Usually I keep all my gear in Ape Case Pro for Digital Slr Cameras Large Size By: Norazza which is a great case, but sometimes I just want to take the camera and lens for the day. This case fits my 5D Mark II (with attached battery grip) perfectly, even with theCanon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM Telephoto Zoom Lens for Canon SLR Cameras attached. I only gave it 4 stars in portability which is really not the product's fault it is still a large case but we who love battery grips and long lenses are prepared for that.

It has an adjustable velcro tab inside at the bottom to adjust for different length lenses. When carrying a long lens, I just take it out, but adjust it up for the EF 24-105 or shorter lenses, which leaves you a little space for maybe a nifty-fifty.

Build quality is great: well padded and repels water well. Shoulder strap is nicely padded and removable if you just want to use the handle. I've found it easier to take my camera with me more often since this is so easy to carry compared to my big gear case (much to the dismay of my co-workers). ;)

I also feel the price point isn't bad for what you get.

I use the Tamrac 5630 Pro Digital Zoom 10 Case with the S-500 Chest Harness on my backpacking trips. This system allows me to keep all my camera gear out of my backpack and on my chest where I can more easily and quickly access it. This saves room for more gear in my backpack and balances my pack weight towards the front. However, the S-500 chest harness (sold separately) doesn't have padding, so it can really wear on the shoulders after a day of hiking. I suggest finding padding if buying the S-500 harness as well.

Inside the main compartment of the Tamrac, I keep my D700 with a 50mm prime lens and a 70-300mm zoom lens, separated by a foam insert. I add a bit extra foam between the lenses to protect from jumps and falls.

On the sides, I keep an SB-600 flash in a separately purchased case, as well as a Garmin GPS inside another case. The GPS I hook up to my D700 to record latitude, longitude, and other positional data. The front pockets can fit cables, memory cards, and batteries.

I was recently caught in a sudden downpour wearing the Tamrac on my chest. I didn't want to risk the gear inside my backpack, so I walked for three hours in steady rain without protecting the Tamrac. By the time I got to shelter, my camera and lenses were damp, and the Tamrac was saturated. I did not expect the Tamrac to be waterproof, and knew that my gear could handle a little dampness. Luckily, water did not puddle inside the case, as this would have resulted in some problems. If rain is anticipated, I highly recommend stowing the Tamrac with camera gear inside a waterproof case.

My camera is heavy and I am, shall we say, not young anymore. Carrying something heavy over my shoulder can be painful after awhile. The total weight of this case and my current camera for my short excursions (4-6 hours walking around a town or scenic area, but not hiking) is around 6 pounds. With my previous shoulder bag (a Tamrac from 9 years ago) and a lighter camera, my collar-bone area would ache after a couple of hours, but recently with this new bag and heavier camera, I was fine for the 6-hour "walkabout" that my wife and I did. So, in short, I am pleased with it.

This case provides excellent camera protection, but I only gave it 4 stars because it is a little hard to get into in a hurry. The zippers are hidden under a rather stiff flap.

I've mostly used Tamrac bags for the last 35yrs and am very pleased with this bag.

I wanted a shoulder bag that could carry just my Nikon D90 with vertical/battery grip attached along with the long 70-300VR lens. This works with ease.

It also includes another pad which can adjust for shorter lenses.

I have been very pleased with this case. I use it for the Casio Exilim S10. It is very light weight and durable. It doesn't make the camera bulky, so I can easily put it in my purse. I like that it also has a hook on it, so I can attach it to a bag or belt loop.

I purchased this item for my Casio Exilim Z2000. It arrived earlier than the expected arrival date, and is as described. The camera fits into the case like a 'second skin.' One side of the case is padded for protection of the camera screen, I assume, as the camera lens has its own cover and retracts into the body of the camera. The case has the clip for attaching to a belt loop or strap, as well as a looped carry strap for hanging onto. To date the case is a good purchase, although it hasn't been tested 'in the field' on any hikes or extended use. It probably wouldn't protect the camera well from a hard fall, although that has never happened to date. For the price, it seems a good buy.

