I purchased a Canon A4000 IS point and shoot camera for my wife and the first thing she wanted was a carrying case. She wanted something that would hold the camera securely and protect it from scratches, drops and just the normal hazards that can happen with your small portable camera. She looked at about a dozen different cases and she liked this one for several reasons:

* It opens at the top and putting the camera in it was easy.

* It was nicely padded and the padding protects the LCD screen and the lens.

The Lowepro Geneva 10 is a durable, extra padded carry-everywhere pouch for compact cameras with a double scotch stitched belt loop for quick release and maximum security.

It features a back pocket for an extra battery and memory card and a shoulder strap.

Protection the pouch seems to protect the camera very well. It offers a welcomed extra protection that does diminish a little bit from the compactness of the pouch in terms of depth (by a quarter of an inch) when compared to similar models, but it is well worth the extra size.

Durability The materials, stitches and overall design strike me as durable and my guess is that the pouch will last in great shape for a long time even when used in extreme natural conditions.

I found the pouch to be a very good match for the Samsung TL350 10.0 MP 5x Optical Zoom Digital Camera (Black) I've recently purchased.

The camera measurements are:

Width 3.9 inches (horizontal measurement of the device when placed in its operational position).

Depth 0.9 inches (the measurement between the front and the back faces).

Height 2.3 inches (the measurement of the vertical distance of the device).

Expect a camera of similar size to fit in with no problems.

The Geneva 10 fits my Canon S 95 like a glove (the s 90 is a tad too big to fit). It's a tight fit, without even room for an SDHC card. But that's what I want for my pocket camera, a small overall package. It also offers padding on all sides and zippers up nice and snug. Camera slips in battery end first, with the lens fitting in the upper/wider end of the case. Wrap the strap along the side and bottom of the camera, keeping it away from the power button on the top of the camera. Like I said, it's a tight fit. If a tight fitting small case isn't what you want, buy something else.

It's small, sleek, and the included belt loop and shoulder strap are nice. The interior is a very soft material that should protect your device nicely, and the pouch can be removed from the belt loop without taking the belt off.

This is the case listed on the box of our new Sony digital camera, but it actually didn't fit very well. It's slightly too tight when one slides the camera in, and the case is too long so there's a 1/2 inch of empty space on the end once the camera is inside. I think it's a carrying case designed to fit a multitude of cameras rather than one specific shape. If you're looking for a custom case that fits perfectly, skip this case. Mine's in the trash.

This backpack is better than the padded backpack used by college students (for carrying heavy textbooks to school). It is far from any standard hiking backpack like JanSport. After I hiked for 4 hours, I started feeling uncomfortable with it because it does not have enough padding on the straps.

Some backpacks put additional room in between your back and the backpack to allow more air flow from the side. This feature is especially useful when the temperature is high. Unfortunately, the air flow in this backpack is very minimal.

[Padding/Protection]

The padding is thick enough to protect my camera gears. However, I haven't tried to drop it, so I don't know what level of protection it will give.

[Tripod]

I have a standard aluminum (light weight) 58" tripod and it is very hard to secure it on the backpack. Since there is no way to secure the tripod, it just keeps falling down. See the pictures I uploaded for details.

[Access]

Comparing to the sling bag (one strap), it is not easy (and fast) to access the gears. However, you don't want to carry a sling bag for a long hike. In my situation, I carry my camera (rather than putting inside the bag) during the hike because I won't miss any special moment.

You will need to put on the "waist belt" in order to access your camera (for the rotations). The belt is just a nylon belt and it may scratch your waist. It is less comfortable comparing to other backpack with gel pad on the belt.

[Durable]

The material is okay comparing to other hiking backpack. The material in the front is a bit fragile. So don't put the backpack directly on the ground/rock. It can get scratched easily.

[Sealing]

This backpack is protected from light rain (without using the rain cover) and dust proof (main body only, as there is a big hole in the side pocket for water host).

[Rain Cover]

While I was hiking in the wood, I hit a rain shower. The rain cover worked very well. Keep in mind that the rain cover only works for medium rain only. While I crossed the river (the water level was at my waist, just a little bit below the backpack), I put my bag inside a dry bag for complete protection.

