When I was looking for a camera bag I simply wanted something that I could hike around with and take on a plane. Not only does it work well in both of these situations I am also confident in traveling in crowded places with it since it is only accessible from the side facing your back. Its all weather cover has proven to come in handy while living in the rainy northwest as well. Something else that's really neat about this backpack is that it can be converted into a normal spacious backpack by removing all the partitions inside. As a side note the partitions feel really strong with a plastic backing inside. Another plus is the easy side access so you can grab your camera quickly.

Things that may bother some people is that it does have a lot of adjustable straps meaning there are a lot (15 or so) of loose straps everywhere. On the plus side to that it is the most comfortable backpack I have owned, but the straps are everywhere. Also the all weather cover is a tight fit and sort of hard to stuff back in its pouch. Lastly the adjustable tripod holder takes some muscle to move since it's a matter of pushing a Velcro system up and down, but you shouldn't have to move it more than once unless you have more than 1 tripod...or fishing pole like me :).

In conclusion if you are looking for a backpack that you can hike with, carry some extra gear, that's comfortable and secure, and of course able to pack a camera body and a couple of lenses this is the bag for you. Also, if your looking for more room they come in different sizes I think.

The bag fit all my needs and provided more than I was expecting so I gave it 5/5 stars.

I was looking for a backpack that would be comfortable for day hikes, carry my d90 with 2-3 lenses and accessories, and with a tripod holder. I also wanted room to carry a light jacket and other non-camera things in the top compartment. Finally, I wanted quick access to my camera without taking the bag off, a pocket for a water bottle and a netbook compartment. This backpack does all of this perfectly! I was initially concerned about the side access pocket and the outer compartment that I use to hold my netbook but they both work great. The quick access door takes a little practice if you want to remove your camera without slinging the bag around but once you get used to it it's easy to do. The outer compartment is perfect if you have a netbook in a protective sleeve that you want to carry through the airport, etc.

This is a great camera case. My only concern is that I have a standard lens, and the lens portion of the case is longer. I use the case to protect the camera while I am traveling. It is sturdy and well designed.

Good stuff:

fit. This case preserves camera compact credentials by tightly hugging it on all sides

protection. I feel confident handling the camera while it is in this case as it's hard shell should protect camera against bumps and even moderate falls.

included neck strap. Camera is always easy to grab and ready to shoot. This is fine alternative to belt cases.

tripod adapter. Camera is secured in the case by tripod adapter that allows me to attach tripod without taking camera out of the case. I often carry it with Gorillapod Video Tripod (Black/Blue) attached, so it is ready for the those shots that require camera to be stabilized.

Canon logo. Hey, we all love our camera, so why not being proud of it :-). Besides, this is officially authorized Canon case, which means that it undergoes stringent specifications requirements and tight quality control before reaching the customers

price. This case looks and feels it's suggested MSRP price, so the 'Deluxe' part of the title is not just a moniker. Buying it at it's current ten dollar (with free Prime shipping) tag is a real bargain.

Not so good stuff:

real leather? I am not an expert but it looks like faux leather to me. No indication on the case except 'Made in China' stamp. Anyway, case looks and feels nice inside and out and provides excellent protection, so the only difference may be the longevity, which I am not ready to judge.

two-piece construction. Case consists of two separate pieces: the sides/bottom piece that is securely connected to the camera and front/top/back piece that connects to the bottom part via three buttons. When you prepare camera for shooting you need to remove the front of the case and you have three ways of doing it: completely unbuttoning it and storing separately or unbuttoning either right most button or two center buttons. Practically though only the first way is useful because the other two alternatives leave front portion of the case hanging freely from the camera and not only making camera uncomfortable to handle but also not hanging very securely as any slight pull might separate the front portion of the case with you either loosing it or having to catch as it falls to the ground. So the dilemma is once you separate the front portion of the case from the rest of the camera, where do you keep it? In the bag? In coat pocket? Either way this is a problem waiting for solution and distracting from using your camera.

