This is a very versatile, well-designed pack for a digital photographer with a laptop, camera and *some* accessories. There is even room left over for some clothes and other personal items! I looked around for something cheaper that would do what I want and nothing else came close. The build quality is also the best that I found.

The first reason you get a pack of any kind is the function. The function of this pack is for the serious digital photographer on the go that has a DSLR, 2-3 lenses, flash, LAPTOP, cords, batteries, memory cards, etc. The separate pocket for the laptop to me was a must so that you could pull it out at airport security checks without messing up everything else in the bag. It is well padded and has a side opening which is really smart it keeps out rain even when open and the weight of the bag will not pull it open as with top opening pockets. The bottom compartment is also adequately padded and compartmentalized for your camera equipment (again, keeping everything separate is nice). The compartments can be moved around due to the velcro. The bottom compartment has pleats that help it to "hinge" open for access when the pack is tight and it can be closed quickly with a fastex clip.

The top pocket is smaller than you would expect, considering that this is a pretty big backpack, but that is the price of a padded laptop and camera compartment. This compartment has one built-in and one removable memory card wallet. there is an additional mesh pocket to contain cords, etc. The rest of the space is adequate for a change of clothing packed tightly.

On the outside is a nifty fold-up tripod holder that is a not as useful as I thought it would be. If a good-sized tripod is in it, it is in the way of the bottom camera compartment and the pullout rain cover. You could attach a tripod to the right side (opposite side of the laptop opening), but that not nearly as sturdy. There are a few small, thin zipper pockets on the outside and two mesh pockets for a small bottle of water.

Finally, the straps are very good, curved ergonomically with a sternum clip and the waistbelt is also nicely padded. With a lot of effort the waistbelt can be taken off for casual use. The belt would be good for extended walking, hiking, biking.

The downsides to this bag are the price and moderately exessive weight, but these I think are worth it in the end to protect/carry several thousand dollars worth of equipment and do it well.

I bought the Lowepro sligshot bag this Winter for a Ski trip and was impressed by it's build quality and ergonomics, so when I picked up a new laptop, I looked for a larger bag that I could load all of my gear in.

The CompuRover fits all of my gear with a little extra space. The build quality is excellent, very sturdy, lots of padding for your expensive equiptment. The zippers are all metal and rubberized on important seams. The Tripod pocket and straps are strong and rugged I wouldn't be worried about carrying around a 5 10lb tripod with it. I was a little worried about the placement of the camera pocket on the bottom of the bag as my DSLR will be facing lense down. But there is ample padding, and the weight of the laptop actually goes behind the pocket, so there won't be any weight pressing down on your camera. The placement of the pocket is actually a godsend, as it sits in the small of your back and makes for a much more comfortable hike considering the weight of all of the gear you're hauling around. I have no regrets buying the bag, it's been worth it.

I wanted a catch all type of camera bag that I could use to cut down on the amt. of bags when traveling. This is really really big as far as size-compared to what i'm used to. I was able to put my Canon Rebel XT w/ 17-55mm lens in it along w/ a macro & telephone lens & hoods plus all the cables, cards, etc. I originally got the bag for the additional computer compartment -it's a little tight but it fits. if you don't mind the "bulk" of this bag it's good. The top section holds my underwater camera & external flash & extra gear for that. It seems like no matter what i throw in this thing i still have room. on the down side, the zipper around the camera section only has one zip = it isn't a 2way zipper so that's burdensome. the bottom slides out like a cooler. weird. bottom line, it holds everything, it's studry & it's big.

I've owned this bag for just over 2 years now and just sold it. The bag is very well made and while I didn't put it through much abuse, I am pretty certain it would hold up quite well. My main concern when choosing a bag was that it could carry my laptop, it's a bit large about 15" x 10" x 1.5" and the CompuRover carried it with plenty of room to spare. The bag is very comfortable even when loaded up pretty well. In a day-long trek around Chicago with my bag loaded pretty well and a tripod strapped on, I only began to feel it after several hours. Admittedly, I don't have much gear 350D, 70-200 f4L, Tamron 18-50, plus a few small accessories so if you have a lot of glass to haul around, it may take its toll on your back a bit quicker. One thing to consider with this bag is that it leaves quite a foot print when strapped on; more so if you're carrying a tripod. I had a difficult time negotiating my way on and off the El train to avoid hitting passengers. If you'll be in crowds then avoid carrying this bag with you common sense, I know, with a bag this big.

