Best Lowepro Compact Digital Camera Case Deals

Lowepro D-Res 20 AW Digital Camera Bag

I bought this case sight unseen, as I needed a relatively inexpensive and yet durable case for my digital camera for an upcoming mountain biking trip. I must admit to being slightly disappointed in that this is not all that was promised in the description of the product. In the description it clearly says that this case features an "All Weather Cover for "challenging" weather." The zipper when closed does not look like it will keep rain out should you be caught in a downpour. However, there is a cover which comes out of the bottom of the bag which is supposed to be employed for the harshest weather, but I am not 100% certain that in a deluge some water would not get in anyway. I have been in harsh rains, and I would not entirely trust this to keep all rain out from my digital camera. A minor disappointment, but one nonetheless. [See UPDATE at bottom]

My second disappointment came with the shoulder straps......they attach via plastic hooks which look like they could easily break. I will be taking my camera biking with me and I do not want it flying off my shoulder at 30 miles per hour, so this is somewhat of a concern. As such, the plastic shoulder attachments do not exactly inspire confidence in me. [This is still a minor concern]

**** 1/2 stars

UPDATE: I took this on a mountain biking trip recently, and it worked marvelously. Highly recommended. Excellent product.

Got this for my Cyber-shot camera for hiking and camping trips.

Was surprised to find it was even roomy enough for the new HD camcorders, obviously not to hold both.

The adjustable velcro loops came in handy to tie the case to other backpacking gear, rather than have it hanging from my neck or shoulder.

Lowepro is so good with camera gear.

Bought this bag for the Canon 570is. Fits fine plus two AA's and SD card. Even with the camera and all this it is a small, light package. Cannot carry camera instructions in bag but not necessary for me.

Too light to carry as a shoulder strapped bag. It can flip off your shoulder. Carry this camera bag in larger bag or purse. Bag will fit in my glove compartment or travel pack or golf bag. If you want to carry instructions, battery charger etc get a bigger bag. On trips I will carry those separately. Think of this as a day use camea bag.

Lowe makes good camera bags this camera to simply too small and light to carry as a shoulder bag. Will find a simple handle that would attach instead of shoulder strap. Perhaps like the one on the camera.

Honest reviews on Lowepro Compact Digital Camera Case

I purchased the D-Res 10AW bag for my then-new Olympus D460 Zoom. Cordova, AK experiences more than 160 inches of rain annually so "all-weather" is important. This series has a hidden nylon rain poncho that can be pulled out from the belt slide side of the bag, around the bottom and up over the top for nearly complete rain coverage. It's well padded with room for additional memory cards and a spare set of 4 AA batteries (NiMH, of course). I pack this camera nearly everywhere, and the case strap and belt slide have yet to let me down. If you have any doubts, know that this is the company that was started by a mountaineer, designing and building climbing packs.

I just purchased the new Sony DSC-W50 and wanted a case to protect it. This is a great case in my opinion. Soft and plush inside, but firm and protective on the outside. The camera is held firmly in place from the moment you first slide it in the pocket. The additional small zippered pocket on the outside is handy for extra memory sticks, or maybe even an extra battery. The belt loop is very handy, and there is even a metal ring so that you can attach it to a carabiner or something of the like if desired. However, what I like most is that it will protect your investment and look good doing it. I think it's one of the best buys out there. It can be had for less than $15 delivered from several sellers through Amazon.

I bought this case for my Canon SD300 that I had recently purchased. I was looking for a small compact camera case that still have some type of padding or support. While at the store, I compared the case meant for the Canon to many others. I picked up this one mainly because it had much more protection compared to the Canon case, and it came with an extra zipper in the front, perfect for that extra memory card/battery you need to carry around. Even the inner lining of the case is exceptional, with fuzzy material soft enough not to scratch the LCD screen. My SD300 fits perfectly in the case, and although they may not be the same brand, it definitely was a great buy.

I bought this for my Sony N1 digital camera. Buying online I was worried that it would be too small or too bulky but it's absolutely the perfect size. The price is great especially for something that is Sony. I like the fact that it has a strap that you can snap onto your belt. There's also a small zippered pouch on the inside front that you can put an extra memorystick or even battery. The only thing that could make this case even better would be a clip for those who don't wear belts but still wear pants.

