This is a great little bag for my daughter's camera. When you open it up, it was a mesh pocket on one side and a velcro strap on the other. It keeps the camera very secure and in place. However, from the first time she used it, the zipper didn't work. There are two zippers and one works and one doesn't. It is very annoying and I'm hoping the company will send me a new one because I do like the case. Just the zipper never worked quite right.

After much thought, I decided to get a sling-type bag, as a backpack would be too difficult to access on the run, and in my experience a traditional (boxy) camera bag is a pain to carry around.

I have an EOS 20D with the 17-85mm zoom, and it fits beautifully in the main compartment with sufficient room for another lens and a flash or for two lenses.Then there's an upper compartment where I keep my battery charger, cables and other assorted stuff, and a filter pocket in the front.

Some nice details that really stand out to me:

The hidden all-weather cover that stows away in a flat Velcro-ed pocket to the base of the bag is invisible until you pull it out for use: so much so that one reviewer didn't even realise it is there!

The back is very well padded.

The zips are very high quality, and silent when in use. When they are closed the zips themselves are not visible, instead you have a neat covered `bead' for the length of the opening.

The main compartment flap opens fully, giving unrestricted access.

There are two nylon webbing straps with quick-release clips to that ensure that when the bag is on your front, there is no chance that the flap will accidentally open due to the weight of the camera, even is the zips are half opened. This is hard to describe accurately, but trust methere'll be no nasty surprises if these clips are in place.

When in shooting position, the bag presents an excellent platform for your elbows, greatly enhancing the steadiness of your shot.

There's a built-in microfibre cloth that protects your LCD screen whilst the camera is in the bag, and may well be used as a lenscloth.

When you want to get moving, there's a second smaller strap that attaches easily to the main strap so that the bag really stays put on your back, even when hunched over on a bike.

This is beautifully made and intelligently designed bag that will likely last for years. I can't recommend it highly enough.

UPDATE: Have gotten the 70-300 IS (non-DO) canon zoom and the SlingShot 100 will not fit this lens whilst it's attached to the body without distortion of the closure flap it does however fit the 20D body with a 17-85 mounted on it whilst the 70-300 is in the left compartment and the 70-300's large lens hood stored either on the lens in reverse, or in the right compartment, so I'm still happy with it.

UPDATE 2: Alexander asked me is the Slingshot would work on one shoulder: i.e. not over your head and across your chest. The answer is yes and no: you can certainly sling it over one shoulder, but due to the angle it was designed to work at the strap does not 'sit' as well on one side, so if you choose to carry it like this, you'll have to hold on to the bag a bit. Having said this, I use it on one shoulder far more than slung across my chest, so let that be your guide.

Lowe has done it again. I own 2 other Lowe bags (one being my expedition backpack for camping and a computrekker). I swear by their design innovation and attention to using professional grade materials.

I use the SlingShot 100 AW everyday. Photo ops come up at any second. You have to be ready and the SlingShot allows you to be there. It comfortably holds my DSLR Rebel XT, 430EX flash, 5 memory cards, cables, power adapter, 24mm lens, 85mm lens, 100mm macro lens and the attached 18-55mm lens.

The INGENIOUS sling design is easy to use. Simply rotate unzip the main compartment (everything stays in because the closeable buckles prohibit you from opening it up too far) and easily lift the camera out in shooting position.

While the camera is out, the bag hangs comfortable around the front and I use it to rest my elbow on while shooting (an added bonus! stability).

The stabilizing strap can be hidden away, very NICE touch. And easily pulled out when needed.

The all-weather (AW) hidden cover comes out and protects in a downpour. Another great idea.

The microfiber LCD protector, numerous pockets are added bonuses, but the TRUE BEAUTY OF THIS BAG is that it allows QUICK, EASY AND SECURE motion from storage to shoot.

I got the 100 because I'm smaller and prefer a smaller bag. If I need to absolutely carry more lenses and gear, I'll most likely be going somewhere where I'm going to be stationary so I'll use my Lowe computrekker.

But as for being in the field, and being ready at moments notice...the SlingShot is it.

