Lowepro D-Res 20 AW Digital Camera Bag

I bought this case sight unseen, as I needed a relatively inexpensive and yet durable case for my digital camera for an upcoming mountain biking trip. I must admit to being slightly disappointed in that this is not all that was promised in the description of the product. In the description it clearly says that this case features an "All Weather Cover for "challenging" weather." The zipper when closed does not look like it will keep rain out should you be caught in a downpour. However, there is a cover which comes out of the bottom of the bag which is supposed to be employed for the harshest weather, but I am not 100% certain that in a deluge some water would not get in anyway. I have been in harsh rains, and I would not entirely trust this to keep all rain out from my digital camera. A minor disappointment, but one nonetheless. [See UPDATE at bottom]

My second disappointment came with the shoulder straps......they attach via plastic hooks which look like they could easily break. I will be taking my camera biking with me and I do not want it flying off my shoulder at 30 miles per hour, so this is somewhat of a concern. As such, the plastic shoulder attachments do not exactly inspire confidence in me. [This is still a minor concern]

**** 1/2 stars

UPDATE: I took this on a mountain biking trip recently, and it worked marvelously. Highly recommended. Excellent product.

Got this for my Cyber-shot camera for hiking and camping trips.

Was surprised to find it was even roomy enough for the new HD camcorders, obviously not to hold both.

The adjustable velcro loops came in handy to tie the case to other backpacking gear, rather than have it hanging from my neck or shoulder.

Lowepro is so good with camera gear.

Bought this bag for the Canon 570is. Fits fine plus two AA's and SD card. Even with the camera and all this it is a small, light package. Cannot carry camera instructions in bag but not necessary for me.

Too light to carry as a shoulder strapped bag. It can flip off your shoulder. Carry this camera bag in larger bag or purse. Bag will fit in my glove compartment or travel pack or golf bag. If you want to carry instructions, battery charger etc get a bigger bag. On trips I will carry those separately. Think of this as a day use camea bag.

Lowe makes good camera bags this camera to simply too small and light to carry as a shoulder bag. Will find a simple handle that would attach instead of shoulder strap. Perhaps like the one on the camera.

Honest reviews on Lowepro Compact Digital Camera Case

I purchased the D-Res 10AW bag for my then-new Olympus D460 Zoom. Cordova, AK experiences more than 160 inches of rain annually so "all-weather" is important. This series has a hidden nylon rain poncho that can be pulled out from the belt slide side of the bag, around the bottom and up over the top for nearly complete rain coverage. It's well padded with room for additional memory cards and a spare set of 4 AA batteries (NiMH, of course). I pack this camera nearly everywhere, and the case strap and belt slide have yet to let me down. If you have any doubts, know that this is the company that was started by a mountaineer, designing and building climbing packs.

This bag fits the Canon Rebel Xsi perfectly. I wanted a bag that was small enough to be truly portable and not look like I'm a photography nut. The bag snugly fits the camera with the the 18-200 lens attached and my kit lens (18-55mm) and my 50mm lens in the bag. I also store my SD cards, battery, charger, and some cables. That is it! If you want a bag that stores more then 3 lenses (one being attached) and the camera then you have to go bigger. If you are like me and a minimilist who just wants a case that will carry the very basics and is on the small sidethis is the bag!

I have been using Lowepro bags for a long time and I'm always amazed at the simplicity of the design. This bag is perfect as my daily grab-and-go bag for my Pentax K-7 kit. It's weather-proof, just like my Pentax gear so I don't have to worry about the occasional rain or snow shower. I keep my SLR with a prime lens in one side (actually laying on the side with the grip facing up for quick access) and have room on the other side for another lens and some filters. The strap is well made and is easy to adjust. The zippers are well made and zip easily open and closed. The bag has an overall well-made fit and finish and is a joy to use. The top handle is padded and very comfortable to hold for short periods or while moving the bag around. Like most other top-flap designed bags, the handle on the top isn't very useful unless the bag is zippered and clasped closed. A short handle strap instead of a handle would have been a better choice for me, but I'm really nitpicking here.

The memory card pockets and zippered pocket on the inside face of the top cover are perfectly placed. There are a couple of elastic pockets on the outside of each end of the bag along with a zippered pocket on the back (probably only large enough for pamphlets or a map) as well as a compact zippered pocket on the front where I keep some smaller filters. If you have a compact DSLR and are looking for a compact bag to go along with it, I would highly recommend this bag. I can sling it over my shoulder and take it with me wherever I go and it hardly weighs anything. Highly recommended!

