Billingham f/Stop 2.8 Camera Bag (Black with Black Leather Review

There's nothing wrong w/ the quality and materials; it's just the design that I'm not crazy about. For a boxy and potentially heavy bag (it fits a DSLR camera and a couple/few lenses), I would preferred that it had a top handle as well. My favorite thing about Billingham bags is the easy closure. However, I am returning this because it is just too boxy, bulky and the lack of a top handle was the deal breaker.

Canon PSC-900 Deluxe Leather Case Review

Canon PSC-900 Deluxe Leather Case
Customer Ratings: 5 stars
Buy Now
After buying the fantastic new Canon S90, I tried a few generic camera bags, but due to the slightly protruding lens of the S90, all cases were either unnecessarily bulky or too tight a fit.

This case is designed exclusively for the S90 and cleverly makes space for the lens by using a cut-out in the inner case. The camera slots in neatly without any pressure on sensitive parts, yet is snug enough that it won't rattle around.

All leather looks and feels to be excellent quality, and the interior is super-soft suede that won't scratch your beloved S90.

Another reviewer pointed out the lack of additional space for memory cards & batteries. I think Canon chose the best compromise between bulkiness and practicality with the prices of 16/32GB SDHC cards nowadays, you shouldn't ever need more than one memory card for any outing... and another battery would just make it too bulky. My only minor complaint is that I have to undo my belt to mount the case.

I don't like my cameras to be unprotected. Whether its my DSLR or my brand new Canon PowerShot S90 Compact Camera, it must be carried in a case. So when Canon came out with a case for the S90, I bought it immediately.

On the plus size, the Canon PSC900 Deluxe Leather Case looks, feels and even smells like an old time camera case. It's made from stiff leather that feels like it will protect the camera well. (Be aware that there is not much padding, so this case may or may not help your S90 survive a four foot fall on to a concrete fall.) There is a magnetic snap that looks like a retro metal snap. Very cool. It's easy to get the camera in and out of the case. The camera fits well--as you might expect. (This is a larger compact camera than most and finding a case that fits it properly can be an issue.) And there is a belt strap--although it's not the type that I prefer. I like to clip and un-clip the case from my belt. With the Canon PSC900 Deluxe Leather Case, I have to unbuckle and loosen my belt to get the case off of my belt.

There are some other down sides to the Canon PSC900 Deluxe Leather Case. There is no place to put SD cards, extra batteries or anything else. The case holds to Canon S90 and that's about it. Keep that in mind if you are thinking about buying this case.

If you are looking for a sturdy, well-made leather case--one that looks very retro and is nicely constructed to hold your Canon S90, this case is worth considering. But if you are looking for something more than the basic "hold my camera case" you may want to check out cases from other manufacturers such as Tamrac or Lowepro.

Best Deals for Canon PSC-900 Deluxe Leather Case

After trying several cases from the likes of Built NY and Lowepro, I finally decided on the Canon PSC900 leather case. It's far from perfect, but it was the best available solution.

The best part of the case is that it is custom molded for the Canon S90 digital camera. The flap has a circular indentation that allows the lens to fit around it perfectly. The case is a perfect fit and does not add significant bulk, which was the problem I had with some of the Lowepro's. On the other hand, there is absolutely no additional storage or features. It does however have a belt loop but a clip would have been a better solution so that a belt wouldn't need to be threaded in the loop. The flap secures to the body by a magnetic button, which is fairly strong but not so much so that you struggle to open it. I don't understand why they chose to leave so much open space on the upper part of the sides though. I can understand a small slit on the left side (facing the front) for wrist straps, but why the opening on the right side? It's not like you can access any ports while in the case. Lastly, you can't tell from the photos, but the Canon logo is not printed on the case. It's a piece of plastic that they glued on. I can see the logo coming off sometime in the future.

Of the available cases, I found the PSC900 to be the best for the Canon S90. Unlike similar neoprene cases, the hard formed exterior shell of the PSC900 will actually protect the camera from bumps on tables or corners. It could use improvements and a price reduction, but if you invested in the S90, another $35 for a good case is a worthwhile expenditure.

Honest reviews on Canon PSC-900 Deluxe Leather Case

I was a bit worried about this case after reading some of the reviews, but now that I have it, I couldn't be more pleased. The leather, fit, and construction are top-notch. The logo is not plastic and it is not glued on. It is metal and it is attached through the first layer of leather. I was actually planning to remove it, but doing so would require some cutting so it's not going anywhere. The belt loop is ideal since it only protrudes about 1mm; far less than a metal clip would and it's far more secure. There's no extra storage for accessories, and that's the way it should be because this is the type of camera you can carry in a pocket. Although this case was originally made for the S90, it also fits the S95 perfectly. (The S95 is only 1mm slimmer than the S90.) There's an ingenious notch that allows the adjustment ring to protrude past the interior portion of the case and partially into a recess in the case flap resulting in a case that can still fit in a pocket while providing plenty of protection. My only complaint is the seller shipped it in a bubble-wrap envelope as opposed to a box. The case got crushed in transit and there is now a crease along the top of the case, which should normally be flat and smooth.

