it was easy to pull it out for any picture moments we encountered.

I know that this is for a small camera and believe me it travels very well and fit im most spaces, but I find that though I had a small camera I needed more space for picture cards and batteries. I had to cut down a multiple card clip to fit into the case. This was the only way to keep track of what picture cards we used. I like the case, but will be looking for a somewhat larger one with more room for pic cards etc. I think anyone traveling and using their camera alot would need more space.

although the main part of the case in which my camera resides is useful, I was dismayed when I received it as the strap had one clip broken and the first time I opened and closed the additional pocket, the zipper broke. The only reason I have not returned it for a new one is that the cost of shipping would make it too expensive.

Wife really liked the case. She will use it with her new Leica camera and carry it when she visits Germany.

This is a great looking and high quality leather case for the Leica V-LUX 20 camera; if this is what you are looking for, and are willing to pay a very high price point, get it be aware this case costs about 25% of the actual camera.

On the other hand there is no room for a spare SDHC card, batter or small lens cleaning cloth, is not weatherproof for $169 IMO it is definitely not worth the freight if you are planning travel or long days' shooting with your camera . I'd rather recommend a quality Lowepro or similar case that is cheaper, more weathertight, has better padding and offers sufficient storage for a battery or two, a spare photo card and a cleaning cloth or chamois.

A very good backpack I allways buy Tamrac.

As a pro you need a good bag and Tamrac is the best!

Honest reviews on Tamrac 5256 Black CyberPack 6 Photo/Laptop Backpack (Black)

I bought this photo backpack back in 2005 and it's still going strong. I am an outdoor photographer and this has seen all kinds of weather from snow storms to 100 degree temperatures not too mention I did not baby this bag (although, I probably should of because of all my expensive gear inside).

Bottom line well worth every penny I paid. If I ever do need another photo backpack (which I highly doubt because this one is so good) I will buy TAMRAC. To any budding photographers out there I will recommend TAMRAC. If there is one downside to this pack the laptop compartment is fairly small (I was only able to get an old 15 inch laptop inside.) My current 16 inch will not fit. However, I did not buy this pack to lug around my laptop. That's what my laptop case is for!

Bottom line...Tamrac is simply the best!

I purchased this backpack about 5 years ago. Its still going strong. I'm a photographer and videographer, so I carry a lot of gear. There's a lot of compartmens, and the main compartment is configruable. Like another reviewer said, you've got to have a storng back to carry this bag when it's fully loaded. It's great for travel. It does draw attention from the TSA when flying, but I don't mind, since it can be carried on the plane. I wouldn't want to check my gear and risk losing it. It's well worth the price.

I'm really enjoying my Fuji X10. I figured a custom case would be nice for it. The build quality of this case is certainly very high.

The issue I have with this case is that the base "cradle" part has no locking or any way of connecting to the camera. The camera just slides onto it. If you use the neck strap, then the strap lugs help hold the camera to the cradle. I hate neck straps. When just using the camera and case cradle, they can completely separate.

I think it's a poor design. The base of the case cradle should screw into the tripod threads of the camera or something that keeps the two tightly together.

I have since returned the item.

Click Here For Most Helpful Customer Reviews >>

This case is very well made and provides good protection for the excellent Fujifilm X10. It's all leather (including most of the strap) and lined with a soft suede that both protects and pampers your expensive camera.

Two small complaints though. First, the X10 is a fairly substantial compact camera and this case makes it larger still. I use my X10 as a replacement for my DSLRs when I don't want to carry all the bulk, and the X10 in the case is nearly as big as (say) a Leica M9. You can leave the top cover off and just use the body part of the camera, but that leaves your expensive X10 halfway exposed.

Other small complaint is that I'd like to have a small wrist strap with the case in addition to the longer neck strap. Including a small wrist strap would make the bulky case that much better, since the strap is quite a handful on its own.

Otherwise, it's a great case and worthy accessory for the wonderful X10.

