I wanted to take my camera equipment with me on an Ozark canoe float weekend, but needed a sturdy waterproof case to protect it against bumps and (especially) water. I ordered this case, and have been completely satisfied. I had no trouble customizing the foam padding to accommodate my Canon EOS Digital Rebel XTi, a 100mm macro lens, a 18-55mm zoom lens, a 75-300mm zoom lens, a couple of spare batteries, two watches, and my car keys for this trip! The fully loaded case floated high in the water when I tested it. The latches took a fair amount of effort to open and close, but this was actually pretty reassuring when risking expensive equipment on the water. It opened and closed easily enough for me to manage while sitting in a canoe on a moving river without losing my paddle or my fishing rod. All of my camera equipment stayed dry and undamaged after spending two full days on the river. Had my canoe overturned, I have no doubt that my equipment would have been fine. That said, I should have bought the orange or yellow version rather than the black one as it would have been easier to find had I had such an accident.

Like other Pelican cases I've owned this thing is built like a tank. The new latches are nice, it's still a very solid operation to latch and unlatch the lid, but a bit easier now. The pluck-apart foam is great, makes for a very clean looking cavity to place your equipment.

I got this case for my Nikon D60 based on a review of a 1200 in a different color that said it fit the D40 (which is the same size as the D60). It's a perfect fit in the horizontal directions, but I do wish it was a half inch taller, as the D60 pretty much compresses the foam all the way when closing the lid. Nikon lists the height of the D60 as 3.7" and Pelican lists the interior height of the 1200 as 4.12"

Of course that's not a defect with the case, I could have gone for the 1300 which is almost the same size in the horizontal directions but 2" taller. Or the 1400 which is 1.5 2.5" larger in the horizontal dimensions and 1" taller. But my mom has the 1300 for her Canon XTi and it seems quite bulky, so I think the 1200 was the right choice. Pelican's are rock solid so I don't worry about the case getting crushed and squishing the camera.

I got 2 of these as 'travel' cases for my handguns. It comes with pre-cut foam that you can shape as the top layer, and another foam layer at the bottom. Even before I could use these for the purpose I got them for, the Northeast got hit by a major storm and I ended up using this as my 'emergency' go-case since it is waterproof. I ended up storing my iPhone, wallet, glow sticks, extra batteries, and LED flashlight in it. I actually never got to use it (luckily) but I had the confidence after reading all the reviews (on Amazon and other places).

For the handguns, it fits a glock with one mag in the gun and one mag outside it is fairly compact so don't expect to fit a lot more in it... maybe can put a couple of glow sticks but that's about it. But the nice thing is that it fits in backpacks and can be locked (for the states with weird gun-travel laws).

All in all, satisfied so far.

I purchased the Pelican 1400 before a weeklong river trip in the Grand Canyon. I had originally ordered a 1500 put that proved too bulky. This case holds 2, yes 2 DSLRs. I have my Nikon d7000 and my backup d60 both with lenses attached. If you cut the foam properly you can fit both, each with a lens, and leave a couple slots for filters, batteries, and memory cards.

I bought the 1200 case with foam to house a medium frame Glock handgun. For the most part, I use it as a locking transport case, paired with a standard size keyed lock such as this one: Master Lock 140D Solid Brass Keyed Different Padlock with 1-9/16-Inch Wide Body, 1/4-Inch Shackle.The pick and pluck foam made it super easy to create a custom fit. For size reference, I'm able to fit the Glock plus two ten round magazines (with the magazines stacked) with extra cushion between everything. In terms of sturdiness and quality, you simply can't beat what Pelican offers. These are the best hard cases on the market.

The official photos and descriptions on Amazon and the Lowepro site don't provide a complete picture of the similarities and differences between the two bags. Hopefully this review/description will help clear things up:

I ordered the Lowepro 250 AW and was sent a standard Lowepro 250 by accident. The standard bag receives high marks everywhere you look, so I kept the standard model and re-ordered the 250 AW to compare and contrast. Notes are below:

SIMILARITIES

Total camera storage space in the bottom segment is the same.

