This is a Domke branded case, made by Tiffen. Domke is an old and well respected brand in camera cases, and it was purchased by Tiffen some years ago to flesh out Tiffen's product line.

I have no idea whether this particular model predates the Tiffen acquisition, but as with other Domke/Tiffen collaborations I find it to be a very nice product. This thing is incredibly sturdy and well padded, with a semi-rigid structure that should shrug off most small impacts. It's got a hook-and-loop belt loop which is probably the weakest link structurally it's still fairly secure, but I can see how it could be ripped off of a belt if enough pressure were applied to it. It also includes a handy shoulder strap should you wish to carry it that way, although it's so small the belt loop seems like it's more practical.

The shape of the case is somewhat of an oddity. Unlike most lens cases, it opens to the *front* and not simply on the *top*. This means it's not cylindrical, and instead the opening flap is sloped upwards on the front of the case. The flap is secured with twin zippers on its sides (which are linked together by fabric), as well as with a generous patch of hook-and-loop on the very top of the case. This design enables easier access to the lens, however it also means that the case isn't secure at all when it's not closed up, so do be careful on entry and exit.

One thing that should be reiterated this thing is called "compact" for a reason, it's a very small case. It can hold my Olympus 50mm f/2 Four Thirds system macro lens along with my Micro 4/3 adapter, but only just. It should be fine for small primes, but even kit lens type DSLR zooms will probably have trouble squeezing into it.

Good protect from bumps and the double zipper pull-down allows quick access to gear. Price like all Domke is reasonable especially considering it's made in the USA. The only gripe I have is the back loop does not inspire total confidence.

I just received this compact lens case and was totally surprised by it! Originally I thought it would just be a compact carrying lens case for a small lens, but it is not that simple! It is a tough lens case with stiff exterior and well and sufficient paded interior. In the buttom, it also provides additional protection for lens. It comes with a strap to letting you to easily carry it all around, and it can also be mounted on your belt. The two zippers are both YKK brand, and they are connected with a handle which enables you to access the lens easily. I put my Nikon 35mm F1.8G lens inside, and it fits perfectly. The quality of this lens case is way above my expectation. I strongly recommend it!!!

This is a flimsy bag w/pockets of varying sizes. Not padded well (at all?). In THEORY, one could say that this is a carrying case for the Zoom H4n. This compact little camera case seems pretty sturdy and it's a good fit for the A500. The only thing that makes it less than perfect is that it's so compact it's tough to fit any extras, like batteries, in the case along with the camera. The hard shell helps protect the camera which was the original reason for purchasing. It does have room for a spare battery but otherwise, no great shakes in recommending it beyond protection for camera's fragile view screen.

I got this case so i can carry all of my electronics in my backpack as a carry on. I don't like my equipment knocking around in any old bag. I was able to fit all of my camera equipment in this. I own a go pro and two waterproof point and shoot cameras.

Nothing floats around and everything fits nicely. But don't expect to put much at all in the mesh carrier at the top of the case. Most things you put in there will bump with stuff in the bottom which will make it hard to close. Also, you can only mount the gopro face up, so if anything is pushed against the front on/off button you will accidentally turn the camera on and off.

I had seen this product online, but only purchased after seeing in person and bought there on the spot.

In the end, I DID feel it was worth the money, however it is overpriced. As conflicting as that is, theres just nothing that I have found out there designed especially for the GoPro that has custom cutouts allready done.

The camera bag is well made and works as advertised. The camera fits fine, Nikon L820, and the two side pockets work well for extra batteries and other small objects, although it would help to have a little more positive closure on the pockets. It does help to tape the batteries together, you are less likely to lose just one when you most need it. Flip side of the coin, I guess you could lose them all but it hasn't happened to me "yet".