I use my bag told hold my Rebel XS as well as all my lenses and have no complaints so far. The lenses I keep in the bag are the Canon 55-250mm IS with hood reversed, the Canon 50mm f1.8, and the Canon 18-55mm IS. I can store all of them without feeling like I am cramming too much in, and can store the camera with any of the lenses attached to it. I had looked at the Nova 140, but it did not have enough space to hold the camera with the 55-250 attached, so it was out. This bag also has lots of pockets for all the goodies you need to carry, including USB cable, cards, filters, etc. This would not work for a full frame camera, but for a consumer SLR such as the Rebel XS, this fits the bill quite nicely.

Honest reviews on Lowepro Nova 160 AW Camera Bag - Black

Great Buy!

Has space for a D-SLR [like the D90], a 18-200 zoom, Flash [like the SB-600] AND a 50mm lens.

Build quality is good.

Negatives Wish the base of the bag had a thicker / harder padding.

Conclusion:

Very good bag.

Make sure you know what will fit in. This is smaller than a full size pro kit bag and that is why I bought it. Very compact / portable.

This is my second Nova 160 bag--the first one (bought 10 years ago) is still going strong, but I needed a second. This bag is convenient in all the right ways. I have used this when backpacking. The small loops on the top rear of the bag allow it to be hung with carabiners from D rings on my pack straps so that the bag rides on my lower chest. This allows quick and convenient access when the wonderful vistas appear.

The older bag dated from the film camera era and had pocket designs to match (e.g., a removable film pouch for the front zippered pocket). The major difference with the new bag is pocket layout. The front pocket is somewhat smaller, and there is some reduction in volume from the folded all-weather cover which tucks under the front flap. The inside top pocket is also smaller, but the outside top flap pocket more than makes up for it. I can't easily fit the SD cards or CF cards (in their protective cases) into the inside card pockets, but they can be forced in or out. The zippered pocket at the back is the same as in the earlier model, and convenient for your camera guide and for stowing other flat documents. The all-weather cover is a newer and valuable feature.

Outside attachment points are well designed: shoulder strap attachments (strap is included with the bag), belt loop attachments (belt sold separately: check your local backpacking store for cheap wide nylon straps and fasteners) and the top loops at the back for front mounting the bag to your pack straps.

You can easily stow a digital SLR with mounted lens, one additional small to medium sized lens, two screw-on filters, a couple of lens hoods, and maybe your battery charger and cord (with tight packing).

I can't say enough about this camera carrying case! It is inexpensive, durable, light as a feather, and has been to Alaska with me. It has traveled more places than many people! It is everything it is advertised and more! Absolutely love it!

This case is a nice fit for my Panasonic DMC-FH25 kind of snug, with a little bit of room. Just what I was looking for. The red is slightly brighter than pictured (at least as the colors came up on my monitors) but I'm happy with it.

For the specific vendor, the product came within the window of time specified in shipping, but took a while to leave the shop (it was ordered on Dec 25). No problem, just something I noticed because most other Amazon vendors have lightning-quick turnaround (another product from another vendor that I ordered the same day/time arrived on Dec 28, this one shipped on Jan 1).

Best Deals for rooCASE (Flamming Red) SLV2 Neoprene Sleeve Carrying Case

I bought this for my Panasonic Lumix DMC-FH25 and it fits just right.

* The pocket on the outside is small so don't expect to be able to store many accessories in there. I can keep an extra memory card in there or an extra battery, but nothing else. This should be the slim case that you use when you're on the go--in a small purse, bag, etc. You will need another case or system to store your battery charger, computer cord, etc.

* I like the wrist strap but I do wish it had an adjustable clasp on it so I was able to tighten it to my wrist or whatever I am attaching it to.

* Will show dirt but seems to clean easily. I havn't had a major stain on it yet, just small spots.

* Zipper is sturdy, which is great. It's terribly annoying to buy a case for something oyu wish to protect and have the zipper fail.

* If you attach the wrist strap to your camera you will need to place it in the case with the strap hanging out where the case zipper closes because it's a pain to try to tuck the strap in to the case each time. But that's not difficult.

Overall, a nice case that certainly serves a purpose for me!

A cute little case that fits my Lumix just right. I wish it was like my other, though; in that the zipper didn't wrap around to the bottom.

I bought this case for a Panasonic Lumix LS-70 camera. Like most small digital cameras, it has a big LCD screen instead of a viewfinder. Since this is to be carried in my purse, I want to protect the screen.

