This line of cases are very well made....well padded, well designed. The model 5501 is similar but a few inches shorter and half the price. I have the 5501 and it fits my gear perfectly BUT....my Nikon 55-300 lens won't fit if mounted to the body. This case will do that....so I will have to get this one. Cords, extra battery,extra memory and filters all fit in the front compartment. If in doubt at all about the size difference between the two models, go for this slightly bigger one.

One of my concerns with shopping online is not being sure of the dimensions of the bag even though it has product information. The feel of the material and how its put together is something you can't discern from reading a description so I did a lot of shopping around for a camera bag in stores. I saw this one in the store and compared prices and it turns out it was $10 less from amazon.

I am very pleased with the bag. It met all my requirements with durability, versatility and the compartments adjustments just fit my camera and lenses perfectly. It is also very easy to carry around and have a quick access to change lenses or something.

I like how it has padding on both the top and bottom. I feel that my camera is well-insulated from all 6 sides. I also like how the top flap has both a zipper and a buckle closure for added security. (I also own a Tamrac Adventure Messenger 3, which has neither padding on the top flap nor a zipper closure.) I do not have a grip on my camera, so the depth is more than plenty. I keep the hood on my Canon 24-105 lens reversed, and I have at least an inch of room at the top of the bag to spare. It's a very well-built bag. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is that the bag looks bulky when I carry it around (I am only 5'1"). I don't think I'd use it if I were traveling or walking around town, but for toting my expensive gear in a car and going to, say, a party, wedding, etc. in town, it's great. I think when I travel or have to walk around all day outside, I will look for something more discreet that doesn't scream "I'm carrying around an expensive camera".

I've owned several camera bags including bags made by Domke, Lowepro and Olympus. The Tamrac Explorer 400 is by far my favorite bag. The padded shoulder strap, detachable raincover and padded compartments are all great, but what I especially love are all the handy pockets! The pocket in the top cover is especially handy for storing lens caps, microfiber cloths, etc. I also like the extra security of the inner zipper under the ample top cover. The only feature I do not like is the quick-release buckle, which is harder to open and close than the quick-release buckles on my older Tamrac Zoom Traveler 6 bag.

In terms of capacity, I usually carry either my Sony A57 or my larger Sony A700 with vertical grip attached and my CZ 16-80 zoom lens mounted on the camera, a Sony F43 flash, 2-3 extra lenses ranging in size from my Sony 35/1.8 to my Minolta 100-400 APO zoom, a handful of filters, an RF remote shutter release, a small battery charger, and extra battery, extra memory cards, a couple Lens Pens, a Rainsleeve, a Lumiquest SoftScreen pop-up flash diffuser, and either my LumiQuest SoftBox or my LumiQuest ProMax System. There is also room for a small notebook or manual in the back pocket.

I was wanting a small case that could easily fit in my purse, but was colorful as well and I found it here. It's a soft case and doesn't have a ton of padding, but it definitely does it's job of protecting the screen from scratches.

I got the green case, and while it's called "neon," it's more of a light lime green so don't worry about it being super blinding.

I do like the outside pouch for holding an extra battery or memory card, but I would definitely check the measurements on your camera before purchasing this case. (I guess I'm at fault for not doing the same for my own!)

I bought this case for my new Cybershot H20. Although it isn't designed for this model, the camera fits securely (it's very snug), and the case is less bulky than the one designed for the H-series cameras. (I think the H20 is the smallest of them).

There isn't any room for the cables and charger, but you can fit memory sticks and a spare battery in the front pouches.

I looked all around for a small case for my High Def camcorder. I have the Sony HDR-CX100. (Great camcorder BTW). The problem with all cases that are intended to fit the camcorder is that they are too big. I can't understand why you would go to the trouble of getting a small camcorder and then put it in a large camera case/bag !! The irony is that all the reviews for cases that are designed for the smaller camcorders gripe that those very cases are too small !! THEY ARE HUGE !! I got the Sony LCM-AX1 --it is HUGE !! I tried the Sony LCS-SRC ---again --humongous !! The premise is all wrong...All I want is a case that protects my camera and allows me to benefit from the small camera. Simple concept. I dream of a day when someone designs a hard clam shell form fitted case like a guitar case for these small camera's. Wouldn't that be great !!! But no no no none are available. (I feel better now I'm vented).