The bag's storage was a big selling point as I intended to use it as a day pack as well as a camera bag. It has plenty of room for snacks, light jacket, etc. I used it many a time as a diaper bag for trips to the zoo or park with my daughter.

One of my favorite features is also one that annoyed me a bit: the tripod carrier. It was great to carry it hands-free but the carrier itself utilizes a shoelace-like cord that tied down the tripod nicely, very secure, but when trying to put in or take out the tripod the clamps on the legs and the feet on the tripod would get a bit tangled with the cord. I don't really need to get out the tripod in a hurry but it was still a bit frustrating. The way the tripod carrier is attached also still allows access to your camera gear, just make sure to keep the zippers off to one side. Another downside to the tripod carrier is that you can't utilize it with the all-weather cover; it would've been nice to have additional velcro straps on the bottom to strap in the tripod so you could still carry it with the cover in place.

Another issue I had, and don't blame this on the bag, is I couldn't arrange the dividers in the bottom compartment in a fashion that allows me to carry my camera with the 70-200 attached and still have the dividers be sturdy enough to carry my other lens and gear securely. It may have been my lack of creativity with rearranging them, but the lack of rigidity in the dividers played a part I think. Again, not knocking the bag for this as it may have just been a lack of trying on my part.

I actually just sold the bag in favor of something smaller/lighter. I realized I don't really carry my laptop and tripod with me, but did want a bag that can carry my body + 70-200 attached and will allow quicker access. I'm giving the Slingshot 300 a try. Lowepro also has the FastPack 350 which has the quicker access and laptop storage but it gives up the tripod carrier and all-weather cover. The tripod carrier I don't need, but I can't give up the all-weather cover and the FastPack is only *slightly* smaller than the CompuRover.

Overall, I was very satisfied with my CompuRover experience, but ultimately I think I over estimated my needs so it just wasn't exactly the right bag for me but it worked out great when I could utilize it properly.

If I could have looked at this bag in a store for two minutes I would have known not to buy it. I like everything about this bag except opening the camera compartment. I have the Rover AW II, which is very similar to this bag, so I knew you couldn't get to the camera gear fast, but this bag makes it even more awkward because of the laptop compartment. I wish they would put a zippered flap on the side of the bag for quick access to the camera like on the Lowepro Fastpack or Tamrac Aero Speed Pack.

This bag looks nice and seems to be well made, I really want to keep it, but because it is so difficult to access the camera gear I am going to return it to Amazon.

In June i was looking for float strap to use with digital camera, I had for my trip to the Dominican Republic in the same month.

This float strap was the perfect one for me, but at first i was hesitant about purchasing this particular float strap. Because of the good reviews and some of the mixed reviews as well, I but I took a chance on it anyway.

It did everything that I needed ti do, while i was on vacation in the Dominican Republic. I knew that i was going to be in the pool a lot and out in the ocean, if it were being at the resort or out on an excursion. Their wasn't anything that I didn't like at all about this product, because it did everything i needed it to do. It fit around my wrist really well, it wasn't too bulky for me, and it didn't slide too much around my wrist. I have rather large wrist so it accommodated me very well. I'd recommend this product to anyone.

Neat idea. Nice quality and finish. A little bulkier than I need for my camera. Would not have bought if they included ALL dimensions. They only indicated that it was 3.5" and I would have appreciated better information. Case was inexpensive but shipping was $7.35. It was not worth the cost of returning it. I will find some other use for the case.

The weights worked wonderfully but there were three things I'd like to point out before singing it's praises.

1.) As I was diving with the camera, the weights eventually worked themselves loose and had to be tightened about every 2 dives.

2.) The main screw that holds the weights together and on the camera (and that kept working its way loose) was the part that rusted, despite regularly soaking it in fresh water and drying it after diving.

3.) I met at least 4 other people with a canon underwater housing and only one other had weights for their camera. Everyone else said they didn't really need them. As for the two of us that had the weights, we only used two from that pack of 4 and the weighted case bumped off of stuff because it was dangling below, rather than hovering with me.