[Look]

Unlike other camera backpack, this backpack looks more like a regular backpack than a camera backpack, which is good. It gets less attention (crime) than the other popular camera backpacks such as Canon.

[Why this bag earns 5 stars?]

First, this bag does it jobs well, i.e., I can fit most of the essential camera gears and I can carry them to the destination without too much pain. Although the bag is less comfortable than other hiking bags, I think it is okay given that it is designed for carrying camera equipments. Second, it is very roomy and I can customize the pad locations for my own purposes. Although this bag is not perfect, I would say this bag is one of the best you can get with this price in the market today.

Solve the tripod problem.

More padding on the straps (ideally, use gel pad)

Make the waist belt more comfortable

I carried this pack on a recent hike up Half Dome and came away very impressed with both the storage capacity and comfort of the pack. I've owned many photo bags over the years, and this one holds its own with the best of them. I will say the flipside functionality seemed a bit gimmicky when this pack is loaded up. Flipping it around your waist to access your gear causes the pack to invert itself, so you really need to stabilize the pack from a bent knee position to avoid spilling your gear everywhere. Maybe I didn't play around with this enough, but I think it's an area that could be improved in future versions by somehow stabilizing the waist strap.

I questioned my sanity lugging all this gear up Half Dome, and was skeptical of the straps -they seemed a bit on the stiff/potentially uncomfortable side for a long hike. But I was pleasantly surprised at how stable and comfortable the pack was throughout the hike/climb. This pack will likely not work for more technical climbs as the waist strap is not padded. It wasn't too uncomfortable, but I alternated throughout the hike wearing the waist strap and not. We also encountered a sudden thunderstorm on a later hike that week, so the built in rain cover proved essential.

I bought this bag for an overseas trip where I will be hiking a bit while taking landscape and other photos with my D800. The lenses and accessories I want to bring fit snugly in this bag and it is comfortable. The waist-band flip-down opening method is really clever and I feel like I can change lenses while standing with no worries of dropping anything. I had been looking for a smallish travel bag for a while and I think my search has ended here. This is a quality bag made of durable high tech materials and it seems to be very protective.

This is the 1st real camera bag I have bought. Choosing one was the most difficult buying choice I ever made. Finally, decided to go with the Flipside. I knew I wanted a backpack because I walk, bike and hike a lot with my gear. I think I made the correct choice for me. It is light and holds my Canon D5 with 16-35mm, 70-300, 24-70, 50mm, Satechi wireless remote a few filters, card reader, memory card holder, rocket blower, and some other items.

Compared to digging in the day pack I used to use, my life is simple. Everything is in its place and I can reach it in seconds. The flipside actually does work if you want to slide the shoulder straps down, and swing the bag around to access your gear without taking the bag off. It is fairly water resistant and the built in rain cover can be installed in seconds to protect the bag from the rain or snow. It appears to be quality made and built to last. It has a great way to store a tripod on the side, and because it is on the side you can get to your gear without having to remove the tripod. That is also a nice useful feature.

What it doesn't have is a lot of pockets or a place to stick a notebook. I ended up deciding that is a good thing because I pack only camera gear in this bag, and will just have to put the other stuff in another bag, so when I grab this bag it has the gear I need to shoot and don't have to remove anything. Might have given it 5 stars but I haven't had it that long and don't have experience with other bags to compare it with.

This case was a tad tight for my new Fuji, but like most of my reviews I let a few weeks go by so I get some use out of the product before reviewing t so the review will be more accurate.

I get tired of reading reviews where the reviewer's words make it obvious they just ordered the product or just took it out of the box and are for all practical purposes reviewing online stats about it or pure looks rather than actual real world use of it.

As mentioned, when I first tried to fit my camera into this case it was a tight fit and the flap did not want to stay closed.

I found that "working" the leather like I did a baseball mitt when I was a kid did the trick.

For the non baseball players that means flexing the leather case a bunch with and without the cam in it.

Especially, pulling and twisting on the leather flap lightly a bunch of times will break in or stretch the leather so the flap will remain closed.

The leather seems of good quality and I have no complaints about the stitching or magnetic clasp.

Once properly broken in the case fits the camera snugly and the flap will stay securely closed like you would want it to, but also allow you to easily put the camera in and pull it back out for use.