The camera fits nicely and securely. The case is "clamshell" style, on which one side has a mesh storage pocket for batteries and media cards. Many small cases lack this, and anyone who uses a digital camera knows the value of extra batteries.

The other side of the "clamshell" has a velcro strap to keep the camera in place. The strap is not elastic, so you must open in to get the camera out. I consider this a plus, because the camera is very unlikely to fall out when you unzip the case.

The case comes in a variety of colors to suit your taste (or to contrast with your bag, so you can find it.) It has a carabiner clip to attach to a pack or belt loop, if you want to keep it in easy reach.

I am glad I bought it to keep my camera secure.

This pink digital camera case was purchased primarily to match my wife's pink Panasonic camera. The fact that it secures the camera very well with room to spare for extra batteries and S-D cards while retaining a reasonable compact size is a plus.

Delivery was quick and she is very satisfied with the product.

I used to stick my camera in my pocket but they would get pretty beat up looking after a while. Now the wrap gets beat up instead of the camera. This is my third one. They last two to three years before they get too shabby looking.

It was great when it worked and properly closed. The button came off after a few weeks of using this wallet. Disappointed because it was actually pretty solid until then. Here's what you get in the box:

* Hardside Case w/ handle & wheels (all pre-assembled)

* Nylon Strap

* 6 Hard-board, foam covered, slotted Dividers:

> 2 long dividers

> 2 medium dividers

> 2 short dividers

* 3 layers of foam:

> 3" perforated, pre-diced foam sheet (this is the layer you make your custom cutouts in...)

> 2" solid foam sheet (this is untouched, NOT perforated)

> 1/2" solid foam sheet (this is thin and is also untouched, NOT perforated)

Fit & Finish:

* The exterior is finished in a plastic/vinyl like material. The color is more like a flat gun metal black almost gray.

* The edges & corners are reinforced with aluminum type metal. They are fashioned with typical punch rivets.

* The hinges for the lid seem to made of steel, although not the highest grade.

* The locks are the typical brief-case/luggage style locks. They do the job to keep the lid closed, but I wouldn't rely on them to keep a thief out!

* The hand is a mix of metal, plastic, & synthetic leather.

* The wheel assembly is mostly plastic and is attached to the case with screws. The only metal part is the extendable handle the actual handle assembly is plastic.

Form & Function:

I would not classify this case as "road-worthy", meaning if you are looking for a case that can take a beating and withstand very rough handling, then look elsewhere this case will not last under abusive conditions. However, if you are looking for a case to keep your gear organized and give the illusion of professionalism for a bargain, then this is the case for you.

I think the case will handle the occasional drop and mishandling, but I fear it will begin show that kind of wear-and-tear quickly. But, if cared for, you'll get some pretty good mileage out of it.

I'm not using the "dividers" so I can not comment on how well the work. I can say that they are consistent with the rest of case as far as value and construction.

Now for the important stuff customizing the foam inserts...

1) I did not expect the 3 layers of foam, of which, only 1 is perforate, pre-diced. All 3 are removable. (Be careful not to pull up the foam backing that's covering the bottom of the case it is the same foam as the 1/2" blanket/layer...)

2) The perforations run the whole depth of the 3" layer. So, when you start pulling the squares out to form your custom inserts, you can NOT customize how deep you need them. If wanted, you can try to cut them at the point where you want the depth to be, but I found it easier to just remove the entire section remember, this layer is only about 3" thick anyway...

3) The 2" solid layer is removable and is laying under the 3" perforated layer. (I actually had to cut a custom insert section in this layer as well to accommodate a bigger item...)

4) The 1/2" layer is like blanket that originally lay on top of the 3" perforated layer. I've since relocated it to the bottom under the 2" layer so that means from the bottom up, the layers are: 1/2", then 2", and 3" at the top, obviously to expose the custom inserts.

Summary:

The case is a really good value. For the size, the customizable foam layers, and numerous dividers, you really get a great value for your money. Keep in mind that the case is NOT built for a rugged/rough adventure, but rather for customized organization, protective storage, and transportation of your precious equipment. I highly recommend this for amateurs & semi-pros looking to get the most bang-for-your-buck, for this I give it 5-stars!

Remember! "Measure twice. Cut once."

Best Deals for Zeikos ZE-HC52 Large Rolling Hard Case

I was a little reluctant at first to buy this, because most of these type of cases are cheap and flimsy, but I must say, I was pleasantly surprised. I shopped around online for a few days looking for something reasonably priced that looked good, and I'm glad I chose to look here. Most cases of this quality are at least twice the price elsewhere, so it's a good find.

