great bag...but the latches are weak and do not hold all of the time. I am forced to try and find replacements for the plastic clips and use tape to hold closed while I am looking for them.

Discount Kata KT D-3N1-30 Sling/Backpack (Black)
I needed a backpack bag that would hold my Nikon D300 with the Nikkor 70-200 f2.8 VR zoom attached. My vetted choices came down to either the Lowepro Slingshot 300 or the new Kata 3N1-30. Both are very large bags, and while there were others worthy of consideration, these two were at the top of my budget range.
The Lowepro is a nice bag (my brother owns one and loves it), however, I gave the nod to the Kata for a couple of reasons. I like the yellow interior very easy to find small parts even in low light. I like the flexibility of converting it from a sling to backpack. Finally, I personally like the styling better than the Lowepro (which is functional but homely). The Kata, in my opinion, doesn't scream "camera bag" quite as much as the Lowepro.
The Kata is generally well designed and exceptional quality. The interior dividers are configurable to the user's specific needs, access is flexible providing for easy swing around "quick draw" as well as through the traditional rear flap. Initial configuration was a little cumbersome due to the restricted ability to fully open the rear flap. This limits easy access to the uppermost compartments, but once I figured out how to fit everything inside it was fine. There is ample room in this bag for a large SLR with lenses and attachments. My D300 with both MB-D10 and the 70-200 attached fit snugly in the horizontal position. However, finding an additional spot for my 17-55 f2.8 was a little more challenging. (Note these are both relatively large lenses with even larger hoods). I still have room for my flash and another small lens or accessory, but that's about it for the main compartment in my case. There is an additional compartment in the top for other stuff (flash cards, batteries, charger, lunch, etc). The extra straps for converting to a full backpack tuck neatly out of sight. The pack is very comfortable to carry, even with a heavy load.
Pros: Overall design is good (with exceptions noted below) and the quality of construction is excellent . Very manageable and comfortable to use. Very spacious and flexible for varying needs.
Cons: I would really like for it to have some means of attaching a tripod or monopod (something the Lowepro omits as well). For a pack of this size, that seems to me to be a reasonable expectation. Also note there is no compartment for a laptop not important to me, but perhaps for others. My biggest gripe is the inability to just lay the thing out fully open on its back (note the product photo that's as far as that rear flap opens). It makes configuring the compartment dividers very awkward.
Acknowledging those limitations and the fact that no camera bag is perfect, the 3N1-30 or one of the two smaller versions should impress you. You'll be hard pressed to find a better pack in this price range.
Bottom line: I'm happy with my decision to purchase this pack over the Lowepro and highly recommend it. I'm only giving it 4 stars for the omission of a tripod/monopod attachment and the awkward main compartment access. Despite those caveats, this is an excellent, albeit not perfect, large camera backpack. I may end up getting something smaller for occasions where I won't be using the large zoom perhaps the 3N1-10, W-94, or one of the DR series packs. Definitely Kata, though.
First this bag is wonderfully designed for the traveler. The sling design can go over either shoulder, or it can be a backpack! The extra strap simply tucks away into back of the bag. This is brilliant. The straps are nicely padded, as one would expect with Kata. However, what really sold me was the little side padding for where the strap hits the waist. Not only is this a nice touch, but in sling mode you can also tuck in the padding that you aren't using. Very well done Kata.
The basic weight distribution is pretty perfect and the bag slides easily to the front when you are in a tight place and you don't want to knock over that very expensive one of a kind terra cotta warrior that the hawker on the corner is trying to sell you.
What really makes this bag is the camera quick open. No longer do I have to take off my backpack, fight with the zipper, have the kids swarm me asking "dollar, chocolate, pen?" all while trying to pick up my camera so I can get a photo of that really cool elephant trampling cars under foot. Oh no, when the elephant goes on parade I can just sling the bag to my side, quickly flip the zipper open (extra large pulls) and whip out the camera just as the elephant raises its trunk in a salute to mayhem. What more can a girl ask for?
There isn't a lot of space for more than two medium sized lenses, a camera, flash, passport, wallet, cell phone, map, CF cards, mints, lipstick, a small flashlight, loose change, my pocket guide on how to swear in 37 languages, and a reusable bag (rolled up of course).
The styling and build quality are very good with the D-3N1-30, but there are some major issues with the functional design.
Issues:
(1) The top handle is built onto a zippered pocket on the top of the bag. If you don't take care to zip that pocket up so that the pulls are on the side of the bag, rather than on the top, it can suddenly open with enough weight in the bag.
(2) The bag doesn't allow for you to completely open the main compartment as the zipper stops on both sides where the buckle attaches to the back of the bag. This makes it very difficult to change around the placement of the dividers, as well as to gain access to the top portion of the bag to either place or remove items.
