This is my 2nd Kata [pronounce kat' ya I understand] sling camera bag--meaning that there is only one strap that goes over one shoulder. The bag can be placed in many positions: on the back [high or low], on your side [not too comfortable that way though, but does offer some variation], and pulled around to the front to be carried on your chest/stomach. The most significant aspect of this wonderful bag is that you can carry it comfortably on your back, and when you want your camera out, you just pull it around to your front, unzip the bag [very easy, and can be done from back to front or front to back], and pull out your camera.

In my bag, I carry all of the following almost all of the time:

* Canon 7D,

* a 70-300mm lens,

* a 17-85mm lens,

* a 10-222mm lens,

* an off-camera flash in its bag [Canon 430ex],

* 4-8 compact flash drives,

* a circular polarizer for each lens,

* 2 graduated density filters and required attachments,

* lens cleaning solution and tissues,

* a level that mounts on the camera,

* a shutter release cable,

* the manual for the 7D,

* the manual for the 430ex,

* 1 or 2 tripod mounting plates,

* a pre-packaged plastic rain poncho,

* a notebook and pen and

* when flying, my passport.

If I attached the detachable lens bag to the front of the bag, I can carry another long lens or my old 30D camera. It took some time and experience to learn how to pack the bag, but I would not trade this bag for anything.

One of the reasons I was attracted to the Kata sling bag in the first place [about 6 or 7 years ago] was that I did not want to take a backpack off every time I wanted access to my camera; what a bother that is. I have a bum shoulder that makes putting on a two-strap backpack arduous, and often painful. No such issues with the LightTri 317 PL or any of its sling bag cousins.

My first bag is still in terrific shape, but as I accumulated a few new lenses, I bought this bag [the LightTri 317 PL] because it is larger--and lighter.

Now, there are some improvements that could be made. Both Kata sling bags are made of a material that Velcro is able to attach to, thus making it plenty easy to manipulate the various dividers. My first Kata sling bag had 4 or 5 dividers, plus a little [2x3"] pouch to hold memory cards; but the newer LightTri 317 PL had only 2 dividers and no little pouch for the cards. If you order one, you may want to find out how to obtain more dividers.

Another issue, again minor, is that Kata provides this bounteous strap to go over a shoulder, but there are no pockets in that strap for loose change or bills, a phone, a wallet, or other little item you want to carry and have quick access to.

Both Kata bags I have owned are also designed without a handle to grab when you want to carry it with your hands instead of slinging it over your shoulder [like getting on a plane or moving it in your house or car]. Seems an easy issue to resolve, and I have not seen such an addition in any of the new generations of these camera sling bags.

Each of these issues is minor, indeed, just an annoyance; and I would not hesitate to buy one of these bags on the basis of any of these points. But maybe Kata will read this review and get their designers to work to remedy these little issues.

So, all-in-all, there is no doubt in my mind I will carry a Kata sling bag forever. I have carried one or the other bag six days in Yosemite, 14 days in Yellowstone, across Hawaii, to Thailand and Cambodia, to Hong Kong, and in several Baltic cities, including three days in St. Petersburg. It never fails to impress me at how easy it is to carry my camera gear, how comfortable it is, and the ease I have in accessing my camera gear without removing the bag. I can wear it for 4-7 hour stints with no problem. I am a big man, but approaching 70, so when I say I can carry it over my shoulder for 5 hours while walking, you should get the impression that the sling bag makes carrying bulky camera equipment less than cumbersome and not too tiring.

I have never purchased a bag or carrying accessory that was not Lowepro until this purchase. Admittedly, I was a bit apprehensive about venturing out to a bag or brand that is not readily available in my local camera store for a trial fit. But my concerns quickly vanished when I received this bag.

I usually keep my equipment in the Lowepro Event Messenger 250 shoulder bag, but this bag would be entirely overkill for an upcoming trip to Washington DC. The size, weight, and poor access to my equipment wouldn't be practical on the hot, muggy days walking between our national monuments and memorials. My largest concern was finding a bag that would accommodate a camera attached to my Canon 70-200 f2.8 IS II USM lens that gave me immediate access. The length of this camera/lens combination eliminated most of the sling and backpack bags on the market which propose to enable easy access and provide the ability to shift the weight to shoulders/back. I arrived at the Kata KT PL-LT-317. It's not a small bag, but it delivered on all of its promises. It fit my 70-200 camera/lens combo without having to detach, and even fit another camera body attached to the Canon 24-105mm f/4 L IS USM lens. The bag is very sturdy and as much as I had to take it off and check it in, have it searched, or run my equipment through metal detectors, it held its shape and shielded my equipment safely. Armed with short-range and long-range camera/lens configurations at the ready, my gear was unencumbered, safe, and easy to carry.