This is a very nice case at a great price. It is just big enough for the camera and a few small accessories. It is moderately padded. It has a long neck strap. Its belt strap has both velcro and a snap for extra security. There is a double-zipper section for the camera and also a front velcro flap that has a gusseted compartment for memory cards, batteries, etc. That compartment has a mesh separator in the middle so it's actually two compartments which is handy. The green color is attractive and modern and not too bright.

Sometimes I get a little confused about the two compartments and want to use the velcro front compartment to grab the camera, but I'm sure I'll get used to that. I do appreciate the zipper for the camera section because it adds security. The double-zippers are good because you can have it partly open but still keep the camera secure.

The only potential problem I see is if you want to keep more accessories with the camera. It is fine for a couple of cards and an extra battery (or even two) but that's about it. On the other hand, that's really all you need with this camera. (I also keep a cleaning cloth and a tiny brush in it.) This is a great case for my uses and this camera and I would buy it again, no question.

When i unpacked and examined this thing, I just couldn't believe it would work. So I tested it as follows: (1) Sat it in the shower for 10 minutes; (2) Floated in a tub of water for 30 minutes; and (3) Held it underwater for 2 minutes. The only water that got in were a couple of stray drops that fell in when I opened the bag and some condensation that accumulated from the cold shower. For this reason I would recommend sealing any electronic gear in a ziplok bag for extra protection.

The bag comes with a foam sleeve that is large enough for any size point-and-shoot camera (I tested it with a dead Canon PowerShot S2is), but not a full-size DSLR. The camera and sleeve easily fit into a quart size bag.

On the negative side, the bag has no handle nor attachment points for a shoulder strap. It does come a belt that could be used as such, or to turn it into a waist pack but it's an awkward arrangement. That's basically why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5.

Incorrectly listed as the appropriate case for Nikon's Coolpix camera. In order for the camera to fit, I had to cut out the velcro straps designed to hold it in place. Even with that, it barely closes. Insufficient space to store battery, etc. This is rather unfortunate, as the case does have a nice hard shell to protect the contents, which is how it earned two stars.

It's very simple, not too bulky. There is a small zipper pocket on the exterior. I don't know if it will absorb a lot of shock if the camera is dropped, but does protect it from scratches.

Although this is a handsome looking case, it is poorly thought out and not very useful. First of all, unlike most fitted camera cases of this type, the front piece is not hinged to the bottom piece. So one cannot take photos without complete removal of the lens cover piece, and then one has it to hold while trying to take a photo. In addition, if one has the optional viewfinder, which is almost a necessity with this camera--the case can't hold the camera with viewfinder attached, which means that one must have a place to safely store this small, delicate and expensive piece of equipment. Attaching and removing the viewfinder for each photo is not practical. The base plate with camera strap is the only part of the case that I am able to use--hardly worth the cost of this accessory. I would award it something less than one star if that were allowed.

This case fits my DP1 snugly, offering a secure and padded environment for my compact camera. It allows you to use the strap outside the case, and fits in my pocket comfortably.

Be aware, however, this case truly was designed for the DP1. It did not fit my DP2 due to the difference in lens size. While most other DP1 accessories work with the DP2 and DP2s this one does not.

This bag is down right amazing! Love the color! The exterior is very firm, while the inner camera pouch is super soft and plush protecting your valuable asset! The rear zipper with the back compartment is pretty small, but has room for the necessities you'll need on the go! Also came in a really nice 'pull string' tote bag.. Would recommend to any camera owner! Its a must have!

I looked for a case for my Nikon L 810, but none of them seemed to fit right; most of the larger cases were very bulky. This case is a little large, but so is my camera. I like to hike, so it is a little big for extended hiking trips, but it works great otherwise. It has a nice longer carrying strap so you can wear it like a purse. There is easy access to the camera if you need to get to it quickly. Overall, I am happy with this purchase; it is a very good value (I bought the SKY BLUE case and the color is really great!).

Loved the way my camera fit into this bag. It is light weight and cute. If you want to carry a lot of accessories I would not recommend it. However for me, I carry extra SD cards, a cord, and extra battery. They all fit great. Love the bag. The picture doesn't show the shoulder strap which was important to me. I took a chance and was pleased that the bag does include an adjustable shoulder strap.

Well it seems a little strange to be putting a leather case back on the 5d mkiii but it fits well, it is made well and I wanted some protcection from the little dings and scratches that seem to happen to everything you use often. The snoot for the lens is a little shocking, It looks like an elephant trunk at first but it grows on me. Glad I bought it, would do it again.

Classic design, no frills. Four D-rings make for a stable chest-pack (careful, though, about bending forward with the top unzipped; better to clip the harness straps to just the top two rings, allowing the pack to pivot like a pendulum). Three sizes are available. The 515 is the biggest, just right for my Nikon D3200 with the 55-300 zoom attached. I use the smallest version to carry a Canon Powershot SX10is. Well made and durable. Harnesses are available ready-made or make your own from one-inch webbing and delrin clips.