Both camera compartments have speed access: side zippers that allow you to pull your arm out of the right shoulder strap, sling the bag around on your left shoulder, and then unzip only a small portion of the camera compartment to remove the body and attached lens (without exposing the rest of your camera gear).

Velcro segments to configure the camera compartment is around the same though the AW comes with one longer/skinner segment apparently designed to horizontally separate a compartment for two microphones

Storage in the top segment is the same.

Contruction materials/quality appear to the same.

DIFFERENCES

SHOULDER STRAPS

250: One strap has a built-in "cell phone" pouch (albeit a very small pouch would hold a large pocket knife/leatherman tool. The other strap has an elastic loop into which you can insert other Lowepro pouches for holding additional gear.

AW: No pouches or pouch holders instead, a plastic D ring is on each strap for carabiners, etc...

WAIST STRAPS

250: Has a couple inches of padding on each side before the strap for theoretically more comfort. Straps cannot be tucked away

AW: Straps are attached directly to the bag no padding to "ease" the transition. Pockets on the bag allow you to stash the straps out of the way if you don't want/need them

STERNUM STRAPS

250: None

AW: Included. Are vertically adjustable on each side for comfort

SIDES OF PACK

250: Open weave mesh pouch with elasticized compression cord on one side; zippered pouch on the other. No tripod pouch.

AW: closed weave mesh pouch on one side. Below this pouch is a tripod pouch that can be pulled out when needed and tucked away when not needed. No zippered pouch on opposite side

TOP COMPARMENT

250: Exteior of the compartment has a zippered pocket for holding relatively flat items like manuals. Interior has two small Velcro-covered pockets for various items and a two pen pockets. Approximately a 3x5 elasticized mesh pocket.

AW: Exteior of the compartment has a zippered pocket for holding relatively flat items like manuals. Compression straps are attached to both sides of the exterior of this compartment to keep things strapped down (including a tripod on one side). Interior of compartment has one flat pocket (for a manual, map or something flat) with no Velcro closures. A clear plastic business card-sized pocket for business card/ID tag. A slightly larger elasticized mesh pocket than the 250. A zippered pocket in the back of the this compartment (again, flatter items only). An elastic strap at the bottom of this compartment holds down a removable gear pouch. The interior of this zippered gear pouch has 5 elastic loops for keeping cords organized as well as 3 plastic "popsicle sticks" that slide in the loops that prevent your cables from becoming tangled. (I'm sure there's a technical term for this, but I'm not a photographer). The interior also includes 2 small pockets. The exterior of the removed pouch has a zippered pocket.

CAMERA COMPARTMENT

250: A flap with zippered pocket covers most of the camera compartment it attaches to the backpack with two straps. When you open the camera compartment, two small Velcro pockets (sized to hold memory cards) are attached to the "lid".

AW: no flap just a strap to prevent you from opening the camera compartment too far if using the speed access (see above under "similarities"). When you open the camera compartment, two small Velcro pockets (sized to hold memory cards) are attached to the "lid".

COMPUTER COMPARTMENT

250: Side access only (same side as the speed access zippers for the camera compartment)

AW: Zippers cover the top half of the bag for top access/limited side access. I can't measure the interior of the computer pocket, but it "feels" bigger perhaps because of the top access)

RAIN COVER

250: none.

AW: Built in. Can be tucked away to the underside of the bag.

I ultimately went with the AW model, primarily for the tripod holder. Though I won't be taking video equipment, I'll use the small bag in the top compartment to store cords iPhone/iPad charger, etc...It was a tough choice, though I am not a videographer and therefore didn't need the removable gear bag in the top compartment. Since I liked some of the design features/exterior pockets on the standard 250 model, I was considering going with the standard model and then purchasing a sternum strap and rain cover separately.

The bottom line is you have two good options depending on your needs, which I guess is why Lowepro is selling to variations of the "same" bag.

