I first put my Big Wheel to use on a multi horse farm assignment. The case is a trooper on mixed terrain, even mud. The interior layout is very useful for organization. As usual with cases, don't believe that you can pack as many items as advertised. If I tried to pack two bodies (Canon 5D and Mark III, I could not get my 100-400 L lens in the case. Without the second body, I could pack the telephoto, three other lessor lenses, and hoods if stacked.

As far as air travel, I was able to put this case in the overhead bin of of a 767, otherwise it did not fit, even with the laptop removed. I got away with putting it under the seat in front of me (fitting only with the laptop removed) on two flights with aisle seats, but could not get it under any other seats. I would not consider the case sufficiently padded for check in of my equipment, so this could be a problem.

As far as everyday use and auto transportation, I love it!

I don't think this case would stand up to the rigors of a professional toting a kit around, but for a hardcore enthusiast (and me!) it seems pretty good so far. The big wheels are quiet over sidewalks and don't even notices little bumps and cracks and whatnot.

Pros:

holds a 17" laptop

sized for airline carry-on rules

divider arrangement quite customizable

can hold two bodies each with a (non huge) lens mounted and a pile of lenses and other stuff.

decently padded (i would not check this with my gear in it, though. No f-ing way.)

pull-behind handle is *quite* long and sturdy, so long-legged folk such as myself don't kick it while walking.

fairly light (I have had multiple non-photog specific carry-on bags that were heavier with less padding, less sturdy, etc)

Cons:

expensive (worth the cost increase over the model 5552 for big wheels? I dunno.)

not easily adjusted to accessories (for instance, the shallow depth to keep it carry-on size doesn't allow a Speedlight to be placed standing up)

no spots for standard digital accessories (no CF pockets, no Battery pockets), only the six 4" square pockets on the underside of the 'lid'

no tripod loops (though I rigged something on one of the sides where the MAS stuff can attach with some strapping)

This is a great camera case for transporting camera bodies, lenses etc. I think the beauty of this bag is that the appearance does not screem "PHOTOGRAPHIC GEAR INSIDE". It looks like a normal small clothing travel case. It also meets international luggage standards for Carribean flights.

The Grizzly bean bag really can't be beat for the money. I took it for a weeklong trip along the west coast of FL and put it through some tough terrain including: sand, salt water, and mud. At the end of the day it held up to everything and cleaned up nicely. I received the Pocketdemo flash which was connected with the Triggertrap dongle and Iphone 5. There is a slight flaw in the design with respect to the Pocketdemo since the Iphone 5 socket is at the bottom connecting the Triggertrap. This results in the Iphone 5 being placed either upside down for ease or pushed up the holder in the upright position. Otherwise it is a fine product.

I gave 3 stars because I had mailed beforehand to inquire whether this was compatible with Iphone 5 and the reply was "yes" but it is not compatible due to the design flaw.

I had mailed to Bruno Rousseau of PocketDemo Flash on this aspect but yet to receive any reply from his side.

I ordered this protective case for my Nikon S9100. The camera fits well in the case.

The case seems to be well made and is certainly well designed including a belt loop as well as the neck strap.

A lens brush stick and a memory card reader were included as a bonus. I am particularly impressed with the memory card reader which will accept SDHC flash memory cards and utilizes a built-in USB connector.

There is also a front accessory pocket to carry extra memory cards, batteries, etc. I usually carry the battery charger separately from my camera, so I have plenty of room in the pocket.

The camera compartment has a zipper to close the compartment and the front accessory pocket closes with a velcro type fastener.

I guess I expected this case to be a real Cordura or Denier nylon case. The outer layer is the same material that is used to make the reusable grocery bags, and is the same thickness=THIN. This bag is absolutely NOT durable and is not any type of nylon. I should have known since it was not mentioned in the item description as being nylon. The belt loop is the same thin material and is not double stitched or cross stitched for durability, it will be the first thing to go if you use the belt loop feature. The description claims that this item is a premium quality bag, but this is absolutely innacurate. This is a bargain basement bag that should only be purchased if it is going to be used for light duty use. The padding material feels firm, but is thin; no more than 3 mm thick, and will not protect a camera from falls, drops or anything other than general light-outdoor activities. I am in the military and I camp regularly and have high expectations of the products I use. I will not be using this case as it will not adequately protect my camera as I had expected based on the description. You can hold something in your hand and know whether it is quality material and workmanship. The only redemptive feature of this package is the tripod that was included. The tripod appears to be sturdy, well-constructed and the legs can be easily manipulated to set your camera up on just about any type of surface and have small rubber tips that appear to be well anchored onto the legs.

