I ordered the WP700, yet I received the WP711. This review sits separate from the 3-star review I gave the company who sold/shipped this to me via Amazon. See the WP700 product page for which company that is.

That said...

NOTES AND TRICKS

I was concerned I'd run into issues fitting my Sony TX-7 into this case, however after a weekend of underwater shooting I can't say I've had any problems. I highly recommend watching the youtube videos for this product to make sure you're properly sealing the pack after inserting your camera. On a full touchscreen camera like the TX-7, getting the air out of the pack as much as possible before sealing it up ensures a) the camera won't move around much, and b) there's no air or air bubbles to interfere with the controls on the back. Also, and I'm no scientist, but it seems logical that the less air that's inside the pack, the less room there'd be for condensation buildup. Dicapac includes a minuscule silica packet to counteract any humidity, though I have a hard time seeing how effective a small packet like this would be for a very prolonged period of time.

ACCESS & CONTROL

This section definitely depends on your individual camera, but here's my experience.

Once you've properly sealed the pack, and you've double checked that the rectangular "window" around the lens and flash isn't blocking either one of those components, you're good to go. Using a fingertip, I was able to change my settings at will through the plastic of the Dicapac. The TX-7's mock rotary zoom wheel on the upper-right corner of the camera was slightly difficult to reach through the plastic, however once I realized what sort of pressure worked in what place (working somewhat blind given the right edge of the Dicapac obscured the very right edge of the camera's hardware) the zoom controls became moderately comfortable.

QUALITY

Again, this will depend largely on your camera, but I was quite happy with the results through the Dicapac. There was a very minor sheen when I used the "incandescent light" scene mode on the TX-7 which didn't exist with the camera outside of the Dicapac, but much of your success or failure in high detail shots will depend on the space between the plastic and the lens. If you press directly down on the shutter, the plastic may bulge out a bit in the front, adding unwanted distortion to the shot. Damping down the plastic, going from the front of the camera over the top toward the back, will keep the plastic from bulging out. Shooting underwater with a $30 waterproof pack will certainly create a small amount of degradation but nothing which would lead to an undesirable photo. Video seems sharp as well, and (I say this as a novice) it seems that you'd notice the difference in quality less during video given how artifacts are more likely to show up in a frame rather than in fluid motion.

THE AFTERMATH

I left the camera in the pack for a few days. At the end of those few days, moments after last using it, I took it out to watch the results on my tv. I was quite surprised at how much water was absorbed by the velcro. Hours later, there was still a small bit of residual moisture. A smart move might be to grab a hair dryer, set it on low, and from a distance dry out the velcro. The plastic seems heavy enough to be unaffected by a hair dryer set on low, but you can't be too careful with something tasked with protecting an expensive camera. The realization from this was that the ziploc-style seal is, in the end, the only thing keeping the camera from becoming an expensive paperweight. It's rolled up many times over, and it's something I feel I can trust, but if you like your camera MAKE SURE THAT THE SEAL IS TIGHT.

I'd feel comfortable buying this again, especially since if I'm ever in a weird bind it would also work perfectly well as a cellphone case or a carryall for my keys/credit card/ID as I'm out at the beach & in the water. Just make sure you're getting what you ordered.

I recently bought a WP711 for a trip to Hawaii to use with my Fuji FinePix Z30. This is my backup camera and did not cost much, so I did not mind risking it. I tested the WP711 as soon as I received it, and it worked fine in the sink. I then used it on 6 salt water snorkeling trips (ranging from 30 90 min) over a 2 week span with no leaks. This was mostly at the surface, but also included a few quick trips to 6-8 feet underwater. Based on the other reviews, I was cautious: I made sure everything was well sealed and downloaded all pictures after every use. I don't think I'll use it again for a few months, and I'll definitely redo the sink test before putting my camera in again.

Fitting the FinePix Z30

My Z30 is not a perfect fix in the WP711. There is definitely extra room in the case; however, I found that to be useful. The Z30 on/off mechanism is sliding the front cover to the left/right, which is not easy to do through the case (the case material tends to suction to the camera, which is good for keeping the lens lined up, but bad for sliding pieces around). Having the added space to shift the camera around allowed me to get the camera on/off when needed. That was a chore, so on later trips I made sure to start with a full battery, turn the camera on before going in the water, and leave it on for the whole trip.

