This case says it can hold 20 different cameras, and lets not forget: and more. Got this for the Kodak C182. It fit in the case, after shoving it in, and turning it around after it forced open the battery cover. Put it in to leave it there to stretch it out. All I am saying is to expect that it may not be the best for every single camera ever created, so look at that return policy if you plan to purchase, because your camera may not actually fit.

After seeing some input from people using this case with an RX100, I bought it too. It's a touch clunky and you're either going to have to use the large sling that comes with it or take it off. But all in all, it's working out for me. The camera fits snugly in the case and it's got pocket room in the front to carry a USB card reader.

My first impression of this bag was that it is lightweight with excellent fit and finish: tough high tech fabrics, dense padding and heavy duty stitching. It weighs over a pound less than my Lowenpro Stealth Reporter 200W yet has more room. It is so organized it is almost over designed with a multitude of dividers with protective flaps, an overlying gear cradle (lens bridge) and pockets galore. Yet it is all held together with velcro so you can rearrange the interior to your heart's content. This is a serious bag for working photographers and not a murse for hipsters trying to look cool (they need a leather Ona to match with their funny hat and glasses).

THE STRAP

The strap is a pleasure to use: 2" wide nylon webbing, sturdy hardware with a well padded suede leather shoulder pad. I found the suede surprisingly grippy and stable while hanging off one shoulder. The shoulder pad is flexible and conforms to should shape well, distributing weight across shoulder and chest. The strap has 2 loops to attach small accessories, but I use them to hook my sunglasses through.

FILL IT UP

This a bag designed to stuff: room for half a dozen small to medium sized lenses and a pro sized camera with zoom attached sitting in the lens bridge (cradle-like area running length wise). Mobile photographers will find it light enough to carry for hours yet roomy enough for a full kit. The box-like design affords maximum cargo space within a stable work platform. The 606 can sit rock steady on the ground, acting like a lens bucket, and would be a challenge to kick over. Plus it makes a great lens change platform while standing.

FINAL BLURB

The 606 isn't just a lens bucket. It's riddled with thoughtful design details like a CF card wallet on a leash, ample pockets front, sides and top for your knickknacks and smooth fabric on the back to keep it from tearing up your silk shirt or tux. This is a well designed bag and build to last. Finding a USA made product on Amazon is a rare treat, so kudos to Tamrac for continuing to make products in the USA.

This is my second purchase of this bag. I would have continued to use the old one for my new camera (it was in great shape after 10 years), but I wanted to use it for the old camera so I could have a backup. I wanted one of the funky, cool new styles, but decided against them. This design is practical and gives you the ability of a 'quick grab' of something you need. Some of the others require unloading everything to get what you want. Then you need an engineering degree to get it all back! Keep making this bag!

I came back from my two-week trip which covers desert (over 100F), dusty canyon, river crossing (water level at my waist), hiking, rock climbing, low temperature (below 20F) etc.

This backpack is better than the padded backpack used by college students (for carrying heavy textbooks to school). It is far from any standard hiking backpack like JanSport. After I hiked for 4 hours, I started feeling uncomfortable with it because it does not have enough padding on the straps.

Some backpacks put additional room in between your back and the backpack to allow more air flow from the side. This feature is especially useful when the temperature is high. Unfortunately, the air flow in this backpack is very minimal.

[Padding/Protection]

The padding is thick enough to protect my camera gears. However, I haven't tried to drop it, so I don't know what level of protection it will give.

[Tripod]

I have a standard aluminum (light weight) 58" tripod and it is very hard to secure it on the backpack. Since there is no way to secure the tripod, it just keeps falling down. See the pictures I uploaded for details.

[Access]

Comparing to the sling bag (one strap), it is not easy (and fast) to access the gears. However, you don't want to carry a sling bag for a long hike. In my situation, I carry my camera (rather than putting inside the bag) during the hike because I won't miss any special moment.

