Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program This is a very well-made portable digital camera case (or, as others have mentioned, can be used for GPS units as well), and I was impressed with the OUTER sturdiness of it. Where it was lacking, in my opinion, is the lack of padding (equating to protection), on the INSIDE. While there is an elastic belt that holds the camera in place, I thought there could have been a LOT more inside padding to protect the camera in case of a fall without sacrificing interior space. There's virtually NO padding on the inside wall that the body of the camera rests against when it is strapped in, or on the opposite wall, for that matter.

I'm not sure if a strapped-in camera would be safe from shock/breakage or dents even with the sturdy outside design in a lengthy fall. I'm sure it would be fine if the case/camera fell from arm's length to the ground, but not so sure in the outdoors, and wonder why they simply didn't add more padding on both inside walls to protect the camera.

Other than that, it's a matter of personal preference whether you like a thin or thicker neck strap (I prefer a thinner but stronger one), and all-in-all, this no-frills camera case IS well made, with a convenient belt-loop, compartment to hold a few memory cards, and as previously mentioned, very sturdy outside shell. Before use, for extra protection and peace of mind, using double-sided tape, I would place a small, cut-to-fit piece of bubble wrap on the inside wall that the camera is strapped up against, going up the divider (which is padded, but not sufficiently in my opinion), especially if an expensive portable digital camera is what's inside.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program When I recieved the Lowepro Santiago 30 Camera Case, I was already certain it was going to be a case of exceptional quality, as Lowepro camera cases have always been. This particular case is no exception, with the same sturdy construction as their larger professional camera bags. This particular compact camera case features a hard shell covered in a rugged material, two-way zippers, and very soft protective interior lining. It features both a belt loop and a shoulder strap for a choice in carry style. There is an interior pocket that is perfect for holding spare batteries, memory cards, similar necessities. The two halves of this clamshell style case are held together by side panel wings that prevent the pouch from opening too far when unzipped, avoiding any accidents of anything falling out unexpectedly. This is a very well thought out and sturdy design for a compact point & shoot camera, perfect those who stay on the go or venture into less than hospitable places where a camera could use the extra protection against knock and bumps.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program Fits my CANON point and shoot camera AND it's battery charger.

it has a belt loop and a spagetti string strap to carry it, but i don't use either. It's perfect for storing your camera or other electronic device when travelling (in a suitcase) or placing with other items in a carryall. It adds very little weight, yet it provides solid semi-rigid protection for your device. What else would you expect from the most popular case company for cameras...

Honest reviews on Lowepro Santiago 30 Camera Case - Black

I got this for a Canon G11, which is a large point and shoot camera. It's a snug fit when you try to cram in a neck strap along with the camera. No room for anything else. But a large P&S was my choice, so no criticism as to size. If you have a small camera or device, size shouldn't be a problem.

But:

(1) The earlier reviewer is right: No padding whatsoever on the inside. I would not want to drop it more than 6 inches to a hard surface with a camera inside.

(2) It is not a hard-sided case as advertised. The material is stiff, but flexible. Your camera is in jeopardy if someone sits or steps on it.

(3) The zipper closure is a scratch risk. Unless I'm very slow and careful, pulling the camera out inevitably drags the camera body across the zipper.

I won't be using this for my G11 or any camera. I'd give it two stars on its merits, but the price is attractive, so three.

Stash your point-and-shoot digital camera (or, as others have mentioned, a compact GPS) into this case. Then either hang it around your neck OR loop it through your belt (or other strap of your choice); you'll have only yourself to blame when you lose or damage your gear by some other means.

This is sturdy, clamshell-style case with very rigid corners. It's softer towards its center, and while it probably wouldn't stand up to be running over by a car, it will certainly take the strain of being tucked inside a bag, jostled around the inside of a vehicle, or bouncing through ups and downs of a day trip. Lowepro shows the same level of quality in an under-$20 product as it does in its more expensive items.

The zipper enclosure operates smoothly. An interior pocket provides extra snugness for smaller cameras, and an elastic strap can retain a miscellaneous item or two. This case easily held an Olympus Stylus Tough 6020 camera, an iPod nano, Sony earbuds and a USB cable (see the user images). It also held the same camera and an AC charging adapter, but the arrangement for this was awkward due to the bulk of the adapter.

Obviously not as compact as soft cases, when you choose this model you are making a conscious decision of choosing added protection over portability, since this won't fit in any standard size shirt or pants pocket.

After careful comparison of many cases, I bought this remarkably-rugged, well-designed case (includes 2 inside pockets for cables, memory cards, etc plus 2 outside zippered pockets for spare batteries, more cables, etc). It's ample interior is well-cushioned & is very-softly lined to protect your camera. My mid-sized Nikon L820 120X zoom camera (30X optical/ 4X digital) with 1080p video* fits perfectly in this handsome, strong, lightweight case that amazon sells for under $10 (about 1/3rd what very similar "name-brand" cases cost)! You'll be delighted with it!!!