So, which case should you buy? If you need more storage for spare battery or memory card, you need to keep looking for a larger case with additional compartments for the accessories. If you are comfortable wearing your camera on the belt, then Canon PSC-500 Deluxe Soft Case is an excellent choice. If you are looking for more sophisticated look, neck strap and ability to leave tripod attached, then this case is a very fine choice and you will not be disappointed.

First the good stuff:

Great looking, looks like leather to me. Easy to put on and take off. Solid protection. Great fit. Makes the camera easier to hold.

And now, the not so great:

Neck strap is uncomfortable (I took it off, no biggie). No storage space, even for an extra memory card. The bottom of cover covers the microphones on front, and so it must be completely removed when making movies. The cover also inhibits use of the lens adjustment ring; you can still access it while shooting, it is just a little more awkward with the case on.

Overall, a satisfying purchase, but I might get a soft case with storage when I take this on vacation.

I am not sure if it is leather or pleather, but if fake it is, the best fake I have ever seen.

And new Canon owners of the S100 will be glad to know it will fit the newer model too.

Yes there are small size differences to the 95, but not enough to make the case unusable. For $10 I took the chance and am very happy with it. Now my little S100 is protected while banging around in my truck or a back.

I attend a lot of festivals and events. I was in need of a camera case for my canon s100 that would protect my camera without having to constantly remove the case. There were no options available. I ran across this case and read the size of the s95 and s100 are comparable. For around $10 it wasn't a big loss if it didn't work. However this fit my s100 like a glove. The provided strap is also long enough that I can sling the camera over my neck and shoulder. I can walk and dance without it getting in my way at all.

I ordered this a while back and did receive it promptly. I use it for my sony alpha nex-5n, and soon my minolta x-700 also. While there is plenty of room to fit both cameras and the lenses, I really don't like the dividers. Since they are held in place by velcro, they sometimes will come undone, compromising my cameras. My only advice is to do plenty of research before buying a camera bag.

Bag is a little soft if your looking for something rugged and it could use a couple extra Velcro dividers. It weighs less compared to the Petrol bags that the TV station I work for use. Good bag overall. I keep my 100-300mm, 28-100mm, and wide angle lenses in it. Along with my older Minolta 35mm and my new Sony NEX 5.

This leather bag is small enough to take anywhere yet is remarkably capacious. I initially bought it to carry my Kindle and was surprised to find my K2 fits into the bag in either a horizontal or vertical orientation, leaving lots of room to spare for other electronics (or even for a full size book). I also appreciate the multitude of pockets in which to store pens, cell phone, Kindle accessories.

All told, a bit pricey but well-made and worth the price.

Addendum: This bag fits the Kindle DX just perfectly when the DX is inserted in portrait orientation. Sweet.

The leather is very good quality, and I am sure it will age nicely. The zippers work well, the stitching is perfect, and the shoulder strap has a wide section which distributes the weight nicely on your shoulder. The wide section is arc-shaped, and the strap ends can be swapped for carrying on either shoulder. The strap attaches to the bag with swivels, which is a very nice feature.

Prior to buying it, I read a review which stated that the strap was not long enough to wear it cross-body, so I sent an email to Piel, asking about the length of the strap. I received a detailed response the same day, stating that the strap is 50 inches long. I am 5' 10" tall, and the strap is plenty long for me, without alot of excess length. I typically wear it with the strap on my left shoulder and the bag just behind my right hip.

I just returned from a cruise, and the bag easily held my wallet, car keys, passport, noise-cancelling headset, camera, Kindle, various eye glasses in their cases, small binoculars, some prescription meds, and a few other small items.

I am very happy with this bag, and would recommend it to anyone looking for quality product which is compact yet functional.

I was using my Tamrac 5627 Pro 7 Digital Zoom Camera Bag (Black) to carry my D-SLR and 18-70 mm lens. I recently purchased an 80-200 mm lens. And I needed a way to carry it with the camera bag during shoots.