I'm not sure what the other reviewer was smoking but this case fits the Canon G10 PERFECTLY. Leather is sometimes a little stiff when it is new, so maybe that was their problem. Every professional photographer knows that you do not want a camera to fit loosely in a case, because whenever it moves around (even a little) it causes friction, and friction ALWAYS causes wear and tear. In any event this case is well made. There is a loop on the back of it so that you can wear it on your belt if you want. This would come in handy on vacations. The cases lid is held on by TWO forms, one is a standard snap closure, and the second is a magnetic action so that the snap doesn't accidentally come undone. The entire inside of the case is finished in very fine and smooth suede. Stitching is very nice and in some places it is even double stitched. There are recesses on each side of the case (around where the camera straps would be) so that you can easily grab the camera to remove it from the case. If you own a G10 then you will definitely want to own this case, even if you have another camera case with all of your other gear. You've probably spent a lot of money on your Canon G10, and this case is made to protect it from any wear, and that's a job that is does very well.

This leather case is everything that I wanted it to be!!! I was looking a streamlined case to protect my G10 while I carry it around in my purse. I was looking for something as compact as possible yet still protective. This case fits the bill perfectly. I have a larger case that I use to store my extras and accessories in, but wanted a separate compact one just for my camera. It is extremely well made and very sturdy and I love the look!!! I like that there is openings on the sides of the case for the neck straps to come out, it makes it very easy to carry the camera. I have no use for the belt loop. As the other reviewers have mentioned there is no additional storage space in this case for extra batteries or memory cards, this case will only fit your camera, so if extra space is important to you then chose another case. This case is a real disappointment.

The biggest problem is that the camera fits too snugly and it is difficult to get out of the case. One of the reasons that I bought a G10 was because I wanted to be able to take pictures quickly and inconspicuously. I did not expect that Canon's case would require a struggle to remove the camera.

Another drawback is that the case does not have a strap of it's own. It does have a small loop which is presumably meant to go around the G10 strap. That doesn't work too well because the loop fits too snugly (again) around the G10 strap. Therefore, once you extract the camera you now have a bulky case jammed up against the side of the camera impeding it's use. The loop is too small for the case to easily slide away from the camera.

This case was not cheap at $30. I was expecting more.

Other comments:

There is no sleeve or storage pocket for cards, lens paper, etc.

The case is compact, nice looking and great for minimal protection while transporting the camera. It just is not at all functional as a case to be used while shooting.

I feel there must be a better case out there. My seach continues...

Buy Kata HB-205 GDC Hiker Backpack for DSLR system or DV/HDV camcorder

I originally bought the KATA 502 backpack because I was worried this one wasn't big enough, but the 502 is TOO BIG. it's over airline specifications and just generally gigantic. This one (205) is a much better sized option, with plenty of storage space.

In the main compartment I can comfortably fit my DVX100B, extra lenses, charger, batteries, two microphones, tapes, external hard drive, filters, and a whole mess of cables. My 17" widescreen laptop (in a sleeve/case) fits easily into the back and is well protected.

I have always gotten through airport security just fine, but I did have trouble the first time I tried to fit it in an overhead compartment. Now it's fine, I just learned not to overload the outside pockets when flying (empty them if you can). It gets pretty heavy anyway, so think about your back too!

Generally, a well constructed and designed bag. I bought it to eliminate the number of extraneous bags and cases I usually travel with, and it's perfect for that. Only took off a star because of my overhead troubles.

This fantastic bag is a perfect fit for my DV production gear: A Panasonic DVX100 with several mikes, a wide angle extender and several smaller items. It is a tight fit, though, but I wanted to have the ability to carry the bag on board commercial flights. The next model up, the HB-207, is slightly larger with a top pocket and a laptop computer sleeve, but it's out of the question as a carry-on item.

The shoulder straps could use a bit more cushioning but two automobile seatbelt covers wrapped around them have solved the problem for me. I recommend you look into the Porta-Brace line of pro video backpacks before buying. They're the industry standard for video and film production and their products match or better the Kata's features at nearly the same price.

Finally, another good point is that the bag doesn't look too flashy or expensive, so you won't walk around with a 'rob me' sign on your back, like you would with some other video packs. The weather cover does have a very large Kata logo printed on it, though. Overall a good investment.

I use this to carry an HMC150, headphones, mic, digital recorder, extra batteries, charger, couple notepads, my memory cards and a few other odds and ends.