I have been searching for a bag that was like this for a long time and now that I have it I never want to be without it. the bottom section is a camera bag (the padding is very nice) with dividers that you can move around to your hearts content. the top portion while small is big enough to fit a sweater, some granola bars and miscellaneous small tools or perhaps more batteries and other camera equiptment. The pockets on the perimeter are functional; I put multitool screwdriver attachments in one, sd card wallet in another and have a third for whatever else. My only complaint and its minor is that it is not very breathable as the entire bag is pretty much all canvas so either wear a shirt with wicking material or don't use it on distigustingly warm days if you want to avoid feeling like a sponge.

As a professional photographer, I've been through my share of camera bags . . .but for an upcoming overseas trip, I needed something that wouldn't be cumbersome and will fit my equipment and iPad. Now, I have to admit, I was somewhat nervous about placing this order because it would be coming from Hong Kong, so I placed it in plenty of time to receive before my trip. I have tried a lot of camera bags, trying to find just the "right one". I have a Nikon D5000, with a 400mm lens, a 200mm lens, an 85mm lens, plus a lensbaby and a fisheye lens. I like to be able to take them all with me when I travel, so i have choices depending on where I am. This bag fits the camera and ALL the lenses in the bottom camera compartment. The velcro separators are great for setting it up for what I need. Plus the outside pockets on the bottom hold my camera user guide (sometimes I forget things :-)), a mini tripod, SD cards and the extra flash. This leaves the top part completely open for other things I may want to carry.

It's relatively lightweight, and I love the waterproof cover stashed at the bottom, in case it starts to rain. And to top it all off, it looks good; it has that worn, comfortable look and feel.

I've had quite a few bags, but this one tops then all. HIGHLY recommended.

I have never owned a camera bag as good as this one!! I love the look of it!!! I love how sturdy and tough the material feels and the ruggedness it appears. I ordered this bag to replace my old one. It wasn't that I was unhappy with my old one; I just wanted something that better suited my needs. This bag offers all that I need and more. I has a removable, padded compartment for all of your camera equipment. The best part is that when zippered up it is quite inconspicuous and no one would immediately think that there are hundreds or even thousands of dollars worth of camera equipment inside. It just looks like a traveler's backpack and that's what I like about it the most. The top compartment looks confusing with the buckles and all, but it's actually a clever snap design made for quick and easy access. It's enough to fit a light jacket and maybe some souvenirs. There's a neat hidden zipper pocket on the inside where you can keep your wallet or passport or other important documents such as boarding passes, hotel keys, etc... The front and side pockets are good for additional camera accessories, maybe some pens or pencils, and small electronics. As far as build quality goes, that will have to stand the test of time, but it appears to be well built with strong and rugged fabric. It's not waterproof, but you're in luck with the rain cover included in a zipper compartment on the bottom side of the bag. I would definitely suggest this bag as a great way of protecting your camera gear, in a way that's fashionable, practical, and doesn't scream "Hey, steal me! I have hundreds and hundreds of dollars worth of camera gear in here!"

The first three weeks of use, I loved this item. The interior was nice and gives good protection for my camera; also it has these padded divisions with Velcro that allows reorganizing the interior as I want or need for my camera and its accessories.

But as time went by the seams of some parts started to fail. Unfortunately now I cannot carry it by the little thing between the straps (one that I used to hang it). Also some of the compartments of the smaller pockets are unpicked as well.

Still it is a good item; I prefer this backpack instead of carrying the original canon bag, which can be inconvenient sometimes. Nevertheless if you are going to buy it, keep in mind that some parts will start unpicking.

