I have had this backpack for 11 years. From back to front:

1. The laptop pocket is "hidden" between the shoulder straps and your back, and the zipper is concealed/protected by a wide rain flap. It doesn't look like a laptop bag. This laptop pocket is has thick padding at the bottom to protect your laptop from the floor, and from your back so you don't feel like you are carrying a brick. You can fit a laptop and a couple of paper notebooks easily. You only start feeling a bulge if you put in something very thick like a binder plus the laptop. I really like this laptop pocket.

2. The main compartment for cameras is excellent *for cameras and lenses*. The perimeter is lined with velcro fuzz, and the backpack comes with padded dividers which have velcro hooks on the ends. There are two long dividers to create a center compartment for a camera with a long lens, and a few short dividers to create smaller sections for lenses / chargers / etc. These work great for cameras and lenses, and not so great to create a configuration for a camera, a couple of short lenses, and *books*. Narrow books always seem to slip between the padded dividers and the back of the compartment. You can fit a few clothes, but the shape of the dividers makes this a bit awkward.

The front flap of the main compartment has two "window pane" zippered pockets, which I really like. You can put money / keys / memory cards / first-aid kit / whatever in here.

3. The secondary compartment is for small notebooks, pens, keys, business cards, etc. Its front flap also has two "window pane" zippered pockets.

4. Finally, there is the zippered pocket at the very front of the backpack. Useful for small stuff for which you need quick access.

The shoulder straps: They are nicely padded and easy to adjust. There is a chest buckle, but the male part of the buckle managed to slide itself loose from its strap, and I lost it years ago. I really wish it had staid put; when the backpack is heavily loaded, I would really appreciate the chest buckle. Fortunately, the remaining strap is long enough that you can actually tie it closed.

The belt straps: Nice, wide, seatbelt-like. Not so easy to adjust, but you only do it once. I wish they could be neatly stowed when not in use. However, I manage to wrap the straps around the "Modular Accessory System" slots on the sides of the backpack.

Features I love: The handle on the top is delicious. The thick metal loops on either end of the handle make it easy to hang water bottles and stuff. The smaller metal loops on the shoulder straps are useful for the same. The "Modular Accessory System" slots are loose enough that you can slide one leg of a tripod through them and carry the tripod around. The "window pane" zippered pockets are very convenient and secure.

Every zipper except for the one on the utility pocket in the very front has a wide rain flap that basically conceals the zipper. They really work!

The zippers are super-sturdy. Nice and beefy.

Both the main and the secondary compartments open up completely the zippers go all the way to the bottom of the backpack. You can then put the backpack on a table or on the floor and pack/unpack it easily.

Sometimes I feel that the main camera compartment could be a bit shallower, and the compartment for notebooks/pencils a bit deeper or the main compartment shallower, and an extra compartment for a few clothes.

I would buy this backpack again. It is extremely rugged. Over the years a few people have complimented me on the backpack, which always feels nice :) The times that I have *really* crammed it with stuff, it has worked flawlessly and always

Summary: *great* for camera gear, laptop, and a couple of notebooks/books. Not so great for clothes a light sweater is fine, but fitting a day's change of clothes will be awkward.

This bag is a perfect fit for my Canon Powershot S5 IS. If you have anything larger it probably will not fit in this case. The case has some padding along the inside which would help if you dropped it, but I wouldn't trust it to save your camera from a fall from more than just a few feet. There is a small compartment on the inside of the top flap which is perfect for holding and protecting memory cards. The outside compartment is kind of small, I can barely fit about 8 AA batteries and my camera's USB cable in there, so if you have a lot of accessories look for a larger bag. Overall, if you don't have a lot of equipment this bag is great, especially for the price.