I have an existing Kata KT PL-3N1-35 Pro Light and purchased this sling so that I could have a bag for "light" use. I say light in quotes because with this sling bag one can heft a lot of equipment around. Usually works best with one DSLR and extra lens, small items BUT you can certainly load it with an additional small to compact digital camera without any issues. When its fully loaded, its advantage diminishes because its difficult to swing around for immediate access to camera. I use it frequently and find it very functionally useful as long as you have just a DSLR/lens and some light accessories (flash and extra cards). Anymore and you may as well carry a backpack..

Good product. Would definitely recommend.

very nice designed pack, I have a full-frame camera with 24-70mm lense, 70-210mm lense. I use to bring these two as my standard equipment. this pack can hold them without any problem. There are still extra space, so I put rain cover inside as cusion. the outside pocket can put your filter, basic maintenance tools and so on into it. the attached lense pack I put a 12mm fish eye lense into it. it fits perfect. sometime, I even don't have to take that extra lense pocket.

The pack is feel good when you took on. the wide and soft belt distributed the weight to your shoulder and also very durable. it's also very easy to pull your camera out of it, just like the introduction. really easy and fast. all details are taken care of by the designer, the zip and handle are really easy to open and close even with thick grove.

I like this bag because I can carry lots of stuff without it taking up much room. The compartments are well planned and layed out, the construction is solid and the size is perfect. There's even a pocket big enough for my nexus 7.

I love my new Canon S90 with the Richard Franiec grib attached. I was looking for a minimalistic case that offers good protection but will still allow you to put it in a pocket. I like neoprene cases/wraps for a lot of my photo gear not bulky/good protection/water resistant. I also wanted to check out the OpTech Snappeez Medium, because I use a lot of their neoprene pouches and their quality is great and so is Tamrac's. A reviewer on another site recommended this case for the S90 and I'm thrilled with how tight it fits with the extra grib attached! Highly recommend for a minimalistic Canon S90 case.

I have tried a few cases for the S95, and this is the best in my opinion. One of my criteria was having a case that was flexible enough to be able to fold the opening away from the camera in order avoid contact with the zippers, which this case does easily. Many cases are so stiff that the camera will scrape against the zippers upon inserting or removing the camera. This case does not offer a section for batteries or extra cards. It is a light weight, highly protective and very well made case.

This is exactly what I was looking for. A cheap little cover for my Panasonic TS-2. It fits like it was made for it. The belt loop will come in handy.

for whatever reason, maybe due to cheap materials, the inside material rubs off on your device. put a white iphone in it and over time it comes out black. quality very low

Whilst you can't knock the quality or aesthetic design of the case, you have to knock the vendor for a misleading description. As mentioned with other folks, this WILL NOT FIT the LX-5 (and presume the LX-3 either). It's designed for cameras whose lenses do not protrude significantly when powered down. Therefore this product gets a good review for those cameras, but a FAIL for those of you thinking about your Lumix. Or is that Lumii? :)

I ordered it and found out it cannot fit to my Lumix LX5. And the worst of it is that you have to pay the handling fee for the return. I will remember this vendor.

Best Deals for Camera Case for Panasonic Lumix DMC Series + Screen Protector Kit

This case does give protection and does fit my Panasonic DMC-ZS8. I wanted the case for protection, but especially to carry an extra battery. It will fit if you put the lens end towards the top, to leave room for the battery in the elastic /net pouch...but the net and elastic do not hold the battery or anything else in the net (unless they are so big your camera then doesn't fit). The elastic stretches across the case but is up so high the battery slips out and slides around, so unless you are careful you wind up searching like I did the other day, in the pouring rain through your car, under the seats for the battery that slipped out when you removed your camera.

So for protection it's okay, for everything else it really needs help.

Honest reviews on Camera Case for Panasonic Lumix DMC Series + Screen Protector Kit

I really liked this case for my Lumix DMC-ZS7 and it fit the camera well. However, when I tried to keep a spare battery (fairly thin) along with a spare SD card in the case with the camera, the zipper quickly failed. It took little to no pressure to zip the case shut, so I did not expect the zipper to fail. I almost lost my extra battery due to the issue. If you are not planning to keep a spare batter in the case, then I would reommend this one, especially for the price. If not, plan to buy something else.