Now this case works but it is crammed in there like a fat man in a pair of biker shorts. Not a pretty site. But just like the fat man after a 5 mile ride it works. Also it will only work with the small regular sized battery that comes with the camcorder there is no room for a bigger battery to fit.

I ordered this case for my Sony Cybershot camera. Either I didn't read the product description correctly or it didn't talk about all of the pockets in this case. Anyway the camera pocket had more than enough room for the camera. I can even include the battery charger in there if I wanted. The other two pockets can hold the battery and any additional memory that I want to have. I like the fact that I can use the shoulder strap or attach it to my belt. This was an excellent deal.

This is a well thought out bag. It will be fine, if you only carry what is truly nec. I found it after extensive research on review sites, and reading through forums. We love it, it is very strong and durable. No cheap zippers, only heavy well built material is included.

You can rearrange the dividers as needed, and it has numerous pouches for sd cards, batteries, and such. Also the built in weather cover is great, simple and functional.

Skip the backpacks and go with what is probably the last brand of bags that we will buy.

I bought this waist pack on the recommendation of blogger Ken Rockwell, whom I closely follow and generally agree with. However, I don't share Ken's passion for this case. It might be perfect for an advanced mirrorless kit, such as a Sony Nex 7 or Leica M, but it's too small for the DSLR I carry on hiking trips.

The manufacturer claims this case "carries one standard size DSLR plus 2-3 small zoom or prime lenses." Well, maybe, but not with the convenience I prefer.

I bought this case to carry a Canon 6D with a 28-135 mm zoom lens (mounted, with hood), a 100mm macro auxiliary lens (with hood), a small flash, cleaning supplies, and a few filters. I consider the 6D to be a "standard size DSLR." It's slightly smaller than a Canon 5D. Both lenses are what I consider to be small. Yet this equipment just barely fits in this case -and not in the ready-to-shoot configuration I need.

Four times out of five, the lens I want when I pull out my camera is my zoom. But this case is too small to comfortably carry my camera with the zoom installed. The main compartment just isn't deep enough. So I have to mount a smaller lens to the body and store my zoom separately. This means that four times out of five when using this case,I have to change lenses before I can get to work and reverse the process when I'm done.

Admittedly, against Ken's advice, I use rigid lens hoods, which are bulky and take up a lot of space when deployed. But even with the hoods reversed, my camera and just TWO lenses are a very tight fit in this case. Too tight for easy use.

Aside from the size, however, this is a great case. It's built like a tank (no pun intended) and has a lot of nice, practical features for working photographers. I just have to wonder what "standard DSLR" this case was designed for.

Its very hard to judge whether the depth of a camera bag will work out for "lens on" carrying without trying it. This one is fine for a nikon D600 plus a short telephoto (say 25-80) or non-pro primes of 200 mm or less. It could even take the 70-300. It was a couple inches short for the new 70-200 f4, either mounted or dismounted. I'm waiting to hear from thinktank of the speed freak will be more suitably sized for my needs.

The rest of the attributes of the bag are great, especially its ability to take more modulus components. It just was not quite sized right for me.

A "zoom lens"? You're kidding! Well, again, it was my mistake to not research the meaning of "standard DSLR". This probably refers to a consumer camera and lens from Panasonic, Sony, etc.

I got this case to hold my Panasonic Lumix DSLR DMC-G3. The case is a perfect size for the camera and accessories (although I am not carrying any additional lenses which would be a challenge). The case also has nice storage for the battery charger and an additional battery, as well as additional memory cards. My only complaint about the case is that the strap is quite slippery and wants to slip off my shoulder.