I bought the MX5437 for 3 reasons to use for storing the 80-200 mm lens, as a protective casing and to attach it to my Tamrac bag through the Modular.Accessory.System.(M.A.S) so I can carry it around with me.

This Lens case protects the lens well, has more than adequate padding inside and attaches securely and easily to a Tamrac bag through the M.A.S.slot. For 25 dollars it seems to do the job well as a value for money product.

However, I haven't tested it's water proof capabilities and do not plan to.

After using this for a couple of months, here are my general feedback:

Pro:

1. Solid and durable material. very well made.

2. Light weight!

3. Well fit and good depth for 70-200 f2.8 lens

Could-have-been-better

1. A shoulder belt option to give flexibility over just on the waist belt

2. Design: Slightly increase in diameter (say 5mm) would be nice, so that it is not too tight to squeeze in the 70-200, when the tripod ring AND quick release plate are attached. It's harder to retrieve the lens with top-opening when the lens is squeezed in.

This case is the ideal size for the Sony 16-35mm f/2.8, 24-70mm f/2.8 or 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6 lens. With a pair of these cases attached to the Tamrac 517 Tele-Zoom Pack (Black), I can carry a Sony A900 camera and all three lenses in a reasonably compact manner. However, I wouldn't want to hike much with this combination because it is a bit heavy to carry using one shoulder strap. For hiking, I recommend a backpack such as the Kata KT D-3N1-30 Sling/Backpack (Black).

Pros:

Stylish and lightweight

Cons:

As it was mentioned before, shoulder straps do not have sufficient padding. After a few hours of walking with the backpack full of stuff, the inconvenience becomes evident. I'm comparing it with the comfort of my NorthFace backpack, which is a lot better in this sense.

Rain protection cover sits well only if the backpack is not on your back, otherwise you need to adjust it frequently, since the construction of shoulder straps prevent the cover to stay on top of the notebook compartment. That's a serious flaw for the backpack.

Hand strap is pretty useless once backpack is full. Lifting the backpack reveals the weakness of the whole construction.

There is no hard bottom, so I decided to use extra divider to protect the bottom of my lens.

Bottom line:

Suites for light DSLR camera, short trips and good weather.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program The Case Logic DCB-309 SLR Camera Backpack is a well designed backpack that is classy looking and has lots of great features that you want in a camera backpack.

Pros: Lots of pockets. Not an overwhelming number of pockets, but enough, and where you want them to be. There are flat pockets on the front (and pockets within those), a couple on the sides, and a sleeve for 14-15" laptops (or smaller). There's also one on the rear that holds a rain cover for the pack. Nice inclusion.

Well designed main compartment. I was able to fit in, unbelievably, a mid-size SLR with 28-85mm zoom, huge 80-200mm zoom, 90mm macro lens, 50 mm normal lens, 12-24mm zoom, extra batteries, hard drive, case with memory cards, right angle viewfinder, small flash with extra batteries, hoods for all the lenses, and an extra camera binoc style harness. Now, it's a *tight* fit, but it all goes in there. There is lots of padding around the perimeter of the compartment and a plethora of detachable dividers. Everything seems protected from outside forces and internal ones.

Cinch straps keep the front-to-back sections taut. This keeps the bag from feeling like it's flopping from the weight of what's inside.

A sternum strap is most appreciated, as are well-padded shoulder straps, and separate tripod fixture.

Cons: No bottom protection. The DCB-309 is well suited as an urban camera backpack, but out on the trail, the ground is often wet. You could use the rain cover to sit it on, then it would get cruddy.

Strap to body joining seems marginal. With my backpack fully loaded, lifting the pack by a strap revealed major stress and strain on the seam between strap and body, with a visible separation. I can see this as an early point of failure.