You can attach the case to your belt and as it is just large enough for the camera it protects the camear while remaining comfortable to care.

I found inserting the camera in upside down, lens outward on my right side (I am right handed) worked best for me to bring the camera up in the ready to shoot position.

Of course, it would work well in a purse as well.

I bought this case with the Fuijifilm Finepix Z800Exr and both products were delivered promptly. The camera fits somewhat loosely inside the case as it moves around but there's no danger of it falling out. The case protects the camera from dust, scratches, and minor falls. Anything more than that would damage the camera. There's also a belt clip on the case which comes in handy when you have your hands full.

I got this as a basic case for my Fuji ZD5 FD. Fits like a glove. Well built case but the magnetic latch also keeps the camera quickly accessible without having to fumble with snaps or zippers.

A few reviews seems to suggest it didn't fit their camera, but it's not clear which model they were trying to fit. But for the ZD5, it fits perfectly.

The only feature missing (which would have been simple and unobtrusive) is a space for a spare memory card or two. I dock it one star for that, but otherwise, exactly what I was looking for.

I still liked the neoprene idea, so I went for the envelope case, and I'm glad! It fits my Nikon S9200 fairly snugly, but not annoyingly so, and its also the perfect size for keeping in my purse. This line of DSLR backpacks represents the Flagship of Lowepro's urban adventurer.

CONSTRUCTION

The Lowepro Pro Runner 450 AW DSLR backpack is constructed of durable black 600d Polyester on its exterior and 210d Nylon PU Velex in its interior. The difference between this and its cousin, the 350 AW, is the larger capacity for longer lenses (300 mm versus 70-200 mm), more accessories(4 to 6 versus 3 to 4), and a larger widescreen laptop (17" versus 15.4"). AW stands for All Weather.

Carrying methods are flexible: conventional backpack carry, side carry and top carry. A durable feeling rubber grip on the side and top is comfortable. This facilitates easy navigation through customs, airport security and through busy terminals. The shoulder straps are padded, and the weight distribution is eased by the chest and waist straps. The weight of the bag without equipment is 6 pounds.

VERSATILITY

This bag is very big but it will still fit into an overhead compartment on an airplane (under current standards, May 2010): 13.4W X 11.4D X 19.9H in (Exterior). There is even an internal padded compartment for a notebook: 12.2W X 1.8D X 15.6H in and this fits my 15.4" Macbook Pro comfortably. It is located along the left side of the pack (when it is on your back) secured by a zipper.

The interior is subdivided with compartments that can be adjusted with padded dividers fastened by Velcro. The dividers are completely removable which allows me to use this as a convenient overnight bag, also. There is surrounding padded on the top, sides and bottom of the backpack's housing. It is up to your imagination to what configuration best suits the weight distribution of your valuables. This will fit a full sized SLR with a 300 mm lens. Depending upon the lenses that you carry, this will accommodate for 4 to 6 lenses/external flash/handheld meter/other accessories. What attracted me, also, was the ability to carry a compact sized tripod when traveling. An all weather cover is included, to protect your valuable equipment from rain. A padded mesh backpad facilitates the comfort of carrying. Zipper closure is augmented with a snap buckle closure.

The front pocket has a space for a small foldable poncho or rolled up T-shirt/gym shorts. The small pocket for passports is about 11 inches tall and about 4.5 inches wide. There is a small clip to hold keys. 2 four inch wide flat compartments for small items, a Velcro secured pouch, and a legal sized pocket for folders or magazines. The All Weather Cover is secured in the bottom of the front flap by Velcro. The nylon cover with elastic sides is sewn to the inner compartment, minimizing the chance for losing it. The quick release helps for covering the valuables in less than 15 seconds.

The inner pocket has plastic lined compartments secured by zippers. There are two padded pockets secured by Velcro to store memory cards.

The versatility of this bag is that there are so many pockets that allow for the user to have complete organization for travel. An outside pocket for documents such as tickets, passports and rental information can be stored. This is Sliplock compatible for adding additional items to the bag.

For those who are ambitious enough to carry every accessory, this can be a heavy backpack. However, the generous padding does alleviate the weight very well.

