I have a Swiss Gear backpack that will hold a 15" laptop (it might hold a 17" laptop) that I carry to and from work and when I travel (domestic and international). I was tired of having a separate bag for my DSLR and started to research my options for consolidation.

I have a Crumpler Whickey and Cox large backpack and found its quality to be excellent so I started to look for another Crumpler bag to put inside the backpack. I was surprised to find that Crumpler made an insert and had trouble choosing between this sized insert and the larger Crumpler Haven.

If you have a small DSLR then this will be sufficient; I expect you'll be able to fit a flash, another lens and your body with lens attached.

If you have a medium DSLR you're going to be happy if all you need is what you'd like to carry around for a day: body with lens plus some accessories.

If you have a large DSLR forget it. This is too small.

I have a Nikon D7000, an 18-200mm lens, a 50mm lens, a plastic flash bounce, the battery charger, and several other small pieces in the bag. It's a tight fit but acceptable. I can stow everything in my backpack quickly and when I want the camera it is easy to remove and also easy to reinsert (a very important point). I also have a Nikon D80 and find that it fits even better because its slightly smaller.

I didn't give it the full 5 stars because of the price: $50.00 is about $10-$20 too much for what you are getting. Other than that the quality is excellent, the utility way up there. Its a perfect companion to someone who wants their camera but does not want a camera bag.

For someone who has way too many backpacks & duffel bags and doesn't tote along too much camera gear, this is the perfect solution. It protects my Canon T3i, lens, battery charger. and is slim enough to fit in to my existing bags. The outside pockets are not bulky and can fit the slimmer items including cables, lens caps, and memory cards. Why no one else has made anything similar to this after all these years is beyond me.

Purchased this so I could carry my Olympus OM-D E-M5 in my medium messenger bag and avoid using an obvious camera bag when traveling. It's well-made and does the job, but the top opening mechanism is better in concept than reality. A drawstring is relatively slow to open (and awkward to open with one hand), and it doesn't actually close all the way, so if you had small items in the you might worry about them falling out if the bag got inverted while in a suitcase, etc. The small pockets on the back of the bag are definitely handy for holding SD cards, a lens wipe, and spare battery and ensuring they come along if you move it to a different carrying bag.

If you have a micro-four thirds camera and 2-3 lenses, I recommend going with the medium. If you only want to carry maybe the camera with a lens and one other lens, you might be able to get away with the small. I found that the E-M5 with the accessory grip or a zoom lens attached was generally too large to use with the small so I had to upgrade to the medium if you have to jam the camera into the bag each time, it's too inconvenient to shoot out of.

One of the best ways to become a better photographer is practice, practice, practice. That means shooting a lot. And the easiest way to do that is by carrying your camera with you as often as possible. Adding a bulky (and obvious) camera bag to my daily slog made me less likely to take my camera with me. Thankfully there are companies like Crumpler making these excellent insert bags.

When traveling light I trust my D90 to be safe and always available in this bag. I can pack the D90 with kit lens (and hood) attached, a nifty 50, intervalometer, and extra memory cards, batteries, etc. in my backpack or sidebag and be able to get to it quickly without a lot of fuss. I've not had any issues with the drawstring, and it think it's a relatively elegant solution to the issue of securing the top of the bag but making it easy to get into. The brightly colored interior is pleasing to look at (not neon) AND helpful for seeing into the bottom of the bag for runaway lens caps and odds and ends.

The outside pockets are super handy for the little stuff, keeping them secured snugly against the side of the bag. The bag itself is light, but remarkably well padded.

If I was packing a full set up with a big zoom lens, flash, etc, I'd probably choose a dedicated camera bag (who am I kidding: a larger Crumpler Haven in my Timbukt2 Messenger) but for short trips this fits in my lumbar pack, or a large purse.