I got these for the case I purchased for my 700 IS and the most useful thing in the box was the manual. It tells you how to find out how many weights your camera model requires (which in my case was none!!!) So while these weights work great if you need them, make sure you do before you buy. Look around for Canon's underwater photography guide which should help clue you in.

The Dublin10, the smallest case in the Dublin product line, fits the Sony TX30 camera perfectly. It has a small memory card slot which holds the micro SD card adapter perfectly. The opening of the case is slightly smaller than the rest of the case which is designed to make sure the camera doesn't slip out unintentionally.

Well, I'll make my first admission I am no photographer, so I have no need to carry around large quantities of expensive photographic equipment. However, if I was, I would certainly consider this as a means of doing so. It is without doubt a very impressive, high quality rucksack.

The 20l main compartment comes with a rather funky integral container with fully configurable compartments for your camera, lenses and other stuff. The container is also well padded so will be nicely protective. Now THAT would make this more or less useless as an ordinary rucksack but and here's the clever bit the container can be removed from the rucksack intact and used, by virtue of a pair of integral carry handles and a draw-string cover, as a functional (if rather dowdy) camera equipment grip. This leaves the rucksack with a large, spacious compartment which I promptly packed with weeks-worth of clothes and my laptop because I'm off on a business trip on Monday. Note that there will still be plenty of room for my regulation duty-free litre of Grouse (which should ironically just drop into the side mounted "hydration pouch") on the trip home.

An interesting innovation is that the main compartment is accessed via the back of the rucksack (i.e. the side that is in contact with YOUR back). This apparently makes the contents more secure.

There are a number of other pockets and pouches dotted around the bag, on the outside and inside (including some mesh pouches on the waistbelt) which mean that you can store all manner of other bits and pieces securely or readily accessible.

There is a couple of straps and flaps on one side that you snappers would normally use to hold your box-brownie's tripod, but could also be used to hold a rolled up mac or jacket. There is also an integral rain-cover. This really does keep on giving.

The construction of this rucksack is great. It is a high quality piece of kit that looks like it will withstand a lot of abuse (and protect its contents). The zippers are robust and the body material is water resistant. My version (I had no choice in the colour department) comes in a rather vibrant, Emergency Services Orange. At least I won't be getting run down by any snow-ploughs in the forseeable future.

I am very impressed with this, versatile, heavy duty general purpose/specialist equipment rucksack. If I was going into a war zone with a load of photographic kit, THIS is what I'd want to carry it in. Perhaps my only complaint is that it's just a little bit on the heavy side, but I guess that's the price you pay for it's many other virtues.

Not too many reviews about this bag, I still went with this bag based on what I saw and my gut feeling. No regrets now that I bought it.

For over 2 years, I have been searching for the right bag. I considered many different type of bags like messenger bags and backpacks. I practically saw every website that sells bags, but I never found what I was really looking for. The bag I always wanted was something in which I can carry my camera and 2-3 lenses and a flash. Something in which I can carry some of my accessories; not all.

Apart from all this I did not want a boring BLACK/GREY color bag which looks so boring. I wanted something good looking, hip and smart. My search finally came to an end. I bought the Orange bag, there is another Blue color.

Straight off, let me tell you what all I fit into this bag:

1) Canon 7d with a 18-200 lens

2) 90 mm lens

3) 50 mm lens

4) External Flash

6) AA (4) Battery charger

7) Battery grip

8) Binoculars (Nikon) Kinda huge; not the compact one.

9) Accessories like Light meter, cards, wires etc.

So you see this bag sure can fit a WHOLE LOT of things. If you take off the battery grip and binoculars you can easily fit in another 2 lenses.

Other cool features

1) Not sure if you have seen the video on Lowepro.com but you can take and put stuff into the bag without taking it off your bag, yes that's how cool the bag is. I was amazed by this feature. The bag comes off your shoulder and sits around your waist, so it stays there, while you dig into your bag.

2) It fits a 50 Oz Hydration pack (does not come with the bag). I bought this from amazon too Camelbak Antidote Reservoir 50oz. This is a great feature if you think about it. If you go on city tours or shooting outdoors you don't need to carry bottles and can keep sipping water while you walk around.