Contrary to the previous reviewer's comments, the all-weather sleeve that did not "come with the bag" is attached to the bottom of the bag -there's no way that it did not come with the bag as the previous author writes. It is a very well-padded compact bag, and has enough room for a dSLR with lens attached (I have an EOS Digital Rebel XT) and room for two additional lenses (one shorter-length prime lens and maybe one standard telephoto zoom). Additionally, it's easy to quickly remove the camera from the bag because the zippers are on the side of the sling, allowing you quickly swing the bag to the front of your body, open the bag, and grab your camera. Removeable padded areas attached via Velcro allow for personal customization of the bag to better fit your equipment needs. This bag gets a favorable mention in my book.

I just purchased the new Sony DSC-W50 and wanted a case to protect it. This is a great case in my opinion. Soft and plush inside, but firm and protective on the outside. The camera is held firmly in place from the moment you first slide it in the pocket. The additional small zippered pocket on the outside is handy for extra memory sticks, or maybe even an extra battery. The belt loop is very handy, and there is even a metal ring so that you can attach it to a carabiner or something of the like if desired. However, what I like most is that it will protect your investment and look good doing it. I think it's one of the best buys out there. It can be had for less than $15 delivered from several sellers through Amazon.

I bought this case for my Canon SD300 that I had recently purchased. I was looking for a small compact camera case that still have some type of padding or support. While at the store, I compared the case meant for the Canon to many others. I picked up this one mainly because it had much more protection compared to the Canon case, and it came with an extra zipper in the front, perfect for that extra memory card/battery you need to carry around. Even the inner lining of the case is exceptional, with fuzzy material soft enough not to scratch the LCD screen. My SD300 fits perfectly in the case, and although they may not be the same brand, it definitely was a great buy.

I bought this case for my wife's new Sony DSC-W70 camera and she loves it. It is pretty slick and fits the camera just tight and right. Its plush interior foam pad offers plenty of protection. I'd say that the camera would suffer litlle damage when dropped. The exterior case is made with a high quality material that not only looks good but will also last for years. The whole thing stays small enough to be carried in my wife's purse easily. Keep in mind that its overall thickness is about 1.5 inch (while the camera is just 0.5 inch) so it won't fit comfortably in any pant/shirt pocket though. If this is what you want, then probably get the leather case model without foam instead. On the other hand, we like the extra protection, zippered pocket, the handy belt loop and the unbeattable price/quality/look.

Amazon bundled a battery and this case when I purchased the Sony DSC-HX5V. Problem is this camera just doesn't fit very well in this small case. The lens is slightly raised and the camera is just a little too long for this small case. The Velcros really has to stretch to fit and I fear that if clipped to a belt the velcro could come loose and the camera could fall out. I don't know if it was amazon or sony that suggested bundling these, but it is not a match.

I would not recommend this kit for a beginner. The instructions are a bit weak at a few key places, such as which side of a diode goes where. For some reason a bunch of pictures are just wrong (and bizarrely called out in text as "this picture is wrong"). The board artwork didn't make use of thermal reliefs so soldering pins to the ground plane is difficult requires some care. (Thermals? I guess they don't teach that stuff in school.)

The full-blown Triggertrap runs about $200, so assembling this shield and pairing it with a $30 Arduino Deumilanova represents quite a saving ($120 to be exact). Aside from having to assemble the shield yourself, the arrangement of components on the shield also differs from the full-blown product. The shield is virtually covered in light, laser and sound sensors plus Aux. Input, Camera Remote jacks, an IR transmitter, 5 pushbuttons and an LCD display! Quite a feat of engineering, but very hard to wrap any kind of protective case around.

Function-wise, the shield seems to do everything the full-blown unit does, with perhaps the exception of an LED indicating that the camera has been triggered. (At least I couldn't find an LED on the shield.)

As the other reviewers have indicated, assembly is pretty straightforward and well-explained (with the exception of diode orientation) on the website. You do probably need a decent temperature controlled soldering station for all these tiny components.

Once assembled and paired with an Arduino, you can trigger your camera via:

Laser

Ambient light

Sound

Aux. connector

Timelapse

You can signal to your camera with a cable (you buy or build to match your camera) or use the on-board IR Transmitter (not sure which cameras this works with). All options have threshold and delay settings.