Thanks to Stephen, for confirming that the medium bag can hold a Nikon D7100 with the 18-200mm lens attached, I went ahead and purchased the medium. He's right, it can work, but it is a very tight fit: however hard I pull the drawstrings there is still a small gap in the center, and right below that gap is the screen of my new camera. So, a camera in this bag is not exactly completely protected from the elements... The material is high quality, and although I haven't tested it I'm sure it is waterproof, but that is only worthwhile if you plan to set it down in a puddle (OK, I really meant damp grass). I need protection from rain that falls from above, and here's the problem... that little hole. The material protects the camera, but the construction of the bag precludes protection because of that little hole left in the center of the drawstring. Now, I know that shouldn't really matter, after all the intention is to toss this liner into another bag, but when I see the screen of my new d7100 just below the surface I feel that this is not the perfect solution for me. What might make it perfect is if there was a protective flap... So, I'm considering keeping the sac if I can convince myself that I can somehow attach a large microfiber cloth to act as a protective flap for my screen... perhaps I can secure it between the Velcro for the custom spacers, or maybe I could just sew one in... If anyone has ideas, or if Crumpler reviews our reviews then there may be a perfect solution in the making! Needless to say, this would all be irrelevant if I wasn't already impressed with the materials and general construction. If your camera is smaller than the D7100 or you use a shorter lens I highly recommend this insert bag.

I have the Sony RX100 and NEX-7 and both have a small ring for attaching the wrist band. The Peak Design straps don't fit either camera, so make sure that you check your camera first.

They do fit on my Canon 6D, though. But I already have another wrist band there (cheaper and better feel, by the way).

The band is light and feels ok. The system is easy to attach and remove (why would I do that?) but makes me feel insecure. OK for my small cameras, but I would not dare dangling my 6D with a large lense from it (no matter what the spec says). The band is attached only by a small peace of plastic and too easily removed for my personal taste.

I've used several different wrist straps for various cameras and have been disappointed by all ... except for this one. Peak Design has a real winner, here.

As the other reviewer mentioned, the robust connecting cord may not work on some tiny strap lugs, but I've used it on several Sony Nex cameras, an RX1, Lumix GX1, and OM-D E-M5. It's plastic so it shouldn't mar your camera, and has strong connecting cords. Plus, it's easy to connect/disconnect one-handed. The other thing I like is the similarly designed neck strap that uses the same connecting system so it's easy to switch back and forth.

Finally, I like that the connectors use a "fail safe" design.

Highly Recommended.

I used this at first with my Nikon D3000, as is, and the straps are a little too lose even when you wind them through the plastic things like your supposed to. One slipped out and it made me nervous, So I compared them to the clips from my stock strap, and the ones that came with my camera are a little grippier and hold better, so i just switched out all the plastic pieces and now its secure and works just fine. So cute, I love it, great way to make your camera be just a little different from everyone else's.

A few months ago I purchased the Clik Elite Pro CE406GR Back Pack with Click Stand (Gray). This pack has a huge capacity for camera gear and provides a very comfortable way to carry a heavy load. I carry a large DSLR and several pro lenses and substantial tripod. The pack gives the capacity I need and workspace that keeps my gear and the pack out of the dirt in the field.

One feature that the pack offers is the capability to snap in a chest pack that holds a camera body and lens. The clips are integrated into the pack straps and waist belt. I decided to order this chest pack to use with my pack.

The chest pack came and it's great lots of room for a pro-body DSLR with battery grip, 70-200mm f/2.8, and even my Really Right Stuff L-bracket. It comes with a harness, strap, and built-in rain cover. There's room in the cover for memory cards, batteries, maybe a couple filters, your keys, stuff like that. There are pockets on the side that would probably be good for maps, or thin stuff like that.