.... I needed to protect my new DSC-P9. It comes with a belt loop and neckstrap. The case is hard enough to sustain bumps and other minor insults. The sides of the case are connected to each other with straps on the inside of the case, which stops the case from opening up completely so the camera won't slip out onto the ground accidentally while opening or closing the case. The case does not zip completely around, allowing a thin opening at the top protected by rubber lips so the carrying strap on the camera can protrude and be used while the camera is in the case. A small case with enough space for a spare battery and a memory stick may be attached with its velcro strap.

This case is so good that it makes DSC-P9 and similar Sony models worthy buy just to own this case. It fits the camera perfectly well and has a small case that can be attached to the strap to hold extra baterry or memory sticks. The zipper around the bag pulls out with a strap and is so convenient to operate if you have it on your waist belt. Inside of the bag there is another strap to prevent the case from completely opening apart that might cause the camera to fall down.

The case as a shiny finish to the hard material that can prevent you camera from damage when you drop it down.

The fit for the camera is snug, and it manages to provide the camera's body with adequate protection without being bulky. I love the side access. I love the small zippered and velcro pockets to keep my small stuff organized. I love that this pack includes a place for a 3L water bladder.

It's pretty comfortable to wear. Seems pretty durable. Distributes weight well.

I wish it didn't move around so much while I walk. I have not taken a long hike in this yet, but I'm a bit worried about all the friction. I'll make sure I wear a compression top to reduce the friction on my skin.

The things that need fixing on this bag to make it amazing:

1) The two zippers for the opening through which you access all your camera gear . . . well they get stuck very easily because there is a lot of extra loose fabric. No need for this. Just sloppy assembly.

2) The straps that hold your tripod. The buckles work, BUT the straps that are folded through the buckle loosen quickly and easily on their own.

3) The compartment where you keep all your camera gear is really deep. So while the gear is held in place firmly length and width wise, it falls all over the place because of the depth. I put in my D700 with the 70/200 lens on the side access. In the gear compartment I keep my 24/70 lens my 50 lens, my 910 flash, My filters and a case of 8 AA batteries. Sometimes when I open up the compartment, it's all mixed up. So I've resorted to stuffing in a jacket or something to fill the extra space.

Hope this helps. It's not perfect, but it's the best bag I've found for my needs hands down (long hikes, overnight camping, skiing and snowboarding).

I purchased the "Blue" version of this pack (on closeout on Amazon a few months ago for $236; I'm pretty sure I got a 2011 version of the bag, for what that is worth), and used it for a 7-day trek in Nepal. For me, it is the perfect travel and back-country pack, and will also get a lot of winter use backcountry skiing and snowboarding. There are only minor "con's" that might give anyone hesitation.

Pro:

1. Perfect size for airline carry-on. In multiple different sized aircraft, it fit in the overhead "bottom first" without having to turn it to take up the entire overhead bin. I almost bought the shorter Contrejour 35 out of fear of overhead bins, and I'm glad I went with the 40.

2. Protects gear very well. There are multiple layers of padding and other gear on almost all sides of the camera stuff. To fully open the camera gear compartment, you lay the bag on its back, which works well to give good access as well as keeping dirt and slop away from my glass. Another review complained about their gear moving around--I have to disagree with that complaint. The compartments are infinitely customizable, and can be made to snugly fit any kit if you are patient.

3. Easy to get my camera out. Unclick the chest strap and belt, swing off my right shoulder, unzip, shoot: 8 seconds without rushing. Unexpected bonus: while shooting with the bag still hanging from my left shoulder, my left elbow rests on the pack and helps to stabilize the camera (it's hard to describe in words, but is immediately obvious when you start shooting in the field).

4. Very comfortable for long hikes with up to about 30 lbs., even in summer-weight clothes. The shoulder straps have two adjustments each, and the belt is comfortable and intuitive/easy to adjust 1-handed as you go.

5. Holds a lot of other stuff. The internal compartments can hold quite a bit of non-camera gear inside the pack. The external attachment points allow the addition of a LOT of extra stuff.