3) Stand to hold your monopod/tripod

4) It has this rain cover which is nice

If you don't want to use this as camera bag, you can take off all the stuff in the form of a bag that comes off. Now it becomes a plain backpack.

The only CON for me is that it does not fit a laptop. Not even a small one. But I guess you can't have everything in ONE BAG. You got to compromise somewhere. It does how ever fit a tablet.

This bag is not a completely PRO LEVEL bag in the sense that its not overly HUGE to fit in EVERY single photography accessory you have. But its just right for those who don't want to lug around every single thing they own. You wanna look smart with the bag, this is the one for you.

This review is being written on my first day of getting the bag, hence my rating is 5. I am going on a trip to Puerto Rico in July, so will use this bag to its full capacity and update this review after the July 4th weekend. Until then, I would say this is a highly recommended bag.

I bought this because we're going hiking in Montana next month and I wanted to be able to haul a lot of gear with me. I shopped and bargain hunted for months before I decided to splurge and buy this.

Some things I like:

1. It's not black. Seems like 90% of the backpacks are black. Hate that.

2. It doesn't look like I'm wearing a suit case on my back (i.e. it's not boxy).

3. Ingenious tripod carrier. Most of the products I looked at don't have any accessories for carrying a tripod. Some do, but they wouldn't work well except for a very small tripod. This has a really unique device on the side for carrying and securing/strapping down a good size tripod. Kind of hard to describe, but it will hold it securely without losing it or having it bounce around.

4. Pretty unique access to your gear. No need to take the backpack off to get to your stuff. Just remove the shoulder straps (leaving the hip belt/stabilizers on) and spin the unit around so it's in front of you, then unzip the back panel, exposing all your stuff. The backpack will fold down in front of you and (allegedly) stay horizontal, so you can open up the back and get to your stuff.

5. Hydration pack

6. Really good solid shoulder straps, chest strap, and hip stabilizers.

7. Lots of nice little pockets/nooks and crannies for car keys, etc.

8. Two separate rain covers, one for the entire bag, one more to cover the storage compartment only while the pack is open.

9. I like that you can remove the whole storage assembly and use the backpack as a regular day pack if you want.

One downside...I think I saw that you're supposed to be able to fit a laptop in it. There is NO WAY you will fit ANY size laptop in this thing. MAYBE an IPAD if you're lucky.

Also, even though I bought the largest one (this comes in three sizes), I still don't think I'll be able to carry everything I want. I'm hoping to carry the following, and I think it will be a stretch: two pro canon bodies w/o grips, a 70-200 2.8 L, a 28-70 2.8 L, an 85 mm 1.2 L, 50 mm 1.8, an extension tube, a 2x TC, a 580 flash with pocket wizards, a tripod, and accessories like cards, batts, chargers, etc.

I'll update when I know how I do with it.

UPDATE So I'm now back from Montana, where I used this thing, and I can say that I love it. It worked really well and I didn't have any real significant problems. A few notes learned from the experience:

1. The pouch for the hydration pack is on the small side. Not a big deal. While I was there, I bought my first hydration kit. It's two liters and when full, it won't fit in the bag. I'd say the most you can reasonably fit in is about 1.5 liters. Perhaps more if you're using a different style of hydration kit.

2. The idea that you can take the shoulder straps off this thing, leaving on the waist band, and simply fold the backpack down in front of you to access all of your gear is crazy. There's no way it's stable or strong enough to do that, and if it flops over, ALL of your contents will fall out of the bag.

3. The straps on the back of the pack for monopod attachment are really weak. Theoretically, you can cinch them up around the monopod to hold it in place but I found that they loosened up and unhooked pretty much right away.

4. I was able to carry all of the gear I listed above, except the 85mm 1.2 L. which is huge anyway. I also carried a canon G10 point and shoot and aat one point, a small pair of binoculars.