If you have never played with the Arduino before, set aside a couple of hours to install the programming software on your PC and play with some sample "sketches" (programs). This whole process is thoroughly documented on the web and should not pose a problem if you give yourself a little time to get into it. Once "programmed" the Arduino can be disconnected from the PC and run by itself. All you will need is a 7-12 VDC power supply or it can draw 5V from a USB cable.

This is really an extraordinary product and I hope it will continue to be offered. The same vendor's Smartphone apps seem to have taken over their attention, but you don't get the cool sensors with that app.

I bought this bag when I upgraded my Canon 30D to add a 24-70 mm L class lens. It's a perfect fit. I owned the smaller version of this bag, which held my 30D plus 17-85 mm lens, and loved the compact fit. The bag carries well and has an unobtrusive (i.e. no big brand tags) but stylish black trim (I think it's also available in grey). So once again, it's not a bag that screams "camera". (I really like the generally toned down style of most Tamrac products). I like the zipper arrangement too .. granted, it does take some time to take out the camera but this is more than compensated by the added security of not allowing someone to reach in and remove something. You can also carry the bag unzippered with the camera straps out and hanging over your shoulder, which allows for instant access but keeps the camera protected against bumps etc. The front pocket is not that big (thankfully), and will take extra cards, a battery, cleaning brush, and a cell phone.

I took the long route to this bag and by that I mean I purchased a few other bags that were stated to hold DSLR's with battery grips but sadly they did not. So I was a little leery when I ordered this bag for fear this would work out similarly. Fortunately the bag fit my camera w/ grip and tripod quick release perfectly! I have a D7000 w/ grip and a D800 (yet to have grip) as well as a lot of other gear (tripod, light gear, multiple lenses, etc.) so I was not looking for an "all purpose" bag rather what I wanted was something to protect my camera when it was in the bag with all my other gear. This bag works perfect for this purpose. I'm not really sure why I didn't buy a Tamrac bag in the first place because I've used Tamrac products in the past and they've always been excellent. I love their lens bags and if my 14-24mm and 24-70mm lenses didn't already come with a nifty Nikon lens bag, I would have Tamrac lens bags for them as I do for my 70-300mm.

So if you're looking for a bag to protect your camera/battery grip and tripod quick release then this is the bag for you!

I purchased this to accommodate my Pentax K5 + Battery Grip, and it is sized perfectly for that purpose. My biggest lens is a 55-300 mm, and the length of this bag just accommodates that mounted to the camera + the camera strap. If I had a bigger lens, I'd probably need the next larger bag.

Unfortunately, I feel that for a "professional" holster it doesn't really exceed in quality of the Lowepro Holster I had for my camera sans grip. I somewhat expect a professional bag like this to have some type of internal frame to support the camera, and this one doesn't' have that; the Lowepro holster (not professional) did.

The bag is large. While my camera fits nicely in the bag, I can't help but feel the bag is huge. I guess it makes you look professional, but I don't like to stick out as a photographer when I am out and about.

The shoulder strap is ok, and the metal clips for them are nice. The connections feel much better than the other holster I've referred to. The cover zips shut and snaps down to the base of the bag. It definitely feels like it will provide nice weather protection, but this makes for a very large cover that is difficult to open out of the way when trying to quickly draw out your camera. This would be better if the cover hinged away from the user. One can wear it over the shoulder to allow that use, but I like using the belt loops for stabilization while hiking and that prevents a backward use and a more convenient open away from the user loading.

The front pocket is fine. It isn't anything terribly special. The flags can be useful for marking used cards or batteries but they definitely shouldn't be a deciding factor in choosing the bag. The loops on the side are nice for attaching some of Tamrac's accessory pouches for carrying an extra lens or flash.

Overall, I recommend this bag if you are carrying a camera with a grip or a professional full frame body. Anything smaller, I'd move down a size. The bag is too big for a non-gripped camera.

I'm picky when it comes to bags, but this one met my requirements. I needed a small-ish bag to bring with me on a trip to Iceland. I usually use a Bleu de Chauffe Louise Plumber leather bag, but since I was traveling I wanted to bring an extra camera, and the Bleu de Chauffe 1) was too small to fit both my Leica & Fuji X100 comfortably, and 2) it's leather, and I was worried about Iceland's unpredictable weather ruining the bag.