You will need to put on the "waist belt" in order to access your camera (for the rotations). The belt is just a nylon belt and it may scratch your waist. It is less comfortable comparing to other backpack with gel pad on the belt.

[Durable]

The material is okay comparing to other hiking backpack. The material in the front is a bit fragile. So don't put the backpack directly on the ground/rock. It can get scratched easily.

[Sealing]

This backpack is protected from light rain (without using the rain cover) and dust proof (main body only, as there is a big hole in the side pocket for water host).

[Rain Cover]

While I was hiking in the wood, I hit a rain shower. The rain cover worked very well. Keep in mind that the rain cover only works for medium rain only. While I crossed the river (the water level was at my waist, just a little bit below the backpack), I put my bag inside a dry bag for complete protection.

[Look]

Unlike other camera backpack, this backpack looks more like a regular backpack than a camera backpack, which is good. It gets less attention (crime) than the other popular camera backpacks such as Canon.

[Why this bag earns 5 stars?]

First, this bag does it jobs well, i.e., I can fit most of the essential camera gears and I can carry them to the destination without too much pain. Although the bag is less comfortable than other hiking bags, I think it is okay given that it is designed for carrying camera equipments. Second, it is very roomy and I can customize the pad locations for my own purposes. Although this bag is not perfect, I would say this bag is one of the best you can get with this price in the market today.

[Suggestions]

Solve the tripod problem.

More padding on the straps (ideally, use gel pad)

Make the waist belt more comfortable

I carried this pack on a recent hike up Half Dome and came away very impressed with both the storage capacity and comfort of the pack. I've owned many photo bags over the years, and this one holds its own with the best of them. I will say the flipside functionality seemed a bit gimmicky when this pack is loaded up. Flipping it around your waist to access your gear causes the pack to invert itself, so you really need to stabilize the pack from a bent knee position to avoid spilling your gear everywhere. Maybe I didn't play around with this enough, but I think it's an area that could be improved in future versions by somehow stabilizing the waist strap.

I questioned my sanity lugging all this gear up Half Dome, and was skeptical of the straps -they seemed a bit on the stiff/potentially uncomfortable side for a long hike. But I was pleasantly surprised at how stable and comfortable the pack was throughout the hike/climb. This pack will likely not work for more technical climbs as the waist strap is not padded. It wasn't too uncomfortable, but I alternated throughout the hike wearing the waist strap and not. We also encountered a sudden thunderstorm on a later hike that week, so the built in rain cover proved essential.

I bought this bag for an overseas trip where I will be hiking a bit while taking landscape and other photos with my D800. The lenses and accessories I want to bring fit snugly in this bag and it is comfortable. The waist-band flip-down opening method is really clever and I feel like I can change lenses while standing with no worries of dropping anything. I had been looking for a smallish travel bag for a while and I think my search has ended here. This is a quality bag made of durable high tech materials and it seems to be very protective.

This is the 1st real camera bag I have bought. Choosing one was the most difficult buying choice I ever made. Finally, decided to go with the Flipside. I knew I wanted a backpack because I walk, bike and hike a lot with my gear. I think I made the correct choice for me. It is light and holds my Canon D5 with 16-35mm, 70-300, 24-70, 50mm, Satechi wireless remote a few filters, card reader, memory card holder, rocket blower, and some other items.

Compared to digging in the day pack I used to use, my life is simple. Everything is in its place and I can reach it in seconds. The flipside actually does work if you want to slide the shoulder straps down, and swing the bag around to access your gear without taking the bag off. It is fairly water resistant and the built in rain cover can be installed in seconds to protect the bag from the rain or snow. It appears to be quality made and built to last. It has a great way to store a tripod on the side, and because it is on the side you can get to your gear without having to remove the tripod. That is also a nice useful feature.

What it doesn't have is a lot of pockets or a place to stick a notebook. I ended up deciding that is a good thing because I pack only camera gear in this bag, and will just have to put the other stuff in another bag, so when I grab this bag it has the gear I need to shoot and don't have to remove anything. Might have given it 5 stars but I haven't had it that long and don't have experience with other bags to compare it with.