This case has nice corners and strong side panels. Many reviews claim that the sides are made from plastic, but I have purchased 4 of these and all are made from thin aluminum...perhaps I am just lucky. Yes, the aluminum is thin, but it's adequate protection for those planning to take care of their cases. However, If you are planning on standing on it or taking it on your next excursion up Everest, then look elsewhere. The corners are chrome plated stamped steel secured by rivets, and the grey rails which cover the panel seams are sturdy aluminum. The latches hold strong, and the handle, although chrome plated plastic, fits well into the hand. The lid stays upright when open, which most cases do not. The locks on the latches are cool to look at, but they do not off any real protection...a nail file from a set of nail clippers can be used to open them. Many gave bad reviews because of this, but who cares anyway? Are we actually expecting Fort Knox security for $30? Even if the locks could withstand a hammer and chisel , the rest of the case wouldn't, so why expect expensive locks? The colors used in this case are very pleasing to the eye and at first glance. Fresh out of the box, it looks like something you paid $200 for, which put a smile on my face immediately. The combination of chrome, dark grey, and light grey really make it look like a high end equipment case. The carry strap is very functional and the rivets which hold it onto each side of the case are very strong. I have carried nearly 60 pounds in these cases with no problem. The lid's hinge seems to work pretty good as well...hardly any play in them.

As for the interior, it is also well done. The pick and pluck foam insert is easy to work with, and easily customizes to any size or shape. Although the foam inside is diced and can be plucked, you will still need to use a sharp X-acto knife to make things easier. Also, keep in mind that it comes apart in tiny squares, so any pocket you make will have a blocky type shape to it. If you want round edges and smooth shapes, you're going to have some serious trimming to do. I made a mistake when doing mine, by making one space a little too big. Be sure to save all your plucked foam until you're happy with the final placement of all your equipment! I was easily able to make it the right size by taking some of the picked off smaller pieces and gluing them back together with standard rubber cement. Don't use super glue or it will melt the foam and turn it white...super glue can leave a white residue after it dries. The case also comes with a set of dividers for more customization, and they too can be trimmed, but you're going to need a saw for a clean cut as they are made from wood covered in a thin rubbery material.

Overall, this is a great case for the money, and shipping was very fast! I highly suggest getting one of these if you're on a budget. I'm a paranormal investigator, and this holds all my delicate electronic equipment very well. I have over $1,000 of equipment in one of them, and I do not worry about it being protected. I get many compliments from my clients, who tell me that these are very professional looking. I have suggested all my team members use these cases, and I will be buying more of them!

Honest reviews on Zeikos ZE-HC52 Large Rolling Hard Case

Even with shipping included this Zeikos ZE-HC36 Medium Hard Case came out to $36.44 which is much less than the comparable size of the major name brand. My thinking was that this would appear cheap & probably show signs of use after the slightest bumps & bruises but "who cares". I wasn't buying it to show it off. I was buying it to protect a camcorder, shotgun microphone, lens & various other items anyone of which cost considerably more than the case.

It wasn't made to survive a combat zone but I was a little surprised to find the build quality is better than I expected. This thing costs marginally more than a decent softbag. The difference being that if either were to fall off of a table or bang against a door jam you might seriously damage anything in a softbag. On the other hand the Zeikos may get marred or scuffed up but what's in it will be protected & that's all that really counts for me. The upside is that if I make even the slightest effort to take care of this case, what's in it will never suffer any damage.

The size is big enough to hold everything I needed except the tripod & I already have a bag for that. I have not cut the foam insert yet as I'm still waiting for the 4x ZOOM lens. Once I have everything I want to store in the case I will lay it out & it will be a breeze to set up form fitting spaces for each item as the foam is pre-cut.

I bought this case from an Amazon affiliate, "Electronics Club" & they sent me an E-mail saying it would be shipped on September 11th. They must have used a time warp to ship it because I received on September 9th. Over-all I'm real happy I could spend less than $50 for the piece of mind that I could protect over a $1,500 worth of sensitive & fragile camcorder & accessories.

If you're looking for a hard case that won't cost an arm & a leg, this is it.

I love this case. It has the room I need for my camera, and other items. I will say that my one draw back is cutting the foam to fit my camera and the other items. But it holds everything in it's place with no problems. I will be buying another one soon.

Be carefull buying this bundle of products from cameta camera. Just an excuse for not honoring with the advertising. I just acquired the bag due to the supposed "value" cameta camera was promising for the bundle, but it is a false advertising. The inside is nice but I noticed the rubber grooved liner WAS NOT installed correctly and doesn't line up precisely with the included spacer bars.Bummer. So i simply won't use those parts, not to big of a deal.