I'd heard good things about Billingham for years, so I decided to give one a try. As a way to carry and protect your camera gear, it's perfectly fine. It fit everything I wanted to fit (Leica M6 w/ 50mm lens, Fuji X100, small tabletop tripod, light meter, Kindle, and a few filters and batteries).

My criticisms are aesthetic ones.

* I wish it were available in more colors. I don't like the way the green looks (too bright), and the khaki isn't really my style, so black was my only reasonable option. I wish it was available in grey/charcoal (perhaps with oxblood/reddish leather), or a dull camel waxed canvas. Even a darker green with darker brown leather would have been better.

* The lining is green. This would make sense if the bag itself were green, but it's not. Black or grey would have been much better and more consistent with the look of the bag.

* The insert material seems cheap. I'm sure it's fine and will hold up for a while, but it cheapens the look and feel of the bag. Also, it's the same green as the lining, which is ugly inside a black bag.

* I'd prefer a removable strap, or even one that connected to the bag through a loop of some sort so that I could cut it off and replace it. Unfortunately the strap is entirely sewn in to the bag, so I'm unable to replace it if I were so inclined.

Otherwise, the structure of the bag is great. I love that I can fit my iPad or a book or Kindle into the back perfectly (behind the insert).

Received this case as part of a package. It's sturdy, well-built, and fairly well thought-out, with a zippered (and flap protected) pouch on the front for accessories such as cables, spare batteries, etc. There is also a compartment built into the top for smaller items like memory card, lens cover, cleaning cloths, maybe a USB card adapter. The front and top compartments have velcro/zipper closures. The main compartment has a velcro adustable divider for presumably an extra lens.

There are two problems I have with the case. First, its too small, really for my PEN E-PL3 wearing the 14-40mm lens and 40-150mm packed to the side. It seems to be a common problem amongst cases trying to get too much in too small a space. I understand stuff needs to be tight in a case, but the camera barely fits, needing to be pushed in while pulling on the case. That leads to my other problem, which is the main compartment zipper. Dude. If you're going to put together a nice little case like this, why on earth would you put on a cheap zipper that breaks on the first zip? It's one of those nylon zippers with two zippers that can meet at the middle. But on this case they won't, because one is broken such that the closure is open on both sides. The other zipper will come around, with some effort to get around the camera and lens, but I'm guessing it will break soon, too.

In my opinion, a camera case should be secured with a latch, not a zipper. Especially a cheap zipper. With a couple of design changes this could be a good camera case.

I have a Canon Coolpix with that great 14X zoom lens and a rather fragile auto-lens cover. The LCD screen needs to be protected as well. For hiking or casual day use I am confident I can protect the camera with a soft case. But for traveling or if I need to toss it into a backpack or bag, I want real protection. The Pascal Aluminum case is not a true hard shell in that is has a zipper all around the sides with a strip of material. So, if the case were crushed, the camera body would take some of that crushing pressure. But, the pressure should be distributed evenly and the auto-lens cover and LCD screen should be protected, so I am fairly confident the camera would be fine except under really extreme conditions. The camera fits snugly, which is what I want. There is just enough room for a spare battery and chip. And, I will be careful to face the auto-lens away from the little pocket that holds the battery which might otherwise place pressure on its fragile areas. I chose red so I can find it in a bag or sitting on a hotel bed. the baby beaner is fairly essential as there is no other strap and I think it will work well.

i bought this bag to carry my canon 40d and a lens i use. well it worked great for about a month and just recently it has started to tear from the seams in 3 different places. and because its tearing at the handle i can no longer use it. im disappointed but i think all in all this bag would work for a smaller more compact camera or maybe even the rebel. i dont recommend for larger dslr's.

This camera bag is Ideal for me because it is small enough that it does not get in the way it tight spaces, but is large enough to fit my Nikon d5000, 18/55 lens, 55/200 lens, sb600 speed light, 2x converter lens, wide angle lens,battery grip, all of the cables and charger, my point and shoot camera, lens hood, and have room left. I also like the fact that it has the water resistant cover built in and tucked away so it does not take up any of the space you could use for your equipment. This was a great find.