Image quality

This obviously depends a lot on the camera (and mine is not great), but I did not find the WP711 to noticeably reduce the image quality. It did affect the flash, so I learned not to use that. Here's one of my clearest shots, taken in about 5 feet of water with lots of light:

I found that I got clearer shots when diving a few feet below the surface and shooting more horizontally. This probably has more to do with my camera and lighting than the WP711, but I don't know for sure.

Conclusion

I would recommend the WP711 to anyone who wants underwater pictures has a camera they're willing to risk. It's given me a lot more and better pictures than the underwater disposable cameras I've used in the past.

I bought this for an older sony cybershot..hoping it would work..but figured if it didn't no worries..it's an older camera anyways!! It worked like a charm!! We took it snorkeling with us in Honduras and Belize and had no problems with leaking..the camera stayed dry and we got great coral, sting ray, fish, etc underwater pix!! Definitely recommend this product..just be careful not to leave too much air in the bag or the camera will "float" around in it and you take the chance of the lens moving right in front of the line..which will mess up your pix. :)

Honest reviews on DiCAPac WP711 145x95mm Small Inner Zoom Waterproof Case with Soft

I bought this to use while snorkeling. After the second day, there seemed to be moisture in the bag, and the plastic no longer looked clear. I must say that it did keep the camera dry and I took a lot of underwater pictures and videos and they came out ok, but I will look around for something else for my next trip. I didn't love it.

I bought this for my Olympus 720 SW. "But it's a waterproof camera!", you ask. Reading reviews online for the CAMERA, it seemed about 10-20% of the time, water would leak into the camera and ruin it, so I bought this Dicapac pouch as an added layer of protection.

Unfortunately, I had a few problems with this pouch.

1) When doing outdoorsy things that might require a pouch like this, the user is also likely to be wearing sunscreen and insect repellent. As such, it was easy to smudge the outer plastic just by inadvertently touching (i.e., if the pouch hits my arm or leg) so that it made photos very cloudy. It was difficult to "wash off" while in the water, so generally photos were cloudier than they should have been. Even when the pouch was perfectly clean I found that taking photos through the plastic distorts photos somewhat.

2) The pouch itself isn't quite the right fit for the Olympus 720 SW, even though the WP-711 is the recommended size by the Dicapac manufacturer for this camera. As a result, I struggled with the camera moving around inside the pouch, and often the rectangle on the front that is intended to take photos within would migrate so that the edge of the rectangle was right in the middle of the photo lens. This also ruins a fraction of photos.

3) It's a little unwieldy to take photos through the pouch.

4) Yes, my camera stayed absolutely dry within this pouch.

5) My Olympus 720 SW was indeed successful when NOT using this pouch at remaining waterproof. My best photos from snorkelling are WITHOUT the pouch much sharper and clearer.

Having the pouch and having cloudy/blurry photos with a camera that didn't get wet is still somewhat better than the blurry photos that I generally take with disposable water proof cameras, but removing the pouch and successfully being able to use the waterproof feature of my camera made the pouch seem useless. Other users who don't have naturally waterproof cameras whose cameras may fit this pouch a bit better may still find value from using the pouch.

I just with the rectangle on the front of the pouch weren't there that seems to only be a potential barrier for anyone using this size.

Overall no issues with Ocean Reef Electronics. The item was shipped promptly and in new condition.

I wanted a bag to hold my Nikon D40 with the 18-200 mm lens attached and just enough room to fit the SB-400 speedlight on the side. This bag is well designed for that purpose and has a little room left over for memory cards, usb cable etc. The length is a little tight with a filter on the lens, but it still fits fine...just no space for extra padding there. The bag also comes with an all weather cover that tucks out of sight when not in use.

I purchased this bag for the Nikon D90-it just fits the camera with the 18-105 kit lens attacheda litte tight with the lens hood but otherwise perfect. It won't hold anything else but some SD cards but perfect if you're looking for that compact bag to just hold your camera and lens.

I ordered this Apex 120 for my Canon G7, Conversion Adapter, Filters and Macro Lens + Accessories and it WAS TOO BIG. I put all that stuff into the Apex 120 and still had plenty of room left. I am going to return the Apex 120 and buy a Apex 100. I love the material; it will definitely protect my camera while I bang it around in my line of work. Now, I read the reviews for Apex 100 and they say it's great for Canon G or S size cameras. I will update when I receive the Apex 100.

As a job I travel about filming various abandoned locations (this sounds weird, but it's true).