Under light to moderate weight load and use, this backpack will suffice. It is well designed and of quality materials. Under heavy weight loading and rough use, I believe you will experience reduced life, as the pack does not appear to be designed for rough treatment or extreme loading.

I strongly disagree with reviews that question the VALUE of this item at around $60 this camera pack tops a competitve list including Lowepro, Kata, Tamrac, Mountainsmith, and Clik. Don't get me wrong these other brands also offer superb, feature-packed products that are well worth the investment. For my needs (read on) this case offers solid protection, elegant (simple, uncluttered) styling, and all the capacity and features I need it holds my photo system, a laptop, chargers, cables and other kit, tripod, water bottle, a stuffable windbreaker and a snack

at $40 to $140 or more cheaper than the competition. And yes, it does come with a rain cover!!

What it holds:

1) In main padded compartment: Panasonic Lumix GH2 w/ 14-140 zoom, GF2 w/20 normal in leather case, eye level finder for GF2, 100-300 zoom, 7-14 zoom, 45 macro, 14 normal, 6 spare batteries, two plug-in battery chargers, Tamrac square filter pouch, Panasonic 360 flash, Minolta spotmeter, plus one small cell to spare for other kit or another small lens.

2) In padded computer sleeve next to back: 14" HP Pavillion dm4 with room to spare; slim A/C power adapter, extension cord.

3) In full length x width, padded back "organization" pocket: 2-3 guidebooks and printed matter in a mesh outer slot, wallet & keys in a zip pocket; fabric slots for 3 pens, a large digital phone (Droid Global), and a large PDA (Ipaq).

4) In way-back, padded, outside zip pocket: room for a netbook with charger, or iPad in case+, or large and medium textbooks, or (my favorite) a light stuffable jaket and snack.

5) On left side: Tripod strap with bottom pocket that zips shut when not needed very low profile/clean design.

6) On right side: Mesh pocket which can hold quart waterbottle or umbrella.

7) In zipper backpad pocket: Storage for rain cover when not in use.

NOTE: This case may not offer the same capacity for your Nikon or Canon DSLR system Micro 3/4 does have a size advantage but for the price and feature combination, I would still look carefully at this case. The dividers are fully adjustable and I can fit more kit in the padded camera compartment than I would carry on most outdoor shoots.

NOTE 2: This pack is ideal for travel, around town, short hikes, and hands-free carrying. I use it on my bicycle around town and commuting. The straps and suspension are comfortable and fully adequate for these uses but this suspension system (2 shoulder straps and a chest strap) is not as sophisticated as a a backcountry pack with a waist belt or an action sports pack for skiing, running,etc. If these are your intended uses, you will probably need to spend more money (LowePro Trekker 300 or 400) or slip this pack into a technical backpack.

Yes, you could put rocks in it too, but for my DSLR, couple of lens, filters, batts, mics, on cam light, flash, monopod, iPad/MacBook and more, it totally rocks. Tons of thought on how this thing will get used. More pockets than a pack deserves. Extremely well designed, right down to the elastic zipper pull pockets on the inside of the main compartment lid so your gear won't get scratched. Build quality (being made in China, had some doubts) was way better than expected. Only thing I can even remotely think of how to improve it would be some sort of keeper elastic for the chest strap when its not in use. And no, I don't work for the company, just very stoked over this product.

I love this bag for several reasons:

1. It fits a TON of stuff, way more than it appears to be able to fit.

2. While it fits a ton, you can still cram it under the seat on an airplane unless the plane has foot rests, but I've only been on one plane that had foot rests.

3. It doesn't scream "I have expensive camera gear in here!" Case Logic isn't a company that's known for camera bags, so I feel a little less likely to have it stolen.

4. Super cost effective compared to other bags.

5. I've had it for over a year now and it's still holding up fantastically!

There are three brands of cases, all with the same basic design. I don't know about the others, but they appear to have similar failures. The case does not allow for the camera to be used by itself. The camera is screwed into the case by the mounting thumbscrew and it takes a lot of extra time if you wanted to remove it. The case also does not have a strap of its own. It does come with a leather strap but this just replaces the cloth strap on the camera. The leather strap, unlike the Canon cloth strap does not have a non-slip surface.

