I have a few smaller bags, each serving a purpose.

The past year or so I have been carrying three bags on a small ladder kart to haul my gear around at weddings, baptisms, etc.

I felt like I would either forget which pouch had items in it or that it looked unprofessional to carry a mishmosh of bags.

I was thinking of going with Pelican hard cases, or even Tamrac as I prefer their bags over Lowepro.

I wish this bag had larger wheels because it seems as though the bag would wear down if dragged at the wrong angle.

Apparently, Lowepro thought of this too because the bottom has hard plastic to prevent any material from ripping.

The wheels are removable which is a big improvement over bags they made in the past.. There aren't an abundance of pockets which I was shocked with, but in thinking about it it's less stuff to lose (I cannot tell you how many lens pens I have).

These companies always supply tons of dividers which I always end up ripping out. I am sure that many of us can make our own bags with extra dividers we have laying around!

The zippers on the bag are rugged and I have no doubt they will stand the test of time.

A lot of thought went into this bag from the kickstand and tripod mounts I will hardly utilize to the handles on three sides of the bag for easy lifting (if you discount the weight).

Make no mistake about it, this bag is HEAVY and is NOT an everyday bag. However, for weddings, etc. I highly recommend it.

My gear for reference:

(2) Olympus E3's with battery Grips

(2) FL50 flash units

14-45mm

14-54mm

50mm macro

50-200mm

35-100mm

Light meter

Hyperdrive

Quantum power pack

(2) lacrosse AA chargers

Sony mini DV camcorder

43" 5-1 reflector

Laptop

Cables, cables and more cables

(2)flash brackets from Demb.

Cleaning pens, clothes, etc.

If you need space and protection, this is for you. This is not the everyday little camera bag. It's a "get serious now 'cause we're going to shoot a wedding" (BV, Commercial Shoot, Family Reunion, or whatever event finds you needing all of your stuff) camera case.

Very well made, does all the neat things the ad says it will do although I have not tried to unzip the center and use it as a back pack. I sort of doubt that I would want to carry this much weight around, but getting on a plane with it might not be so bad.

Wonderful product.

I love the fact that I now can put my energy into the shoot as opposed to just getting there. This bag has a lot of great options... the handle tripod attachment being one of my favorites but I the only reason I give it 4 stars instead of five is I wish it had bungee straps on the outside to hold reflectors and a few more small exterior pockets for quick access. The quality is fantastic. It rolls well and so far it's the best bag on the market... I'm just obsessive about organization & that is why I feel those other options would be nice.

This bag is great! It holds pretty much everything my husband needs for a shoot. It has lighted our load and makes it much easier to transport. Little pricey but would buy again.

This is one of the larger roller camera bags I have seen, which is what I wanted. I use this for airline travel as well as local transport of my gear for on-location shoots, like wedding and portrait work. Good solid construction. Good ability to remodel the inside to fit lenses, cameras, flashes, etc. This carries all my flash gear, three camera bodies, 5 lenses (15mm fisheye up to a 70-200mm lens), and all my other paraphernalia (wireless triggers, batteries, various charging equipment, CF cards, etc). I am extremely happy with the construction and setup of the bag.

Other thoughts: About 50% of the time TSA rifles through it and leaves their little notes. Slightly more expensive than the ThinkTank option but also a bit larger for more equipment.

Very happy with my purchase.

I have a smaller case that will hold my laptop, but there's not much room for my charger and accessories.

This one is great as far as size goes. Seems to be well padded, and has lots of storage in the outside pocket.

It seems like it will be great for traveling.

The only thing that kept me from giving this 5 stars is while there is room for the charger in the main compartment, it takes away from room for a book or notepad etc. I wish there was a little more room in the outside pocketI'll figure it out though.

It's compact yet very practical, that's it's main strength. It's a good value. It's perfect for mirrorless cameras like Sony Alphas or micro four thirds cameras with a couple extra lens, filters etc. The one gotcha that's not described or visible on the photo is its reliance on Velcro: the top lid does not have a zipper, only Velcro on the sides and a buckle closure that you can see. That makes it quick to sort-of close when you have no time or available hands to actually buckle it, but that's not a very secure or tight closure, and Velcro will wear out from ripping the lid up off of it often.

Hi,

This is a new product (March 2011) and there were very few reviews when I bought it. I decided to make a somewhat longer video review (2 parts) which can be seen at YT search for 'kata LighTri 318 UL part 1' and 'kata LighTri 318 UL part2' The short version it's a well designed, well built bag if you are willing to pay. I will be using this bag for a trip to Vietnam in May so I'll try to update it after I get back. I suspect that the materials of the fabric are fairly high tech and perhaps I'm not giving enough credence to those features when talking about cost value. Also, the front and back 'pockets' are not large enough to carry all those extras that photographers seem to have. Let me know if you have any questions.

UPDATE 21/6/2011

After using this bag on my trip and several other times, I think it's the best one I've owned so far. Mostly due to its ease in putting it on and moving it around. I thought I might move my camera equipment out of it to my big Lowepro when I got back but instead I've made it my main bag to grab going out the door. I would make this a 4.5 stars if Amazon let me.

I have been using this bag for last 1 month now.I like it and I recommend it to anyone who has mine kind of tastes.

Its able to hold all my camera gear.Olympus E5, and lenses Zuiko 50-200 SWD, Zuiko 12-60 SWD, Zuiko 50mm,FL-36R Flash..etc. and some accessories like batteries and filters with out using the included small pouch.