Now there's one little thing this is the new-for-2011 chest pack with some new features (the built-in rain cover), but unfortunately the clips are not compatible with the back pack I listed above Clik Elite Pro CE406GR Back Pack with Click Stand (Gray). (Clik Elite provide a retrofit set of clips)... But if you want to get the features I described and attach the chest pack to the back pack without a retrofit kit, you need to get the 2010 version of the chest pack Clik Elite CE511GR SLR Telephoto Chest Pack (Gray) it's basically the same chest pack, but with slightly different harness, strap, and clips compatible with the back pack. The 2010 version of the chest pack does not have the built-in rain cover, so you'd need to pick up a little one here or there Camelbak Tactical Rain Cover

The chest pack is very large. My 12 year-old son told me he wasn't going anywhere near me when I have it on it looks like a baby carrier. But strange looks aside, I have been alone in the wilderness with my pro-DSLR around my neck with the 70-200 and fallen on the rocks. I got lucky and saved the camera and lens from damage, but it was too close for comfort. This case provides protection from that kind of accident, and gets the weight off your neck. With the camera in a chest pack, it's a lot more accessible for shooting than if it's in the back pack. So I may look a little strange, but given that I am going deep in the woods when I use this, there's probably not going to be too many people that see me anyway. And if I lose my balance, there's a good chance the camera isn't going to get destroyed...

I use Olympus 4/3'rds equipment. My E-5 with HLD-4 battery holder along with my ZD 35-100 (70-200 equivalent in 35mm terms) mm f 2.0 lens fit inside this case with the lens hood (reversed) with little difficulty; the fit is a bit easier without the lens hood on the lens. In addition, my Olympus ZD 300mm (600mm equiv.) f2.8 lens will also fit in the bag (begrudingly), without the lens hood and without the camera attached, this is good for me as I do not like the lens swinging around in its supplied case while hiking Blue Ridge/Skyline Drive. In both instances above there is no way I could have my EC-14 (1.4X) teleconverter attached; also, tripod ring was attached to both lenses.

The pack is comfortable even with the heavy 300mm f2.8 lens in it. I also like that the pack can be attached to my QE backpack via the ports built into the shoulder straps, I have the 2010 Escape backpack. With this pack I will have fewer worries of my $$$ lenses hitting a rock or tree and being damanged.

I bought this case for my wife's point and shoot Canon and it has worked out perfectly after more than one year of use. Alright, this is hands down the best bag of it's size and function I have ever seen. I had bought this bag, and after my longtime camera broke, I gave it to a friend of mine. When I got a new camera, I figured I'd get another bag. When I went shopping again for a bag, I realized what a treasure this Canon bag was, and I had a hard time tracking it back down!

First off, I want to start with this brought forward, "for it's size and function." This bag is not big enough for all your toys. I chose it from the shelf of a camera store because I wanted a bag as small as possible that would hold my limited camera setup, so I could bring everything with me without having to "pack", but small enough to actually carry around all day and not have it be in the way all the time. It's roughly the same size as a woman's purse (though a little squarer in shape). That said, I currently carry in it:

Nikon D200 body (with protective rubber body, which makes it a little bulkier)

Attached 18-200mm lens with hood

SB-600 speedlight

2 extra batteries

battery charger and cord

usb cord and card reader

video cord for plugging into RCA input

remote trigger and reciever

extra memory card

lens cleaning cloths and a tiny LED flashlight (about 3" long)

a pez dispenser for plugging into the hotshoe (makes the kiddies smile) and extra pez

This makes it crowded enough to make it hard to get the camera in/out quickly, but fits everything for quick pick-up and carry. That said, taking the cords, pez, batteries, charger and extra CF card and putting them in a small pouch that hangs on the strap makes sufficient room to easily access everything else very easily. To me, the size is just right, but size is not why this bag rocks!

I ride offroad motorcycles and frequently take the camera with me. Off course, I'm concerned about it banging around or crashing and getting broken. This bag relieves this concern in several fundemental ways that I have yet to see on another bag.

First, look at the hardware. IT'S MADE OF METAL. the clips, zipper, hooks, NO PLASTIC. The hook at each end of the strap is a rotating clip. The way it's designed makes it so that you cannot apply stress to the clips just by twisting, so they last a lot longer. Plus, the spring loaded clip is shaped such that it's nearly impossible to accidentally unclip them, but very easy if you want to.