After searching everywhere for the smallest Belt bag for my Panasonic FZ28, I found this to be the closest to my Lowepro Cirrus TLZ5 that I could get. While it is larger than I originally wanted, it now seems perfect. It is small enough to carry the FZ28 on my belt with a spare battery, filters and needed accessories without getting caught on my arms or trees, brush or branches while hiking, and it is large enough to fit everything I might need when travelling, including the charger, lense hood (reversed), miscellaneous cables, cords, card reader,etc. The front section is large enough to carry the charger w/battery and a second spare. The main compartment holds the camera for easy access via the reverse opening lid. It has dual zippers, which I've grown accustomed to. I've carried it over 800 miles now and it's as good as new and the decent padding has protected the camera well. It is water repellant, but not waterproof. It also has a reasonably long shoulder strap, which isn't that common today, but it could use a shoulder pad for use with no shirt collar. The grey interior works pretty well for a substitute gray card for custom white balance out in the woods. When I finally destroy it, I'll just get another.

I like noose style camera straps. This was one of the only ones I could find on amazon when I ordered it.

I like that its a noose style strap but:

Unless I manually grab the strap and tighten it, it will not tighten on its own. So in testing I can purposefully drop my heavy camera and the noose will not tighten at all. The place where the braided cable turns into the squishy strap bit, keeps it from freely sliding tighter. Once, I have manually tightened it, to be safe, it is no longer comfy to use.

It has this button and flap that does nothing???

Also the strappy part is always twisted, no matter what you do. The material feels junky (like nylon or whatever), but seems to be durable enough.

I usually don't use this and just go strapless now. When I find a better noose strap I will buy it.

In my opinion, the strap is too long for a noose strap. you can shorten it but then you have this long extra strap just hanging off... I guess I could cut it.

Basically I can complain about anything, and if you are picky like me, try to find a nicer noose.

You'll find yourself setting your camera down more, but you won't have your strap catching on things or get in the way when using your tripod. When I upgraded to a D800 I chose to go with the Noose instead of the Industry Disgrace because I knew I wouldn't want to set it down. After about 9 months I still use it and prefer it but there are some things you'll have to deal with.

Good:

lightweight

non-bulky, won't get in the way of your tripod

won't snag on things when camera is set down (won't hang off tables, etc.)

Bad:

harder to change lenses on the go because you've only got one truly free hand (be careful!)

you'll have to set it down to really use your right hand

Product works well after you chase the threads and use a thread file to remove the Chrome Plating flash from the thumb screw. That's why I can't give it a 5 star rating. The original and the replacement had the same "out of the box" problem.

The quality control inspector where they manufacturer this product was laid off or something when this product was being made.

Tell me, how many of you have a re-threading die and a thread pitch file? I just so happen to have one because I'm a Machinist. You'll need these items for this product.

Kata DR-466i Digital Rucksack -Black Reviews

At first, I thought that I would have a difficult time fitting all the contents in my camera bag and old backpack inside this. However, it was no sweat. I was able to fit my Canon 50D with 28-135mm attached w/ lens hood, plus my 50mm 1.8, my 430 EX II flash, the camera's battery charger, my 15" Unibody Macbook Pro, the laptop charger, portable external hard drive, various cables, and some adapters. I've still got room for at least 3 more lenses, a tripod, and a water bottle!

Some notable things:

1) Only thin laptops (like Apple's line of notebooks) or laptops smaller than 15" will fit in the sleeve without trouble. In fact, my macbook pro snuggly fit after I removed the neoprene sleeve that protected it before.

2) Putting your DSLR in the bottom compartment will make it difficult to pull out later. Place it in the top area for easier access.

3) I bought the black and red color thinking that the inside will match the red exterior accents. However that's not the case. It is yellow inside no matter what color you bought (by no means a deal breaker for me).

4) The build quality is great. I don't get the impression that this will come apart anytime soon. Also, the bag is very compact and fairly discreet.