This is a great backpack altogether. Here are some gripes:

1. When fully loaded with a tripod, it might be heavier than is practical to carry. The backpack itself is quite hefty, weighing in at almost 4 pounds EMPTY. The comparable Fastpack 250 is about 0.5lb lighter

2. The area allocated to holding your camera and lens is a bit tight for my taste. If I have a wide angle lens mounted (eg. 82mm ring size) the fit is tight enough that taking the camera out causes the zoom to extend. That's probably not so great for the lens. I also have a Cokin P mount on my lens at times, and this makes it an even tighter fit sometimes I worry it will break the holder in the process of taking it in and out. All this can be solved by removing the adjacent partitions, but then what's the point of getting this backpack if not for all the lens carrying capacity? I'm sure the 350AW would work better in this regard because it's roomier, but then you have an even BIGGER backpack! Take a look at the picture here with the backpack open and loaded with a camera if you don't understand this particular concern

3. The camera can only be accessed from the LEFT side when the pack hangs off your left shoulder. If you are left-handed, this might feel unnatural to you or be annoying to folks who prefer to hang their backpack on their right shoulder instead of their left

Here is what I liked:

1. Unlike the comparable Fastpack 250, it has a tripod holder, weather cover built in, and it has chest straps

2. It is well-padded both for your back and equipment

3. There are a lot of little pockets, many zippered or velcro'd to hold little odds and ends

4. There is plenty of room for my 17" HP laptop. This pack is rated to hold a 15" laptop and the 350 AW is supposed to be the one to get for a 17". But I can tell you that the 250 AW had the room without problems. Don't get the bigger pack just to hold your bigger laptop.

5. Without a tripod hanging off it, the pack is not very conspicuous to would-be camera-thieves

Overall, an excellent pack with key improvements over the slightly older model: Fastpack 250. I recommend it.

I absolutely love this bag. I can't really find any faults with it. It is perfect for those like me that only have a couple of lenses. It has a sturdy build, great assortment of pockets, and is comfortable to wear. I have a Canon T2i and have a 50mm and 17-40mm lens that fit in the camera section perfectly, along with space for my charger, hood, extra batteries, and laptop cord. What I really love about the bag is that it has a section for carry other items besides camera stuff. All my friends that have bags can only fit camera stuff, which works for them because they have a lot of gear. However, I wanted a bag that could fit my gear and other things because I want to use it for traveling and this was the best one that I found from my research. There aren't really a lot out there and I didn't want to get one of those small shoulder camera bags.

It also fits well under the seat on a plane. The other feature I love is the fact that it doesn't look like a camera bag. It is pretty plain looking and I'm even considering putting a patch over the Lowepro logo to make it look even less like a camera bag. It is nice that the logo is black already.

A few other features I really appreciate is the built-in weather cover, the fact that it stands upright when you put it on the floor, and the ability to tuck away the waist strap, which was a big reason I bought this bag over the Lowepro Fastpack 250.

I highly recommend this bag and can't say enough good about it. It has everything you could ask for, plus it look great.

So I was looking for a bag that I could take on a trip to Washington DC and I had a few qualifications:

1) would have to make it through airports as a carry on bag, and stow under the seat in front of me on the plane

2) Would hold at least my laptop (Macbook Pro) and possibly an iPad

3) Carry my Canon 7D and a lens or two, plus charger and a few CF cards

4) Carry misc cables, phone charger, incredicharge 11000, and a few other knick knacks

This bag fit the bill perfectly. It carried a 7D with Tamron 28-75 2.8 mounted, along with a 50 1.8, and a 430EX flash, along with the camera charger and CF cards in the bottom portion which carries the camera stuff. I probably could have mounted my 70-200 2.8, and brought the 28-75 and 50mm, but I didn't think I would need the larger zoom for walking around.

In the laptop section, I slid the macbook pro AND the iPad Bonus!

In the upper section (the video section), I carried the Macbook plug, iPad charger, incredicharge 11000 backup battery, phone charger, some headphones, and a few other misc items. Needless to say it was packed full. I also slipped in a Kingston USB3 card reader in the zipper pouch portion on the top video section.