Bought before a trip to Africa and wanted a hard sided case for better protection. This was AWESOME! I clipped to my pants each day and it was out of the way, but quick and easy to access the camera (Canon PowerShot by the way). Also easily stored extra SD cards and batteries and I could open case enough to slide camera in and out without losing the cards/batteries. Never written a review before, but this was simply too good I had to share! :O)

And, notice the price WELL worth it! You get more than you pay for this time around!

I have a blue one of these, and it is great! The material is really sturdy, so I am confident that my camera (or iPod) won't get broken. I've broke a camera once by dropping it, so the protection really helps. I also stand-out as the only person I know that doesn't use one of the boring, black soft cases that come with cameras. A couple people have commented on my colorful case. Function and style -I really recommend these. The hook also really helps. I can just attach it to my backpack and go. Try one out -it is cheap and really worth it.

I love this case, great for clipping onto your belt loops to carry the camera safely without fear of pickpockets while traveling. Looks like a soft case but is protective and solid. It does hold an extra memory card which is handy, but I more needed it to be able to hold an extra battery. There is absolutely no extra room in this case with my Panasonic Lumix in it.

This case was exactly like the picture. It is sturdy and protective. The zipper is great and works flawlessly. I especially like the orange rubber ends on the zipper that you can see in the picture. I use it for my Nikon Coolpix and it is a little bigger than the camera, but I like it!

I absolutely love the design of the bag, and how convenient it is to slip the camera in and out without taking it off. The straps are well thought and I can carry it while on a bike for example with no issues of it sliding sideways and being in the way.

Size wise, I can carry all the equipment I want in it, since it can easily fit camera plus 3 medium size lenses (one on the camera). If you have the small primes like the nifty fifty, you can probably fit 5 lenses. Personally, I carry a Canon T2i with the kit lens, a telephoto lens (not one of them big ones), a speedlite (this takes as much space as a lens), battery charger, filters, extra batteries, and everything fits very comfortably in so comfortably that I was wondering if the 6x would have been enough too. You can customize the compartments however you want depending on what you carry.

The best thing about it, which is why I got this instead of a backpack type is that the external total volume is small, so if I go travel I can just shove it in my main luggage without problems, and don't have to add another piece of luggage on planes.

Personally I like the brown color too, way more than the black/grey one. It doesn't stand out, but it also doesn't look so... well, gray. And it doesn't scream "expensive stuff inside" when you're travelling.

It performs pretty well in slight rain too, never had issues, but I wouldn't stay in it for too long, not even to test it out. The padding is not very thick, I don't know how well will it do in protecting your equipment, but if I ever have the misfortune to find out, I'll let you know. I haven't figure out how to attach a small tripod gracefully to it, so maybe that could be a future upgrade :)

UPDATE: upgraded my lenses and thought I'd share. I was using mostly small and cheap lenses, so my estimates were a bit off when it comes to the larger ones. The 70-200 f4 fits inside no problem without its hood, and right now I can put in 3 pretty large lenses in the bag, but a tight fit and no room for any hoods the other 2 are 77mm lenses and the hoods are pretty wide. Still my favorite bag for traveling and walking around.

When I went looking for a new bag to hold my new Rebel T2i with the 18-135 lens, I wanted something big enough to hold most of my normal carry-around gear, but not huge. Aside from not wanting the hassle of carrying anything bigger than normal I prefer not to be too obvious with my gear. Also, I was visiting in Denver and doing some hiking, so definitely wanted something that was comfortable to carry without bouncing around against me like my last bag always did.

After looking at a lot of bags, I picked this, and really love it after several months of use.

It is surprisingly comfortable to carry, either over one should, over an arm and neck, or slung around behind you. But it's quick to pull it around to get your camera out. It even has a waist strap you can use if you want. I haven't needed that yet, but I've put my monopod through that space as a handy way to carry it.

It fits the longer 18-135 lens, has lots of pockets and so forth for holding all the bits & pieces, and can even hold my charger, another lens, hood, etc. And the brown looks good.

There is a series of this bags in this Tamrac Velocity line, so pick the one that works for you. Take your camera and longest lens with your to pick the best fit)

I can fit into this my Sony SLT A57 with an attached lens, two additional lenses, a flash, and plenty of stuff up front. If I was so inclined I could attach their M.A.S. accessories to the sides to carry extra lenses, water bottles, filters, etc. I used it today for the first time and it was comfortable to have on. I walked about 3 to 4 miles in it and it was never bothersome. My only wish is that it had a way to strap my tripod to the bottom. I highly recommend this if you are considering a sling.

I like the bag. It fits everything nice and room for three lenses. The sling style makes for easy access to the camera. The only bad thing about the bag is that after a while of it being on one shoulder, that shoulder hurts. Switching to the other shoulder doesn't work because it is designed only to be used one way.