Honest reviews on Sony LCS-CST General Purpose Soft Carrying Case for Slim Cybershot

I bought this case for my wife's new Sony DSC-W70 camera and she loves it. It is pretty slick and fits the camera just tight and right. Its plush interior foam pad offers plenty of protection. I'd say that the camera would suffer litlle damage when dropped. The exterior case is made with a high quality material that not only looks good but will also last for years. The whole thing stays small enough to be carried in my wife's purse easily. Keep in mind that its overall thickness is about 1.5 inch (while the camera is just 0.5 inch) so it won't fit comfortably in any pant/shirt pocket though. If this is what you want, then probably get the leather case model without foam instead. On the other hand, we like the extra protection, zippered pocket, the handy belt loop and the unbeattable price/quality/look.

Amazon bundled a battery and this case when I purchased the Sony DSC-HX5V. Problem is this camera just doesn't fit very well in this small case. The lens is slightly raised and the camera is just a little too long for this small case. The Velcros really has to stretch to fit and I fear that if clipped to a belt the velcro could come loose and the camera could fall out. I don't know if it was amazon or sony that suggested bundling these, but it is not a match.

I was finding that many of my activities were going unphotographed because I didn't have a way to safely carry my equipment. Activities such as bike riding, cross country skiing or canoeing have not been a part of my photohistory--until I got the Tamrac Expedition 3 backpack.

The "Expedition" holds my SLR with a 300mm lens, my standard lens, my off camera flash, extra film, standard filters and cleaning supplies, with room left over for my keys and money. Everything is well padded and secure, and the pack is quite small and sits squarely on my back. A sturdy top handle allows it to be carried in hand, and its small size makes this possible without dragging it along the ground as I do so. The materials used are very sturdy; the pack can stand on its own and does not "collapse."

The only down side, and this is true of any camera backpack, is the need to take it off and zip it open to get at your gear. If this would be a concern, you may want to check out the top-loading hip packs, which I passed on since they always feel awkward to me. Years of hauling backpacks make the "Expedition" seem like second nature to me. No longer will my photohistory suggest couch potato-dom; now I can shoot my exploits on trail or river, thanks to the "Expedition!"

This pack worked great for about a week. It handles my STsi along with a 75-300mm lens, a 28-80mm lens, a 2x tele-converter, a hot shoe flash, 8 filters, and assorted other trinkets. The one main complaint is there isn't much room for film. Also there isn't any room to grow with the pack. The pack is very small. If you are the "just bring this and thats it" type then this is YOUR pack. I on the other have bought 2 more lens (35-135 & a 1000) and another body. Not a chance of fitting this into the pack. another complaint is that since it is so small lashing a tripod to the pack is just notfeasable. All in all GREAT pack! Although I have a few complaints it is great to just keep your camera with you and your hands free. And I did order a much larger pack. So enough of my whinning!

Best Deals for Tamrac 5273 Expedition 3 Photo Backpack (Rust)

This is a nice, well-made, durable backpack.

It just arrived today and I immediately stuffed it with my Nikon D50 SLR, with an 18-55mm lens attached and 2 additional lenses. It was a VERY tight squeeze getting this little bit of gear into the backpack. The bag is bulging at the sides making it a bit of a pain to zip up. If I had it to do over, I would probably opt for something larger than this backpack but for what it is, and the price, it'll do. The good thing about it is that the space constraints can be somewhat alleviated by purchasing attachable lens cases such as the MX5378 and MX5375.

Honest reviews on Tamrac 5273 Expedition 3 Photo Backpack (Rust)

I'm not sure why people are complaining about this backpack being so small since the description and pictures are accurate (though it looks smaller in real life and the scale is not all that obvious).

I easily fit a medium sized camera with a 28-300 lens attached and and an 18-55 lens directly below it. I don't have other lenses to fill up the side partitions of the main compartment, but could easily fit 2 to 4 more lenses (depending on size) in these areas. The sides of the main compartment seem a bit tighter to fit things in, however.

Even being conservative, this pack should fit a camera with lens attached, 2 additional lenses and a flash in the main compartment.

In the smaller front pocket I fit 2 memory cards, compact lens cleaning kit, larger lens cloth, 8 AA batteries, compact charger. A mini-tripod or compact water bottle would fit in the outside pocket/strap.

Don't expect to carry huge amounts of additional things in this pack aside from additional small items like keys, wallet, map, cell phone.

You're not going to be putting your thermos, picnic lunch and jacket in here. It's not even as big as most computer backpacks, but it certainly doesn't claim to be. You might fit some small additional items, but not anything bulky.

The construction seems good and it's reasonably rigid and well padded. It's a good value for the price.

I ordered this bag over a canon bag for my rebel XT and lenses due to reports of problems with the zippers on the canon bags. The tamrac bag's zipper feels quite sturdy, but it seems to get stuck or a little tight towards the top when zipping or unzipping both main pockets.