Second, look at the stitching. The solid metal ring on the bag that the strap clips to is inserted into nylon that is stitched all the way down the side of the bag and into the bottom. There six inches of stitching holding the strap on, and it's all visible. Even the top handle is totally solid, I never worry about the strap coming loose, or breaking suddenly. The ones I was seeing in the store, were plastic clips, attached to 1/4" wide strap

that had 1/2" of stitching holding it in. On other bags, in an environment where the bag is undergoing some motion, those clips could break, the stitching could come out, or the strap that the clip is attached to could break all in an instant without any sign of wear. With this bag, I can see how close anything is to breaking.

Third, and I can't believe this is not touted in the item description, there is another strap on this bag! You can fold it back, tuck it inside a pouch in the back so that most of the time, the bag is just a regular shoulder strap orientation, but you can pull out this second strap that goes around your waist. Once again, the hardware on the second strap is high quality. On the motorcycle, this relieves most pressure from the shoulder strap, since it's really strapped tightly around my waist. No bouncing around at all. However, extreme environments aside, when I'm just walking around town shooting, I take out the second strap, tie the bag to my back essentially, and it's not constantly in the way swinging around, I don't even notice it. In addition, with the extra strap, my shoulders don't get as tired walking around with a heavy camera for a long time from a single shoulder strap.

Finally, and no one got a picture of this, there are plastic runners on the bottom of the bag, so as it's used, picked up, put down, dragged around, whatever, it's not wearing a hole in the bottom of the bag.

All in all, I was impressed at the quality in this bag when I first got it. When I start looking at other name brand bags that are supposed to do the same thing, I am amazed at the lack of quality in some of the most fundamental areas. If this bag ever wears out, I will seek out another one just like it again and again until someone else starts meeting some of the basic needs of an outdoor photographer.

A well made bag, but the description is misleading....It reads "Waterproof bag holds 1-2 cameras and 3-4 lenses with room for accessories". You could possibly hold four small or medium lenses, without anything else and NO accessories. You could carry two camera bodies and some film but NO lenses. But there is no way to put two bodies, and 3-4 of the smallest lenses without removing all the padding and dividers Then you'd might as well throw them all in a plastic sack and save your money.



I bought this for a Digital Rebel and regular lens a flash and one telephoto lens and two batteries. It is busting at the seams, and I have ordered the battery pack/grip to go onto the bottom of the camera so I'll probably have to reorder a larger one.

If you want a good looking canon bag that is small and compact, you'll like it, and it is well made and worth the current cost, just remember it is smaller than the description would lead you to believe.....

I love the bag for all the reasons others did not like it. The product is listed as a gadget bag and that is what it is good at. The S2 IS is a large camera for a point and shoot and it fits in very few bags. This bag fit the camera easily and had space for all types of extras including batteries, chargers and extra media cards. There is also enough room for another small digital camera or a film point and shoot.

The correct way to advertise this case would have been for up to two bodies or four small lens. Given that limitation, this is a great bag.

The bag is very well made and holds my Canon Powershot S2 IS very securely. I lay the camera on it's back and that means that even if I accidently power it on the lens opens harmlessly. The material is great and the waist belt is very practical. The strap is well padded and after a day of use I believe it is one of the most comfortable straps I have used.

Buy this bag for the correct camera and you will be very happy with it.

I bought the 100EG for my Canon EOS-10D with a Canon 28-135mm IS lens and a Canon 420EX flash. My camera with the lens attached BARELY fits in the bag, and only after all the dividers are removed. A longer zoom wouldn't have fitted, period. Very dissapointed with the "1-2 camera bodies, 3-4 lensees, "AND" accessories" claim. Sure, if you own toy cameras. What's the point of removing the dividers? As far my setup, this bag is only good for 1 body and 1 small/medium lens, NOTHING else (as far as camera components), not even my Canon 420EX flash. Also, the waist strap is annoying since it pretty much useless and CAN'T be removed. I do, however, like the build quality and looks. I am going to gamble on the 10EG and HOPE to get ONE camera body, TWO lenses, and ONE flash in it. You'd think Canon would know how many of their OWN components could fit in their own bag!!! It's too bad Canon doesn't post more views of this bag with an example camera and lenses inside.