This bag has been my traveling companion through countless broken windows, up numerous trees, and across many state lines.

It has been inside and throughout abandoned asylums, castles, resorts, factories, homes, and hospitals...

I trust it with keeping a lot of expensive equipment safe and secure, it has yet to fail in it's duties.

Having the side-mounted tripod holder is a wonderful feature, and is the thing that actually sold me on the bag.

This bag is far from huge, but carries all of my equipment without being cramped.

It's smaller size is actually a great advantage when you need to be nimble, or climb up something to get a shot.

This backpack comfortably carries the following for me:

My D-SLR camera body (in camera armor).

Two lenses, one of which is a very large wide-angle.

Two external flashes.

Two remote flash receivers and a transmitter.

Two LED flashlights.

A wired remote trigger.

8 AA batteries in a case.

Three Pentax Li-ion batteries.

The wall charger for the Pentax batteries.

My memory cards in their case.

An entire lens and camera cleaning kit (blower, lens cloths, distilled water).

My Jeep keys, my wallet, and my cell phone also come along in the side pocket.

Lastly, on the side of the bag two tripods are secured (one standard size, and a skinny telescoping one for my flashes)

As you can see, this thing has adequate space for most everything you would need to carry on your back.

In fact I could fit more if needed, but I really don't have anything else I need to tote around with me on a daily basis.

My only concern is that the seam on the left shoulder strap is starting to fatigue and some of the stitches are letting loose.

I am partially to blame for this however, since I am not the most gentle person with my bag...

~Rusty

I'll add my two cents in short, I don't even see how they can make and sell this bag at this price. You can spend as much as you want for a similar camera backpack, but you won't get more bang for your buck. Very nice materials, well constructed, with good protection for your equipment. A few reviewers claim this is a bag for "middle class" photographers. Lol. These are folks who still think that owning recognized brand names makes them better photographers. It doesn't. If you don't need something bigger, and you're not going to be putting a huge amount of weight in it, this is a great bag. I keep my medium format camera, two extra lenses, and general paraphernalia in it, and it fits nicely and is comfortable to wear for many hours. You can't go wrong with this one.

Best Deals for Bower SCB1350 Digital Pro Series Sling SLR Backpack

I have scoured the Internet for low priced DSLR backpacks. I refuse to pay $79.99 for a backpack like the lowepro. I settled on this bag. This bag is very spacious, has adjustable/customizable velcro pockets inside for camera, lens, and other items, and has sufficient padding to protect everything. It also has an exterior tripod holder (which I have not used yet). Bag quality is good--the materials and zippers are not cheaply made. All in all, for the price you can't beat this backpack.

Honest reviews on Bower SCB1350 Digital Pro Series Sling SLR Backpack

I can use this backpack to carry/store my SLR camera with 3 lens, accessories, and external flash. It's very flexible and well built (and padded) for the price. The only downsides are if you need to take more then one camera or need something that's waterproof/resistant (or can carry a hydro pack) for extreme hiking. Either way, it is an amazing buy and is highly recommended!

First, this is not a sling, but a back pack. The description say this is a "sling SLR backpack" I bought this on a gamble that was a sling and surprise surprise, it's actually a back pack; but Amazon did a wonderful job of letting me return the product for full refund. Wish they had a picture of the straps or re-word their description.

But for the backpack, the straps are well padded, but the interior compartment and padding felt "cheap" for a $30.00 product. I tried to put my DSLR in the bad and walked around and can feel the camera move around (front to back, not side to side). Additional padding would have solve this problem, but the included padding was very minimal. I also wish they had more padding dividers. The side tri-pod holder works well.

This is a very nice looking, well made leather case that is the perfect size for an S-100 as long as you don't need to bring a spare battery. Snug enough for it not to slip out accidentally , but no difficulty sliding it in or out intentionally. The magnet that holds the cover closed is just the right strength to keep the lid shut. Keep in mind that this is a sleek minimalist case which would not be suitable in a particularly wet or dirty environment as the top sides of the case have a gap where they meet the cover. All in all, an excellent case...

Thule Perspektiv SLR Daypack - Black
Customer Ratings: 4.5 stars
Buy Now
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program I recently reviewed the Tenba Roadie II HDSLR/Video Backpack 638-333. Then I was able to review the Thule Perspektiv. The contrast in design and purpose between the two bags is amazing. The Thule is clearly designed as an SLR daypack for wilderness adventurers who need to move fast with agility; compared to the Roadie II, which is more geared toward urban day adventurers. As you would expect, the Thule bag is quality made. Though I did not hear of them much before, my research shows the company is very well regarded as producing high quality products with great customer support. Interestingly, I read some product reviews putting down this bag. I am not sure if they were accurate because I checked this bag and found all the complaints of other reviewers to be largely unfounded.