It serves the purpose gracefully. It provides a very easy way to carry just your camera gear when you walk around snapping, and it provides very easy and fast access to all the gear too.It is perfectly engineered and of good build quality.when fully loaded in front position the bag sags a little to the front, but I think it has more to do with the way I am organizing the heavy things inside.

You will like this bag , if you are like me, not a fan of carrying around things like laptops, tablets, tripods..etc in/on those big heavy camera bags.

for long travels you can have another backpack that hangs behind holding all your personal stuff and electronics other than camera gear and put this on front carrying position. This has another advantage that the weight that you are carrying is more on a balanced way now.I haven't taken this on an plane trip yet but I assume it will be work out very easy if I use this bag, and I think this one is compact enough to fit under the front seat.

Another thing I like about it is the fact that the bag can serve as a hand support while in-front position. It will never be as firm as a tripod but it can really help getting a more stable shot.

I would have given it a 4.5 rating if it was possible. The only thing I didn't like about it was the pricing. It is priced a little above what 'I think' is worth paying for.I bought it used-like new for around 62$. I think around 90$-110$ would be a reasonable price for new. Don't worry about the pricing and go ahead and buy it if you are looking around for a bag with perfect build quality and with above said features.

roomy enough for my 7d with a 28-300mm lens attached plus a 10-22 mm lens plus a 580exII flash I don't need to haul around my big backpack all the time now. can be used as a torso or a sling bag very versatile.

Honest reviews on Kata KT UL-LT-318 Ultra-Light LighTri-318 Torso-Pack

This pack is decently well made and serves its function in a barely acceptable way. However, if you want to wear it as a slingpack and carry it mostly on your back (as advertised), you may develop lower back problems somewhere down the line. It will stick away from your back and distribute the weight in an unhealthy way putting pressure on your lower back by pulling on your shoulder away from your back. It is also larger than you would expect from looking at pictures and videos.

Carrying it on the front is only good for specialized work demanding maximum mobility with quick access to gear. You will not be walking around like this -it is large enough to obstruct the view of where you are going and make you look really stupid.

Putting stuff in and out of the bag is not problematic and you should have no problems with changing lenses. Unless of course you put something in the side pouch. It is notoriously difficult to open with one hand and that is how you will be operating it most of the time -the second hand will be holding the camera. You could put the camera away for a moment but the pouch is hard to reach with two hands due to the size of the pack. Across-the-chest camera straps are practically impossible to use with this pack -you cannot lift the camera high enough to exchange lenses because the camera strap will collide with the straps of the pack.

Finally, there is the price. This torso pack, like the rest of Kata's stuff, is way overpriced. I cannot agree with one of the other reviewers who says it is Ok to spend more just to get this pack. There is no logic to this statement; surely, anything can be bought for more than what it is worth, but that certainly does not justify Kata milking customers.

Pro: Great bag to carry a few DSLR pieces to your photo site (Nikon D600, tele-zoom, wide angle, flash, filters) when I don't need everything that's in the backpack.

Neutral: Neither comfortable nor uncomfortable to carry on a short hike. Needs to include some instruction on how to use the extra carry straps for other configurations. Even the mfg on-line videos don't help much.

Con: Cost I purchased before the price reduction and that was too much for this bag. With the reduced price I'm more toward neutral.

Recommendation: Neutral.

Love this camera bag! It's not too bulky, yet it protects my equipment. I was looking for a camera bag that I could use when taking the kids out to the zoo, beach...etc and this is perfect! I thought the price was pretty reasonable considering it's a Tamrac. Love it!

Tamrac makes great camera bags.

I got this because Amazon "recommended" it to me via my email and purchase history. Since it was on sale for 24 dollars.

It is quite small in space and really won't fit my full frame camera, Nikon D800E and any lenses of proportion. It is however ideal to carry my Lensbaby lenses, optics, and accessories. Just had to find the right use for it.

As far as "make" and quality would give it a 5. Ideal for mirrorless or point and shoot cameras.

This case is really nice. The case is actually a hard case and provides ample protection to the Sony Cyber Shot Camera. The camera and the case fit perfect together. The USB adapter will also fit in the case, but the electric charger will not. The case comes with a sturdy metal clip which is bolted to the case. The color is a light/soft pink similar to the color that you can buy the Sony Cyber Shot camera in.

I purchased this carrying case because it had a hook that you can attach to your belt loop, purse, or in my case my saddle for when I am riding my horses. The outer case is a medium hardness and offers good protection in the event you drop the case. I like the dual zipper closure as I can quickly and easily grab my camera out of the case in a moments notice. I bought this for the Sony Cybershot and the camera fits very well in the case (except for this next part...) I gave this case four stars because I cannot strap my camera into the case like I had wanted. There is a velcro strap that is supposed to wrap around the camera to hold it in place, and my camera is too thick (even though it's a fairly thin camera) for the strap to wrap all the way around and hold it securely. I just keep both sides zipped up and leave the top open and drop my camera in the pouch and it still works for me. The case is hard enough the camera is going to be protected either way. However I would like the added security of the strap, especially since this was advertised to fit my specific camera. It does have a small mesh pouch inside the case for an extra battery or a usb cord. Overall I am pretty satisfied.

If it were just a tad thicker, it would hold the extra battery and digital disks. As is, it is a snug fit just for the camera it professes to accommodate.