Otherwise this was a great purchase. There is plenty of room so far, for my Digital Rebel XT with 50mm f/1.8 lens, 18-56mm lens, 75-300mm lens, charger, two batteries, various cables, manual, lens pen, and tripod mount. Theoretically you can attach a tripod to the bag as well, although mine is too large and even if it weren't I'm not really sure it would hold it in an optimum fashion.

The shoulder straps are comfortable and sturdy, as is the carrying handle. There are enough pockets and seperators to hold most of the little knick-knacks that you might need. I'm quite happy with the purchase.

I received exactly the item that was listed! This, by far, was my best experience with a clear, concise, precise listing on Amazon. I love the hard-shell. I have no concerns about my camera being damaged. Also, there is a clip on the outside that I wasn't even aware of that very easily and securely attaches to my backpack. I'll be able to have easy access to my camera without all the fumbling around. A nice surprise was a small drawstring bag that all of the chord accessaries fit right into. Again, this bag will easily sit in a side pouch of any bag allowing the user easy access to their camera. There is a pouch inside the case to hold another card for the camera or even an extra battery. I LOVE IT! Only negative is that the camera is a little bit loose in the case. This was easily solved for me by putting a little cloth material inside as well. I would highly recommend this case for everyone, especially anyone that plans on doing any traveling. Easy access to my camera and the needed accessaries for the camera is my favorite part.

Update: October 5, 2011

I still have this case. It still works wonderfully and my camera is still in awesome shape. With all the traveling I've done I honestly expected to have to replace it. There's no need to. It's still in the same shape as when I first purchased it. I would definitely still highly recommend this case. The hard shell has literally saved me way too many times to count.

Update: November 19, 2012

Just wanted to say I still have this case. It's actually a huge part of my life as I take so many pics and video with my camera. I'm constantly pulling my camera out or putting it back in. Again, it still saves me often as my young sons try to "help out" by getting the camera for me. Thankfully it's kept in the case and they know not to take it out. Through all of the falls the camera and case have been through the case is still in perfect shape. The camera is actually still in perfect shape as well. As a matter of fact my camera can't be bought anymore. I've been offered twice as much as I paid for my camera because it still looks so new. For the record, I do not know the seller, but I would recommend dealing with them. I'm sure I will have this case as long as I live. I know it'll last that long anyway.

This is a really solid case where you can put in your pocket. It basically feels like you've got a regular wallet in your pocket. It also has a clip which you can use to place on your pants. It's got a little space pouch inside the camera case for those extra memory cards. It's great espcially if you plan to buy the Panasonic Lumix TZ5.

The only thing is missing is a lanyard so that you can carry it around your neck.

Honest reviews on BOXIE ii Black Onyx Camera Case for Canon PowerShot, Sony

Its a solid case that feels a bit tight for the DMC-TZ4 but gets the job done... Only complaint is for a lack of a lanyard of some sort.

The good news is that this case is very well constructed and comes with a cool bonus TOT pouch. The bad news is that it was ill-suited to my Lumix ZS3. Sure, if you were determined, you could sorta kinda squeeze the camera in, and if you were up to the struggle, you could zip it closed. Almost. But... is that what you really want to deal with every time you use your fun new camera? I didn't. I returned it and will be selecting another case.

Nice little camera case my DMC-ZS3 fits in nice and snug without it being too tight a fit, even after including an extra memory card and a thumb drive into the interior mesh pocket. It is definitely designed to make sure it fits this family of cameras (unlike some other cases on Amazon that come up in a search, that have been slammed repeatedly for being ill-fitting). You do have to put the camera in a certain way for best fit, but it's not a big deal. I love the hard exterior and it makes me feel more secure carrying the camera around. I also love how compact it is. The one drawback, and it's a major one unfortunately, is that they only included a carabiner clip--there is no way to put it on your belt. That may not be a problem for a girl/woman who can clip this to their purse, but for men it's a huge design flaw in my opinion. I'm to the point where I'm considering rigging the case with a belt clip (somehow).

I was hesitant when I initially got the bag, because I wasn't sure if it would be able to fit my camcorder and my supplies. No joke, this thing comfortbaly fits my Sony HVR-Z5U camcorder, dual battery charger, 2 batteries, my memory recording unit, shotgun mic, wireless lav. mic, and my Nikon D3100 with 18-55mm lens and still has extra room ,no problem!! It's very comfortable to wear, lighter than my past bags. 100% recommend!

I really like this bag. It's solid and fits my ex1, batteries, charger and wireless mic kit. It's compact size means that I have to compromise a bit on how thing are arranged (not ideal), but I can get everything in safely. Construction is solid.