Got this because I finally had to, after buying too many attachments for my Panasonic Lumix. The pack was available at a good price, as these things can get expensive very quickly, especially for names like Tamrac, Thinktank and Lowepro. This same pack made by any of those would cost two to three times as much.

But, one gets what one pays for. A small fishnet pocket just under the front cover tore when I went to stick an extra battery in there. Not good, but not worth returning the pack for that. Pocket is virtually useless otherwise, since too small. I didn't really need it, but it shouldn't have torn like it did.) There's a better pocket on the right side in a separate compartment (that zips) just under the front flap cover and then another larger fishnet pocket on the inside (that also zips) opposite the main interior where the camera, any lenses and so on go. And yeah, dividers are all adjustable or removable if one doesn't need them all. Oddly, there's a strap attached to one of the main dividers for which there seems no use. Maybe someone knows what it's for; I don't.

Otherwise, seems pretty good. It turned out the right size for all my gear, including a wide-angle lens attachment in case, the lens extender necessary for attaching the wide-angle or any filter, the camera in case of course, a special viewing hood (to block screen glare) with loupe and which--in it's own case--is as big as the camera, a Nikon lens cleaning kit (and which I HIGHLY recommend obtaining), and a few other minor items: spare battery, battery charger, 100-page camera manual!, etc.

The pack with very cushy dividers turned out just the right size, not too big and not too small. I got everything in it. Kinda wish there were some tripod straps, but at the price...

If you have a DSLR, this might be a little tight if you also have more than two extra lenses. If so, don't expect to fit a lot more in the pack beyond those items.

Have to see how long it lasts after using for awhile.

This camera bag is VERY cute which is primarily why I purchased it. I hate carrying around black neoprene cases that usually end up covered in dog hair. It has plenty of storage, and its dual zipper pull makes accessing the contents very simple. The interior is well padded and soft so I'm not worried about the display screen. There are a couple of downsides which, for me, aren't deal breakers but was disappointed nonetheless. My mid-sized DSLR takes up a lot of space and didn't allow for much additional storage space. I was really hoping I could squeeze a small wallet in there so it works as a purse as well. The other downside is the strap is not adjustable. I usually wear this as a cross-body bag so not a huge deal, but was disappointed when I wanted to carry it as a shoulder bag.

I love this camera bag; no regrets on this purchase.

I wanted a camera bag that wasn't bulky, wasn't obvious but fit my Nikon 1 J2 camera plus extra lens and accessories. AND IT DOES!!!!

What didn't expect and I am thrilled with it that it looks like a small purse and fully loaded with camera equipment yet I still have room for my cell phone and cash/coins, etc. Totally pleased to be able to use it as a camera bag/purse and it not be obvious. Plus it is very stylish!!

Bag itself is nicely proportioned not as big thankfully as it looks in the picture, outside is wipable and interior compartments are adjustable.

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this bag if you are looking for something different, subtle yet practical, not too big, fits a good amount of camera equipment plus cell phone, id and cash and is dual propose.

So you just bought your first DSLR and you're looking for THE bag to protect your hard earned money.

Unfortunately for me, I bought a tamrac (expedition 3) in my haste to have a bag for my DSLR. Wrong decision as it was too stiff. Although my camera will be well protected, I was worried all the time that my camera LCD, camera body, lens, and other stuff would get scratched by its velcro lining (really stiff, scratched the back of my hands while moving the compartments around). Not to mention the zippers that are really a pain to open/close. I'm the type who puts his camera back in the bag instead of settling it on a table when not in use even though I know I'll be using it again in a couple of hours. So it was really tedious to open/close the whole bag just to get the camera.

I have a friend with a Lowepro flipside. I like the accessibility but I didn't like how it looked, triangular like a pigeon hole. Plus the fact that it looks like a camera bag (too flashy) and a sling-type, it would be really uncomfortable to carry it around when you try to squat or bend. That is why I just settled for the tamrac.

After a few days though, I stumbled upon the Lowepro Fastpack via youtube. I saw how great it looks (just like an ordinary backpack) and with the easy access design as well. I didn't think twice anymore so I immediately ordered it.