I'm the amateur photographer, and for my needs, this camera bag is perfect! It securely holds my Canon Rebel 2000, and has room for two lenses. The dividers in the main compartment are well padded, and they fold over, I suppose for extra padding, or for protection on top. The bag also has a zipper pouch in each of its front and top compartments, for holding little extras like film, wallet, etc. Being an amateur, film, my camera, and a lens or two is all I need to take pictures, a professional might desire a larger bag that can hold more items.

The bag is good looking, and has a nice solid construction, the material feels as if it will hold up to years of use. The details in this bag really impressed me. It has two plastic feet on the bottom for added stability, the clips and rings are all made of black metal, rather than plastic, it has a nicely hidden strap to convert it into a waist pack (though I find it a bit bulky to wear that way), the bottom padding is removable and is hard sided for extra protection. Altogether, this is a great bag for the cost, and I'm sure it'll come in handy for carrying things besides my camera.

I got this case for my Canon PowerShot SD960 about a year ago. It's a perfect fit and provides superb protection. It's well padded, and has a foam type liner with little bumps to provide additional protection if dropped. Overall, it's very nicely padded. It is very well made with a good material, and the zip opening is on the long side (rather than on the top like some cases), extending a bit down each of the short sides to provide a good sized opening to remove or replace the camera. The zipper pull is nice and solid, with a slightly larger knob at the end which can be grasped easily for zipping or unzipping. Above all, with a zip type case, it's critical that the zipper work smoothly and without catching on anything, and be up to the task of surviving a lot of use without falling apart. This case fits the bill....the zipper is nylon and zips easily and smoothly from one end to the other. The case looks as new and the zipper works just as well as it did a year ago when I bought it. I'll add that I've carried this around a lot in my purse and opened it a LOT. So I'm impressed with the quality.

The wrist strap is has a little hook which makes it easily removable if you wish to not use it. The hook ring on the case itself could probably accommodate a thin type hook to attach it to your belt or whatever you want to hook it to. The back part of the case has a strong, thick nylon strap attached in the side seams which would allow your belt to pass thru it to wear on your belt, with the zipper at the top for easy camera removal as you wear it.

Any small camera roughly the size of the SD960 would fit perfectly in this case. My camera fits tightly enough that it doesn't move around, yet it's easy to slip the camera with its wrist strap into the case. I plan to buy the Canon S95 soon and I hope it will also fit in this case. If so, I will buy another one as I like it better than any of the other small cases I've seen in the stores.

I got my case at BBuy for $14.99 plus tax. This one on Amazon is cheaper, but the shipping brings it to roughly the same price as BB, so not a big savings here unfortunately.

I bought this to accompany my Panasonic Lumix DMC-FH20 which it is adverstised for on amazon. When it arrived I was disappointed with the overall quality of the materials. It looks cheap! There is a velcro strap to hold the camera in place inside which with this particular camera positions it halfway over the lens and also over the flash. It is definately not a great fit for this particular make of camera...and shouldn't be advertised as such.

This product almost works for the camera intended and comes close enough for my purposes. It's a very tight squeeze to get the camera in and the case zipped closed. I found it works much better if you hang the camera strap out the top middle and zip the two sides up to it. It is very pretty, is a good aesthetic match to my camera and I feel it's doing it job to protect my camera. It doesn't add so much bulk so as to prevent me from carrying it in my moderate purse at all times. When the camera is out, I leave the case unzipped and half in, half out of my purse so it serves as a reminder to not leave my camera behind. This has saved my bacon many times. :]

PS. With use, the zipper cloth relaxes and it has become easy peasy to zip this case closed...with strap out of course.