Upon opening the box, I was impressed with the sleek outer design of the bag. Clearly the design of the bag was conceived with the purpose of avoiding entanglement in the wilderness. Construction and design was done with great detail to include overlapping flaps to keep out rain, interior seam sealing, double walled construction, quality heavy duty zippers, compression straps, heavy padded shoulder straps. I particularly like the quick release buckles to drop the pack in a split second, clearly designed to help you in emergency situations. The entire bag is made of water repellent material and a rain cover is included. All zippers are self sealing and water proof with interior seams. The top loading component of the pack uses "cloudburst technology," relying on welded and taped key seams, and a self sealing zipper to prevent water entry. A key failing of the bag, in my opinion, is the bottom construction. It is constructed of hard waterproof plastic with no padding. I would have preferred to see special non-skid reinforced and padded construction. I could not find any decent padding that would adequately protect against a major fall. But, I can overlook this aspect since the bag is clearly designed for ultra mobility.

Compared to more traditional day packs, exterior pockets are limited. A nice feature is the exterior tripod/monopod holder, which you will find incredibly useful. The limited number of pockets provide fast access to memory cards, batteries, and smaller gear. The interior compartment is easily accessible in a sling manner like the Lowepro Fastpack 250 Camera/Laptop Backpack or Lowepro SlingShot 202 AW. In fact, the bag designs are very similar. The interior compartment can be modified with included dividers though I found it somewhat limiting compared to larger and heavier bags, but it will fit a Nikon D300s with battery pack and a 70-300 f2.8 with plenty of room for Speedlights and additional lenses. Just keep in mind you will be forced to make gear carrying choices to maintain that mobility that caused you to buy the bag. The top loading compartment is padded and can be removed. In fact, the entire interior of the bag can be removed to convert the pack into a regular backpack. The straps on the bag, just as the bag itself, are ergonomically designed to be worn under intense conditions all day.

This bag is high quality across the board and designed for adventurers. It is worth comparing the LowePro products I mention if you are looking for a little more versatility. But either way, this bag is a pleasure to use in conditions that other bags would be too bulky or heavy.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program Picture a sling pack, but with a standard pack design. The camera slips in the side pocket, large accessories in top, extra lenses in the same compartment as the camera. The latter is one of the more clever features. Most camera bags with the cradle design waste the space under the camera. Not here the space is available for lenses, flashes, etc. The top pocket has almost zero padding and no way to attach dividers. The bottom is actually hard, like plastic covered in material. You'll need to use the lens bag that came with the lens, a towel something for padding if you use this area for delicate equipment.

I personally find compartments for batteries and cards useless. I use dedicated CF and SD card pouches that provide organization and protection. Same for batteries. The pocket for these is basically a narrow pocket with a water resistant flap. It may hold a lens pen and cleaning cloth, but not much more. There are also two more narrow pockets that are so small, I don't know what you'll use them for. No padding just like putting something in your hip pocket. Yes, they are water resistant, but anything that's not FLAT will be a problem.

The bottom, again, feels like material wrapped plastic. In my opinion this is a failing there is no protection. Every pack I own has rubber feet, a bumper, rubber strip, heavy coating something here, there's nothing. If you treat this rough, it will wear. I also found the tripod attachment system to be pretty useless. For a monopod or Gorilla tripod, yes. Anything else, forget it. I tried two different travel tripods. The top is a strap with a very narrow base the tripod rocks back and forth like crazy. The bottom is just a loop.

All the zippers are weather proofed, either by being water resistant or with a flap. For heavier weather, there's an included water-proof cover that's hidden away between the pack and rear portion of the waist belt.

It's a solid four stars everything is quality, the pack is rigid, the waist strap nicely padded, the check clip can be positioned nicely, and the camera/lens compartment has plenty of padding. I'll add a bunch of photos shortly.

Best Deals for Thule Luggage Perspektiv Daypack

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program This "backpack" for photographers/videographers is quite handy for those times when you need to carry lots of gear into distant/remote shooting locations. It's very comfortable and designed to be weather resistant. The shoulder padding is good and there's also padding for the upper/lower back and on the waist strap. There's also a chest strap which does not have any padding.