It takes more time to unbutton this case and flip the cover up than it would to take a camera out of a carrying bag. Even when you unbutton the bottom, it is a hassle to flip the cover up and over as it is so tightly fitted. I have ordered a carry bag and will abandon this when the new one comes.

I just received this camera case today and unfortunately it does not look like the photo on Amazon. It appears to be leather but the outside of the case looks more like pleather. The case has a more of a naugahyde look. Not sure why they chose to make real leather look fake. I am returning this case and will be shopping around for another case for the Canon G15. BTW, the case did fit the camera perfectly and I had no problem attaching the camera to the case. The only reason for the return is appearance.

I've looked for so long for a small camera case to keep in my purse. This one is not bulky, yet there is a zippered compartment to keep extra batteries and memory cards. This is perfect and very inexpensive.

Since the vast majority of people place their digital camera in their case with the lens facing to the front of the case I would like to suggest with this case that you do the reverse if you want your camera to be more properly protected. This would ensure that the LCD screen faces the padded backing between the front pocket and main compartment, as there is no padding to the back of the case. The lens cover should adequately protect the lens if it faces the back of the case in the event of an accidental fall.

I freely admit to being a Case Logic fanboy. It's hard not to be, when every time I have a carrying/storage need, there is always a perfect solution that that has a Case Logic label on it.

This item is no different. I have a Panasonic Lumix camera that resides in another Case Logic case with extra pockets, belt loop, etc. which fits my need for that camera perfectly. However, I wanted a smaller, quicker point and shoot, which I found in the Samsung EC-ST65 Digital Camera with 14 MP and 5x Optical Zoom (Indigo Blue)

This is one of the smallest cameras I've had my hands on as it uses a proprietary slimline rechargeable battery instead of AA or even AAA batteries. It also uses a microSD card instead of a regular SD card. So for my needs, All I wanted was a case that I could store the camera safely in. No need for spare battery or card storage and it's so tiny, you can just slip it in your pocket.

I didn't see where they indicate the material used, but it sure feels like the same neoprene used for my Kindle case. No guarantees there, though. You can check out the camera link, above, and compare the size compared to the case and get a better feel for it when I say the my Samsung just fits like the case was tailor make for it. If it weren't for the fact that the material stretches, it might not quire fit.

As for their claim that you can use it for a smart phone...? Um... yeah. I'd really like to see the smart phone that would actually fit.

Anyway, the construction of this case is solid. The stitching is very tight with no unsightly seams. There are twin "beads" of cushioning around the entire interior perimeter so that when the case is zipped up, it provides protection all the way around the edge of your device. The seams also seal together under the zipper so that if this is truly neoprene, gives a water resistant barrier.

One face of the case is about twice as thick as the other and is much stiffer, adding a nice touch of protection for the screen of your device. The zipper pull is rubber coated for ease of use and the wrist strap is about 9" long with a lobster claw clasp that clips onto the "D" ring on the bottom of the case.

For those of you who have experience with Case Logic products, it's worth emphasizing that this particular case is made from an entirely different material than what we're used to seeing from C.L. I admit I was a little put off by the difference, but I'm really glad I went ahead and got it. I couldn't be happier as, like I said, Case Logic comes through again!

I love this little case. It's VERY lightweight, cute color, and it fits my new Canon ELPH 330HS perfectly. It comes with a carrying strap, but I prefer to use the strap connected to my camera. The camera strap easily fits outside of the case zipper.

I love this case. I have a Canon PowerShot A2300, and I wanted a case for it that I could just easily stick in my purse without much extra bulk.

If you're looking for something with room for extras, then maybe go with something else, but this case is fantastic for my purposes. I also like that one side of the case is more stiff to protect my camera screen.