The bag is well designed and VERY comfortable. The back part of the bag is well padded and has a plastic cardboard underneath, perhaps to keep it upright at all times. The straps are really comfortable and one of the straps comes with a pocket for your phone, money, or other things you might want to have access on easily that will fit in the pocket.

The bottom part of the bag has the easy access area where the camera is kept. It has an inverted type zipper, instead of the metal side of the zipper, the cloth side is exposed so this helps (in a way) in sealing off the compartment and preventing splashes of water or rain from going in. As with the advertisement video, there are buckles to prevent the zippers from opening fully so you will be able to get your camera quickly without worrying that your lenses would fall out. The paddings are adjustable to fit your needs and the velcro is strong enough to hold your stuff in place but soft enough to not scratch anything, even your skin =).

As for the upper part of the bag, the zipper is installed in a regular fashion but the bag has flaps to cover the zipper. There are several pockets all over the bag that you can use to put other small items.

What I like about the bag, aside from the easy access, is that I have the upper compartment for other personal items. With the tamrac, it's purely a camera bag so there's no room for me to place my wallet, phone, keys, extra shirt, etc.. Also, if the lower camera compartment is not enough, the upper part will accommodate extra accessories such as flash guns, telephoto lens, and other accessories that comes with their own pouches.

Just to give the readers an idea of what's inside my bag. Bottom part has the camera with 18-55mm lens attached, big flash gun, 55-250mm lens, lens hood (around 3 inches deep for the 55-250mm), body cap, lens cap, camera battery charger, and AA charger. The upper part has 2 lens pen, blower, and remote receiver with transmitter. The pocket in front of the bottom part contains the AA batteris, and the foot of the flash gun.

Overall, I really like this bag. The build, comfort, and easy access makes this bag THE bag for me and will plan to keep it until it wears out or I simply have more stuff that the bag will not be able to accommodate.

Note though that the easy access opening is on the left side when worn on the back. If you're right handed (like me), it will take some time to get used to swinging the bag from your left side instead of the right. At first I thought that this would be irritating but when I actually used the bag, I realized that it's great that the easy access is on the left. I went to the zoo one time to try out my new long lens. After I was done, I figured that I would also take a shot of the entrance but my long lens couldn't capture the whole sign without me backing up. Unfortunately, there was no more space to back up so I decided to switch to my short range lens. This is where I felt the ease of having the easy access opening on the left. Since I was right handed, it's normal to swing my camera on my right side so it's more comfortable to have my backpack swinging from my left side. This gave me the ease of opening the backpack without my camera blocking the way. I was able to switch lenses right then and there without having to juggle between my bag and camera. Perfect!

This backpack is very well designed for its purpose: casual travel or street photography. It keeps one camera easily accessible, looks like a regular backpack, and safely holds a moderate amount of gear.

I've previously traveled for weeks at a time with a traditional Domke shoulder bag (J-1 or J-3). Here are the pros and cons of the Fastpack compared to a traditional "journalist" bag:

Pros

-More comfortable to carry for long periods.

-Doesn't look like an obvious camera bag.

-Once zipped up, your gear is well padded on all sides; it can sit sideways, go in an overhead compartment, etc.

-Leaves plenty of extra space for your water bottle, guidebook, sunglass case, lunch bag, whatever.

Cons

-Obviously less convenient during a shoot. Your camera is pretty easy to get to. You could maybe get to one more lens with the bag still on your shoulder. But that's it.

-Layout of the main compartment is not very flexible; the dividers can only be positioned pretty much as shown in the photo (though they can be removed).

-No D rings or straps for a tripod, etc.

In size, the 200 model is a good fit for a Canon 5D (or 50D) without battery grip. A 5D with grip or a 1D would barely fit. Regarding lenses, a 70-400 f/4 will fit mounted on the camera or in the space below, barely. For smaller size L zooms (such as a 25-105 f/4 IS) you could fit four (one on the camera, one next to it, two below) and still have room for a flash.

Note the 200 model has exactly the same space and layout inside the camera compartment and top compartment as the 250 model; the only different is that the 250 adds a laptop compartment and a waist strap.