Design: Very thoughtfully laid out, convenient to use, with every detail accounted for. Especially like the waterproof cover built into the bottom of the bag that's easily accessed in a sudden downpour, and the built-in sideways camera sleeve located near the back. Great organizer front pocket for travel documents and personal items. All the pockets and build-ins remind me of Eagle Creek luggage, which I absolutely love.

Protectiveness: Your gear is completely covered in this thing.

Versatility: The internal padded dividers can be adjusted to conform to your lenses and accessories. Waterproof inside pockets for memory cards and other small items. Or you can remove the interior dividers altogether and use this as a backpack for short trips.

Build quality: This is solidly constructed, and should last for years.

CONS

Bulky: It's fairly big for a smaller framed person. I'm 5'4", and look slightly overwhelmed by this backpack. It's not heavy though (6 lbs), and it's comfortable to carry, thanks to the very padded, adjustable straps.

Looks: Not bad-looking, but a bit generic for those of us who like colorful bags.

It's app. 19" tall, 13" wide and 9" deep. The pack has 3 ways to carry it; two rubber handles, one on the top and one on the side, and thickly padded shoulder straps. There is a well padded mesh backing to wick away moisture from your back. The pack also has a rain flap lid, so if you get caught in foul weather you just pull out the rain cover and you're good to go, side compression straps, slip lock attachment loops, tuck away padded waist belt, mesh side pocket, a zippered pouch in front, straps to hold your tripod, and last but not least a padded laptop compartment that's next to your back.

When you unzip the front flap you will find pockets for your cell phone, MP3 player, pens, keys, documents and other small items. Opening up the main compartment, you will find 13 compartments that are all adjustable. You can remove the shelving to make them taller or shorter depending on your needs. All the compartments are well padded, so there is no fear of any damage to your equipment. Even the front flap has compartments.

This pack is also designed to take on an airplane, but with all the equipment that you can store in this pack it might take you a little while to get through security.

I can also see other uses for this backpack. If you are into research where you needed to pack out into the wilds and bring back samples of say soil or water, the padded compartments would protect your samples.

This is a very well thought out and constructed pack and I believe you would not be disappointed in owning this.

When I ordered this, I didn't think 19 inches was so much, but this can handle so much inside and out. It is well padded on the back and on the body straps. The lower part of the backpack has straps for support of the lower back and hips. There are two carrying handles--one on top and one on the side. There are bands to hold a tripod or monopod on the front and side. There is a side zipper to access the laptop pouch which can hold up to a 17" laptop. I have a 16 inch and it slips right in. On top, underneath the handle, there is a slot hiding a strap to connect it to other luggage. On the front the zipper reveals room to carry miscellaneous or personal items. On the bottom of the front, there is a velcro opening to access the rain pouch. Inside the main section there is so much room for carrying the camera body, many lenses and flashes, and more pockets for storing memory cards or whatever you decide. This backpack leaves plenty of room for customizing the interior to meet your needs. Right now I only own a camera body, an external flash, and three lenses. The only thing it is missing is wheels. Fortunately I have a lightweight trolley that I can use to carry this if I don't want to carry it as a backpack. It's big enough to be a cabin carry case if I take out the velco spacers. There is so much one can do with this bag that I highly recommend it if you travel and want to take plenty of camera equipment with you and know it will be well protected.

I am able to place all of my important gear in it. This includes two DSLRs, one with a telephoto lens attached and another with a wide angle attached. There was also room for a third DSLR body, three more lens, a set of extension tubes, a standard flash unit, a ring flash, with room left over for cleaning equipment, extra batteries, memory cards, etc. It also has a pouch to slide up to a 17 inch laptop and a strap to attach a tripod. Although this is a nice option I personally do not take a laptop on a photo trip. So with the pack pretty much loaded I adjusted the straps and pulled it up to my back. After making some more adjustments with the straps I was very surprised at how comfortable it felt. It is well padded in the right places and as someone with arthritis in the lumbar spine it actually felt good, sort of like a back brace. The following weekend I took it out for a half day trip to the local zoo. I had no problem carrying it for nearly five hours. The only problem of course is that when you need to switch equipment you have to take it off in order to get at it. But that is true of any backpack and can't really be considered a fault. All in all I am very pleased with the bag and I wish I had not taken so long to give it a try. Absolutely a recommended buy.