(3) The bag is poorly designed to keep items in place. I travel with an EF 100-400mm L lens which has a bit of weight to it. The dividers will not keep that lens in place unless it is placed at the very bottom of the bag. My 30D usually goes into the bag with an EF 24-70mm L lens, in addition to a couple of smaller prime lenses, usually 50mm and 100mm, as well as some lens cleaning materials and filters. The prime lenses will NOT stay in their dividers when the bag is on my back, as there is a lot of play between the tops of the dividers and the fabric on the back (the outside facing material) of the pack. This causes the lenses as well as filters and cleaning materials to come out of the dividers and end up all over the inside of the main compartment. This problem is 10x worse if the camera is taken out of the bag, and the backpack is worn on your back without the camera to help keep things in place. Due to the placement of the velcro for the dividers within the bag, you cannot change the divider placement to keep all the lenses, etc at the bottom of the bag with the camera at the top.
The D-3N1-30 is a well made bag, and looks very nice, but if traveling with multiple lenses, filters, etc, they will not stay in place.
I've given up on the quest for the perfect camera bag and now realized that I need several camera bags just like I need several lenses. For a short day trip a small camera bag suffices. However, I needed a bag that let me safely carry multiple zoom lenses, a camera body, battery chargers, and a GPS for a 10 day trip.
Does the bag hold the equipment safely?
On our full flight it fit easily under the seat. There are basically two compartments in the bag. The interior main compartment is 11.6" x 6.3" x 11.8". The manufacturer claims that the bag will hold A D/SLR with battery grip & long-range zoom lens attached as well as, 5-6 lenses, flash + personal gear. Will it? If the 5-6 lenses are prime lenses--definitely. It is a bit harder if the lenses are professional zoom lenses. However, I did manage to get a nice long (400mm f4) zoom and a wide angle in the bag along with a couple of prime lenses. Of course with a bit of creative packing I also got a GPS and a couple of chargers into the main compartment. The equipment is protected by padded dividers--Kata calls this its Modi-Vers System. The system allows you to create compartments that meet your requirements. The divider can be cut with scissors to any desired size. Attach the newly cut divider to another divider or the walls of the bag with a Velcro connector. The top compartment is quite roomy and can hold chargers, memory cards, and even a paper-back book or two for the plane trip. The two side pockets are easy to access and can be used to hold filters, and an extra set of batteries. They do bulge into the top compartment and steal space though. I truly wish Kata had put an easily accessible external pocket big enough for the paperback book, plane tickets, and maps. I hate opening the top compartment everytime since I'm afraid I'll spill all the other items in that compartment.
A really neat feature is the removable Media Kit. You can use it to store memory cards or batteries and remove it from the bag (it's attached with Velcro) when you need it.
The Kata 3N1-30 does include a rain Cover is included to protect against rainy conditions. The rain cover folds away into an integrated pocket. Without the rain cover the bag is not 100% sealed against moisture. There are a number of points where the zippers do not meet and leave a small hole through which rain could enter.
Is the bag easy to carry?
The bag weighs 3.3 lbs--fully loaded a lot more. It is made easier to carry by the well padded straps and the option to carry it three ways. It can be carried as a sling bag on either the left or right shoulder or as a backpack to spread the load. Frankly, getting in and out of the plane I used another option, grabbing the bag by it's top handle and walking along the narrow aisles. I just had to be a bit careful about not tripping over the dangling straps. In backpack position and "X" position you can comfortably carry your equipment for long distance walking when needed. The included chest belt and balancing hip strap helps take the load of your heavy equipment off your shoulders.
* 70-200mm IS f/4L mounted on the 5D MarkII or 1D Mark II does not fit the 3n1-20, however, both fit comfortably in the 3n1-30
* The Kata 3n1-30 fits and feels like a normal school backpack (I am 5' 7.5" tall, medium build). The 3n1-20 looks and feels alittle small, like a cute fashionable backpack for girls (girls, I don't mean anything negative by this)
* The Kata 3n1-30 fits everything I need for a day out shooting (1D Mark II w/70-200 lens mounted, 17-40mm f/4, 430EX flash, flash cord, 100mm f/2.8 macro lens, 28-80mm f/2.8 lens, my hat, 2 16oz bottles of water, ziploc bag of snacks, car keys, cell phone, Garmin 60CSX GPS, spare batteries of the 1D and flash, ND and circular polarizer filters, and my 12 pack of 4GB CF memory cards with room left over in the top compartment.
* Build quality is excellent. Obviously not mil-spec, but looks very durable and I'm not afraid to drag it across rocks
* Complaints of the flaps not opening up all the way doesn't seem like a big deal. Once the bag was setup to the way I want it, it didn't matter whether the flaps opened up all the way.
** Something else to consider: I was also debating on whether I needed the 3n1-33 model which has a laptop compartment. I decided against it because this bag was purchased for travel/city photography. When I travel, I tend to bring my Tamrac Expedition 7 backpack for transport (this is where I keep my laptop) and pack my smaller/lighter backpack or bags. Once I get to my destination, I leave the Tamrac in my room and travel lightly with one of the smaller bags. All my downloading is done back in the room anyhow, so I felt I didn't need to spend the extra $50 for a laptop compartment.