5. Straps were really comfortable, especially the waist straps/hip stabilizers.

I was looking for a pack to take on a hiking trip in Europe this Summer. My requirements list was pretty ridiculous:

room for hydration, preferably outside the photo equipment compartment

room for my pro DSLR + four lenses (one tele zoom, one 50mm prime, one wide zoom, one standard zoom)

safe, padded compartment for a notebook computer

fits under airline seat

capable of carrying a tripod

room for windbreaker/rain shell, snacks, other hiking gear

weatherproof (it's supposed to rain frequently where I'll be hiking)

I was beginning to despair, when I finally found the LowePro Flipside Sport 20L AW. It meets all of my requirements (plus a bit of room to spare), and it's amazingly lightweight and comfortable to wear. I've had a few serious trial-run hikes now (25%+ climbs and descents, with full load of gear, water, etc) to prove it out, and I'm really impressed.

Upsides:

The design and construction show real attention to detail. All of the zippers, straps, etc. are beautifully made and work smoothly.

The material is lightweight, but feels rugged and durable.

This pack is LIGHT! I noticed that many of the plastic fittings are a weight-saving design that removes material from areas of the part that aren't stressed. A nice touch.

The hip strap adusts easily, as do the shoulder straps. It would be great if they were height adjustable as well, but I suspect that's part of the weight-saving design. It happens to fit my shorter (5' 6") frame quite well. I'm able to balance the weight so that it doesn't feel like I'm carrying it on my shoulders. You know, like a backpack is supposed to be.

The opening design for access to photo gear is really smart. You likely do need to set the pack down to take out camera gear, but the great news is that the parts that touch you don't get dirty as is the case with some other photo packs I've used (Tenba, I'm looking at you).

The hydration and tripod mounting are on either side of the pack, so they can counterbalance one another

Lots of loops and straps make it easy to secure items to the outside of the pack as needed

Lots of (small) zippered compartments provide easy access and organization

Webbed compartments with elastic tops on the hip belt make a great place to stow snacks, sunglasses, etc. while hiking!

The hydration compartment works well with the (not included) 1.5L Camelbak bladder, and the shoulder straps have elastic straps nicely positioned for holding the tube in place for easy access.

Downsides:

the computer compartment really is only big enough for a 11" MacBook air or an iPad. They say that in the specs, but I was hoping I could somehow cram something bigger in there...

Hip strap seems to lack height adjustment

Some of the interior organization is limited by where they've put the 'pile' side of the velcro. I would have loved a centimeter or two more leeway in placing some of the dividers.

The pack doesn't include the hydration bladder, and LowePro doesn't recommend one on their web site or in the product specs. I've had a good experience using the Camelbak Antidote 50 oz (1.5L) reservoir CamelBak Rucksack accessories Antidote Reservoir but they could have saved me a bit of searching by specifying something...

All in all, this pack is a great piece of gear. It's not inexpensive, but it feels like a well-designed and carefully constructed pack.

I bought all three sizes to see which one would be best for my needs: Canon EOS Rebel T2i + Canon EF 50mm f/1.4

I had not decided before buying if I would also want to carry around a second lens: Canon EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS II, Standard Zoom

The small was, as suspected, much too small for even my dslr + lens.

The medium was most promising, allowing me to fit in camera + lens as well as to squeeze, and I mean squeeze, in a secondary lens.

The large just seemed too big. One look at it and it seemed like I might as well carry a camera bag since it would not leave much real estate in my purse for anything else.

Overall, this is well made, well padded, and sports some nice punchy colours.

My only complaint is the depth. Yes it does fit the camera, ktl. But it really hugs it tight (possibly a good thing in a camera pouch... this is my first so I really cannot be sure). I would have liked just a bit more wiggle room to allow for greater ease in placing the camera into the pouch and removing it. This may loosen up with time but for now my attempt at a "quick draw" often results in the pouch coming out of my purse with the camera half inside/outside. Irritating!

Cheap Thule Luggage Perspektiv Daypack

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program I recently reviewed the Tenba Roadie II HDSLR/Video Backpack 638-333. Then I was able to review the Thule Perspektiv. The contrast in design and purpose between the two bags is amazing. The Thule is clearly designed as an SLR daypack for wilderness adventurers who need to move fast with agility; compared to the Roadie II, which is more geared toward urban day adventurers. As you would expect, the Thule bag is quality made. Though I did not hear of them much before, my research shows the company is very well regarded as producing high quality products with great customer support. Interestingly, I read some product reviews putting down this bag. I am not sure if they were accurate because I checked this bag and found all the complaints of other reviewers to be largely unfounded.