Now carrying this load all day, and I mean from about 9a 7pm, it was a ton to lug around. The bag ended up being heavy and full VERY full, but even being heavy I was still able to swing it around and grab the camera from the stowaway area without taking it off completely which made it convenient while seeing the sites. I honestly will probably ditch my other bags in favor of this one, however will probably leave the laptop and other gear in the hotel room next time we go out and about.

One quick note, I was going to purchase this from Amazon, but ended up with last minute travel requirements so I went to a local store and paid the same price. Nothing against Amazon, just would not have gotten it in time.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program The search for top quality all purpose travel gear that can protect my cameras and laptop ends with this Lowepro backpack. It offers prime time durability and protection. Not only is this bag a workhorse, it offers several customizable solutions for storage of my gear.

The camera compartment measures in at 10.24" x 5.51" x 9.65" and easily accommodates my DSLR. I had my worries about storage space for my 15" laptop. The top loading laptop compartment provides just the right amount of real estate at 11.42" x 1.38" x 15.75". The roomy front compartment measures 6.69" x .079" x 9.25". Exterior dimensions are 12.99" x 9.84" x 18.70". Empty weight is just under four pounds. I was able to carry two extra lenses not including my camera mounted one, accessories and my laptop with no storage nightmares.

The padded dividers are first rate and allow for easy customization.The quality of the exterior nylon black body is great. Unlike many knockoffs out there, the stitching job is superb. The zippers are first rate. The side entry pocket is sweet. With a quick rotation I've got my hands on my camera gear. I like the removable utility pouch. I primarily use it for storing cables and anything else that happens to find its way in there.

Lowepro's signature hide away, all weather cover is still one of the best. It does a great job of keeping my gear dry and stores back into its compartment without complications. The padding on the nylon shoulder straps is very comfortable. The foldout tripod holder and strap are definitely a welcome addition. I'm not a big fan of any backpack waist belt system but this one is better then most. The gusseted side pocket is alright for temporary storage but nothing more. A more secure option would have been better. The carry handle has a great feel.

The overall quality and versatility of this bag speaks for itself. Its not just a bag for DSLR cameras by any means. It easily accommodates my laptop, tablet, and host of other items. For air travel, I found out first hand that its the perfect carry on. When on board the plane I had zero problems with under the seat storage. With a limited lifetime warranty this Lowepro bag is definitely built to last. I highly recommend it.

I was looking for a compact case for the Canon S90. I was hoping for a belt loop (with "quick release" -so that I wouldn't have to take off my belt to remove the case), a snug (but not overly restrictive) fit, waterproofedness, and a small overall size. I had considered several options, including Kata, Lowepro, Mountainsmith, and Case Logic cases, but ultimately found this one to be the smallest one that still fit my requirements (at the time -note that my purchase was in 2009). I posted a review of this case on POTN, but I'm not sure if I can post a link here. Comment below if you want more details, or Google "tenba mixx s90 tigerotor77w."

Pros:

+ Compact size overall. It'll fit comfortably in a jacket pocket.

+ Keeps the S90 secure. With a velcro flap and an elastic "lip" around the top, the S90 falling out isn't very likely.

+ Construction is excellent. No frayed threads, secure velcro, solid-sounding clasps for the belt-loop.

+ Room for an extra battery or memory card.

+ Integrates well with my Tenba Messenger via the belt loop.

+ Matches all my requirements (see second sentence of review)

Cons:

A little bit squarer than it is rectangular, so there is some extra room in the sleeve holding the S90. The case is thus also slightly larger than it "needs" to be for this camera.

The elastic isn't "tight," but it does constrict the opening of the case enough that you won't be able to "quick draw" the S90. A snug fit has its disadvantages, too.

Overall, I'm very pleased with the case. I admit that I tend to use an Oakley microfiber bag instead of this one most of the time (for jeans pocket carry), but any time I plan to go on an extended outing (hiking, say, or if I want to leave the camera in a work bag for just-in-case shots), I've been using this one. Definitely a solid choice!