A note of caution: this superb medium-sized case is NOT made to carry large DSLRs along with their separate telephoto or wide-angle lenses).

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program The dimensions shown in the product description are the exterior dimensions. If you want to know if your camera will fit, you need the interior dimensions, which are approximately 5.5" wide x 2.5" deep x 5.0" tall. The case is soft and can flex somewhat, so may fit a camera that is slightly larger in some areas. If your camera fits, this is an OK bag for the price. Padding is minimal, but that also makes the bag smaller and lighter weight. There are a couple of small pockets on the side for batteries or memory cards or cables, but you can't put anything too big in there or it will eat into your interior space. The bag has a belt loop on the back if you want to wrap it around your belt. There is also a removable shoulder strap. This isn't a great cameras bag, but you can't expect too much for this price.

Nice bag for the price. Suggested to me by Amazon when considering to purchase a DMC-FZ200 Panasonic Digital Camera. Bought camera elsewhere but bought case from Amazon. Turns out case is a bit small, tight, for my FZ200. Decided to keep case and use for a smaller device.

Honest reviews on AmazonBasics Fixed Zoom/Compact System Camera Case (Gray Interior)

ITEM IS MADE IN CHINA

I seen some people review this case as being to small for a cannon sx 50. It is a real tight fit I never owned a high dollar-ed camera so I wasn't sure how it was supposed to fit. The pic on amazon show the camera facing down and it barely fit, I guess this is okay so there isn't to much rattling around. The pic also show one small pocket inside the rear on the case and two other interior side pockets. The two interior pockets are not there for this model, the rear pocket is and it only can hold the instruction manual and that's it no mas. It does have two outer pocket one pocket holds the battery charger and the other side can hold a extra battery. The side that holds the battery charger probably cannot hold anything else real tight fit. The other side holding the extra battery can hold something else about the size of the battery. There is webbing in that pocket that I put my extra memory card but its really not built for that, Its ok to store the card there but I would make sure you had a case for that card. If you want a small compact case this is it, oh there is some padding on the case but it seems kind of thin on the bottom of the case. Would of gave it a 4 if the the pic for the interior of the case was correct.

I TRY TO BUY AMERICAN BUT ITS HARD

It's a nice little case and Amazon recommended it for my FujiFilm Finepix HS50EXR but when it arrived it was far too small for this camera.

This camera has a fairly large, almost SLR sized body so it needs a larger case. Kudos to Amazon though as they refunded me without having to return it.

The case that was delivered is not the case in the photos. The design is very similar, but the logo on the zipper is definitely not. Also, the screen protector was not included, despite it being advertised as such. These discrepancies aside, the case works, and protects the camera well enough.

Gear Tie Reusable Rubber Twist Ties from Nite Ize are perfect for temporarily wrapping up cords of appliances, computer equipment, or electronics (eg, headphones). And I do mean PERFECT! The flexibility is just right (flexible but firm) and the rubber coating is excellent... and there are some nice colors too.

I use them for tying up cords for my iPod headphones, rice maker, steam iron, computer cables, and about 100 other annoying electric cords found around the house. This is wonderful because the cords become neat little bundles that can easily be untied and used, and then tied up again, with ease. Cords of counterand desktop appliances no longer have cords hanging around. Headphone cables no longer become a tangled mess. Look around, I'll bet you can count 50 cords that could be tied up.

I say these ties are for temporary use because they are designed to be tied and untied, a million times or so. If you want to permanently tie your cords it's probably better, and surely cheaper, to use good old cable ties (sometimes called zip ties).

How about length? The 3 inch version is perfect for wrapping up iPod headphone or other VERY small cables. You'll be surprised how big (ie, circumference) a bundled cord can be so be careful with the 3 inch. This 6 inch version is just right for wrapping cords of coffee makers, lamps, and perhaps thinner vacuums and so forth. There's an 18 inch version that I've used in the garage for thick extension cords, cords from circular saws, and so forth.

I suppose the downsize is the cost. They are not dirt cheap. But for me the cost is dwarfed by the benefit.

I'm just so mad I didn't "invent" these!

Click Here For Most Helpful Customer Reviews >>

I have not had them for a long time yet so I don't know about long term durability. So far though, I love them. I have several sizes and use them for all sorts of things. Even though they are called "gear ties" they can be used to prop things up and hold objects in a pinch. I use them as a sort of "extra hands" all the time. I've even propped up my phone or tablet on occasion. I've used them in my craft projects when I couldn't find anything else that would hold an item "just so" for me. Let's not forget though, they do work very well holding your gear together. I like that both bright and sober colors are available, depending upon what you need them for. I would not recommend them for cord control as they are just too expensive to get all that you need to do a good job. There are other products much more suited to that. Keep a couple with you. You won't be sorry.