I got this bag to carry my laptop and a camera with a couple of lenses in a relatively small package because the Kata 3-n-1-22 "sling-pack" isn't big enough for my 14" laptop and the 3-n-1-33 is bigger than I want. The 466i can take a 14" laptop in the padded back section and a semi-pro DSLR (Canon 7D/5D or Nikon D90/D300S ) with a standard zoom plus a lens and flash in the padded and flexible lower section. YOu can fit a large lunch, a medium telephoto lens or a rolled up windbreaker in the unpadded upper section. If you have a 15" laptop with a case bigger than 9-3/8" x 12", you need the next size up, the Kata 467i.

You can attach a medium sized tripod/monopod or a water bottle to the outside. You can remove the dividers in the bottom section to convert it to a regular (non-camera) laptop backpack. It's comfortable to wear with a moderate load and has both a chest strap (good) and a removable waist strap (maybe overkill) along with a few zippered external pockets. Don't put anything valuable in the external pockets because they could easily be unzipped in a crowd or on a subway car without you realizing it.

Like other Kata bags, it's well made with good zippers and it comes with a rain cover. The top section's zipper should extend an inch or so further down each side to make that section easier to get at, but apart from that the sections are accessible. The bottom section sticks out as much as 8" from your back so you have to be conscious of it in a tight space. Unlike Kata and other "sling packs" you need to take the bag off to easily reach your camera, but the bag does stands upright when you put it on the ground. All in all, it's a functional, reasonably priced bag that lets you comfortably haul both laptop and moderate amount of camera gear.

This backpack is awesome. I have a D300s with a 16-85mm lens attached, Nikon 70-300mm lens, Nikon 50mm lens, sb-600 with filter, battery charger, and miscellaneous filters. All this fits in the bottom area with ease while the other accessories fit nicely up top. I also have a macbook pro 15" that fits too tight with the foam insert left in. Without the foam insert I was a little concerned that the padding on the bottom was not sufficient. To over come this I made a small slit with a razor on the side of the foam insert and removed one layer of the 2 layer foam insert (you can feel the 2 foam pieces if your roll the insert between your fingers). This worked perfectly and now my macbook pro 15" fits great and is adequately protected. I liked the backpack so much that I purchase a Kata DC-445 carrying case as well which is equally as good.

I am using this bag to store and carry my DSLR around, both in the city and during outdoor trips.

The quality of it is simply stunning and every little detail has been taken care of.

The only defect I found is that it is actually a little smaller than I thought: the upper compartment can carry a second pair of shoes, a small bottle of water and a sandwich.

The bag has three pockets on the upper section, two are quite small and flat, good for holding memory cards and batteries. They could easily hold wallet and keys as well I guess. The third one is bigger and I can put in a small bike pump, a spanner and a tube repair kit for when I go cycling.

The camera section is where the good things happen: the compartment looks small from outside, but it is actually pretty big, and holds the camera plus three lenses, or two bodies and two lenses.

There is a small pocket that holds sort of a net for a water bottle or the tripod, and another flat pocket on the back for your laptop. I have a 15'' MBP and it doesn't really fit. I had to remove the pad at the bottom of the pocket, remove the laptop sleeve and push quite hard to be able to close the zip. One it is closed the corners of the computer are quite compressed against the bag and I reckon that a small bump would definitely hurt the computer.

When the bag is closed it sits vertically without falling because of a rigid horizontal surface underneath the camera compartment, when you wear it it is very comfortable. A possible defect is that the waist strap is not padded and it hurts after a while.

The bag is compatible with that KATA system that allows you to lock multiple bags together. Useful if you have some already.

Globally I am very happy, if I had to but it again I would probably buy the 467i. But the 466i looks way more sexy.

I had my first DR-466 for a few months, made it through a long vacation in Argentina with a laptop, Nikon D90 and lenses, a Flip camera with underwater case below as well as battery chargers for all and that's all in the padded compartments, the unpadded compartment held junk I needed for the day like snacks. My kid liked it so much she took mine on a similar vacation and lost it along with her Macbook Pro 15 that fit in perfectly.