I was shocked when th Camera pouch arrived. I guess I should have paid more attention to the size!! Product Dimensions: 1.2 x 4.2 x 3.2 inches. It's barely big enough to get my car key and car door lock remote in. I have never seen a camera small enough to fit into this case, although I'm sure they must make one out there that would!

It looks to be of reasonable quality of a nylon type fabric with velcro closure.

I already own a couple of camera bags of differing sizes, but I ordered this one to take on a trip to Cambodia, Vietnam, and Thailand to carry carry camera gear as well as my tablet computer, which saves me one bag. Let me first address what this bag is NOT. This is not some sort of magic steamer chest into which you can pour tons of gear and have it weigh nothing if that is what you are looking for buy a steamer chest and a trolley. You won't be able to put every cable, charger, manual, filter and so on for both your laptop and camera gear into this bag however that is not it's intended purpose.

What this bag IS good for is as a day bag to carry your essential gear for the day, while leaving the various support paraphenalia in your hotel/base camp/whatever. It will happilly carry a DSLR with lens attached (in my case a Canon Eos 60D with EF-S 50-135mm lens), as well as two other lenses (in mine there's an EF-S 10-22 wide angle and an EF 50mm prime) and a laptop up to 15" (I use a Motorola Xoom) in an interior pocket, as well as a few filters. It has elastic pockets on either side near the base which could be used for (relativley slim) water bottles, however I use one for my small-ish (4' when extended) tripod along with the supplied shock cord "bungee" to attach the tripod to a loop near the top. If you wish to carry an external flash you'll need to either sacrifice one of your lenses or have it floating around free in the bag. My Canon Speedlite 430 is too long to fit into the lens "bays" without the camera sitting on it so I elected to have it floating loose inside the bag, in it's pouch of course. The front pocket of the bag is fairly small but I'm able to fit the cables, camera charger, and remote shutter into it as well as maybe a couple of biros, however I don't intend to be carrying these when out and about. Two minor things this bag lacks is somewhere appropriate to secure a decent size flash, and a couple of dedicated pockets for memory cards. I'm considering having a bungee of some sort attached internally to keep the flash from bouncing around will make it one step closer to perfect.

The bag itself appears to be ruggedly constructed of quite tough material and although it lacks a rain cover it appears to be reasonably water resistant, at least enough to keep your gear dry for a few minutes in a shower while you look for someplace under cover. Waterproof to ten metres it's not, but again that's not the purpose of this bag. Stitching appears to be strong, the shoulder straps are padded and back of it has three firm pads to cushion it against your back. I've put more gear in it than I will actually take, and with a 6kg load it feels quite light and comfortable on my back. It's adequately padded all around to protect your gear from normal knocks and bumps. The zippers are a little stiff when new but they may loosen up with use stiff zippers are not such a bad thing when trying to get through a crowded market place in a third world country while you carry gear worth four years local wages behind you either, and it's for that reason that I shall probably be removing the little cord "tags" attached to the zippers. As well as the two shoulder straps for using as a back pack the bag also has a handle at the top (great for getting in and out of cars, airports, and so on) as well as what appears to be a camera strap with some decent plastic clips that can be attached to wear the bag as a sling bag. The main bag opening covers about 2/3 of "back" and curving up to the top, with the flap opening downwards. The camera and lens compartments are in the lower 1/3 of the bag so it can be opened standing on it's base or lieing on it's back without gear falling out. The base itself is the same tough nylon material with some sort of stiffening behind it, but lacks any hard feet or similar to stand on so it may not stand up well to being dragged about, however how often does one need to drag a small backback?

One thing I found frustrating about purchasing this from Amazon (and it's not really Amazon's fault) is the lack of images online. Amazon have used the images supplied by the manufacturer, and they only supply three external images and no internal ones at all (even on their own website). If this was a regular backpack that would be fine as the inside would just be empty space, but as a camera bag I really wanted to see the internal compartments and pockets so that I could imagine where my gear would fit, and even better if there were internal images showing "typical" DSLR gear in it, as many other manufacturers do.