I received this product, and it was bigger than I expected. But that's oke. I can put my extra battery in it and SD-card. Also I can hang it on my jeans with the safety lock...

Just got it and for $22 was expecting WAY more.... This would be good if it was the $5 ebay deal (I have a stack of those cheapies for lenses and they are better quality then this one :-( ). Needed for a trip and ebay delivery was too slow but if your not in a hurry find a cheap version there instead of this.

Bag is very thin (thinner then you think from the description) and fit is very average very poorly conformed to shape of camera body. It's small but stretches. The velcro does not go full width, so I expect it will get pulled open if rubbed the wrong way. Going to be generous on the 2-star rating.

Bought this for my Canon 7D for a trip. I always carry my camera on in a sling type camera bag, but didn't want to have all of the foam interiors of bulk of the camera + lens.

So i bought this along with a set of neoprene lens pouches and separated the body and the 2 lenses.

It was great! I felt the camera and lenses were protected without all the excess bulk. Will definitely travel this way from now on!

Best Deals for LensCoat LCBBBK BodyBag (Black)

I wanted something to protect my Canon Mark IV when it was packed without a lens. This bag was designed for just that. It works well with one exception and that is not a fault of the design. It will not fit over the camera body with a Really Right Stuff L bracket attached. I must take the bracket off firsta bit of a hassle. It would be nice if the neoprene was a little more stretchable, or they offered a model that would accommodate the bracket.

Honest reviews on LensCoat LCBBBK BodyBag (Black)

When you ship or travel with your cameras you shouldn't leave the lens attached. The lens sticks out like a lever and can cause damage to the lens mount or camera flange if it runs into careless handling or accidental dropping. I carry my camera's in a Pelican case with dividers. I have been using a Velcro soft wrap, but it is bulky and takes up a lot of space in my case. This neoprene sleeve offers good protection for cameras that are in a case. Leaving the cameras unprotected is a disaster waiting to happen. Any number of small parts could work their way into the cases camera compartment and scratch up your camera or worse your display screen.

Think of the investment as a $20 insurance policy.

This bag is for the camera body without an optional grip. It says it fits to Canon 5D, but it's really tight to fit my 5D Mark III. Fortunately, the fabric is a bit elastic. I hope it becomes loose as time goes.

I was hoping this was made in Switzerland but no it was made in China. But putting that disappointment aside I do like the case overall. I am putting my Doro cell phone in it to carry when what I am wearing does nor have pockets. Mostly when I mow. I wear as little as possible when its 100 and 80% humidity in Kansas. But it has a good lanyard to around my neck and a place on the back for a pen or pencil. Inside it has one open pocket with 2 mesh pockets to hold various items. And it has a front flap with a Velcro closure on it to hold whatever you want to put in it.It is a stronger pocket but I would not put anything breakable in it. If that flap somehow gets caught on something and the case is in a downward angle what ever is in there could come out and fall to the floor or ground. I don't know how it would do holding a camera but it is a good case and made to good standards. The overall dimensions are 3 1/2 by 5 inches. The main pocket has 2 zippers that unzip to the sides and down each side. I would recommend looking at this case for your own purpose but why I gave it only 4 stars was where it was made. I tied the lanyard down at the end of the lanyard almost at the end so it won't slide off the lanyard.

Plenty of use options, but on the whole much bulkier than I like. I wanted it because with the clip it can go on and off your belt without having to remove your belt, but that convenience is far outweighed by the bulk. I since bought a different case thats trimmer to carry.

The RooCase for my digital polaroid is a very secure, snug fitting case. It's very snug for just my camera. I wonder if they make a larger case, other than that for just my particular camera which will also hold some accessories, such as extra batteries, memory cards, flash drives, and perhaps some cables for connecting my camera to my computer. The item arrived timely and in excellent condition, however.

This bag is perfect for what I was looking for. I wanted something that had enough pockets, dividers, etc to carry my small dslr and a few lenses and batteries with room for some cleaning supplies, etc. Below is a list of what I fit into this bag and it's pretty full. The bag is nice looking, the straps and connectors are sturdy and stay closed. The bag has soft internal dividers with velcro that you can adjust to fit your equipment. There's a netted zip pocket in the lid that you can see the contents of and a front zip pocket that has pockets for pens, paper, etc. The strap is fairly thick and the shoulder pad is soft and wide. The metal Nikon badge on the front looks nice and hasn't tarnished. The padding of the bag is suitable for a bit of knocking around without worry of damaging the contents. Great bag!