Found this on Amazon as a "used" item for a GREAT price less than $40.00 so took a chance. Impossible to tell it was used as it looks brand new. While large, it fits my items like a glove camera four lenses small tripod filter case cleaning items with room for more if I decide to pick up another lens or light kit. Quality is excellent and love the color, too. And, it carries well on my shoulder doesn't keep slipping down if I don't cross body it. Comes in smaller sizes but with all my camera toys, this works great. They have other colors available so if you hate basic black like I do, check out this brand. They have a killer light blue that I might have gone for had it been available at the same great price.

I just got this bag ... "Tenba Vector Shoulder Bag 3" ... and at the new lower price point it is an even more incredible value. I got it in Olive. It is not the fluorescent olive that appears in the photos. It's a more subdued military type light olive color. It has a nice matching shoulder strap with non slip padding for the shoulder. This padded camera bag has enough padding and stiffness to let it stand up on its own, but enough give on the sides to let you pack it up with all your lenses and camera body and accessories. The finish of the cloth, the zippers and latches are very well made and look like they will hold up for a long time.

There are 2 short and 2 long movable padded dividers that attach to the inside walls of the bag and/or to each other with velcro strips. I have arranged them into 5 sections that hold my Nikon D3100 DSLR, three prime lenses, one zoom lens and a 200mm telephoto lens in a leather tube case, and have room to spare. I also have my battery charger, filter cases, usb and hdmi cables, extra batteries, memory cards, etc in the bag. If I had a separate flash unit and lens hood, I could fit those in the bag as well. There's three extra zippered pockets on the front, back and flap of the bag, plus small non zippered compartments on each side of the bag. There's a velcro secured compartment for memory cards and a slim open compartment where I keep my lens cloth in the inside lid. It even came with a free lens cleaning cloth, and a removable waterproof cover (cloth, not plastic) which covers the bottom and sides of the bag, has cutouts for the shoulder strap and hand strap, and secures at the top of the bag with velcro tabs and elastic sides.

The Amazon vendor I purchased this from, Cameta Camera, processed my order immediately and even responded to an email of mine in less than 24 hours with a personal response. A pleasure to deal with.

This case was bought as a gift to be used with a Panasonic Lumix DMC-TS2. The case is nice but the Lumix DMC-TS2 does not fit in this case with its strap and silicone protective slip on. You can still do up the zip as the neoprene has some stretch to it but it is pulling on the stitching and fidly to close. Once the carmera is in the case you can not fit anything into the small extra zip.

The color is nice i just would have liked the case to fit a bit better.

This case is very well-constructed and seems to be built to last. It provides only minimal padding, but otherwise is quite functional. I bought it to protect my camera during those times I want to throw it into a jacket pocket, to keep it from getting banged around too much, and it is perfect for that.

The extra pocket is just big enough for an extra battery and a memory card, but nothing larger.

It is a bit tight for my Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX3, which makes getting the camera in and out a slow process, but as I said, I bought it for protection rather than everyday use, such as wearing on a belt. For cameras smaller than mine (which has a lens that sticks out quite a bit) it would work fine for daily use.

Bought one for my Sony TX7 and its just the perfect size. Well made with nice padding and a small pocket in front for an extra battery or SD card. A great feature on this is the clip that allows you to attach it to your belt, you can put it on or take it off without undoing your belt, which I find is a great feature and very convenient. I love my new Flip Video and keep it in my purse so I always have it available. I decided to get a more substantial case for it than the cloth bag. It's a large enough camera case, and very protective. However, it is too big to fit in my hard shell Aero backpack, even though this backpack has already the biggest volume among boblbe-e backpack products. If I force it in the hard shell backpack, the shape is deformed like a camel hump...

I purchased the Pelican 1095 HardBack Case with (Pick-and Pluck) Foam to hold a 15-inch retina MacBook Pro.