Best Deals for Petrol Bags PC300 Deca Shell for Camera - Black

I picked up a Petrol PC300 when the strap on my Genus GL-GEN1000 Backpack began to fray and separate at the right shoulder seam. The Petrol offers instant advantages over the Genus, including being less than half the weight of the larger bag (5.6 pounds vs a back-breaking 11.8) and a form factor that was is more taped to the human wearing it. I shoot in Washington, D.C. and take my bags frequently onto public transportation, so this is a vast improvement. The Petrol is even small enough to fit in a plane's overheard compartment, which I feel a lot more comfortable about than handing my entire video rig over to the roulette wheel of baggage arrival.

And despite the reduced size, the inside of the Petrol is better laid out and more usable than the Genus. I find I can fit the same gear in more or less the same arrangement, though a tad more snug, but everything just seems laid out better. This is especially true with the compartment made to cradle your camera snugly in the center of the bag; a thick Velcro thick strap permanently attached across the middle of the chamber accomplishes this very well. And the smaller removable velcro walls are easy to shift around to customize the kit any way you require. Two thin pockets line the inside of the bag lip. The smaller top pocket is clear and the perfect size for an iPad (though it offers basic no protection). The second has a zipper and folded Velcro enclosure and might be able to hold a Macbook Air (again, with absolutely no protection). The Genus offered ample laptop security (enough to barely fit my 17" Macbook Pro from 2008) as well as a third smaller pocket. You only get the bare basics with the Petrol.

There are two deep side pockets (with very narrow, unyielding openings) and matching bungee cords to latch for tripods and other gear to the outside of the bag...and that's it. No outside small pockets for batteries or tapes, no business card pocket or keychain, not even a cell phone pouch (though I found I could swipe the one from my Genus and it fit around the straps of the Petrol just fine). There is a pen holder attached to one of the removable inner walls, but only on one of them, and I found it purely by accident.

The main straps and moulded back handle are quite sturdy, but the support straps across the chest and waist are cheap, light plastic and the shoulder straps a tendency to shift dramatically an inch or so when putting the bag on or off, but stay attached firmly once worn. Still, it's just enough to be slightly alarming when you have $5000 strapped to your back. When properly strapped on, the bag is very comfortable to wear. The 6lbs between the Petrol and the Genus is the largest difference, but the way the smaller bag curves more to fit the back and shoulders is also a huge plus. I never had a feeling for how much space it took up behind me, always underestimating it.

The sacrifices for size and weight begin at the bottom of the Petrol bag, which has no additional protection or stability, making it impossible to stand the bag upright. Worse is how the bag opens face-down so that the narrower, rounded front of the bag is in contact with the surface, making the kit less stable when open than the Janus. And while the nylon-ballistic pockets on the outside of the bag are strong they have no give, so they aren't even large enough to hold a bottle of water.

For me, the sacrifices are worth it. I need my bag to stay on my back almost all the time, as I frequently shoot in nightclubs and outside venues that may view a stray bag with alarm. But if you need to regularly carry anything more than a small kit and an iPad with you, I'd look at a different bag.

Amazing how quick this hog can fill up. would prefer sleeve for tripod or monopod. straps don't work too well. I've used one of these full of medium format rock climbing so getting your stuff through a airport and on vacation should be no problem. If you are a wedding dog get a hard case with wheels.

Bought this one used at a great price.

When I ordered this bag, I was replacing another. I thought it would be bigger than it actually is. I am impressed with the way the straps hide away. That is very convenient when traveling. The bag will hold a lot of equipment safely and it does give you quick access to your gear. I also like the way the tripod can be attached, not as loose as my Lowepro backpack. The strapping system is good but not as comfortable as some others that I have, to it's defense though it is carrying more gear than the other bags. The only thing I'm not too happy with is that the padding on the inside seems to not bounce back as quickly, and sometimes not at all like it has been sitting there for a long while and have gotten old overtime and lost it's 'spongyness'... But as I said, it gets the job done non the less. The entire casing is hard and durable, and even with the not-so-spongy-padding inside, it the gear is still able to withstand some shock without any damage.

*UPDATE: 2 Oct 2013*

It's been just about 4 months, and it has worked great so far keeping my equipment protected from bumps and scratches, and even when a drink fell on the case everything was protected. However, a couple days ago, I noticed the hinges for the handle are starting to come loose. They're riveted on, so it's not like I can take a screw and tighten it myself. Extra caution would now need to be taken when handling the case by its top handle.

A sturdy compact close fitting case that will protect our Nikon S510 camera in case of a fall. It has a loop to carry it on your belt and uses magnets to keep the flap closed (they seem to work pretty good.) Unfortunately it does not have slots for a spare chip and battery.