-Nikon D60 with vertical grip(usually with 35mm lens and hood attached)

-Lensbaby lens

-18-55mm lens

-55-200mm lens

-fisheye lens attachement

-lens hoods

-SB600 flash

-Sto-Fen Omni-Bounce flash diffuser

-Nikon camera battery charger with cord

-Lens Cleaning Pen

First, I would like to say that Nikon makes durable, accomodating Gadget bags. I have used 4-5 down through the past 20 or so years and I have never had any product failures. In the case of this most recent purchase, I found the case to be too small to accomodate all my gear. The pictures shown in the ad give one the impression of more space and compartments to work with. Sadly this isn't the case and I barely have room for my D7000 with 18-105 on body and the SB900 has to take a very unnatural position in one of the lens compartments. I should have done better research. So, ultimately the blame falls on my shoulder.

Perfect bag for an entry level slr and small-size lenses. I was impressed by the size (not too big/not too small). I was able to nicely fit in the D40 body, 18-55mm kit lens, 55-200mm VR and then some more for charger, battery, hood. Decent cushioning.

Honest reviews on Nikon 5874 Deluxe Digital SLR Camera Case - Gadget Bag

This case also fits the Panasonic Gf1 with the LVF1 viewfinder attached. With the little 20mm f1.7 pancake lens on the camera, there is about 1 3/4 inches of room left in the front of the case. You should be able to persuade a longer lens to fit as long as it's not too bulky. I keep my camera in a padded camera bag, but I still wanted extra protection against scratches and this case seems to be fine for that. I can even safely carry the camera in my purse now. The only negative I found was the overpowering rubber odor from the neoprene when I removed the case from the plastic bag it came in. Once I aired it out for a couple of days, it was fine.

After eight months I have not had any of this pack tear, break or fail. I expected it to stretch or settle, but it's still a very tight fit with either a D3X or a gripped D800 attached to my Nikon 600 f4. This pack holds the lens securely and is well padded. I purchased this because I recently purchased a 600mm Pentax 6x7 lens, which I intended to use on my Pentax 645D with an adapter. The lens is usually sold with a metal case, but I got a better price from a reputable dealer since there was no case included. With this backpack case I can load the lens, which is enormous, with adapter and camera attached. I can even add the 1.4x converter, and it all fits in the case. I can even easily. hang a tripod with a large gimbal head on the back. I'm not suggesting this is easy to pick up and put on, but once on, it balances well using the chest and waist straps. I have only walked with this for short distances, and since it weighs more than an infantry man's pack, think it might be very tiring on a long hike. I did not try the Lowepro equivalent, so cannot make any comparison, but am pleased with this item for an oversized telephoto lens..

I bought this product to use with the Canon Powershot SD1100 camera. It fits perfectly, as it is the same size as the preceding model (SD1000). My only complaint is that the camera is a little less portable inside the case -you might not be able to get it into a pants pocket, if your pockets are small, whereas without the case, it is a great side to slide into any size pocket. Aside from that, it is a good product.

I bought this case for my wifes camera and I was worried that she would be upset that I didn't buy the cheaper non-canon case. But when she saw the quality of the case plus how the camera case fit over the camera exactly she was very happy.

The only draw back is the magnets inside the leather camera case grab paper clips from inside her purse.

I bought this for my wife to go with her Canon SD770 that I bought on Amazon as well for Christmas. This case is a perfect fit for the camera and she totally loves it. She carries it with her everywhere in her purse. Well constructed with a magnetic clam shell flap, it does a great job of securely holding the camera inside. It has a small slit at the fold on top to put a lanyard through to carry on the wrist, although I have found this makes it a little tricky getting the camera out. Overall, I would highly recommend for anyone with a Canon SD1000 or SD770.

I bought this case for my new Canon SD790IS. It fits snugly in the case ... perfectly. The color in the picture is completely off. The case is actually a brighter, bubblegum kind of pink but that's just what I wanted.

Contrary to an earlier review, it does indeed have a slot through the top of it to pull your wrist strap through so that you can close it.

It feels stiff and sturdy, like it will last a long time. I'm very happy with my purchase.