Best Deals for Fujifilm Leather Case X10 for Digital Camera

When used with the included leather strap, the bottom has side snaps that loop around the two strap lugs and hold the camera just fine. It is very nicely finished both inside and out and will prevent scratches to your X10. The top uses a hidden magnet to allow very quick access to the camera. The color is a nice match with the glossy black fX10 finish. I have used the Fuji X100 case (which is identical) and it has held up very well and shows no sign of failure. I gave it four stars due to the price but that seems to be a common downside to all Fuji accessories.

Update Dec 16 2011;

I still find the design very appropriate for the X10. The quick detach allows you to access the battery and memory card very quickly. I do not believe a case that attaches through the tripod mount would be any good. In use, the design is very good. I do not use neck straps but a wrist strap and have had no problems with the case coming off on its own.

Honest reviews on Fujifilm Leather Case X10 for Digital Camera

I like how the Fujifilm X10 looks and enjoy taking pictures with it. The leather case for X10 from FujiFilm certainly looks good and suits well with the camera. The case is well constructed and even the leather strap that comes with the case is of higher quality than the one that comes with the camera. Also the case the offers good protection and coverage to the camera.

Here's the problem. I always use the lens hood. And the top half of the case doesn't fit the camera with the lens hood on. So if I want to use the full case, I would have to take the hood off every time. That's a lot of trouble.

And then its the access to the battery/memory card compartment. The lower half case covers the compartment door and you will need to take the case off in order to access the battery and the memory card. So every single time you need to download photo (via the memory card) or access the battery, you will have to take the lower half case off. That's quite a bit of trouble.

Though the case looks good and protects well. I ended up replacing it with a half case that I can access the compartment door without removing the case from the camera. And use a camera wrap to protect the camera while its in my bag.

Its a nice case, but not what I wanted.

Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Fujifilm Leather Case X10 for Digital Camera

The Fuji case fir the camera is really well made. However, the big problem is the design. Unlike other cases, when opened, the fold down portion is not attached in a convenient way to the rest of the case. It just snaps on. The problem is it falls off all the time since it is not fastened to the rest of the cast when opened and you have no place to put it. This is very annoying. Anyway, the camera is great. However, more thought should have been given to the case design.

I was looking for the smallest bag possible for a Canon Rebel T3. Took this bag to the zoo to see how it works. I strapped the bag over my neck and under my right arm. Wore it for 5 1/2 hours straight while walking around with kids, pushing a stroller, hiking up hills (for southern Californians, I was at San Diego's Safrari Park, you know those hills!). I am sensitive to things touching my neck but the strap on this bag did not bother me at all, nor did i have any marks on my neck afterwards. It would be better if it had a padded strap, though.

The camera can be shoved into the bag with its shoulder strap hanging out and the bag left unzipped if you want quick access to the camera, it will not fall out. I kept the camera strapped over my neck with the same over the shoulder arrangement as the bag and adjusted the straps on both the camera and the bag so that the camera was output was partially in the bag while I walked. This kept it somewhat protected but still easily accessible. I don't think I would have been happy trying to pull it out and shoved back in every time I wanted to snap a picture of the kids. Kids and animals move fast, can't be spending time pulling the camera out of a tight fit. On the other hand I did not want a bigger bag as I am short and dont want to lug a big bag around while putting my toddler in and out of the stroller and helping my preschool age child in the bathroom at an amusement park or zoo so this size is perfect for me, but better for someone with a bridge size camera than a DSLR. I only had the 18-55 lens on, forget a bigger lens or else use the bag for the bigger lens and keep the camera strapped on your shoulder and neck.

Yes you can put the camera with the small lens on in the bag with the shoulder strap neatly folded over at the top and still zip the bag closed and unzip it and get it out. I did things the way I did for faster access, maybe someone more coordinated would have no problems.