I'm not sure what I was expecting, but this case, despite quality construction, is awkward to squeeze my Canon 20D into and offers no real protection from the elements. If it were $10 I wouldn't complain, but I just bought the Tamrac 5684 Digital SLR camera case for $10 LESS and that action has a badillion pockets and seals my SLR away in a shock absorbent foam vault. I'm about to return the case/cover above right now.

Camera fits very well with a EF-S17-85mm f/4-5.6 IS USM lens or bigger. Edges are well stitched -price seems reasonable given the quality of construction. Yes, made in China, but so are a lot of items. My only complaint is that I would have liked a case that would allow me to use the camera without having to take the camera all the way out of the case. I've heard that after market case makers make such an item.

It's better than ok, will protect the camera with a short lens avoiding carrying a larger bag for short shooting sessions. It is NOT cowhide and will NOT accomodate a large telephoto. I carry it in my backpack. It's easy to use and user friendly. If you do NOT want to carry a larger camera bag and have the standard lens, it works better than many cases. It has snaps and velcro holding it together. Most of all it protects the camera and lens.

The Canon case is just what you would expect. It fits the camera/lens well; appears to be well constructed; it's reasonably easy to use (take on and off). It does the basic things needed.

Im new to the videography/photography world and have been buying up alot of equipment the past few months and let me say this little kit is a MUST HAVE.

The hand grip takes some time to get just right for you, but once you get it settled its fantastic as far as grip and versatility when filming. It also has a built in screw opening at the bottom as you can see in the picture which enables you to keep the grip on while mounting it to a tripod. It lets the tripod get in there pretty tight if i may say so, so dont worry about sway or breaking the plastic since its VERY thick and durable.

The lens holders are also fantastic; I stuck one on my 40mm and its on there pretty firm.. I then wrapped the thick part of the holder around the base of my lens and its yet to fall off.

*UPDATE* So its now September. I bought this product in February this year and the glue on the lens holder just gave away.. At a wedding nonetheless lol. I'd still say for the price this is a GREAT product, if not only for the grip itself.. But be prepared to replace your holders every 6 months or so.

Havent tried the table lense holder yet. It is very thick and soft so I can only imagine it would do a great job.

As I said, buy with confidence!

My new Canon t4i arrived without a lens cap string and within the first few uses, I found myself misplacing the lens cap, which can be a big problem for camera users. The sticky part of the lens cap string is secure and stays on even with a few tugs. The string can attach to the camera strap hinge easily, but with my particular camera and lens (58mm), its a little too taught, but keeps the lens cap secure on the lens.

The Stabilizing Hand Grip works great and attaches to the bottom bolt port where a tripod normally screws in. This product greatly helps with holding the camera and helping to keep your grip from weakening during long shooting sessions. The strap easily adjusts to fit my hand as well.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program Incredibly well padded, inside and out, and very comfortable because of the padding on the adjustable waist straps, this "Field Station" by Lowepro is also very sturdy looking, and I would imagine very waterproof too. It will keep your binoculars/camera protected (an adjustable insert for this is inside, kept in place with Velcro and easily removable if you wish. Also room for the field guidebook, etc. There is even an insert that can be used as a "table." A zippered compartment inside for valuables (it's about the length/depth of a dollar bill, so credit card/license/cash would fit OK) and there's another zippered compartment on the outside, this one quite a bit roomier. A mesh covered pocket on one side of the bag would fit your pens, etc., and another without a cover on the other side would hold a water bottle.