Also of note is the external flap that encloses the expansible outside pocket; it does have an adequate hook-pile tape closure, but items stored in the outside pocket are going to be subject to falling out. Batteries, cables, and SD cards in their plastic hard-cases will not remain in the pocket if the bag is tipped upside down or tilted. There is no means to cinch the outside pocket except with the flap. The pull tab on the flap is also not double stitched into the flap and is extremely light duty. If you use this pull tab, it will not hold up well to regular use as only one single stitch of thread is holding it between the sandwiched materials.

NOT premium quality by ANY standard.

Great product! My Nikon Coolpix S9100 fits well into this case with a little extra room. The tripod that it comes with is pretty awesome too, especially because it was "free." The tripod is really tiny though, and to be honest, I'm a little embarrassed to use it in public because it looks so silly (it's that small)! Despite that, this was a great purchase, and I'm glad I finally decided to stop being so stingy and buy a case for my camera!

If you're searching for a case that will protect your camera, this is not it. Although well made for what it is, the BodyBag Pro Telephoto by LensCoat is made of only 3mm wetsuit neoprene. It will not adequately protect your valuable DSLR from bumps and scratches. And at a cost of over $30.00, you could buy a whole wetsuit for that amount. I've returned the product and instead I've purchased an $11.00 padded/insulated lunch cooler commonly available at discount retailers. The lunch cooler is compact, well padded, cheap and provides much more protection than the LensCoat product. I would have bought a USA Gear Flexarmor which is much thicker at 6mm but a research of reviews reveals that it isn't quite large enough to adequately fit a Nikon D7000 and 18-200mm lens. Note to manufactures: Design a compact, well-padded case that fits my DSLR & lens and I will buy it.

I purchased the item in black due to the price difference between it and the same item in camo that would match my other lenscoat stuff. it does its job to protect the camera and also fits with the battery module on and the 70-300mm Nikon lens attached. I only give it 4 stars because it is difficult to get the camera in and out of. Other than that I would recommend this product as a protective cover for your camera.

I wanted a case for my G12 and did some serious shopping on Amazon and the net. For the money this is a decent case. Not sure if it is real leather or not though. The entire inside is covered in a well-stitched man-made seude, so I can't tell. The snap buttons for rhe front and the sides work well and there is a tripod mount on the bottom. The camera attaches to the case using the attached male-female tripod mounting screw. The female side of the tripod screw is then exposed on the bottom outside of the case as to allow your camera to be attached to your tripod. You still need to remove the case bottom to change the camera battery, otherwise the case can remain on the camera at all times.

update: i ordered another vanguard case, the VGC-13, after i got this one. they make a good pair, but if you're trying to choose one, get the other one. it's bigger and less expensive with the same quality. (otherwise, you'll end up getting it anyway as your gear selection grows.) in retrospect, i would recommend this more as storage for just your camera (w/cables, memory cards, filters, speedlight) or if you have a small (2-3 lens) outfit. get the vgc-13 if you have a lot of lenses (more than 5) and/or a long telephoto lens.

i ordered the vanguard hard case because i didn't want to just toss my extra lenses in a backpack. also, i live in california, so you never know when an earthquake might hit.

when it arrived today--beating the shipping estimate by over a week--i was fairly impressed out of the box. it's brushed aluminum hardware and sides, backed with slightly ribbed ABS plastic on the outside. on the inside, there's a waffle-foam top, a two-layer foam bottom, several rubber section dividers, and a dice-pattern foam sheet. the dividers slide together into any number of configurations, the foam can be used to custom-fit pieces. you also get two keys for the front locks and a shoulder strap that clips onto the side.

it's a rugged-seeming package that doesn't look cheap, but is a bit on the small side--amazon offers no specs, but this is the VGP-13S model, the dimensions are 15.75" x 9.9" x 6.9"--although compact might be a more politically-correct term.

after loading it up with some gear, here's what i was able to fit into it:

-70-300 tele w/ hood

-12-24 wide angle w/ hood

-15 fisheye w/ hood

-50 prime

-flash

-two 3-filter kits and 3 loose filters

-two extra batteries.

obviously, this is not a solution to hold all your gear if you have much more than 2 lenses and one body. then again, the relatively small size does offer a degree of portability, even if its just from one end of your studio to another. the handle's nice and sturdy, but the nonpadded strap would probably get uncomfortable after more than about 5 minutes, although the case isn't all that heavy loaded up, unless you fill it with bricks or something.