Overall while this is not the "be all and end all, ultimate computer and camera bag" it certainly fills a purpose. There's no such thing as a "perfect-for-all-occasions bag", which is why so many of us end up with several bags. If you wish to carry a normal amount of gear and a small laptop for a few hours before returning to your main base this is a great option as it leaves your hands free while keeping your gear close. Be careful who's standing behind you, don't stand still too long, and consider some small padlocks on the zippers if you'll be in crowded areas, as this is a weakness of all backpack type camera bags.

COSMOS Black PU Leather Case Cover Bag For Pentax Q 02 Standard Review

Got this a few days ago, and it was surprisingly well made. It fits the Pentax Q with 02 zoom snugly, and the nice stiff, thick lined leather seems like it would protect the camera quite well. I don't have any of the other zooms to see if they fit, but I'd imagine the 06 and 01 would fit without too much trouble. It didn't have a bad smell.

However, a couple of issues. The first point is that the 1/4" tripod mount screw is quite tight and is difficult to properly tighten down. The second, a major point, is that the sides of the case completely block the battery and SD card doors; you need to undo the (tight and difficult) tripod screw to get at them.

So, as long as you don't need to change the battery or replace the card it's a fine case..... but for the average user (who will run through at least one SD card or one battery a day) it's going to be awfully frustrating.

Fits great, and looks sharp. Easy to snap on/off, and doesn't present any real stumbling blocks.

I like it better than zippered cases. They might be better in some ways as protection, but this has a nostalgic look to it, and as I grew up in a 35mm world, I like it. Wish I could find some similar cases for my K5, and canon sx 40hs.

I use the strap that came with the camera though, didn't really care much for the strap included with the case, but that is just my take on it, others can do their thing.

Nice, solid construction, that matches an M9 perfectly. It is what you would expect given it's a Leica build at a Leica price. I bought this to facilitate composition, and it definitely does help in this regard. In particular, this handgrip makes it easier for me to take level photos without the grip I am usually a few degrees crooked one way or the other. There is also a less-pronounced impact on my ability to take longer-exposure photos hand-held. Aside from being very helpful with composition and shooting, this grip makes general handling of an M9 a much more secure process whether taking your camera in/out of a bag, walking with it in a crowd, etc., it just adds a lot of reassurance while using it.

The item is built well as one would expect from Leica. Matches my M9 nicely. Too bad, I have to give up the leather case I got for my M9. I wish they built a leather case that can accommodate this handgrip.

First of all, this bag is pretty darn big. I plan on using it as a day bag for trips, but only because I'm the type of guy that travels with several lenses. It holds my Canon 7D body with five lenses, including the huge 70-200 2.8 IS. I'm also able to squeeze in an extra body in there if I need it. Of course, this will make the bag weigh a TON, but that's why you bought a big bag, right? I haven't even tried to stuff my laptop in there, for fear my shoulder will fall off.

The saving grace of the bag weight is the handle on top. It's such a nice feature that more bags should adopt. It's really nice to be able to grab the top of the bag by the handle when I need to shift positions for any reason (like getting in and out of seats or cars). It also helps for when I just want to pick the bag up off the floor and quickly move it somewhere. An A+ feature that more bags should have.

The other huge feature of this bag is the easy access top zipper. To many bags require me to open the whole flap to one side just to get at my equipment. The easy access top zipper makes lens swapping a breeze.

The only gripe (the reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5) I will give is the shoulder strap padding. I wish it was the type of pad that I could slide back and forth. Instead, the padding is in a fixed position. For a guy like me who is constantly shifting bags around to make them more comfortable, this is kind of annoying. That being said, the strap is perfectly usable, and I do use it.

All in all it's by far the most versatile bag I've found. I didn't even get to mention the fact that you can buy additional add-on accessories that will clip onto the sides of the bag (for stuff like filter and bottle holders). I actually plan on rigging one of the side-loops as a tripod holder (the only feature missing from this bag).

So, the bottom line--if your shoulder can handle it, you won't regret it.

I required a bag that doesn't tell everyone that there is expensive camera equipment inside. I shoot in the city and try to avoid putting a target on my back. The bag is beautifully crafted, understated and well designed for quick/easy access without having to set it down. This allows be to get to the gear on the fly which keeps me mobile and safe. Love the bag.