It's a nice dark olive green and if I have a complaint, is that it's not as versatile as I would have hoped. It would be even nicer if somehow the waist straps were removable and a shoulder strap could be added, making this more of a multi-purpose item. But I quibble! Birders will love this bag, and by its sturdiness, it looks like it could last them a very long time.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program I've been a birder since 1978. I have a Lowepro camera bag, so when I saw this on Vine I thought it would be a good thing... it is. As with my other Lowepro, the construction cannot be faulted. It's sturdy, comfortable to wear, ergonomic, and the overall space is adaptable to varying book and binocular sizes via Velcro fasteners. I easily fit my Fujinon 7x50 Polaris F-SX Marine Waterproof Binoculars w/ comfort strap, Fujinon 7x50 7107502 if I remove the Quick Shelf, but they're heavy and I use them for astronomy, and the quick odd bird I might want to see out the back door. My Nikon 7496 Eagleview Zoom 8-24 X 25mm Binoculars (Black) fit well into the binocular pouch, and I can add a book (or 2) and keep the Quick Shelf installed. I do not (yet) see the use for the quick shelf (but don't tell my wife! I'm using this as a justification for getting an iPad ;-}

Like I said, this is a Lowepro in quality and convenience, but definitely a niche product. Other Lowepro packs will do as well.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program The Lowepro Field Station Beltpack is a pretty well designed belt case designed for bird watchers, hikers or travelers who want to carry small binoculars or a small camera and an iPad or field guide but don't want to carry a backpack or shoulder bag.

The Field Station Beltpack is about as large as you would want a belt pack to be; any larger and it will feel like it's going to fall or pull your pants down, but if it was smaller it wouldn't hold a small camera (point and shoot or small mirrorless camera like an Olympus E-P3 or Sony NEX-5N with pancake lens) or small binoculars and an iPad.

The ballistic nylon is thick and durable with plenty of padding material inside to keep the pack contents safe from bumps or even a fall. The "Quick Shelf" isn't a horrible idea but I didn't find it all that practical in real-world use. Yes, if you need to write something in a field journal then the Quick Shelf will come in handy. However, if you don't need a surface for writing then the Quick Shelf just takes up space in the bag.

On a brighter note, the Quick Shelf does provide a little extra protection/padding for an iPad so it's not a horrible thing ... it's just that I found myself wanting "a little" extra space inside the beltpack and I would have had the extra space without the Quick Shelf.

The breathable padding on the back side (body side) of the beltpack is VERY comfortable and the padding extends around part of the belt as well. If you're planning an all-day hike then this beltpack shouldn't cause you any trouble. That said, some serious hikers might wish this pack came with suspenders to help keep the belt from sliding down during an all-day journey.

Bottom line, it's good for its intended use but isn't the best "general use" bag for a camera and iPad.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program I've used a Lowepro shoulder bag for my last few cameras. That's over 8 years. They've gotten dirty but are still functionally in great condition. This bag shows the same quality in materials and construction. If you want padded iPad and binocular carrying system, this works well. That said, I think it's a bit over-designed. For one thing, there's a padded binocular section inside the pack. That's a nice idea. However, enthusiast quality binoculars are generally very rugged and waterproof. I imagine that people willing to spend the money for this probably have binoculars as least as rugged as my Eagle Optics Ranger ED 8x42 Roof Prism Binoculars RGR-4208-ED model. Anyway, the padded compartment is attached with velcro and I removed it. That gave me enough extra room to include a lightweight poncho in the bag.

The other part I removed was the special iPad holder. It allows you to put an iPad in the pack and attach it in such a way that you can use the holder as a third hand to support the tablet at waist level, in view. The holder seems solid but the angle that it keeps the iPad is one I find awkward. It also holds the iPad just farther away than my bifocals focus well. Again, that's attached with velcro and can be removed, leaving a padded tablet compartment. If you have an Android tablet, the holder probably won't fit well anyway. Using an iPad as a field book is a great option. There are good quality bird guides especially the Peterson Guide app and the iBird app, as well as travel guides. I have several Kindle guides on my iPad. Having a whole reference library in the field is wonderful.

Bottom line is that you could get a decent fanny pack and add a padded iPad sleeve for half what this costs. It wouldn't be as elegant, but easily as functional.