Absoultely a wonderful idea. It works wonders to keep my cords clamped and organized! Just a bit expensive, made in america though so I'm ok with that.

Honest reviews on Nite Ize GT32-2PK-12 32-Inch Gear Tie, Pink, 2-Pack

Before finding these Nite Ize rubber twist ties, I had always used velcro wire ties for my computer cables. These are much easier and much more adaptable than a velcro wire tie.

I recieved this package deal and everything is as expected. I went for this because I like the bag and did not have a tripod at all. The bag is of very good quality and I am confident that it will serve me well. I can fit my t3i and a 250mm lens in the main compartment nicely and it seems very well protected. you could also fit a decent size lens in the 2nd section, two lenses in fact if you don't mind them touching and rubbing on each other (which I'm not sure I wanna tempt fate). Any of the other pockets are kind of small and would only hold a few things that are skinny such as cards and filters. It is comfortable to wear and the sling design is very handy, not having to remove the bag to use it. I thought this bag would suit me as I have only my t3i and 2 lenses but basically I boxed myself in. I am getting another lens soon (50mm) and will now have to think about what I want to pack. The tripod is what I expected, cheap and somewhat flimsy. It was only a few bucks more to get the tripod so I figured I'd try. I'm not sure I'm confortable trusting this with $900 on top of it. I think I may use this as a hiking tripod (it's very light) with limited use. I will be getting a better tripod soon as well.

This bag is great for what it is, though I think one more lens pocket would go a loooooong way. The sling design is fantastically usefull and it feels solid. One day I will have a bag that can hold more gear and this will make a nice "moving around" bag. I suggest you skip the tripod though. So If you want a good bag that halds a camera +2 lenses (one on the body, one in the pouch) then this is a good one.

The products arrived quickly. I did not like the way the camera bag fit when put over my shoulder. The waist strap was so high it felt awkward. I ended up returning the kit for this reason. The tripod seemed good for a beginner. Definitely takes a lot of time to lock legs into place at height you want so I could see how if wanting to use this on trips or for quicker shots this would get real annoying. For a beginner it would be a nice tripod to practice with if you aren't ready to spend more money.

Think Tank Photo CityWalker 20 Messenger Bag
Customer Ratings: 5 stars

I got the CityWalker 20 for a forthcoming trip to Japan and Tanzania, distributing my camera gear between the two (electronics are mostly in the backpack). The CityWalker is carrying my Nikon D7000 + 80-400 mm lens, tablet, spare batteries and memory cards (in a Hakuba case) and personal stuff. On either side of it, there are compartments that can fit a camera body, flash, compact camera, lenses or personal belongings.

There are also other compartments: two interior, unpadded lateral ones with velcro tab closures; a front one, expandable, right inside the flap, also with a velcro tab closure and dividers for business cards, pens and other small items; a zippered big one behind the camera insert; another zippered compartment on the outside of the flap; a dedicated tablet slot; and a slip-in compartment (for maps and whatsuch) on the back of the bag. There is also space on either side of the camera insert, which can be juggled with the lateral compartments in case a taller item needs to be fitted inside the bag.

The bag is very well made and incredibly light when empty. I like it that the camera insert can be removed, turning the CityWalker into something that can double as a [large] handbag. The carrying strap is very comfortable, allowing for precise height adjustment. And the bag comes with a rain cover.

However, there are some -in my view -flaws:

1. Although the D7000 + 80-400 fits nicely in the insert, it is taller than the insert. However, there is no padding on the flap, leaving the camera back a little too unprotected for my liking. If I don't bang the bag around and don't drop it, it should be okay. In a photo in the Thinktankphoto website the 70-200 lens is taller than the insert, so I'm pretty sure the manufacturer thought of this possibility beforehand (I could have gone for a CityWalker 30, but it is HUGE -and I am not).

2. My Samsung Note 10.1 will NOT fit in it with the sleeve -the slot is just a tiny bit too narrow. The solution, obviously, was to remove the sleeve... which isn't the ideal solution if you want to prop the tablet up, etc. I resolved this by sticking the sleeve in the big compartment in the back of the bag (I wouldn't want to carry the tablet there, because it'll bang against my hip).

3. I don't like the closure of the front expandable compartment. I can see things falling from it, especially because if you put too much stuff in it and use the velcro silencers, the only closure in use will be central clip.

Overall, I like the CityWalker 20 and think it will work well for my needs.

January 9, 2013, update. After traveling with the CityWalker for over a month, I have a few more comments.