The laptop fits snugly in the 1095 case when allowing a single row of pick-and-pluck foam inside the non-removable foam border, leaving a total foam padding layer of 2-3cm around the edges of the laptop.

The 1095-CC's liner seems to snugly fit a 17-inch laptop, so purchase the 1095 with pick and pluck foam if you have a smaller laptop.

Pros:

+ quality plastic, less of a military design than previous iteration.

+ discrete.

+ snug fit.

+ easily customizable foam.

+ more waterproof and dust-proof than aluminum briefcases.

+ small form factor.

Cons:

slippery plastic.

no handle, only cheap shoulder pad.

padlock holes are small. It would be nice to have an alternate way to secure the latch for transport without resorting to a padlock.

latch looks like it makes 8 inches of contact but really there are only two 2-inch plastic tabs at either end of the latch plate holding the case shut-the purge valve is in the middle.

no room for charger with 15-inch laptop.

(SPECULATIVE) I worry that over time the plastic latch will wear, but Pelican offers a lifetime warranty.

Bottom Line:

The 1095 is a great solution for protecting your laptop chassis, but you will need additional gear to carry the power adapter and other accessories. The sacrifice of an all-in-one briefcase to hold accessories and laptop is recovered in the 1095's small form factor and better foam cushioning.

3-MONTH UPDATE:

:::More Pros:

+ The shoulder strap has held up and the nylon strap has not slipped through the plastic ladder buckle as I feared. I may upgrade to a ladder lock style of strap buckle.

+ I use a mini carabiner rather than the "Pelilock 1506" or padlock because the mini carabiner provides a tighter fit, although the case could still potentially crack open if it fell. A mini padlock may be ideal in fit but unlocking with a key would consume too much time/effort.

+ I can literally toss the 1095 in the car without worrying about crushing my laptop's screen against its keyboard, knowing that the case will not deform. In the past without the Pelican case, just packing too many things into my briefcase could cause keyboard marks on the screen.

:::More Cons:

The plastic lid will scratch easily, to the point where I feel that the old design with two ribs running down the front would better serve scratch protection.

The 1095 may be too big to fit into a carry-on backpack for airline usage, so the 1085's tighter fit might be better for flying.

:::More Bottom Line:

I still feel that this case is better than purchasing a metal briefcase, because the Pelican is slick and covert.

It fits my Macbook pro 15.4 early 2011 very well. I highly recommend the "1095 pick-and-pluck foam" model over the "1095CC(Computer Case)". I feel that a custom cut case for your laptop

offers more protection than a universal laptop case, also with the ("1095 Pick and pluck" Model you can store a 13" laptop in it safely, by utilizing the leftover foam). I believe this case would

also fit some 17" laptops. There are some draw backs to this case though. First, it is heavy, though it is worth the extra weight. Second, It scratches easily. Third, This WILL NOT fit in a

messenger bag or backpack, I read some reviews online that said otherwise, but it would have to be a very large backpack. Lastly, there is no room for a wall charger.

I still firmly believe these minor drawbacks are worth the inconvenience for this level of protection though.

The Pelican 1095 case is made to fit 15" laptops, such as the MacBook Pro 15 (there are other models available for 13" and 17" laptops). It comes in two configurations: the 1095CC, which has a pre-molded foam interior, and the "standard" 1095, which comes filled with "pick and pluck" foam. I am told that the molded foam interior leaves slightly too large a space for a MacBook Pro 15, so that it rattles around a bit inside the case. I got the pick-and-pluck foam, which is basically a slab of foam precut into half-inch squares; you can then measure how big and what shape a hole you want for your item, and then cut or pull out squares to create exactly the space you need. As it happens, with this foam you can get an almost perfect fit for a MacBook Pro 15.