I researched camera bags that are also "backpacks" or day-trip bags for a long time before purchasing; I never saw a review for this particular bag anywhere online, so I felt I needed to leave a review for anyone else considering it. What I needed was a bag that would securely hold my camera (Canon Rebel T2i) but that didn't look like a "camera bag" (for safety reasons), that has space for personal items (water bottle, snack, guidebook, wallet, etc.), that was comfortable to wear for hours at a time, and that fit me and felt secure (so it wouldn't be stolen off of me). Overall, I am very happy with this bag. My camera does not move or shift in the padded space. The bag does not look like a traditional "camera bag"; the attractive rust-orange color helps with that, as does the slimmer size. There is a side mesh pocket for a water bottle, though my taller bottle fell out a couple times while taking the bag on and off; I was able to fit a small guidebook, map, snack, passport, and tissue pack in the personal space area at top with no trouble (and still had room in the dedicated camera-area, as I did not travel with extra camera accessories). The strap is nicely padded and comfortable. The length and width of this bag was perfect for me to wear (I'm 5'3"; similar bags by Vanguard and other makers seemed too long when I measured them for me). This bag has an additional narrow strap that can be buckled into the one padded strap for extra security; I used this strap often while traveling through crowded Barcelona and on the metro. Additionally, I really like how this bag swings around so I can access the camera; this is easy enough to do (I'm right-handed) and I primarily use this side zipper to get at the camera, as opposed to the front pocket (which is very securely closed and buckled). I don't think the bag is completely water-proof; after being in the rain for about an hour or so there was some minor wetness to the guidebook in the top personal space area, though not in the dedicated camera space.

I love this pack. I wanted something that I could access without removing, so a backpack was out. The messenger bag gets old carrying after a while. A waist pack is too small and looks silly. So a sling pack was perfect.

I researched a lot and tried a couple on that I could find local before ordering this one. I'm glad I picked this one. Size-wise its in-between the small and medium lowepro slings so its a good compromise if you can't decide between those two.

It holds snug enough on my body that when walking it doesn't bounce around. I love being able to swing it around and pull the camera out quickly, it takes less than 5 seconds if you rush but not much more taking your time. If I have to I can swap lenses without taking it off too, but I prefer to set it down to perform this just in case.

Inside it has more than enough room for my Nikon D5100, attached lens, 2 extra lens, and accessories. The dividers are movable and removable so I can rearrange the compartments if needed.

A big factor as to why I chose this bag over the others was the pack doesn't scream "I have a nice expensive camera inside" to the casual observer. It looks just like a day pack that could hold anything. Also the excess fabric from the straps is contained with velcro and elastic which is nice.

If I could add one thing it would be tripod straps, but I knew it didn't have them when I ordered it, so I'll live. I can add them if I need to.

Overall this is the best accessory for my camera thus far.

Bought this for my first DSLR (Canon Rebel T2i) and very happy with my purchase. The bag is compact (a little smaller than I expected, but I didn't check the exact measurements when I bought it), it's well-designed and puts me at ease carting my camera around. The sling design with easy-access compartments works really well. The main compartment has space for the camera with zoom lens attached (i have a 55-250mm and it could fit something slightly longer) plus a sub-compartment for one standard lens it's a snug fit for my 18-55mm, which means I have to keep the zoom lens either attached to the camera in the main compartment, or in the other top compartment where it wouldn't be as well protected, especially if I want to keep other accessories in there. That's my only issue, but if you're just carrying around 2 lenses it's sufficient. I paid $35 which seems a pretty fair price for the size, I wouldn't have wanted to pay more than that. Overall a good buy.

I bought this because we were going on a trip that would involve small children and lots of walking. My camera bag was an over the sholder type and I needed something less bulky and easier to carry. This really delivered in that department. I would have given it 5 stars, but there were a couple of things (probably minor) I didn't like about it.

Pros:

Great over the shoulder, sling pack.

I loved that I could just twist it from my back around to my front and have easy access to my camera through the side zipper.

It can be adjusted to fit snuggly and even strapped around your waist to be even more secure.

Seemed to be pretty roomy if you only need to carry your basic SLR and one lens in the bottom half of the pack. The top half would probably hold one more if that were the only thing stored in the top.

It does not have the "valuable camera and accessories stored in here" appearance, so I felt more secure with it.

Padded nicely.

Compact and a great price.

Cons:

There is not much divided space in either compartment. I had to rip out the velcro pads from my other camera bag to make this bag fit my needs.

There is no "fuzzy material" that the camera bag pads velcro to on the sides of the bag, only on the back. This made any of the pads I put in flimsy and not as secure as I would like. I plan to remedy that myself by stitching some in.

Overall I am satisfied with my purchase, I would buy it again if I had a choice because it really is a nice bag for the price.

I bought this bag after much debate, I probably took a few weeks reading reviews and watching videos, I finally just decided to get this bad, and am pretty happy with it. The price I believe to be a bit high, but over all I like this bag it suits my needs. It is small so my camera and a average sized lens can fit, there is a pocket on the top perfect for the charger and anything you need to store so you don't have to take a purse.