I bought this bag to replace a LowePro Slingshot 200, as I needed a larger camera bag for a trip, and the Slingshot 200 is too small for my Canon 30D and the lenses that were coming along.The styling and build quality are very good with the D-3N1-30, but there are some major issues with the functional design.

I needed a bag for my Canon XF 100.This is the only bag which appeared to have all the features of a "pro" bag, but was decently priced.
I guess you get what you pay for...
So, as a quality engineering person, let me review the bag in such terms:
Functionality:
The bag is long enough to hold a Canon XF 100, a shotgun microphone.
It has two side pockets and I was barely able to fit the absolutely necessary accessories e.g., the power supply
I found the internal "net pocket" to be well designed.
Liked the 2 adjustable straps
Liked the fact that the bag is "configurable" i.e., you can create compartments by moving the padding around on the Velcro.
Definitely no room for the tele-converter
However, it is not tall enough to hold the assembled microphone holder and not wide enough for any accessories or a medium silica gel bag!
Usability:
The basic design is quite good, and I like the way the bag opens
But the bag is waaaaaaay too small!
Even the shoulder strap is waaaay to small!!
Performance/Durability:
The material is quite strong and appears to be water-proof.
I also found that the stitching is quite good
Price:
There is simply nothing else for this price. The other brands e.g., APE, TAMRAC, etc. are all at least double -
Overall, I would recommend the bag, but marginally. If you can disassemble the microphone holder from your camcorder, and if you carry few accessories, it may be for you.

Case Logic Digital SLR Sling Camera Bag/Case (SLRC-205) for Canon Review
After searching for a long time for a camera case that wasn't too big, wasn't too small and wasn't too inconvenient and slow to unload my camera, I found this one from Case Logic. It does exactly what I need. I like to have my camera with me on family outings, hikes & mountain climbs, but found traditional camera bags cumbersome and uncomfortable to carry, often swinging around or shifting about when climbing got more challenging. I especially like that my tripod can be secured right to the bag. Though storage space may be at a premium, it is a sacrifice I'm willing to make. I am able to carry three lenses (one on the camera, and two in the lens pouch).