Upon opening the box, I was impressed with the sleek outer design of the bag. Clearly the design of the bag was conceived with the purpose of avoiding entanglement in the wilderness. Construction and design was done with great detail to include overlapping flaps to keep out rain, interior seam sealing, double walled construction, quality heavy duty zippers, compression straps, heavy padded shoulder straps. I particularly like the quick release buckles to drop the pack in a split second, clearly designed to help you in emergency situations. The entire bag is made of water repellent material and a rain cover is included. All zippers are self sealing and water proof with interior seams. The top loading component of the pack uses "cloudburst technology," relying on welded and taped key seams, and a self sealing zipper to prevent water entry. A key failing of the bag, in my opinion, is the bottom construction. It is constructed of hard waterproof plastic with no padding. I would have preferred to see special non-skid reinforced and padded construction. I could not find any decent padding that would adequately protect against a major fall. But, I can overlook this aspect since the bag is clearly designed for ultra mobility.

Compared to more traditional day packs, exterior pockets are limited. A nice feature is the exterior tripod/monopod holder, which you will find incredibly useful. The limited number of pockets provide fast access to memory cards, batteries, and smaller gear. The interior compartment is easily accessible in a sling manner like the Lowepro Fastpack 250 Camera/Laptop Backpack or Lowepro SlingShot 202 AW. In fact, the bag designs are very similar. The interior compartment can be modified with included dividers though I found it somewhat limiting compared to larger and heavier bags, but it will fit a Nikon D300s with battery pack and a 70-300 f2.8 with plenty of room for Speedlights and additional lenses. Just keep in mind you will be forced to make gear carrying choices to maintain that mobility that caused you to buy the bag. The top loading compartment is padded and can be removed. In fact, the entire interior of the bag can be removed to convert the pack into a regular backpack. The straps on the bag, just as the bag itself, are ergonomically designed to be worn under intense conditions all day.

This bag is high quality across the board and designed for adventurers. It is worth comparing the LowePro products I mention if you are looking for a little more versatility. But either way, this bag is a pleasure to use in conditions that other bags would be too bulky or heavy.

The camera slips in the side pocket, large accessories in top, extra lenses in the same compartment as the camera. The latter is one of the more clever features. Most camera bags with the cradle design waste the space under the camera. Not here the space is available for lenses, flashes, etc. The top pocket has almost zero padding and no way to attach dividers. The bottom is actually hard, like plastic covered in material. You'll need to use the lens bag that came with the lens, a towel something for padding if you use this area for delicate equipment.

I personally find compartments for batteries and cards useless. I use dedicated CF and SD card pouches that provide organization and protection. Same for batteries. The pocket for these is basically a narrow pocket with a water resistant flap. It may hold a lens pen and cleaning cloth, but not much more. There are also two more narrow pockets that are so small, I don't know what you'll use them for. No padding just like putting something in your hip pocket. Yes, they are water resistant, but anything that's not FLAT will be a problem.

The bottom, again, feels like material wrapped plastic. In my opinion this is a failing there is no protection. Every pack I own has rubber feet, a bumper, rubber strip, heavy coating something here, there's nothing. If you treat this rough, it will wear. I also found the tripod attachment system to be pretty useless. For a monopod or Gorilla tripod, yes. Anything else, forget it. I tried two different travel tripods. The top is a strap with a very narrow base the tripod rocks back and forth like crazy. The bottom is just a loop.

All the zippers are weather proofed, either by being water resistant or with a flap. For heavier weather, there's an included water-proof cover that's hidden away between the pack and rear portion of the waist belt.

It's a solid four stars everything is quality, the pack is rigid, the waist strap nicely padded, the check clip can be positioned nicely, and the camera/lens compartment has plenty of padding. I'll add a bunch of photos shortly.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program This "backpack" for photographers/videographers is quite handy for those times when you need to carry lots of gear into distant/remote shooting locations. It's very comfortable and designed to be weather resistant. The shoulder padding is good and there's also padding for the upper/lower back and on the waist strap. There's also a chest strap which does not have any padding.