The front pocket is nice, and I can fit a spare memory card, money, I'd and credit card and cell phone in with the camera in the bag. The side pockets are open but have tight elastic and I used it for my cell phone which stuck out above the pocket but never was in danger of slipping out despite the mother duties described above. Keys can fit in the other side pocket.

The padding is basic, not a hard bottom, adequate padding for my needs but not for someone who is worried about their camera. The strap holders are heavy duty plastic d rings and solid snaps on the strap. The top handle is heavy duty as wel and the zippers work fine, no shoddy construction here. Material feels as of it would be somewhat waterproof.

Conclusion, overall great, well built bag, can fit a Canon Rebel T3 but I don't know if my husband's larger Nikon D70 and D5000 would fit or not (can't try right now but can update)

This would have been perfect but it was just a touch too small. I couldn't fit my Canon 60D in it. I think I needed about 1/2 inch wider in each direction. Too bad, seems like a sturdy case. It is nice an compact and could be attached nicely to a backpack which is what I purchased it for.

I got this as a gift for my husband, and he was very happy. The seems to be well made and looks pretty durable. It has plenty of compartments to carry accessories such as memory cards. I would recommend this product; I was not disappointed with my purchase.

Honest reviews on Lowepro Adventura TLZ 15 Toploading Camera Bag

While the bag seems well made, it is too small to accommodate a Nikon D3100 with the 18-55 mm kit lens and a shoulder strap attached. The camera barely fit with the camera's shoulder strap removed, but it's obviously unworkable to have to remove the shoulder strap from the camera each time.

The Panasonic Lumix DMC FZ-35 fits well in this bag along with all the accessories and an additional battery. If it were an inch or so longer, all the accessories would fit on the floor without any stacking. Be forewarned that the bag has an annoying chemical smell which pretty much dissipated after I aired it outside for several hours before using it. Other than that, it's a good value. Also, in case it helps anyone, the bag's external dimensions are 6-3/4" X 4" X 6-3/4".

I needed a bag for my GE X500, and wanted something small. This bag fits the bill nicely, and could not have been any more reasonably priced. It's a keeper.

Honest reviews on Zeikos ZE-CA38B Deluxe Soft Small Camera and Video Bag

The GE Power Pro X500 (SLR Style camera) & my Flip both fit nicely into this padded bag. I put the adjustable velco divider in beween the two and have room for extra batteries & cleaning cloth on the side with the Flip. The medium sized bag would have been too large. The zipper is on the cheapy side but I'm just careful when zipping. I gave it 5 stars even with the cheap zipper because afterall, it was less than 5 bucks with free shipping.

This is first class storage option for all my hard drives. The foam inside, that can be tailored to fit almost any equipment is an excellent system. Dust proof, water proof and robust enough to take on long transit flights with no damage. In fact it worked so well I have now bought other cases for all my computer equipment, first class.

I bought this specifically for a goPro camera and accessories. I like it very much. See picture of equipment mounted in case.

I have a 400$ camera that I wanted to take hunting and out on the boats. I can take this along and not worry about bumps and spash. I can also throw it in my soft luggage and not worry about the luggage apes. It is large enought to carry my carger and some extra batteries and SD cards. Just take out some of the foan in the area needing to be filled. The color makes it easy to find in a hurray when someone catches a fish or falls overboard :)

I bought my Pelican 1150 to hold my Panasonic FZ200 camera. It is just barely deep enough for my camera. I tested it in the kitchen sink, it is bone dry after holding with the seal 6" under water for 20 minutes. I'm an avid whitewater kayaker and I was looking for the smallest possible waterproof box for my camera.

Reviews of Tenba 638-251 Messenger Removable Photo Insert (Black)

Tenba 638-251 Messenger Removable Photo Insert

Like most of the reviewers here, I bought the Tenba insert to convert a messenger bag for photo use. And, indeed, it does exactly what it is designed to do, quickly transforming my messengers into photo bags.