The RIvaCase 8160 is sort of small backpack but yet it should have more than enough room for what you need to take to class on a daily basis.

I really like the back and straps. If you've ever walked any distance with a full backpack then you'll know things get hot and you sweat, the 8160 is made to allow airflow behind the bag and between it and your back so it should help keep you cooler. The straps are mesh as well and the padding has holes in it for airflow.

The bag itself is made of a thick polyester material so it certainly feels sturdy to me. The bag, new, is very stiff from the thick material, but I'm sure with use it should relax and get softer.

The laptop compartment is well padded so it should offer a lot of protection for your laptop while traveling.

The price varies where you look but it's about $75 on average,on Amazon it's less, so it's not what I would call inexpensive and for that you do get a nice quality bag. I'm giving it to one of my kids for school to use everyday and I'm confident it will last all year and longer.

This seems to be perfectly designed to hold PocketWizards unlike a lot of other cases out there that aren't the right shape or width. I currently have 3 flex TTs, A mini TT, A Plus III, and the little RF adapters that come with the FlexTTs. Now it's tight with all that but it seems to hold them safely. It would be nice if it had a divider between the units so they didn't sit directly on top of each other but it seems to hold them snug so maybe it isn't an issue.

I got the black version which is much cheaper, below $50 and I couldn't be happier. I had been searching for the good backpack that is not big and doesn't look serious, high quality to protect my gears and not breaking the bank and it's the pro runner 200. There are many good camera backpack out there but I don't need the laptop compartment which make the bag heavier and big. I just want something simple to keep my gears padded at home and carry around from one place to another.

I am able to fit: Canon 60D, Sigma 50 f1.4, 85mm f1.8, 70-200F4 IS and Metz 54Mz-4i and lens hoods. I will post the picture when Amazon lets me. As someone already mentioned in his review, it doesn't have room for lens with lens hood attached so I have to leave one for all the lens hoods and flash diffuser. I am lucky that the lens hoods are in different size so I can stack them together. Other good two candidates are the Amazon basic backpack and Canon and both are under $40. However, I read many people reviews complained about the quality so I rather not get it.

The two long dividers are a bit too long so there is not much room for DSLR body, very tight.

I wished it was a bit larger for one or two more lenses because I am going to get more later. The next version is pro runner 300 which is $120. If LowePro had a ProRunner 250 then it'd be perfect. If you have set up like mine then I strongly recommend it.

I just uploaded the picture with my stuffs in it so you know how much space you can get with this bag. I want to add that this backpack is not very comfortable to wear for a long strip although it's not big. The strap design is not good, a bit far apart and it doesn't wrap your shoulder comfortably. To me, it would be perfect if it was bit longer and narrower at the top as you see in many student backpacks and it would be more room for accessories.

I just bought it today from my local camera shop , I placed my Sony A99 fitted with Carl Zeiss 24-70 mm f2,8 lens , my 70-200 mm f2,8 ( with revered hood ) ,16 mm fish eye , Sigma 50 f1,4 and finally Sigma 105 Macro lens , I was amazed that a fairly small bag can hold all my lens arsenal .

I have had an old minolta camera bag for decades. It's fantastic, but it's over the shoulder and my back doesn't like the weight of a Canon 5D Mark II, flash and lenses. As I travel a fair amount, I did a lot of research to find a backpack that allowed me the access I enjoyed from the slingbag AND the ability to have it has a 'personal item' to carry on board a plane. I'd really have liked one of the bigger bags, but need my roller carry-on more. This bag is about the same size as the old case, but doesn't quite fit as much in. Perhaps because the foam dividers have become thinner with age.

I've yet to see what check-in staff will say about it being a personal item and I already know that it doesn't fit the stainless steel drink bottle into one of the side pockets (v sad that) as they don't stretch out far enough, but i think it's the best I'll get for the price and size. Hence the 4 stars.

I had been wanting a durable and lightweight backpack for my camera and this one does the job nicely. The only negative is that sometimes the zippers get stuck catching on the material around it but otherwise, this fitted my needs. There was plenty of room for my few lenses and even extra items. I could even use this as my "purse" as there is room for my wallet and a few small odds and ends. But I am not a professional, so I do not have a ton of lenses. I can grab it and go which is what I wanted. Very satisfied.