I must have liked it because I bought the very same one again and took it to Paris, this time with my laptop, iPad, same camera gear.

Then my kid wanted the same one for the holidays so here I am, back at Amazon buying my 3rd one and they changed the model number to 466i, they must have gotten that from Apple, add a lower case i to everything.

What I like is that it's very well made, has some unique features like the yellow lining so you can tell from a distance that you left it unzippered and it does protect the camera gear and laptop very well, even when tossing it around. It also has a strap on the back designed so you can slip it over your luggage rollalong handle. Never had a problem claiming it as my second carry on where you are allowed a laptop bag, purse or briefcase even though technically it's about an inch too fat. Also feels very comfortable on my back, not all backpacks feel this comfortable, can easily spend the day with this. It also was accepted as carryon in some countries that are not as liberal as the U.S. in allowing carry ons and technically it was too big for those countries but nobody said anything (so much for a 20" carry on being the international standard).

I bought this white case for a Casio Exilim Zoom EXZ300 camera. It is real leather and has the Exilim name pressed into the leather in front. The case fits this camera perfectly and is no bigger than "just big enough" to hold the camera snugly while including a 2nd inside back pocket where cash, credit cards or memory cards can be safely hidden. Inside, it includes a leather sliding tab that allows you to pull it which lifts your camera up out of the case, which means you are not digging your fingers in and scratching the screen every time you want to take the camera out.

It also has a front clasp that snaps closed and stays closed with the additional hidden magnet inside. Clever! The front clasp also features a stitched on metal decorative loop, which acts as a handle which protects the leather from wear and tear every time you open the case.

The detachable wrist strap is on the back and is not simply sewn on like so many others, but attaches by metal clasp to a metal imbedded loop. That small detail will keep the leather strap from tearing or pulling away, which will add years to the usefulness of this case.

I wanted a case that would protect my expensive camera, but would still be small enough to store easily on the hip, a fanny pack or a small purse. This fits the bill perfectly!

1/07/2013 update: This case is still going strong with no issues.

The retro look of the ever ready style case and the quality appearance of the leather attract frequent comments and questions. This is a high quality item and amazing when you consider its modest price. My one minor disappointment is that it won't quite fit over my aftermarket lens hood (JJC-LH-JX10), at least not with the lens cover on. It will fit (snugly) without the cover. Another reviewer said it fit over his lens hood, so he may have had a different brand.

I've been a serious photographer ever since graduating from high school in 1948. I have a Nikon SLR, but the combo of Fuji X-10 and leather case is really satisfying. Like the old 35mm rangefinder days, only better.!

I got this case for my wife's x20. Both cameras have the same body so this sharp looking leather case fits her camera perfectly. The brown leather looks fantastic on the silver camera.

The case is in two parts. The bottom can be left on while shooting. The case is held on by snaps around the neck strap. You will have to use the strap to keep the case on. If does fit well, and doesn't seem like it will just fall off. However, you can easily take the case off without removing the strap. The top fully covers the camera and attaches to the bottom with two snaps and a magnet. You have to take the case off to change batteries or sd cards. I have a similar case for my film slr and guess what: You have to take it off to change the battery or roll of film so that's nothing new.

It isn't water or dust proof.

The value is good. Especially compared to the fuji case.

I'm in love with my new Fujifilm X10, so I decided to buy it a leather case. I compared the original case with this article and I decided on the most economical...

The finish is impressive, the quality of the leather is quite similar to the original case, the light brown color is perfectly dyeing and finishing inside is soft and durable (apparently felt, but also is skin). What I really like is that the camera fits perfectly into the bottom of the case, it is without gaps and is very comfortable to hold. It is very easy access to buttons and other controls on the X10.

I really recommend this case. It costs only 16% of the original and perfectly fulfills its function. If you want that your Fujifilm X10 looks retro appearance in all its splendor, plus if you want that your camera is protected, purchase this wonderful case. Is "the best that money can buy."