MESSENGERS IT FIT

Basically it fits any messenger bag with an interior 9 inches tall and 13 inches wide or larger. For the best fit, I recommend a bag with an extra inch or more of height beyond the insert so the bag flap may close without being overly tight. It fit okay in my old Banana Republic canvas messenger, Timbuk2 classic messenger (small & medium), Crumpler Barney and Domke J-803. It fits the Domke J-803 so perfectly snug you'd think it was designed for that bag. Although it fit the Timbuk2 classic small bag, I found the insert a little too bulky and tall. It's loose as a goose in the medium Timbuk2, leaving plenty of room for a windbreaker, water, monopod, etc. Although the Crumpler Barney is about the same side as the Timbuk2 classic small, it's taller so the insert lays nicely inside, allowing the top flap to fold naturally.

FITTING IN GEAR

First, this is not a product for gear hounds. It holds just enough for a light packing shooter: gripless DSLR, couple medium lenses and flash. So my 7D and 17-55 2.8 IS USM fit nicely in the center with lens pointing down, 70-200 4L IS USM on one side and Speedlite 430EX on the other side. The 7D will fit with 70-200 mounted but it sticks up a little beyond the edge of the insert. Not a problem if your bag extends beyond the insert an extra inch or so.

SIZE & CONSTRUCTION

The Amazon description is spare and omits most details including dimensions. I measured the interior of the insert and it is about 13W X 9H X 4.25D inches and a featherlight 0.4 lb. The insert is flexible and can adjust to slightly smaller or larger bags and still fit reasonably well. I checked Tenba's website and, strangely enough, it claims the insert interior is 13"W x 8"H x 5 to 8"D. Obviously the height and depth are wrong unless they recently redesigned the insert. Without stretching or flexing, it measures about 4.5 inches in depth at dead center. It will easily flex outwards a couple inches in the center, making room for any DSLR save for pro models (e.g., EOS 1D series) or models with accessory battery grips. The padding is less than 1/4 inch thick but is dense closed cell foam, so it affords good protection from light knocks. It's on the stiff side and doesn't mold to body shape as easily as I'd like.

The fabric is gray lightweight nylon with thick velcro patches sewn along the walls to attach dividers. The fit and finish are very good, with no crooked seams, loose threads or exposed innards.

NITPICKS

Oddly the product title lists it as black but mine is gray just like the product image. The top 2.75 inches of the interior lack velcro, so you can't lock down tall divider flaps. The nylon is tough and easy to clean but I prefer soft brushed fabrics. Not only is soft material more gear friendly, but positioning of dividers is more flexible since velcro can stick anywhere. Also, this insert is not a good choice for a tote bag or backpack since it lacks a top cover. The Timbuk2, Crumpler and Billingham inserts all have a lid and the soft-brushed-velcro-can-stick-anywhere fabric. Of course those inserts cost 2 to 3 times more, so for $20 I shouldn't whine too much. The bottom line is the Tenba design works well in most messengers, is very well made and is an amazing value for only $20.

ABOUT THE AMAZON PRICE

As of April 2013, the full list price of this item on the Tenba Website is $21.95. I bought mine at B&H for well under $20 last year so you might want to shop around if the Amazon price drifts too far above $20 (I observed it ranging from $20 to $30).

I bought this so I wouldn't have to lug around a camera bag. I use this mostly in a messenger bags and despite the "messenger bag" explicitly in the title of the product, I have used it in a couple of back packs as well. With the adjustable dividers, it can fit your gear as it changes.

I bought this for a Canon 5D II, and a couple of lenses originally. But as my lens collection grew, including a 70-200mm zoom this bag was adjusted and fit them all and the camera (attached to the 70-200)*.

The only minor issue is that when I bought a grip for the 5D, I could no longer fit it efficiently in the bag. I either had to detach any attached lens, or detach the grip. You can still get it to fit without doing those two things, but then the insert starts bulging out and subsequently so does the whatever bag you have it in.

Padding is good. Not super thick, but it's on the bottom too and I haven't had issue with gear damage.