The case is sturdy, has a gasket and closes securely, you could likely throw it into the open ocean for hours without water leaking in and damaging your computer (although this is not a test I am willing to do myself!). This is not a true briefcase though, there is no handle, just a web shoulder strap. Still, the case is sleek and elegant and would not be out of place in a boardroom.

The case is by necessity larger than the computer adds about two inches to each dimension so it will not be as easy to stow in a knapsack or shoulder bag. But if you absolutely, positively need a 100% jump-in-the-water-proof case, this is the one you want.

The case is well made, with good, heavy duty plastic parts and foam. The pick and pluck foam insert is very good closed cell foam (pretty firm) that doesn't come apart when the desired geometry is picked (and plucked). The lid on this model uses an egg-crate style open-cell foam and the bottom uses a closed cell foam like the pick/pluck layer. The dimensions noted as maximum dimensions are not correct. I have a Lenovo W530 that is within the noted dimensions, but the laptop would not fit. The case would not close without excessive force, causing the lid to base seal to remain open about 2-3mm on the sides. I emailed Pelican regarding this and received the following reply:

Dennis,

I show the internal dimensions of the Pelican 1095 case as 15.78" x 11.16" x 2.06" and the published dimensions of your Lenovo W530 as 14.68" x 9.65" x 1.25 1.40". I do not understand why your computer will not fit into the 1095 case.

That was pretty much the extent of the customer service. I also sent them a bunch of pictures showing the fit. I replied that perhaps the non pick/pluck version, which advertises a molded foam liner, was used for the maximum dimensions and that the egg-crate version was not the same. I asked if this was a possibility and, if so, that I could get the molded liner. I never received a reply or any further communications.

I cut down the egg-create foam layer (which is adhered to the lid). This took some time to get correct. I used an x-acto and sharp scissors (the scissors where easier to manage... and safer....)

With the foam thickness reduced (considerably), the laptop now fits and the case closes and seals.

I like the case and I would recommend the case, but keep in mind that the dimensions listed by Pelican are not correct (at least for the pick/pluck version).

I had it on the back of the motorcycle with my 15" mac in it. I took a pretty hard spill on an uphill road. The side of the case got hit pretty hard and it actually fell twice off the bike. Not only did it have no scratches or bumps on it, my computer is intact! Amazing product!

Better than the Fastpack 350 in 3 ways: (1) laptop sleeve loads from the top, not the side -top-loading is easier at airport security, plus laptops may fall out from unfastened side-zipper pockets, (2) upper and lower chambers can be connected, and (3) lower chamber zipper less likely to break.

Worse than the Fastpack 350 in 2 ways: (1) laptop sleeve considerably smaller -2 MacBook 17-inch fit in Fastpack 350, while 1 MacBook 15-inch barely fits in Transit 350, and (2) color choices limited.

Surprisingly nice feature: cup for holding tripod feet.

Slight disappointment: pocket on back is shallow; too small for boarding passes.

I was looking forward to this bag after seeing Lowepro's video. The bag is extremely versatile for what it can carry and offer. If can act like a Fastpack with fast access from a side door, while providing personal carrying space at the top. It can be reconfigured to carry a 300/2.8 mounted. This bag is also very light.

However, this bag is also plagued by several problems. Firstly, the bottom of the camera bag is too soft. Causing the bag to be extremely unstable with gear loaded into it. Another major problem is the weak sewing of the straps to the bag. This bag is made to accommodate heavy gear and some will load it to the brim due to the space offered. The weight will cause the straps to tear at the sew point at the top of the bag. Mine was starting to come off a little when I decided to sell the bag. Talking to my favorite camera shop, several bags have been returned due to the straps tearing at the same location.

A wonderful bag otherwise, the 2 flaws, one unforgivable, really made this bag a loser in my book. But it did have potential though. Hopefully Lowepro can fix these glaring problems.

Before I get into a "quick review", I wanted to go over the criteria of what I needed. As a Pro-Photographer, it seems I've collected a collection of bags for every scenario (from Tenba's Roadie II Large Luggage, to LowePro's Pro Trekker 400 AW, to ThinkTank Photo's SpeedDemon, to LowePro's Photo Sport 200 AW).