Inside there are two main internal compartments...one on the top and one on the bottom. The bottom one can be completely removed from the main backpack, while the top one cannot. The bottom compartment has dividers for a couple extra lenses, external flash unit, light meter, batteries etc and one camera/lense combo. This compartment has its own carrying handle for when you want to remove and carry it from the main backpack. When left inside the main backpack access to this sub-pack can be accomplished via an external zippered flap on the main body of the backpack. In other words you can remove your camera from the backpack without having to completely remove the bottom compartment. The top compartment has enough room for other equipment, however it does not have dividers so care must be taken when storing easily damaged items there.

On the outside there is a side pouch for quick access which can be used to hold a cellphone, flashlight etc. There are also several separate storage areas for small items such as memory cards. Finally a top strap and bottom loop for a tripod is located on the center of the backpack. Stowed away in a secret compartment is a waterproof cover that looks like a large shower cap which can be used to cover the backpack for a double layer of protection. Overall this is a fairly nice quality backpack for the photographer/videographer who needs to carry a good amount of equipment comfortably. It's lightweight, weatherproof and looks good as well.

The exterior pockets allow you to gain easy access to your gear while traveling. A sturdy tripod holder has a quick release clip and a lower loop to keep the pod from swinging. Under that, a flat moisture proof pocket to hold extra gear, like, a light meter. One zippered side flap opens to reveal a moisture proof see thru zippered pouch, and slots for extra SD cards and batteries. There is one roomy expandable exterior pocket. The top of the day pack makes use of "cloudburst technology", welded and taped critical seams, and a sealing zipper to shed water, which helps keep your gear dry. Below that a roomy interior for a secondary camera or other gear that is held securely with Velcro edging and can be reconfigured to fit your gear or removed if necessary.

The main compartment of the bag houses a separate, well-padded unit and removable pod providing a modular option that can be stored in a hotel safe. Large enough to hold up to a DSLR body with attached ultra wide angle lens. It allows for additional lenses and filters.

What I expect from Thule, which is superb. The seams are well done and clean. Stress points are reinforced. The weatherized zippers are an extremely nice touch. Weatherized zippers are definitely not a common find on camera bags/backpacks. Most camera backpacks do one of two things to protect from the zippers from water entry: 1. flap over the zipper. 2. raincover over the whole bag. This Thule weatherizes EVERY outside zipper (4) save one (1) which is the top zipper to access the top compartment. In this case, it just uses a fairly deep flap over the zipper. While you could put a camera in the top compartment, it's not the padded camera case, it is more for snacks/stuff.

Storage (See picture posted for backpack with compartments removed/deconstructed, pic of allowable camera dimensions also posted):

Plenty of storage for a full size SLR camera and a couple of midsize lenses (no space for a long full size telephoto, but for most people, I don't think you'd want to hike around with one of those). For a 4/3 camera, Olympus, Panasonic, Sony NEX, the padded camera storage area is cavernous and can pretty much handle any lens. You can remove the padded camera bag and tote it around with two handles. However, the bag is not easy to remove and not easy to put back in, and that's with the padded bag empty. Also, the padded bag by it self looks ugly and only is padded, but has no other protective fabric on it. Just leave it in. ** Again, I find the SD (3) and CF (2) card slots to be sewn with fabric. (I will reiterate, as I usually do in my reviews, to be wary of residual static discharge that can easily destroy data on the memory card. The reason I like to harp on this is because I have personal experience dealing trying to retrieve lost pics on a card in the middle of winter (when the air is driest) and it was a major PITA. Even with the recovered pics, the corresponding data for each pic (like date) was lost.) While the top strap for the tripod holder is cinchable, I don't know why the same couldn't be done for the bottom holder, which would be better to accommodate all sizes of tripods/monopods/walking sticks.

Comfort:

The bag is is about the appropriate weight for the quality of construction. The shoulder straps are comfortable and the backpack is added for BOTH shoulder blades and lumbar area. There is an elastic chest strap, which can be moved up and down around 4 inches on the shoulder straps , which is a thoughtful touch since people come in all different sizes and proportions. The waist strap is padded and small, which is also good in my book since this bag is only for camera EQ a modest amount of hiking essentials; it's not like I'm carrying bunch of camping supplies in here.