I was not about to break down my camera rig enough to fit it in there. Even if I had, it would have been doubtful about it fitting. I was, however, able to use it with a Nikon digital camera. that one didn't have much as far as accessories, except an extra battery. The accessories included with the bag can be a nice plus for some, but for me, I wouldn't call them "essential" by any stretch.

Take the time to shop for a case that works for your rig. Take measurements and don't trade that for a few little trinket accessories that you will most likely just buy along the way anyway if you need them.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program The first thing that struck me about the LowePro DSLR Protection Essentials Kit was how small the camera bag is. I thought to myself "Will my camera even fit in that bag?". Unfortunately, the answer was "No." I have a Canon T2i DSLR with a 17-50mm lens. I would try the camera with the stock lens but I don't have it anymore. My lens is not exactly oversized and the camera will not fit in the bag with the lens on. Even if the camera would fit into the bag with a slightly smaller lens there isn't enough room left at the back of the camera to fit the camera's neck strap down into the bag. The bag is fairly durable looking and it has a a reasonable amount of padding. The shoulder strap is thin with no padding and would not be comfortable with any amount of weight in the bag. The good news is nothing you place in this bag will be very heavy because the bag is too small to hold much. One of the drawbacks of carrying a DSLR as opposed to compact camera is the size. A DSLR doesn't exactly fit in your pocket. I guess some people might want the smallest bag possible to keep theirs in. But, I think if you're serious about photography or even semi-serious, you're going to outgrow this bag very, very quickly. I bought a flash diffuser for my camera and there's no place that it would fit in this bag.

The other "essentials" included in the kits are not really essentials. The UV filter will, of course, only fit if you have a 58 or 52 mm lens. It doesn't fit my lens. And, given the price, I doubt that is is a quality filter. It could protect your lens from fingerprints and scratches. The screen protector is actually better than I was expecting. The instructions that came with it are not clear at all. It comes with a front and back laminateone says to remove before application and the other after application. But, the instructions don't tell you when to trim the card in relation to removing these covers. The template that is printed on one of the laminates didn't have a size that matched my screen exactlyso I had to custom trim mine. The included squeegee card is a thin piece of cardboard that wasn't stiff enough to remove the air bubbles. But, I was able to get the protector trimmed and used a credit card to remove the bubbles and got a decent fit.

I'd call this a camera bag with a couple of freebies thrown in rather than a "essentials kit". I suspect anyone who has spent $500 or more on a good DSLR is going to want a better bag that will not only be more durable and protect their investment better but that will hold the extra gear he is likely to purchase. Even if you don't carry an extra lens, you might by an external flash or a flash diffuser or extra battery pack none of which fit in this bag easily. Mostnot at all.

My advice would be to spend a few more dollars and get a bigger bag with more protection. I spent about $20 more than this bag is going for and got a much nicer bag. It's not so big that I am at all hesitant to carry it. But, it's big enough that I feel it will serve me well for a few years.

The bag: Essential. You need this bag to carry everything that goes along with any DSLR: lens cap, lens filters, batteries, memory cards, cords, straps, etc... if you are really into photography, you know how many little extras go along with owning a good camera. And this bag handles them all since it has many little compartments. It's sturdy, well-made and has a belt loop or strap to handle whatever way you want to carry it. The padding seems pretty substantial and would protect your camera from basic drops and bumps.

The UV filter: Well, for some this may be essential, but I'm not certain that for many basic photographers, the so-called "blue cast" that pictures have with film cameras isn't really registering on DSLRs to the point where a filter is necessary. The glass used in almost all lenses will block any light with a wavelength shorter than 350nm, so you don't need help from a filter, necessarily unless you are a very picky, technical photographer. Most of us are not.