I needed something that could carry a Canon 1DX but without the bulk of Pro Trekker 400, and definitely a bit bigger than the Photo Sport 200. And this backpack fit the bill nicely.

While there are a few things left to be desired, like a slightly bigger laptop compartment, the overall pack has proven to be quite smart and stylish.

When I casually go out to shoot the kid or the family, this bag seems to be the great carry all. I'm 6'1" and about 190 pounds and the pack is small looking on me. The straps are VERY comfortable considering the weight I'm carrying. It was actually quite shocking at how easy it was to carry the load I did. Remember, this is a casual backpack, I wouldn't use this for any of my Pro Gigs at all, but merely to tote my camera around from school function to dinner.

I love almost everything about this bag. I'm coming from using a flipside 300 and needed something that could also accommodate my laptop. I'm able to fit my 15" MacBook Pro, my camera with 3 lenses, flash, chargers, GoPro, and even some clothes. I can attach a travel tripod to the side and use this bag to carry everything I need to travel for just a few days.

A few things about the design. The color is nice, although I wish LowePro would do something like Kata bags and make the interior liner very bright. It helps for finding gear in your bag at night. I like the quick side access for the camera, although that's something I rarely use. It's well-padded and the shoulder straps are comfortable, even when completely loaded down. It has a waist strap, which I guess would be useful for hiking. The front outer pocket is useful, as is the netting and small pocket on the inside for holding cards or batteries. I miss my outer side pocket from my flipside. That was very useful, as was the large inner pocket (both of which are lacking here). The one other design drawback I see is the top handle. The flipside had a large, robust handle that could take much more weight than you could load down the pack with. This one just had a single strap. If the pack is heavy, it's not the most comfortable thing to pick the bag up with, and it definitely doesn't feel as capable of supporting all that weight.

Things I wishes they'd change: I would like to see more zippered pockets. One large one on the inside and one side pocket on the outside. If they also upgraded the top handle to something thicker, this would be the perfect pack to carry on a plane for short trips.

I bought this product to hold my Canon 40D, 135mm 2.L, 50mm 1.2L, and 20-70mm 2.8L lenses. All of that fits in the bag along with a vivitar flash with room for lens hoods and room to spare. It is really well built and the straps are padded so it makes it easier to carry. It is fantastic for my needs and I have had no problems with it so far.

Before buying this I tried the Adventure 74, which is just slightly smaller and slightly less expensive. Ultimately I returned that and upgraded to this, the Adventure 75. Besides the size, there are two major improvements with this model. 1) There is a drawstring over the zipper for the main compartment. This helps keep water out if you get caught in the rain. 2) This has two accessory pockets inside the main compartment and the Adventure 74 only has one. With two compartments, you can keep bigger, bulkier items (like batteries) separate from more fragile items (like filters, lens cleaning paper, etc.). To be honest, I didn't really need the extra room in the 75, but having these two features made it worth the extra cost for the upgrade. Besides, now I have room to upgrade!

I use this backpack for outdoor photography, and I must say that it is solid. I was so impressed with Tamrac that I just ordered the Tamrac 5613 camera bag to haul and store all my gear for bigger / more formal events. That is the only drawback to the backpack, space can be limited once you start adding lenses and a second camera (but then I started asking myself why would i want to carry so much equipment on my back on a hiking trip anyway?) So I recommed thinkng ahead to what you plan to own down the road. For me, this bag is a keeper for venturing out in the wilderness.

I've had this bag for a few years now, and it's served me well through many weddings and other shoots. It's a snug fit, but I keep 2 DSLR bodies, 1 70-20mm lens, 1 24-70 lens, 1 50mm lens, two flashes, batteries, memory cards and misc items. Lots of cushion, and extra zippers inside for smaller items. Great if you want something that is easy to carry around on your back.