I decided to give the Vanguard 5 stars because this unit did what i wanted it to do, which was secure my gear in the event of any unforseen accidents, like accidentally siting on a lens or filter i've left on the couch. even without cutting out the foam and fitting them into the partitioned dividers, it held the gear steady in the upright position--no jostling or rustling. i may leave the foam sheet untouched, so i can reconfigure it easier, but if you want to have a dedicated home for specific items you don't always need in your camera bag, this isn't a bad choice. i couldn't fit some of my lens pouches, cables, and the like, but those things aren't as in dire need of being properly secured as all your precious glass and/or body(s), so no biggie.

overall, this is a versatile case that's just big enough to be a stay-at-home unit, and just small enough to venture out w/ you on a shoot. does exactly what you'd expect, has a professional appearance, and is a good looker to boot. if you're an extreme gearhound, at the price it might be worth it to get two, although you might also want to look into the wheeled model, which is a bit bigger, for around twice the price, especially if you plan on carrying this around a lot.

bottom line: why expose expensive glass and/or your camera to danger or possible damage? protect your investment -after all, it's cheaper than sending a bag full of lenses in for warranty service if your drunk uncle roy has a mishap while watching WWF or NASCAR.

After looking at and using MANY brands of equipment case for photography, sound and video equipment I finally discovered Vanguard Diamond ABS cases--and will never go back to another brand again. These are indestructible, lightweight, lockable, very classy looking and most important of all about half the price of comparable cases from other name-brand manufacturers. I've used them now for over a year of intensive use in my high school video and photography classes and they still look brand new. Trust me, other cases costing twice as much did not survive!

This particular case is the perfect size for a large digital still camera (such as the Canon Digital Rebel) and an accessory lens or two. I also use this size for my Sony PDX-10 video cameras and the case is deep enough to keep the mic attached all the time, saving setup time as well as wear and tear. The case is just barely big enough for that, which is perfect for me but if you want accessories in the case with a video camera I'd reccomend the next size up instead.

The pick-n-pluck foam makes it easy to customize the case to fit your equipment. No complaints, and highly recommended.

(Okay, one complaint. Annoyingly, amazon doesn't seem to tell you the dimensions of the various Vanguard cases, nor sometimes even the model number so you're left guessing which case you're ordering. Hopefully this will be fixed soon, right amazon?!)

I ordered this case because it was a little deeper than others without being overly bulky. I wanted to fit my digi Rebel XT without removing the battery grip. This case does, although it is very snug (I removed the 3/4" piece of foam below the "pick and pluck" layer for a little extra room).

Before buying this I tried the Adventure 74, which is just slightly smaller and slightly less expensive. Ultimately I returned that and upgraded to this, the Adventure 75. Besides the size, there are two major improvements with this model. 1) There is a drawstring over the zipper for the main compartment. This helps keep water out if you get caught in the rain. 2) This has two accessory pockets inside the main compartment and the Adventure 74 only has one. With two compartments, you can keep bigger, bulkier items (like batteries) separate from more fragile items (like filters, lens cleaning paper, etc.). To be honest, I didn't really need the extra room in the 75, but having these two features made it worth the extra cost for the upgrade. Besides, now I have room to upgrade!

I use this backpack for outdoor photography, and I must say that it is solid. I was so impressed with Tamrac that I just ordered the Tamrac 5613 camera bag to haul and store all my gear for bigger / more formal events. That is the only drawback to the backpack, space can be limited once you start adding lenses and a second camera (but then I started asking myself why would i want to carry so much equipment on my back on a hiking trip anyway?) So I recommed thinkng ahead to what you plan to own down the road. For me, this bag is a keeper for venturing out in the wilderness.

I've had this bag for a few years now, and it's served me well through many weddings and other shoots.