I will update as I use it more. Thus the 3 stars SO FAR.

Thanks,Mako/

I have 2 of these camera cases and they are great for storing camera equipment. I can hold the camera body, two zoom lenses, a couple of other smaller lenses, and a spare battery. The only thing is it is not great for traveling and the case gets scratched easily. But that is a small price to pay to protect my camera equipment.

It is a good sturdy case and only fits camera and basic essentials. But it isn't a bad deal for this item.

This case is a perfect fit for my Canon t3i. I have the 18-135mm lens. The camera's original shoulder strap can be easily slipped into side hooks of the case. Real leather and light weight and looks really retro. I wanted this case for short outings when I did not want to carry around my backpack case and accessories. Best part is that I don't need to remove this case to store the camera back into the backpack as it is almost the same size as the camera. My 67mm tulip lens hood however will not fit in even if reversed on the lens. This is the only antique brown real leather case for the t3i on amazon. This case also comes in dark brown but the antique looks great. You won't regret this purchase.

Reason for the 4 stars :

I have to admit the only inconvenience with the case is that you need to remove it if you need to remove the SD card for backup, removal of battery to recharge/replace or to connect any of the cables. If we have a corded or cordless remotes we need to remove the case. The manufacturer should include more holes in this case especially for the IR remote sensor which is in the camera grip part of the case.

Otherwise it is a great case and I love it.

Great Product, Great Antique Look ***Do not "Scotch Guard"!***

Love the item, it is a tad big in the body for my Canon T3i. Fits generally well (despite the aforementioned) with both 55-250mm and 18-135mm lenses. I attempted to coat the cover with 3M "Scotchguard" and was left with what is best described as light / white-ish water spots. My own fault, I thought I might mention to save others from potentially the same mistake. I have used the case with the Tamarac "ZipShot" tripod and available extra quick release adapter and all work well together. The case does cover the remote sensor which is not awesome, but overall, the antique look may be worth the hassle for certain situations...more form than function. This case is a good-looking date with no intelligence...to be use accordingly. Probably not the best "general purpose" or "all around" case. Great look overall.

Being new to photography and realizing that I need an actually bag this suffices for on the go quick travels. I honestly didn't think I would haul around other lenses and equipment. My friends compliment me on the case as fitment is superb and styling is retro . Everyone likes it, the quality of the leather is very nice and the color is rich.

Honest reviews on MegaGear ''Ever Ready'' Antique Dark Brown DSLR Camera Case

For some reason, I'm really partial to having in-place cases for my electronic devices. I can't seem to have them just "bare" even when I know the build quality is up to it. I recently bought my first DSLR, a Canon T3i, and knew I had to have a case for it. I really liked the retro-style two-piece case I had on my Canon G10, and looked around Amazon for something similar. This case fit the bill.

The deep dark brown is extremely attractive. I'm not sure as to the long-term durability of the leather, but the stitches are strong and even. The inside of the case is lightly padded and soft against the body of the camera. It has brass hardware, and the 5 snaps are easy to secure and unsnap. Unfortunately, the strap fasteners are hooks instead of closed loops, so it was very easy for my camera strap to slip off of them. Luckily it didn't result in the camera getting dropped. They may work better with a different kind of strap, or for people who want to disconnect their straps quickly, but I don't plan on using them until I can find a way to close them off, or replace them with a closed loop.

I can confirm that this fits the stock 18-55mm, 50mm, and 55-250 mm lenses. Unfortunately, none of my lens hoods will fit inside while still on the lenses. There's plenty of room forward, but the barrel of the case itself is too narrow. It's not really a big deal, as you can simply put the hood on after you take off the main part of the case, but it does mean you have to store it separately for a trip. Despite the barrel of the case being narrow on the inside, when the whole case is on the camera, it looks and is massive. I much prefer taking the main piece off, leaving it in the car, and using just the bottom piece while walking about. I only put it back on when I'm done and plan to store it.

Unfortunately, you can't gain access to the battery, output ports, or card slot without taking the case completely off. At first I found this to be a bit of a nuisance, but after doing it a bunch of times, I found that it only took me a few moments to take it off and put it back on.

Even though I had a few minor quibbles, I'm not so sure that the case could be designed all that differently and still afford the protection it does while keeping the size manageable. I'd recommend it to anyone who would use it as a quick travel case, and likes to provide a little extra protection to their gear. Cheers!
