I bought this plate so I could attach one end of my camera strap to the bottom of the camera so that the lens points downwards when walking around instead of protruding from my body. With this plate you can then still use it with your tripod without having to remove the strap.

better design than the old one, nice color and even smaller, red part have good non slip function. i love it