6. Extremely well thought-out and well built. There are a lot of examples of this: the hydration compartment that drains past (not into) the camera gear compartment, well designed rain cover (large enough to fit over a full pack including an external tripod), the customizable gear compartment, the zipper holders, the large/durable/weather-sealed zippers, the accessory attachment points on the belt and shoulder straps, and the easily accessible webbed pouch on the right side (big enough for an oversized 1.5l water bottle; accessible without contorting your right arm).

Con:

1. Hydration bladder compartment is a little too small to fit a full 100 oz. (3l) bladder. It is possible to fit it, but it juts into your back a little bit. It is not unbearably uncomfortable, but I would probably only plan on having 50-70 oz in that location. As noted above, the webbed pouch is well-placed so that you can easily grab a water bottle from there with your right hand (with the pack on your back), and is large enough for an over-sized water bottle.

2. As noted in other reviews, the zipper used to access the camera is a bit stiff, at least on my bag. The stiffness lessened with repeated use, and was never bad enough that I actually tried to add any WD-40--it was just a minor inconvenience that is probably due to the extensive weather-sealing.

3. Limited to about 30 lbs for all-day summer use, maybe 40 lbs in the winter while wearing a few layers of clothes as waist padding. It can certainly carry a *lot* more weight; but, it doesn't have lumbar support or much padding on the belt, which would make it uncomfortable after a couple of hours. (I loaded it with almost 50 lbs for a 2-hour summer hike--I wasn't crying or bleeding at the end, but also knew that another 6 hours would have started to hurt.)

Overall, great travel and backcountry pack, big and comfortable enough for extended multi-day adventures.

I've bought and tested many bags for long (multiple days and nights) backpacking trips into the wilderness. The trick is to be able to carry all you photography gear, protect it, and still manage to carry all your must have camping gear. That said, I've always had to sacrifice on how many lens I can take and I've always had the lightest and smallest camping gear but never has a company come so close to making a bag able to carry so much. I give this four stars because Clik almost made it with this bag. I'm a big guy and carry a lot, so I wish they made a bigger version... then it would be 5 stars. The camera compartment is great, although when you cram a lot into the gear section, the gear does compress the camera section and even makes the velcro of the top section come loose. You can fit lots of clothes and even a small, super compressed sleeping back and tent into the out side gear pocket. Then I had to use an additional, large compression sack to place all my remaining gear then attached that large compression sack to the outside of the pack and used outside ski straps of the back to secure the compression sack. It did work, and worked quite well. However it did keep lots of the weight higher on the bag. My wish for the bag: two strong straps at the bottom of the bag to secure gear and for the bag itself to be taller and wider and to have a much larger gear section. All that said, I carry a lot of gear and food and once I figured out how to rig it, the bag did one hell of a job staying strong and getting me through a week in the CO high country. I highly recommend this bag!

I had the Obscura before this. That was a perfect bag in every way except that I had trouble fitting my Canon 5D mark ii through the camera inlet. This bag is quite big, and fits everything nicely. Even with my 10-400mm lens on, I can fit the camera easily. There is lots of space for one more small dslr, three lenses of medium size. You can put the filter wallet easily and also store your laptop/ultrabook easily with clothes. Its great build quality. There is nothing to not like. If you want a bag this big, look no further.

I have not used this bag yet, but it will be perfect for an upcoming wedding shoot, no more running back and forth to the car to switch lenses. This bag is not big and bulky, and will be easy to carry, it is not designed to hold a camera, just the lenses and that is exactly what I wanted, love it!

Love this product. Very classy, easy to carry and very durible. The only thing I don't like is, it doesn't allow you to really have a battery in it while the camera is in it.

It fits perfectly for the Nikon CoolPix L28!!!!!! The only negative is that it had a funny smell like cemicals !! But I put Dryer sheets in it and it helped !