This is a good product overall, but I was very disappointed to find out that it does not have a waist belt. I did a lot of research to ensure whatever camera bag I got had a waist or chest belt to alleviate the weight that goes on the shoulders. The video for this product on Lowepro's website shows a "comfortable light-weight harness" as they call it. But after receiving the product I see that it does not have one. I contacted Lowepro and it turns out that the product video is for the whole Fastpack series and this harness is only available on higher models...no mention of this exception in the video or in the product description/specs.

My husband and I had the Lowepro Photo Runner first for when we went to Hawaii a couple of years ago so that the camera would be easily accessible. The only problem was that he had to carry it most of the time because I was pregnant so it wasn't very comfortable. We also had to take a backpack to carry our personal items. We decided for our trip to NYC that we would get the Fastpack because I prefer two straps (as opposed to the one strap on the SlingShot). We also liked that it seemed to have more storage for personal items than the SlingShot. We went with the 200 instead of the 100 because in some of the reviews it said that the 100 was too small. We wanted to carry our Canon Rebel camera with its lens, an extra zoom lens, and our JVC Everio video camera. We first thought it would be too big because we ended up with extra room so we just moved the partitioners around to make it fit snugly. It ended up working out well. I was also able to carry it this time, even though I was further along in this next pregnancy. We also never really worried that anything would be stolen out of it so that was nice and we didn't feel like we looked as touristy as if we had taken the Photo Runner.

Got this for my D40 as a daypack. I don't have a lot, but I can fit my tripod (one of those tiny flexible ones, just in case) the D40 with 18-55mm VR, my 50mm f/1.8 AIS, a lenspen, and a canon sd770 (which I'll probably carry in my pocket, but I like having room for it). I was worried at first because the D40 is actually a little small for the space, but it doesn't move around. In the future, I'll be able to carry at least two more lenses, and just move the miscellaneous stuff to a different pocket. Also, more than enough room to keep putting other stuff I need--spare battery, the grip if I get it, hoods, etc.

If your longest lens+hood+filters+camera is less than 11", it will fit without disassembling it. This will leave you two roughly 7.5x2" rectangular compartments on each side of the lens, which you can further divide into two more compartments with different combinations (from about 4x2" to about 6x2" for the larger compartment in each).

The top compartment is roughly 12" high, 8" wide, and 6" deep at the base. It stays at about 6" maximum depth until 6" high. so if you can fit your other junk in a 12"x6"x6" space, you'll be good.

I was worried that the top pocket wouldn't be big enough for my laptop (8.9"). I love being able to take it, since I can stop and type up a page if I'm feeling inspired. I used to carry a notebook but it literally takes me an hour to read my handwriting and retype it. I can also plug in a mic and take audio notes as I shoot if there's something particular I want done with a shot, or just to record my thoughts. Weird, but nice. Anyway, this bag is more than big enough for the laptop in its padded case, and I have a lot of space to spare.

The pocket on the top front is roomy, and can ALMOST fit my 8.9" laptop. Not quite though. Actually, it would probably fit, but the zipper would tear it to pieces so I don't wanna :-)

The bottom front pocket (which is covered by the security flap) is decent sized. You could fit a good paperback novel, user manuals, etc. I'll probably use it for my wallet/papers.

Definitely no room for textbooks[SEE UPDATE], which I might have liked, and the bigger "camera" bags are much more expensive. I also found mine a bit cheaper than the one listed here.

Overall, a really great camera bag that fits my needs perfectly.

OH wanted to add another concern I initially had. I thought the side compartment might be a security risk--well, if you're not interested in the "fast access," you can simply move the zippers of the side access under the security flap. This means that you can't open it easily, but neither can anyone else :-)

Update 9/4/2013: This is a fairly old review (I've had the bag for almost 5 years now I think), but I wanted to mention that I am now using it as a regular bookbag. If you take out the removable camera cushions in the bottom you can comfortably fit 2 or 3 textbooks (of course, that means no camera unless you fit it in the top compartment which is a lot less safe).

As a further update, this bag is extremely comfortable. I walked all over DC with both my netbook and camera (probably 10lbs altogether), and have been using it as well as a messenger bag to tote my books around college roughly a mile a day. I barely notice it (no back pain or straps digging in my shoulder, just calves burning from the weight).It's also extremely durable. Over the past 5 years it's been back and forth to school over 4 years, on several flights to the U.K. as a carry-on, and around Wales. I love it.