This bag is excellent for my Cannon EOS T3i ! It has a large pocket that will fit the camera W/ a long lens. It has another large pocket where I currently have a shorter 18-55mm lens and the camera charger and cables. There is still room in this pocket for another long lens or two more shorter lenses !! There is another pocket on the side of the main compartment (on the bottom when its slung on your shoulder) That I keep my spare battery and spare SD cards and camera remote in. In yet another pocket under the velcro flap on the face of the bag I have my waterproof point and shoot W/ its charger and cables. There is also a small pocket for a cell phone or wallet in the hip strap. This bag will also hold your tripod that attaches outside via velcro wrap. Handy if your riding a bike or motorcycle. I bought this for my new Canon 5D Mark III. I'm a skinny male 5'10", and it fits and feels great. Like other viewers have said, It was not designed for a battery gripwhich I do use. I don't use the hammock, and instead store the camera body in the main compartment, and I put my 50mm and 24-105mm in the top compartment. I LOVE my new Tamrac 5725 camera bag. I can wear it over my shoulder and it is always within easy reach if I need to change camera lenses. We recently took a bus tour, and wearing it over my shoulder, it sat nicely right next to me in my seat. Driving in the car, I keep it on the floor board next to my seat. It's always within reach, and is never in the way. I've used big square bags before, and they are really bulky and hard to carry around with you, especially if you are doing any walking. This bag is narrow and long. I used it as a purse and tucked my billfold, keys, and my Kindle inside. I only had to carry this one bag and I had everything I needed. I highly recommend this type of bag, especially when sightseeing. Depending on what I was taking pictures of, I changed back and forth many times between my regular lens and my zoom lens. It was nice having both with me at all times. During slow times, my camera, even with the zoom lens on it, fits into this bag in the very center. It was GREAT!

This bag is meant for simultaneously transporting PC and photo gear. It mostly succeeds. I would have given a 5-star rating if the bag was literally a half-inch wider front to back, and if the front zipper pouch was a half-inch wider front to back. I have a 13.3 notebook with a built-in optical drive, and while it fits with my camera gear, it's snug. I can get my minimal photo accessories in the front pouch, but no provision was made for my notebook's charger and a compact mouse. Both the main-bag zipper and front-pouch zipper are really hard to close. In fact, I popped the pouch zipper once and luckily it repaired itself once I got the pouch fully unzippered. The next bigger bag (Zuma 7) is overkill for the amount of photo gear I carry.The back-side slash pocket is unusable once I insert my notebook. And I was surprised Tamrac didn't include the typical trolley strap to hang the bag over a collapsible roller bag handle.
A PC notebook is almost a requirement for travelling dSLR camera users. If you fly, carry-on restrictions make it near impossible to carry separate PC and photo gear bags. At the same time, I want a bag that keeps my photo gear at the ready when I am walking or hiking. Backpacks are useless in this regard, and if you need a backpack for water, jacket, snacks, souvenirs, photo backpacks rarely have space for much non-photo gear.
While Tamrac bags are well made, bag makers in general need to study their markets a bit better.

After finally deciding to upgrade from a compact camera to one with interchangeable lenses, I first bought a bag from another company that many people seem to regard highly. It came with only two dividers for the main compartment, and the front compartment was pretty small. It was quite a disappointment.This bag is a definite improvement. The main compartment comes with enough dividers to make 9 separate compartments. Currently, it holds my camera with lens attached, two additional lenses, plus some accessories, and there's still enough room left for two large lenses, multiple small ones, or other gear in the future. There is also a padded section within the main compartment big enough for a tablet or ultrathin laptop (but not a full size one), which I am currently using to hold the camera manual. The front compartment holds my charger, extra battery, cables, and lens cleaning supplies with room to spare.
On the back is a slim pocket that could hold paperwork, although it is not protected from the weather. There are elastic pockets on the sides, but they are not big enough to hold a water bottle. The sides also have attachments points for Tamrac's modular accessory system, however, which includes items such as a water bottle holder, tripod holder, lens cases, and other stuff.
Overall, I'm quite happy with this bag.

With this bag I can travel with my laptop, camera and two lenses. I like the roomy pocket which accommodates folders, magazine and Kindle for traveling. The front interior variety of pockets is very helpful for the small stuff like memory cards, pens, small notebook, etc. However once all that is in there it's one heavy bag. While the bag holds up to the weight my shoulder does not. I'm about to add a portable memory device, not sure I can carry my Kindle too, looks like it'll be one or the other. Without the laptop in it the bag does not have any body of its own to provide protection for my precious camera cargo, it's a canvas bag after all. Overall good construction. I use it to transport, not for field use. I ended up purchasing a separate bag for day trips with my camera but like this when I want my laptop along as well. Just got it and for $22 was expecting WAY more.... This would be good if it was the $5 ebay deal (I have a stack of those cheapies for lenses and they are better quality then this one :-( ). Needed for a trip and ebay delivery was too slow but if your not in a hurry find a cheap version there instead of this.
Bag is very thin (thinner then you think from the description) and fit is very average very poorly conformed to shape of camera body. It's small but stretches. The velcro does not go full width, so I expect it will get pulled open if rubbed the wrong way. Going to be generous on the 2-star rating.
So i bought this along with a set of neoprene lens pouches and separated the body and the 2 lenses.
It was great! I felt the camera and lenses were protected without all the excess bulk. Will definitely travel this way from now on!
Think of the investment as a $20 insurance policy.

