This is a very nicely made case for your DSLR. I'm completely happy with the quality of construction and padded protection this provides my Nikon D300. It's the perfect size when I want to grab my DSLR and not be burdened with extra lenses and all the other stuff that I normally would have with me using a larger camera bag.
The depth of the case is 7.5" enabling me to fit my D300, and attached battery pack with my 17-55 f2.8 lens. It's a tad tight closing the top zippered lid, but it does fit and that's very nice. If I were to remove the battery pack, it would fit very comfortably with a little wiggle room.
The case has an extremely durable bottom piece that is about 1 inch tall and is a solid plastic base. This cushions and protects the DSLR case from water infiltration if you were to set your case on the ground.
There are 3 outside pockets. The left and right zippered pockets are marginally useful. They do not expand at all and have little volume but are suitable for lens cleaning cloths, lens filters or something thin. The front pocket is way more useful and has enough room to put in several smaller items. It has a elasticized back nylon mesh panel that you could throw a couple memory cards into as well as two dedicated memory card (SD) pockets with velcro closure on the front inside panel.
A comfortably padded and suitably wide shoulder strap is included.
What a great case this is. Very functional, comfortable to carry and just the right amount of space to easily carry a DSLR, decent sized lens plus a few odds and ends.
It's a great price and seems to be of the highest quality. I expect this will provide years of good service.

The plastic clip on one end of the shoulder strap broke at the swivel joint less a minute after I carried the case on my shoulder. The case fell on the hardwood floor with my Canon 6D w/ a 24-10mm zoom lens in it. Fortunately the case was zipped up otherwise it would totally ruin my day. I owned many backpacks, messenger bags, tote bags... but never had one failed like that. I hate to return things besides I would like to use the case for my trip this weekend. Thus, I replaced the broken strap with one from on of my old camera bags so that I can use it for the weekend. Then I found out this case is awkward to carry. First of all, the plastic loops on the case are too wide so the clips on the strap constantly shifting back and fore as I walked. Secondly, the placement of loops on the case is perfect for an empty case. However, after I put my DSLR camera in it the cg of the loaded case shifted closer to the back of the case. The loaded cased then tilted with the nose of the case constantly rubbing against my hip and the top of the case tilt away from my body. With the shifting of the clips, it makes the case feel larger then it is and awkward to carry.
After looking closely at the product my assessment is that the case itself is well made but the plastic pieces are a different story. I examined the failed surface of the plastic clip. Almost half of the fractured surface was covered with pores (air pockets or dirts). With today's plastic injection molding technique so common and well developed, those plastic parts must come from a factory with very poor quality control of the material handling and molding processes. Although I replaced the strap with one that I can trust, what about the plastic loops on the case. Next time I might not be so lucky if one of them fails on me. My $2,000 camera equipment could be ended up in the bottom of an ocean or a canyon. So I decided to return it for a refund. I brought hundred of items from Amazon over the years and I have never returned one because I didn't like it until now. The irony is that this case is made by Amazon itself so I am disappointed.
No. I would not recommend this product to anyone unless Amazon improve the quality of the plastic parts and reposition and redesign the loops on the case.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program Just received the Amazon Basics Holster camera bag, and I am officially in love. I'm a small (input, very tiny, 5'2 on a good day) person, and hate having to lug around huge camera bags that seem to take over my body. But this bag is small enough to easily carry around, while yet big enough to stow everything I need for a small photo shoot or just a breezy snap happy day.
For a rundown: the outer area of the case has one small zippered area on the front of it that also houses two small Velcro pockets that are just big enough for SD cards on one side. On the other side of this zippered area is a little mesh pocket that can easily be used for cleaning cloths, more SD cards, etc. Each side of the case also comes equipped with zippered areas that allow for more storage of small items. The top of the case has a padded handle, and the strap has a movable padded shoulder area that is very comfortable. Not to mention I can easily put the strap on my shoulder or toss it sling style for hands free movement. The bottom of the camera bag is encased in a hard plastic, which is great when setting down your bag on a hard floor/ground plus it's so solid I have no fear about moisture getting in. Now the inside of the case is lined with a soft microfiber material, and is roughly 8 inches long, and 6 and a half inches wide, but keep in mind this is a holster bag and it tapers down in width. There are two movable Velcro strips that nestle your camera and hold it up in its down position. What I also love above this case is it is very padded, so I'm not worried about any accidental bumps harming my camera. As a side note, the thick padding at the bottom of the case is removable...not that you'd want to do that unless you're switching it out for another padded bottom.
Now for the part I was fearful of. Could this small holster fit my Canon 60D with its 18-135mm lens with the filter attached? The verdict...it totally can! There isn't room for anything else in the case after I managed to stuff my camera strap alongside the lens, but it did fit fine, and I'm not worried that my camera will be damaged in any way. This case is definitely perfect for those who just want to bring their camera along without lugging a mess of equipment, and it can work for just about everybody!

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program For years I've used a Lowepro case with a succession of DLSRs. It's always been serviceable, albeit not exciting, so I thought I've give this AmazonBasics case a try.
This case is a bit narrower and a bit taller than the Lowepro case. It has room for a longer lens, but the space between the internal supports would make it a challenge to use it with a large diameter lens. Although this case is stiffer, it has a bit less padding than the Lowepro. It does have a solid base, which both protects the front of the lens and also allows you to set it upright. It has a nicely padded handle and a shoulder strap, but it lacks a belt loop. (Not that I can remember the last time I carried the Lowepro on my belt.) Zippered pockets on the sides and the front, the front one with two memory card sized internal pockets and a mesh pocket, are good for carrying filters, batteries, or, of course, memory cards.
All-in-all a nice, but not spectacular, case.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program This is a small camera case for a large DSLR camera. It is 7 inches wide at the top and 8 inches deep. It closes with zipper that winds around 3 sides of the top. The inside of the bag is a soft, synthetic fiber that doesn't look like it will pill or shed. There are two support straps on either side inside the bag that are fully adjustable to hold the weight of the body of the camera off the lens. There are zippered pockets on both sides of the outside of the bag that measure about 4 x 4.5 inches. The pocket on the outside of the front of the bag is about the same size, but it has 2 small velcro closed pockets for camera cards and an elastic pocket for a spare battery or two. There is a padded handle on the top of the bag and attachments for the adjustable, padded shoulder strap on the sides. All zipper pulls are sturdy metal, although the zipper teeth are plastic. The bag has about ½ inch of stiff padding on all sides, and a hard plastic bottom in case you need to set it down on a wet surface. This is a minimalist bag that is designed to carry one camera, one attached lens, and a few select accessories, not a full kit of camera gear. Empty, without the shoulder strap, the bag weighs 11 ounces.
Much of the time, I like to carry my camera in a regular backpack to make my gear less conspicuous. To protect the camera, I slip it in a small padded bag such as this one and carry the bag in my backpack. This case is ideal for such purposes--it's roomy enough to accommodate my Nikon DSLR with a 4 inch lens attached. My spare camera cards and batteries are easy to access and quite secure in the front pocket. The padding is excellent, and I really like the stiffness of the bag. I also find the handle on the top of the bag and the adjustable strap quite easy to use and comfortable. The only drawback that I've discovered so far is that the side pockets aren't quite big enough to hold my filters in their original cases. But my remote and other small accessories fit in the size pockets just fine. A belt loop attachment would also have been nice, but there isn't one on this bag.
I got this bag to replace a similar bag by LowePro. The LowePro bag was quite worn after 20 years of use, and the top was ripping off. This bag looks and feels a lot sturdier from the outset. The stitching is firm and tight, and the materials look like they'll last a long, long time.