Overall:

Quality of construction, thoughtful features, plenty of normal camera storage = 5 stars. I've developed high expectations for Thule backpacks, and this one doesn't disappoint. So for a serious hiking trip with a moderate amount of camera gear, this backpack should work just fine. You can check out REI for their selection of camera backpacks, but I didn't really find anything that I liked as well as this one.

This case/sleeve works OK for my Lumix G3. The camera looks funny in it because the case is symmetrical and the camera isn't (looking down on the camera, the lens is more on the left side). However, the entire camera is protected so it's not a big deal unless you're the compulsive type. The neck strap is not affected so you can still sling this over your shoulder or neck.

Two things to be aware of. First, you'll have to nix the idea of seeing a photo opportunity and quickly getting a camera like the G3 out of this case, turn it on, and take a picture. I find that I have to pull the case over the camera in successive steps to get it inside it's a pretty tight fit (I have the standard kit 14-42 kit lens). Getting it out of the case is a little quicker but not much. The other thing, and a potential deal breaker is that twice I have accidentally turned the camera ON getting it into the case! This is because it's VERY easy to flick that switch when you pull the sleeve over the top of the camera to get it inside. Now, I'm aware of this issue so I pay extra attention when putting the camera in this case. Since the G3 (and I assume most or all m4/3 cameras) have an auto-shuttoff feature I suppose it's not a fatal flaw, but you may wind up using up some precious battery juice inadvertently (and the G3 doesn't have great battery life to begin with!).

Nice thick Neoprene material, durable enough to keep your camera safe in a larger bag or while setting down on practically any surface. But the product does not resemble the photo, not just the colorway but the actual shape itself.

The reason I bought this cover was to protect my Panasonic GF1 with a 14-45mm zoom lens. The cover was too snug in some places and too loose in others (not form fitting like the photo displays). I then tried to fasten the straps but they were too short to connect, making the straps useless along with the entire product.

If you have a GF1 with a zoom lens I DO NOT recommend this product to you at all, I'm not actually sure what camera this sleeve would be compatible with but maybe it's out there. I also didn't bother returning the item because it was shipped in a bubble envelope and I would have just wasted my time and money buying a box to ship it back.

The case is okay. The camera fits so snugly that you can't use the pocket that's on the front because the case is really just too small. It will protect your camera, just don't expect to carry an extra battery or SD card.

I returned it. Not much of a "disguise". It looks like a bag for something expensive, camera or whatever, and I live and shoot in Mexico. I ended up with a Domke F-5XZ with the waxed canvas which looks used when new. Otherwise it is built well and looks good, too good for my purposes.

There are eleventy-eighteen thousand camera bags in the world, and only a handful are any good for larger DSLRs at a reasonable price. I just don't see spending over a hundred dollars on a bag, and the elite "professional" bags cost up to $300+. Think Tank's Retrospective bags are wonderful camera bags-rugged, easy to carry, and they don't look like camera bags. They're also heavy and expensive. Their Sub Urban line is perfect: lightweight, roomy, and they don't look like camera bags. And they're reasonably-priced. The Sub Urban 20 is perfect for carrying a Canon 7D with a 24-105mm lens attached (lens hood reversed), two extra medium zooms (like the 70-300mm), or four smaller primes, and the usual miscellaneous extra batteries, memory cards, notepad and pen, and whatnot. It has two stretchy outside pockets for water bottles or whatever, and a grab handle. It is a rigid bag that stands up, and has plenty of padding and protection. The shoulder strap is long enough to wear it across my chest, though it may be a bit short for tall people.

Buying a camera bag online is arithmetic-don't trust photos, but measure what you want to carry, then shop by inside dimensions. This bag is plenty wide enough for the 7D body and lenses with lens hoods, but it's a tad short for longer zooms like the 70-200mm f/2.8 or 100-400mm. The Sub Urban 30 is perfect for those.

It didn't get five stars because the zipper is stiff, and the outer flap has a Velcro closure instead of a snap buckle. So close to perfection :)

I absolutely love this backpack and is a big step up from the smaller sling I was using before. There are a LOT of well placed pockets and the main compartment feels sturdy; I definitely trust it to keep my gear safe. The one thing i was kinda bummed about is that it is not deep enough to fit my 7D with a grip attached so I have to remove the grip in order for it to fit properly. Other than that I am very satisfied with my purchase