Sounds like a lot because it is. This baby hold it all and looks fly on the inside with the dope yellow fabric. I like how it's customizable, though my setup is pretty much the same as the one in the example pic. For people with DSLRs this is probably a really nice feature (side note: I keep my GH2 in a different bag by Kata; that's right, I'm a lifer). Also, all the additional stuff you can add to this is pretty slick. I'm gonna be walking around with 16 cameras, 45 lenses and more, all strapped in and rigged up with the other bags and holders that clip on to this guy. Gonna look like one of them magnetic X-men freaks, absorbing all the camera gear on earth.

I've had it for several years and it doesn't show much wear and tear. It's pretty waterproof without the cover on, but it's nice that it has a raincoat as well. I got a matching one and now me and my homedog look ill cruising the streets. I got him on my back and I know he's got my back cause he's comfy as all get out, which is very important. You clip that little thing that connects the straps and your back is feeling straight up G, even with 30lbs of gear on your back.

The only problem I've ever had with it is that I keep my SD cards in the back zip-up pockets and I'm somewhat of an idiot and don't always remember to zip those parts. I hold it against the bag, personally, so yeah.

Seriously, I've loved this bag since I got it. I trust it to keep my babies safe and it does. A genius designed this thing.

We ordered this case for our new DSC-HX9V. It appears quality made and a good fit for the camera. The inside of the case has a nice fleece lining with slight padding to protect the camera. The outside is smoothly finished leather with a rich looking graphite colored metal wrapped edge on the cover flap. Overall a nice case that doesn't add much bulk to the camera when carrying it around.

The belt loop on the back of the case is securely sewn at the top and bottom making it very secure when attached to one's belt.

I would have liked a magnetic closure for the cover flap, instead of the snap, because you have to squeeze the camera firmly to snap the flap shut.

Overall, it's a nice quality case for the 'HX9V. I would recommend it if you have an 'HX9V. It's a keeper for us!

I've been on the look out for a perfect case for my Sony RX100. Just wanted stylish design and most importantly convenient removal. The case fits RX100 just right, maybe a bit tight, but I didn't have issues with removal or inserting the caemra. It does add some bulkiness, but that's expected with this type of case. My main gripe was the closing mechanism. I was expecting this case would have a magnet, but it uses button which requires some pressure. In the end I found identical design on ebay that uses magnet and costs 3x less this this case, although it wasn't leather like this one.

Overall Ok case for the price.

The case design is good. It holds my DSC-HX9V well. Has an internal pocket for additional SD Card. On the flap, it has a silver band with "Sony" logo on right side; it gives the case a high class custom look. I think it's a bit over priced at $22 (I paid $11.00 for my Canon PowerShot OEM a while back). The case is also stitched together like it was made up of various left over pieces material, and not sure how this will hold up in the long run. This case doesn't give you protection against water, but I just wanted a case that protect the front and back of camera and it seems like it'll do the job.

Couple of suggestions:

Instead of a magnetic button, the design should be just a magnetic closure. With the button, it can take some work aligning the button to make it clasp close. I would have also preferred an open instead of a closed belt clip. A closed belt clip take too much work fishing it through your belt. Plus it won't allow you to clip it to other clothing, or waist pouch.

Great looking case and it fits the camera very well. It's a bit bulky really and I don't care for the magnetic "snap" ... my old Sony case was just a magnet that snapped in in and I didn't have to push ... this one you have to push in and snap to fully close flap. Wish it had a slide on belt clip instead of a closed loop where you have to remove your belt and slide it through then put the belt back on (bet nice to have since my last case though was magnetic didn't have any belt loop at all so this is better then nothing). Overall nice case, a bit bulky, with the loop and snap issues but I like something made a camera and not universal cases that look cheap and don't fit just right. happy with purchase and happy with Amazon price as well.

Obviously this case fits the camera perfectly, and the extra little pocket for the SD card is handy. There is clip where you can attach it to a belt or other piece of clothing. The plus is that it is a genuine Sony product designed for a genuine Sony product. That being said, there are probably other cases out there that have more features, storage space, etc. The case is a little thinner than I'd prefer but it does make it seem more sleek.