I wanted something to protect my Canon Mark IV when it was packed without a lens. This bag was designed for just that. It works well with one exception and that is not a fault of the design. It will not fit over the camera body with a Really Right Stuff L bracket attached. I must take the bracket off firsta bit of a hassle. When you ship or travel with your cameras you shouldn't leave the lens attached. The lens sticks out like a lever and can cause damage to the lens mount or camera flange if it runs into careless handling or accidental dropping. I carry my camera's in a Pelican case with dividers. I have been using a Velcro soft wrap, but it is bulky and takes up a lot of space in my case. This neoprene sleeve offers good protection for cameras that are in a case. Leaving the cameras unprotected is a disaster waiting to happen. Any number of small parts could work their way into the cases camera compartment and scratch up your camera or worse your display screen.Think of the investment as a $20 insurance policy.

AmazonBasics Leather Camera Case for Digital Cameras -Black Review
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program When I pulled this little camera case out of its box, I immediately thought it was going to be too small for my Fujifilm FinePix Z700EXR camera, but it fit perfectly! This is a sturdy, classy, soft-leather case with soft grey suede inside. The little inside pocket for carrying an extra battery is tight and out of the way; I'll probably use it to put identification inside in case I ever leave the camera lying on a table somewhere. With my camera's side strap sticking out of one side (which I prefer to running it through the top hole because access is quicker), it's like a little mini-purse. The cutout in the top happens to be right over the USB cable port on my camera, so if I had to (but I probably won't), I could run the USB cable to it without removing the camera from its case. Another thing I could do if I wanted to is use that little hole to loop an ID tag or small ID/credit card holder through using one of those beaded lamp-pull type thingies. Then I really could travel light.
Little things mean a lot to me, and I have to say I just love the magnetic clasp underneath the low-key silverish AmazonBasics logo on the front of the case. The magnet is not so strong as to be annoyingly hard to pull apart, but it's strong enough to do the job without slipping. The little circular magnetic piece in the clasp has a small center button that fits into a recession in the other part of the clasp; when closing the cover, you hear a satisfying little click when you slide it into place, so you know it's snugly closed.
I was thinking when I got this (not paying great attention) that the holder "clip" on the back was actually a clip suitable for clipping to the edge of your pants or a coat pocket, but it's not. It's actually better than that, because we all know how quickly those clips break off our cell phones. This one closes with strong velcro so you can loop it through a belt loop or other strap or onto a belt. The part of the holder that does not have velcro on it is not quite an inch wide, though, so it wouldn't work as well with wider belts. With the camera in it, it would be too heavy (at least for me) to want to wear around your neck, but you could definitely put it on a lanyard if you wanted to—and then perhaps stick it in a breast pocket so it's not dangling. One nice thing about the velcro is that, even though it is sewn on very well, part of the piece that is sewn to the camera case actually lifts up as you pull the velcro apart. This should extend the life of the case because you're not pulling against case stitching when you're trying to get it apart. This is not wimpy velcro, so you have to tug a bit to get it open.
I really like it!
The only drawback to this case -and it would depend entirely on how you like to port your camera around -is the velcro belt strap, which would offer little resistance to a thief if you were wearing the case on your belt. Then again, even a metal clamp would only offer moderately stronger protection against a good hard yank. Mind you, a thief is either gonna yank your camera no matter what's holding it to your belt, or ignore it completely because it draws instant attention of the wearer. If you're like me, and you carry your camera in a pocket, even when it's in the case, this will be of little concern.
Apart from that, this is a well-designed and practical case. Just remember to measure your camera against the dimensions provided on the product page. As mentioned, I've been using it for 8 months and have really enjoyed the extra attention it affords my Lumix, which was purchased only days before Amazon made this case available last June.
I also appreciated the AmazonBasics packaging, which went immediately into the recycle bin. Hope to see more of this in the future, particularly on items that often come entombed in acres of heat-sealed plastic!