The screen laminate: This could go either way. A simple wipe-down with a lens cloth clears up any smudges on the viewing screen for me. The laminate could possibly eliminate some smudges, but then you need to wipe off the laminate occasionally anyway. As far as applying the laminate, this was tricky and a bit difficult. It's almost impossible (unless you live in a dust-free science lab) to keep bits of dust from getting under that piece of plastic, so prepare for a few bubbles that can't be removed with the supplied cardboard "squeegee". They won't be visible when the camera is on anyway.

All in all, a good kit for the money, but some parts seem like afterthoughts that could easily be left out. I think it might be that the manufacturer tossed them in to help make the near-40-dollar price tag look reasonable. I feel it's reasonable either way.

First, the case is really very, very tiny. A Canon Rebel XT with an 18-55mm lens would have a pretty tough time fitting in here. The 58mm UV filter (which by the way, isn't even mentioned on Amazon's description so you wouldn't even know what lens size it fits!) is standard fare, and comes in a cardboard box/sleeve. Not a very protective case if you decide to take it off. I'm guessing Lowerpro don't assume you'll ever remove it, which is maybe a poor assumption given there are ND filters, polarizing filters etc you might want to use.

In any case, an all-too-small case, an "OK" UV filter (it's bottom of the barrel, but it works), and a screen protector.

I'm not seeing the value here, truly. If you need a case this size, a 58mm filter, and a screen protector for your camera's LCD, well... I'd probably just spend a little more and get something with a bit more.... "possibility." You're restricting yourself with this setup, and it really just feels like you're spending the cash on a bag with a few things thrown in for free. Looking at it that way, get yourself a bigger Lowepro and open up the possibility that your gear collection will expand preempt that with a larger case!

If you are looking for the perfect bag for easy access, low carry weight and fits the Sony A55 with a Zeiss 16-80 lens attached you need look no further. It fits like a glove with NO slop. Easy access while it ride comfortably and nearly weightless around your shoulder allowing for quick one zip, pull out and shoot access. The bag is nicely padded and weather proofed as well against rain and dust. The front pouch is perfect for filters, cleaning cloth and memory cards to be added. The case is well made and just as described. For sizing purposes this case holds a Canon T2i with the kit lens and has 1" of slop in the vertical direction. It will also hold the same camera with a Tamron 70-300, but it is a tight squeeze. Very little room in the front pouch, but enough for a spare battery, lens cap, cleaning kit, etc. My intended purpose is to protect the camera when taking it out for an intended purpose where I will not need more room. Still have a bigger case for overall storage.

I got this for my Canon Rebel T3 with the default 18-55 lens (~$500, got it recently). I wanted a bag that wasn't too big but still felt safe (something I could throw in the backseat or bang against things without worrying). This seems to be a good one. I think I could have tried the TLZ 15, which seems to be a little shorter, if I wanted a more snug fit and a slightly smaller bag to carry. I heard they are sold at Fred Meyer/any local electronics store, so it might be worth taking your camera and trying it out there for fit. But I didn't know that, so between the 15 and the 25, I chose this bigger one semi-arbitrarily.

At first it seemed too big... but I shouldn't mind the extra room. If I were to get a bigger lens one day, there's some room for it. (Of course, no room to carry two lenses... just the camera and the lens currently attached to it.) Also, I use the extra room at the top to fold up the camera strap and fit that in. I'm not sure how the TLZ 15 would fit the camera strap. I might go and try it sometime just to see.

Quality construction. Durable outside, and smooth fabric on the inside like a life vest. The zippers are nice and move easily. The side pockets can hold my camera charger, though it's a tight fit. With the shoulder strap, I like to wear it across my torso with the bag hanging behind my hip and it's secure but out of the way if I'm just walking around. When I'm actively taking pictures, I can easily slide the lens cap into the front pocket.