Inside there are two main internal compartments...one on the top and one on the bottom. The bottom one can be completely removed from the main backpack, while the top one cannot. The bottom compartment has dividers for a couple extra lenses, external flash unit, light meter, batteries etc and one camera/lense combo. This compartment has its own carrying handle for when you want to remove and carry it from the main backpack. When left inside the main backpack access to this sub-pack can be accomplished via an external zippered flap on the main body of the backpack. In other words you can remove your camera from the backpack without having to completely remove the bottom compartment. The top compartment has enough room for other equipment, however it does not have dividers so care must be taken when storing easily damaged items there.

On the outside there is a side pouch for quick access which can be used to hold a cellphone, flashlight etc. There are also several separate storage areas for small items such as memory cards. Finally a top strap and bottom loop for a tripod is located on the center of the backpack. Stowed away in a secret compartment is a waterproof cover that looks like a large shower cap which can be used to cover the backpack for a double layer of protection. Overall this is a fairly nice quality backpack for the photographer/videographer who needs to carry a good amount of equipment comfortably. It's lightweight, weatherproof and looks good as well.

Honest reviews on Thule Luggage Perspektiv Daypack

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program Thule Perspectiv SLR Day pack lets you carry your camera gear in protected style. This camera bag made by Thule is exactly what you would expect, great construction, padded shoulder straps, reinforced seams, sturdy zipper pulls and quick release clips that let you out of the backpack faster than you can click a shutter.

The exterior pockets allow you to gain easy access to your gear while traveling. A sturdy tripod holder has a quick release clip and a lower loop to keep the pod from swinging. Under that, a flat moisture proof pocket to hold extra gear, like, a light meter. One zippered side flap opens to reveal a moisture proof see thru zippered pouch, and slots for extra SD cards and batteries. There is one roomy expandable exterior pocket. The top of the day pack makes use of "cloudburst technology", welded and taped critical seams, and a sealing zipper to shed water, which helps keep your gear dry. Below that a roomy interior for a secondary camera or other gear that is held securely with Velcro edging and can be reconfigured to fit your gear or removed if necessary.

The main compartment of the bag houses a separate, well-padded unit and removable pod providing a modular option that can be stored in a hotel safe. Large enough to hold up to a DSLR body with attached ultra wide angle lens. It allows for additional lenses and filters.

Thule Perspectiv SLR Day pack is ergonomically correct to let you integrate photography into your active lifestyle. The bag is made of attractive durable water repellent (DWR) treated fabric and in the bottom back of the bag is a hideaway rainfly with taped seams, attached so that it won't get separated from your bag. This bag is really top notch quality.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program Packing: Comes in a standard Amazon box with a plastic sleeve and some of that crumpled paper on the inside.

Quality of Construction (close up pic of weatherized zippers posted):

What I expect from Thule, which is superb. The seams are well done and clean. Stress points are reinforced. The weatherized zippers are an extremely nice touch. Weatherized zippers are definitely not a common find on camera bags/backpacks. Most camera backpacks do one of two things to protect from the zippers from water entry: 1. flap over the zipper. 2. raincover over the whole bag. This Thule weatherizes EVERY outside zipper (4) save one (1) which is the top zipper to access the top compartment. In this case, it just uses a fairly deep flap over the zipper. While you could put a camera in the top compartment, it's not the padded camera case, it is more for snacks/stuff.

Storage (See picture posted for backpack with compartments removed/deconstructed, pic of allowable camera dimensions also posted):

Plenty of storage for a full size SLR camera and a couple of midsize lenses (no space for a long full size telephoto, but for most people, I don't think you'd want to hike around with one of those). For a 4/3 camera, Olympus, Panasonic, Sony NEX, the padded camera storage area is cavernous and can pretty much handle any lens. You can remove the padded camera bag and tote it around with two handles. However, the bag is not easy to remove and not easy to put back in, and that's with the padded bag empty. Also, the padded bag by it self looks ugly and only is padded, but has no other protective fabric on it. Just leave it in. ** Again, I find the SD (3) and CF (2) card slots to be sewn with fabric. (I will reiterate, as I usually do in my reviews, to be wary of residual static discharge that can easily destroy data on the memory card. The reason I like to harp on this is because I have personal experience dealing trying to retrieve lost pics on a card in the middle of winter (when the air is driest) and it was a major PITA. Even with the recovered pics, the corresponding data for each pic (like date) was lost.) While the top strap for the tripod holder is cinchable, I don't know why the same couldn't be done for the bottom holder, which would be better to accommodate all sizes of tripods/monopods/walking sticks.