The velcro strap fits around a belt, which is ideal for me. For those who don't wear a belt, there is a cut out at the top where you can access the ring that holds the camera strap.
It might seem like a simple thing, but now that I can securely carry my camera I can take advantage of more photo opportunities anytime, anyplace. For that reason, this accessory is a must-have for anyone who likes to take pictures.

Keep in mind though that this is designed for small devices like pocket digital cameras, I own a Sony DSC-T7 and it fit just perfect! Just to give you another reference, I tried fitting into it a second generation Flip Mino HD and it also fit pretty well (though I intend to use the case for my DSC-T7)

Was able to tightly squeeze the Canon Powershot Sx230 into this seemingly well built case, though the top would not close. Obviously too tight for this camera. The strap hole seemed to be a good idea, but trying to get the strap in and out of the hole is a waste of time. Now, after 8 months of fairly consistent travel and use, I'm very please with how well it has held up after being thrust in and out of pockets and backpacks, and set down on all manner of surfaces in all manner of weather. The case design is functional, not fancy, and the fit on my Panasonic Lumix FH20 is very snug, which is exactly what I was hoping for. Obviously, different camera brands will yield different results. Buy Case Logic PSL-26 Small Sport Camera Case (Gray)
I ordered this case based on the photos and dimensions on Amazon. When it arrived I was very happy with the look and build quality, but annoyed by the elastic "turtleneck" at the top of the case that is meant to hold the camera securely in place. This feature would be great, except it makes it difficult to get my Canon SD870IS into the case. If I try to slide my camera into the case it catches on the elastic and will not go in. I have to physically hold the elastic open and then slide the camera in, and this sometimes takes 2 or 3 attempts to get the camera in. Because of this annoying feature I am rating this case 3 stars.
the only thing i didnt really like is the narrow opening which is meant to hlod the cam when it's inside but it really makes u avoid putting it in and out all the time.

I agree with everything in the post below. The solution to the "turtleneck" is very simple, though. Make a small cut with a scissors where the elastic band is.......making sure not to cut the band. Pull the band through the slit, cut it, and pull the band out. So far so good. This bag is spacious but not too bulky. It is great for a XLR Camera and two lenses. The 140 is barely big enough for the camera and a few accessories so if you are looking between the 170 and 140 and are planning on getting an extra lens I would recommend getting the larger bag. If you want just the camera the 140 is a lot smaller and better if you want less bulk. I think more space is better but that is just me! The 170 seems very study, is nice and padded well. As you can read from other reviewers, the case is great and fits my Nikon DSLR D3100 plus 51-200 lens with room to spare. However, after just a month of use, the strap which as a non slip material on it in the center, started fraying (picture a cut denim jean with all the threads sticking out). Really poorly made strap.I spoke to the customer service and they are sending me a "better" strap. Something to note for prospective buyers.

Best Protective Camera Case Bag Cover Protector / for Nikon Coolpix P Deals
This is a very nice case, well made, fits perfectly on the Nikon P7100, and looks great. However, to use the camera, I have to take the front cover off as it hangs off the back of the camera rather than the old style front of the camera. Although I have ordered another case that works the way I want, I am keeping this case, too. The shipper did an excellent job and the case arrived very quickly from China.

Go Professional Pro Watertight Rugged Case for HD GoPro Cameras Reviews
This thing is very heavy duty and fits a lot of GoPro gear. I have a ton of mounts, pivots, and cases. They all fit nicely. Everything I need frequently is right there on the top layer of foam for quick access. It can pressurize for travel too. I tried pricing out putting something like this together with a Pelican case and cutting the foam. However, this product is competitively priced and saved me all that work.
My only complaint is that the space under the top layer is relatively shallow. I wish it was deeper underneath for all my other accessories, as it the top layer bulges a bit because I have so many other pieces. I may need to get a separate case for the other mounts that I own.
Great for travel , small and sturdy .