*the footnote here is that when I attached the 70-200 to the camera, I'd insert it lens down, and in doing so, the camera would be a bit proud of the top of the bag. Fine for my purposes, but if you're looking for more solid protection, this may not be your best option. I mean, there is enough room to but the lens and camera in sideways, but then you're really limiting what else you can put in the bag.

OK I've rambled on enough. Hope you find this useful.

The insert was larger than expected. I checked the dimensions against my messenger bag so I already knew that it would fit. What I didn't know was how snug it would fit.

This insert fits perfectly with a Chrome Corsair bag.

The insert had enough room for a zoom lens, a flash, a 50mm lens in the center compartment and the camera with lens attached. Don't expect to carry everything you have with this bag. This is perfect for shooting on the go where you don't want to walk around with your camera exposed yet you want the camera in an easily accessible area.

Honest reviews on Tenba 638-251 Messenger Removable Photo Insert (Black)

NOTEThe Insert is actually gray, not black as listed in the product description.

I purchased this insert from another supplier when Amazon was out of stock (these inserts can be in short supply at times). It was purchased specifically for my Domke 701-82S F-802 Reporter's Satchel -Sand, which does not come with any insert, but is the best bag for my day to day needs of carrying work items (file folders, magazine, glasses, keys, phone, pad, pens, etc) as well as a small kit of photo gear (Nikon D300s-no grip, Nikon 85mm f/1.8, Nikon 50mm f/1.4, Tokina 12-24 f/2.8, and a Nikon SB-900 or SB-700). This insert is a perfect fit and solution. Having been a big fan of Tenba quality and design, I was very familiar with their inserts. I sold off my Tenba (and Lowepro) gear a while ago as I went more retro and simplistic with Domke gear, which I find fits my changing needs better. However, Domke does not necessarily have the best insert solutions for my needs (I use a Ciesta Flexible Camera Insert Partition for DSLR SLR Lens (Brown / Medium) (large version though) with my Domke F-2).

The insert is extremely high quality and far more padded than Domke inserts (closed cell dense foam compared to Domke open cell light foam). Of course, in contrast to Domke inserts, the better padding also adds more bulk and reduces flexibility of the insert (Domke inserts can be bent every which way and actually mold itself to a compartment for example). So, like with all photographic gear, you have a trade-off. However, in the case of the Domke F-802 (or even the F-803), there is no better solution. The insert also easily fit into my friends Timbuk2 medium sized messenger bag, with room left over (in main compartment) for other gearit's just not a perfect fit like with the Domke F-802.

Like another reviewer noted (PK Frary)the Amazon description left a lot to be desired. Add to that, many product listings for inserts (and bags) do not provide accurate dimensions anyway, and it can become frustrating to select a solution without trying it first. I measured the interior dimensions at approximately 13W X 9H X 4.5D inches with a weight of less than 1/2 pound. The insert does provide limited flexibility and will fit slightly smaller dimensions. The build quality of the inserts is among the best I have seen. Though the insert provides some flexibility and will fit slightly smaller compartment dimensions, the insert can stand on its own even when loaded with gear. This is a nice feature if you need to remove your gear to carry other items for example.

The velcro positioning of the dividers is limited since the insert interior is nylon. Even so, I was able to fit a Nikon D300s with a Nikon 85mm mounted face down in the middle, a Nikon 50mm f/1.4, Nikon 85mm f/1.8, a Speedlight, remote release, and misc items. The camera is always in the ready position and is very quickly taken out.

The insert is much taller then I expected but it comfortably supports my T1i with a battery pack and has space for 1 extra lens AND has place for wires, chargers etc. You could easily fit 2 extra lenses along with a camera with 18-55 lens.

I have put this insert into a Timbuk2 medium bag and it fits comfortably and leaves a little space for a light jacket and a bottle of water (if you want to put a filled bottle with your camera that is your choice, the place is there).

I would buy this again or recommend it to anyone