Comfort:

The bag is is about the appropriate weight for the quality of construction. The shoulder straps are comfortable and the backpack is added for BOTH shoulder blades and lumbar area. There is an elastic chest strap, which can be moved up and down around 4 inches on the shoulder straps , which is a thoughtful touch since people come in all different sizes and proportions. The waist strap is padded and small, which is also good in my book since this bag is only for camera EQ a modest amount of hiking essentials; it's not like I'm carrying bunch of camping supplies in here.

Overall:

Quality of construction, thoughtful features, plenty of normal camera storage = 5 stars. I've developed high expectations for Thule backpacks, and this one doesn't disappoint. So for a serious hiking trip with a moderate amount of camera gear, this backpack should work just fine. You can check out REI for their selection of camera backpacks, but I didn't really find anything that I liked as well as this one.

After a week of using a case that was too large for the Sony HX1, I finally broke down and purchased this case. I'm happy to say this is very close to being the perfect carry around case for me. I wanted something that could protect the camera while the strap is either around my neck or shoulder, but also let me access the camera quickly so I can take some shots right away. This case does that. Here are my pros and cons after carrying it around a few days:

Pros

Nice hard shell with a leather-like soft skin (real leather? Not sure)

Clam shell design with magnets that keep lid closed make it easy to access the camera

I like using the neck strap to carry the camera around instead of a separate bag strap

Fits the HX1 perfectly (it should since its specifically made for it)

Very elegant looking

Battery pouch is a nice touch

A loop secures the case to your neck strap so it won't fall when you whip out the camera for action shots

Cons

I wish there was another pocket to carry extra memory cards

The belt loop is okay, but neither of the ends can be detached. Belt loops are so much handier when you can just snap it around your belt and then snap it off without having to take off your belt

There is no space for anything other than your camera so you'll need something else to store your battery charger and cables

The instructions that come with the case recommend you use this case with the neck strap over one shoulder. The neck strap that comes with the HX1 is a bit short to make that perfectly comfortable for me, but luckily I had already bought a larger OP/Tech neck strap that lets the case hang at the perfect level for me to grab quickly. You can certainly still use the case with the camera around your neck if that is your preference.

I'm very happy with this case. It makes me want to take the HX1 to even more places.

The case is made for this camera but the two problems I see are that it is very bulky and difficult to get the camera in and out quickly, and the second is the small strap that you snap around the shoulder strap to hold the case to the camera (which is only good if you are going to carry the camera around and not use it as much, storage to traveling). This little strap almost caused me to drop the camera a few times because I was quickly taking the camera out to take a pictures and I forgot the strap was attached and it was dangling off the shoulder strap and it is quite heavy and awkward. Overall it's a great case to protect the camera with, I just which the design was better.

This is a good quality case if you're simply using it to store your camera while not in use. I returned it because it cannot fit the camera and the neck strap without interfering with the lid closing right the little magnet they have embedded in the case isn't strong enough if anything inside is putting resistance on it closing.

Honest reviews on Sony LCS-HE Soft Carrying Case for DSC-HX1

I took this case with me for my HX1 to Hawaii this summer and it worked great. Yes it does not carry anything extra other than the camera, but if you're the type to keep the strap around your neck then you shouldn't have any issues with this case. If you hook the strap up to the loop you can take your camera out of the case for quick use easily w/o dropping the case. The belt loop case for an extra battery is great if you plan on going through the camera supplied battery in a day or dont' have anywhere to recharge but its not really necessary for the casual amateur who can recharge overnight. I gave it four stars instead of 5 though b/c on occaision the case can get in the way if you are rushing a shot or you are using the camera supplied strap over your shoulder instead of neck. Its not the most convienent case sometimes but it gets the job done.

The case is fine and does what it's supposed to do; protect the camera. The directions suggest looping the camera's neck strap through it. Therefore, it's a bit awkward to have the case hanging on your neck strap, but also see the logic...you do not run the risk of dropping it. Having the attached spare battery attachment is great. There is NO room for anything else in the case. The camera fit is "snug" and is somewhat difficult getting the camera out of it quickly. It's a good investment to protect your Sony DSC-HX1.