I bought my first Pelican case almost 20 years ago. I traveled with it all over the country. I've used them to carry photographic and video equipment while whitewater kayaking, catamaran sailing, rock climbing, etc. It sat in the back of my whitewater kayak on hundreds of river trips, and never once leaked, even after a few swims out of my boat. I once had the 1400 case in my backpack carrying a camcorder while riding a motorcycle. At about 120 miles per hour, the zipper on my backpack opened, and the case fell off the back of the bike. The case slid about 100 yards down the road, and had no more than a few scratches. The camcorder was completely unscathed. I'm still using my first case (I haven't even replaced the O-ring, which I don't recommend), and just ordered my third case. I'm currently using one to store two GoPro cameras and the various accessories for them. I couldn't imagine a better product for my needs.

Just received it today .. very pleased with it so far. It appears to be well constructed no obvious flaws with the material, stitching, or the snaps. It fits around the sx50 perfectly too. I was concerned that it would be more of a "generic" design, but it does have somewhat of a "custom molded" fit. The leather is fairly firm, not exactly 'thick', but not paper-thin flimsy either. Somewhere in-between the thickness of a belt and a wallet. The color is a rich looking chocolate brown ... much nicer in person than pictured. Looks more expensive than it was! It comes with a leather camera strap too. That also appears well-made and matches the case perfectly. This is not a "dust-free" case though, in that there are gaps (roughly 1"x2") on the sides to allow for the strap, so there will be an opening. It should offer minimal protection from scratches and dings if the camera is banged around, but it's unlikely to protect it from a significant fall. Overall, it's a nice case, compliments the camera, and offers some peace of mind if you don't want to lug around a full-size, padded bag all the time. If it holds up and lasts for a while, I'll be more than happy with it.

This case fits perfectly and protects your camera against the bumps of carrying your camera around. As noted in other reviews this is not dust or water proof since it has slots for the strap to go through. However it will protect your camera and your lens from everyday bumps and scratches. It has a metal screw that holds the bottom onto the camera by screwing into the tripod mount. This screw is threaded as well so you can still use the tripod with this case attached. You will need to remove this case to swap batteries and cards. Also depending on the design of your tripod mount you may not be able to keep it attached to the case because there is a snap to hold the top portion of the cover onto the bottom portion. These are all minor niggles since this case is priced right for a form fitting well designed everyday carry case for your sx50. The snaps are solid and hold the case together very well. The leather is a very firm top grain leather that is study enough to protect from minor drops and scratches. The lower portion of the case makes the camera feel better because it covers the grip which makes it larger. But I have large hands and I like the extra bulk, YMMV.

Improvements that could be made?:

move the lower snap away from the tripod mount screw so I can keep my mount attached and still attach the top of the case.

I wanted to protect the camera while I was wearing it and was tired of putting it into a camera bag. This works great! Fits the camera perfectly. The black looks very sleak. It comes with 2 pieces, one attaches to the camera body and can stay on permanently if you like. The cover wraps around the lens and snaps on and off very easy. I'm very happy with my purchase and would highly recommend it.

This brown camera case was all that I hoped for. It's handsome, extremely well made of high quality leather, fits and protects the camera perfectly, removes quickly and easily when needed. Because the case is in two pieces, the top half can be partially or totally removed to, giving access to all the camera features except the battery/memory card compartment. I would agree with all the positive things other reviewers have said about this case, and disagree with all the negative comments. For those who considered the case too bulky or hard to deal with, I suspect they are the younger set who never knew what camera cases were like in their prime, in the '50s and '60s. Then cases were high quality, sturdy leather that were not only handsome but functional and very protective of the camera. Today one can find mostly only fabric or plastic or some other inferior material case that never really fits the camera well. So, I like the nostalgic look and feel and character of this case as well makes one look like an old pro. All this at an astoundingly low price for such a high quality item. Don't find that much these days. I'd recommend this case to anyone who demands high quality and excellent functionality at an excellent price.

Pros protects camera!

Cons bulky and awkward

Uses we travel ALOT to many countries and throw our camera in a bag with little protection. We purchased this to give our camera a little more protection. I am happy we did! It may seem cumbersome and overkill, but if you travel and get in strange situations where you don't want to worry about your camera breaking this is a good buy.

At first the case seemed stiff, after a month it is now conforming nicely. I would imagine in a year the leather will be broken in perfectly! The quality of this product is high.

I would buy again.