This bag went with me on planes, in the field, in towns -meaning that it was tested beyond its "urban" (that's where it got its name from, not?) conception. And then it didn't do so well.

Its greatest pitfall is that it is too easy to get this bag REALLY full. And this is NOT a good thing, for two reasons:

1. The front flap is a hazard. When the bag is full and the flap is closed, it will leave gaps on either side of the bag, ie the flap doesn't cover the bag's sides. Two things can happen: this makes it easy for someone to stick their hand into the bag (something that could happen in an urban environment, crowds, etc.) or; small items can fall out. Exactly what happened to me when the bag tipped over in the backseat of a car and three batteries fell out. I only found out hours later, when looking for the batteries to charge them. Luckily, the car belonged to my bird guide, who next morning found the batteries amongst his stuff on the seat. This event made me change the way I packed the CityWalker, arranging smaller items in the bottom and always covering them with something (like a bag full of cables).

2. When the bag is full and it rains, the rain cover will not cover it completely! This happened to me as well, and it was very annoying. You sit there and stretch and pull and rearrange and it simply isn't large enough. Add that to the clips from hell (plastic thingies that are supposed to hook to the bag's straps to keep the rain cover in place, but won't because they are so stiff there is no way a normal human being can get them to open. I nearly had finger cramps and those things never budged), and the rain experience with the CityWalker is anything but positive.

So I'm thinking that the next time I go on a crazy trip the CityWalker won't be my choice. For a dry day out in town photographing, it will work fine.

As does 10.

In this case I bought the City Walker 30 first and my review on that bag has been completed and readable elsewhere on this site.

Yes I am a Think Tank photo bag fan.

Both bags purchased for low light, fast glass lenses but will fit everything from soup to nuts and perhaps a small body too. I really felt that the City Walker 10 would not do a proper job for me.

The Think Tank City Walker 20 holds everything from my Canon 5d Mark III, 24-105mm f4, 15mm fisheye, 70-200 f2.8, the new Canon 600 Speedlite, filters, batteries, wipes (both antibacterial and lens), pens, rocket blower, lens brush, Zoom recorder for notes and an assortment of other necessary photo excess. This and a light weight carbon fiber tripod and head and I'm set for most usual circumstances.

What else can a photo nut or pro ask for?

This bag can be configured can carry a 24-70 f2.8 attached to body rather than the 24-105 f4 and the above items. I finally got a nearly ideal bag for everyday toting about, snap and shoot. Gear easy in, easy out and rainfly for moisture or windblown dirt and really secure from prying hands and nosy eyes of casual on lookers.

Best Deals for Think Tank Photo CityWalker 20 Messenger Bag (Black)

I bought this bag as a travel bag that can fit my 13" MacBook Pro, a medium sized micro 4/3 camera kit and other misc. small items for trips. This bag exceeds my expectations. The material is lightweight, but it feels very sturdy and is backed by ThinkTanks warranty. The front flap is one of the best I've seen in that it's pliable enough to be able to open it and get to your gear while wearing the bag without much hassle. My old bag, a Timbuk2 Snoop, was not good for this.

Even though it's not listed for it, this bag fits a 13" MacBook Pro (non-retina) perfectly in the main compartment. It won't fit in the iPad slot, but it slides right in between the iPad slot and the camera insert like a glove. I prefer this position for the laptop because when I'm wearing the bag, the laptop isn't banging against my back and the bag can shape more to my body since the laptop is in the front.

I fit a micro 4/3 camera, 4 lenses, flash and accessories no problem. In the inner side pockets, my compact Ultra-Pod 2 fits in nicely. The external side pockets are big enough for a 20oz. size bottle of water. The organization in the front pocket is a nice feature too. Overall, this bag is exactly what I was looking for.

Honest reviews on Think Tank Photo CityWalker 20 Messenger Bag (Black)

Great bag, nice design and doesn't slip off your shoulder. I have my canon 6d with extra battery grip, 85mm lens, 24-105, 70-300 and flash all in this bag. I like the fact that it has an extra hand strap attached so you can pick it like a bag and don't have to use the shoulder strap.

I bought this as a bag to carry my camera and an additional lens. Depending on the lenses I choose, it could also easily carry a full-sized flash and batteries. As usual with Tamrac, it has spaces ideal to hold batteries and cleaning equipment. The strap is long enough to carry like a messenger bag, and the clip-and-velcro closure is secure enough to hold everything tightly. The only thing this misses is a waterproof shell, just in case you're caught in a downpour. The bag itself is heavy nylon so it will resist a bit of rain, I'm sure.

This bag is great. Just the right size for an average camera and plus some charging cords. Light weight and unobtrusive too. Several colors to choose from as well.