I LOVE this bag! Yes, it is big BUT it is worth it if you have a lot of accessories! I have just about every accessory for my DCR-DVD505 camera and EVERYTHING fits in this bag! The wide shoulder strap helps to keep the weight off your back. This bag has so many pockets that months after having this bag, we were finding more storage. We are not disappointed at all as we have carried this bag on our cross country trips and we have not had any problems! I even use the bag to carry non-camera related items in it because while using the camera/caring this bag, I do not carry a purse because it is my purse as well as my camera big which includes all of the camera's accessories. If you need storage then this is the bag for you!

Cons:

My ONLY complaint would be, I do wish the bag came with a diagram of all of the pockets and storage areas instead of having you to find them on your own especially since there are a lot of them.

This is probably a great bag for the right person, but it was way to big for my needs. Sony has this listed as a bag for a huge variety of their cameras. Before you buy this, just make sure that you realize that it is actually 17" long. You could probably fit four to six of some of the Cybershot cameras into this bag. If you are looking for something to hold a bigger Sony camera and lot of accessories, this is probably the bag for you.

It is big at 17 inches and has plenty of room for my Sony Cybershot H5 and my wife's Canon EOS and assorted lens, chargers, manuals, Canon 100 monopod, etc. all of our travel camera gear in one bag. I have this bag for my HDR HC7 and all accessories. It is great. It fits dual battery charger, connection cords, wide angle lens, camera, the marine case and about 9 tapes. This waterproof case worked great on the 6 dives that we did in Mexico. It was down a max depth of 80 feet over three days of diving.

The case allows full control of all the camera functions and settings. You can purchase weights from Canon that will bring the bouyancy to neutral. I did not have them and had no problems.

A few recommendations that were given to me that I thought I'd pass on:

Do a "test" dive with the case empty to make sure there are not any leakage issues.

Get some moisture munchers (dessicant packs) to avoid fogging at depth. Loading the camera in your air-conditioned hotel room (assuming you're not on a liveaboard) also helps keep out excess moisture.

Avoid opening and closing the case while on the dive boat.

Rinse with fresh water after every dive.

Unless you purchase a strobe light, it does help to be closer to subjects/objects (less than 5 feet) in order to get better color when you are deep.

I took this on my Mexico vacation and for the first day(2 dives)and it worked fantastic. The pictures turned out far better than I could have imagined. But, on the first dive the second day it started to leak at 45 feet and destroyed the camera. Fortunately most of the pics were rescued. I have no idea why it failed as I followed all the instructions to the letter. I sent my camera and case back to Canon and they said they would repair both at no cost. We'll see what happens.

While I have only used the waterproof case in shallow water applications, I am thrilled with the results so far. I have no reason to think that it wouldn't perform equally as well during a deeper dive (50-100 ft). You can really get creative in and around the water knowing that your camera isn't going to get damaged. The Canon A520 is a great, all-around point and shoot camera. Combine it with the waterproof case and it will allow you to take your photography skills to a higher level. I'll admit that I'm strictly a novice photographer, but you might think otherwise after viewing some of my recent snaps. I am convinced that the waterproof housing allows you to maximize your digital photography experience.

We got this for our family vacation trip to Aruba, and we took it both snorkeling with us at the beach and just going to the pool at the resort. It was really easy to pop our digital camera in, close the case, and off you go to the water! We also bought the weights to attach to the bottom so it wouldn't float when we went scuba diving. Pictures came out great.

My only negative on this was it was hard to tell what you were taking a picture of. In shallow water under sunlight, the ambient light was too bright for me to see the screen to tell what I was taking a picture of, and I couldn't really use the view-finder with a mask on, so I just sort of aimed in the general direction and took a picture. And hey, it's a digital camera, so it's not like you're wasting film! Just take lots of pictures and then pick out a few of the good ones.

I bought this for a snorkeling vacation we took in Hawaii. I do most of my photography with an SLR, but for underwater the case and smaller camera worked well.

Depending on the light conditions underwater it can be difficult to see the viewfinder, but the pictures turned out well. Be careful not to open the case "on the beach" since it is easy to get grime in the seal.