I cover events and almost always take 2 cameras and usualy only 2 lenses. When I start shooting I just wanted to be able to grab my camera and get started. The bag I had I could get everything into as long as I dismounted the lenses from the cameras. Which I don't like to do.

With the Classified I no longer have to do so. Both cameras with lenses fit into the bag with lenses attached. So my trusty 24-105 and 70-200 are always mounted on my cameras (7D/40D) and ready to go.

I even have room to carry a couple of other lenses and a flash now.

As always I find that Lowepro bags are very well made and very sturdy. I had occasion to use the rain cover last night and really appreciated having it.

In my search for a more "executive looking" camera bag for my travles, I found the Classified 250 AW Shoulder Bag. From the pictures and reviews I was stoked and immediately picked it up (love messenger bag type camera bags).

After receiving the product I was less enthusiastic, this thing is HUGE. The pictures really do not do it justice with regards to how big this thing actually is. You're not going to run out of space for keeping lenses or larger full frame DSLR's however it comes at a drastic cost. The thing by itself weighs quite a bit and once you put in all your gear it weighs a whole lot more.

The construction of the bag is nothing to scoff at which I was happy with but the size really did not make me happy. What's worse is that the strap they provided was not comfortable at all given the size and weight this thing would end up being with all the gear in it.

The dividers worked well providing lots of flexible space and the look is definitely sweet, but the sheer size and weight killed the deal for me to have this bag be great on travels.

Provides nice cushion to my camera without adding too much extra bulk. Also very non-descript case even with the words Sony on it so it's not an obvious camera case which I loved during my trips. After being tossed around a lot and on a few international trips, the materials is starting to "pebble" up some, but just a little... not too annoying yet.

In the past, I've owned a few el cheapo varsions of this item which cost 1/2-1/3 of the price (notably the style currently seen at some of the big box retailers). It is worth spending a little more $ to get the real thing. These boxes are fantastic at keeping your gear dry and protected. I had the closure on one of my boxes finally give out, but that was only after several years of service and abuse.

I am extremely satisfied with a tip I recently saw under another customer's product picture: The Pelican 1010-026-100 Micro Case fits the Panasonic DMC-ZS3 camera just perfectly!

Because of another review, I was a bit worried about the clear lid, which doesn't have extra protection inside, but the camera is very snug and secure in the case, it doesn't wiggle at all.

Now I am looking forward to my next air travel, when the camera is clearly visible for security personnel at the checkpoint, because overseas I often had to remove my cameras from their bags. This case should speed up the check-through significantly!

My use for the 1010 was to weatherproof an alarm keypad. I spray painted the inside, in order to hide the keypad from view. The assembly is mounted next to my garage side entry door, and is used to un-latch the door or the gate to the backyard (Via the automation controller).

Before starting the project, I contacted the manufacturer regarding possible long term UV damage; I was told that their enclosures have been used for years in similar outdoor applications.

The pad has been exposed to the elements for over five years without failure (There is some slight yellowing). An identical keypad mounted on the front porch, without the box, failed after 4 years.

The case indeed is a good fit for my Fujifilm x20, and is pretty smartly designed.

I had some issues that I was pretty unhappy with though:

• The construction of the case itself is not great quality—the part that covers the lens is coming apart on mine after only a few days of light use, and the faux leather is wrinkling in spots.

• The product description did not make it clear that this case actually screws into the camera {where a tripod would}—and if you don't screw it on, it scrapes up the bottom of your camera. I find it pretty awkward to use the camera when it's attached to the case, so for me this feature is a bummer.

• It's definitely also not a case you can use one handed—if you want your camera, you need to drop everything else in your hands to get it out or manipulate the case so you can use it. It's not great if you tend to spontaneously reach for your camera and need it to be usable quickly.

That being said, it does its primary job of protecting the camera fairly well, and is on the low end of the price spectrum for cases, so I'm going to hang on to mine while I look for something better.