This is my second Lowepro bag. About two years ago, I purchased a Lowepro Fastpack 250 (Black) camera/laptop backpack. It has held up to use wonderfully, but I recently started using the eBags Mother Lode TLS Weekender Convertible as my carry-on bag when I fly. Because I prefer to use the TLS Weekender as a backpack, the Fastpack has become impractical for use when I need to fly -it is obviously pretty hard to use TWO backpacks at once! So I began looking for a similar laptop/camera carrying solution that was messenger-style so I could use the TLS as a backpack, and then sling the messenger bag across my shoulder.

My criteria was 1. bag must be messenger-style; 2. since this will mainly be used as my "personal item," I was hoping to find something a little smaller than my Fastpack 250; the Fastpack 250 DOES fit underneath an airline seat, but it can be a tight squeeze on a small plane; 3. it had to be able to fit both my DSLR and my 15.4" laptop; 4. it had to look professional, i.e. I was looking for something fairly conservative that wouldn't look out of place if I carried the bag on business. This bag fit what I was looking for to a T.

Things I like: 1. The size. I'm on the smaller side (5-5, 115 pound female) and this bag "fits" me much better than the Fastpack. It may not be big enough for you if you carry a lot of lenses and other equipment, however. 2. The quality seems to match my Fastpack, which as I said has handled regular use wonderfully. 3. The looks -it is a nice looking, laptop style bag; you would not know that it also carries a camera. Lowepro really came up with a very creative solution -the laptop is placed just as you would expect from the top, but the camera has it's own pocket on the side of the bag, so you can get your camera out without having to open the entire bag. I think this was a very clever idea and it also hides the fact that you're carrying a camera. 4. There are a lot of extra pockets for peripherals both on the outer pocket and on the interior of the bag. This makes it easy to keep things organized when you're traveling. 5. The price. This bag is relatively inexpensive compared to other LowePro bags.

Things I don't like: 1. The carrying strap for a couple of reasons: a) it is sewn onto the bag so you can't swap out your own strap and b) it has NO padding. 2 I would have liked to have a zipper or some other way to close the main compartment. You fold the top of the bag over and fasten it, but I'd really like a way to better secure the main compartment to make sure nothing falls out and to help protect the interior contents from the weather.

All and all I am very pleased with this bag. If you need to carry a lot of equipment or lenses, this probably would not be a good choice -I'd consider this a "travel light" bag. If, however, you are just looking for a simple, smaller sized solution to carry your DSLR and laptop along with accessories, I'd definitely consider this bag.

I LOVE this bag. I needed something larger than your typical fanny pack sized bag because as a single mother I needed a diaper bag that doubled as a safe camera bag. Add occasional airline travel, and this bag hits the trifecta. I can put my laptop in it for travel, and on a daily basis it is durable, and roomy enough for all of my baby gadgets (diapers, burb cloths, spare outfits, etc) and still has room for the padded camera compartment and for a spare lens. Even room for my Nikon manual in it in case I need to remember how to use one of the bazillion settings. Outer pockets for my ipod and camera, even though my HTC Evo doesn't fit in it. Outer elastic side pocket holds lens caps etc when you don't want to open the bag to tuck something away. Will fit a small tripod in the main pouch, when you don't have it full of other stuff like I usually do. My D80 fits with either the 18-155 lens or the 70-300 lens on it without having to take it apart, which is a huge timesaver. Very nice to be able to get my camera out, take a photo and put it away with one hand while holding my baby. As my baby needs less space in the bag I look forward to being able to put more camera related gadgets in it. Only thing that irks me is that when the flap is not buckled down, the middle of the bag sags open and I worry things will fall out of it. Should not be too much of an issue with solid items like lenses, but I have it full of fabrics and soft items. A support strap in the middle or a stiffer top edge would have been helpful though. Overall, I would buy this bag again in a heartbeat.

I love this bag, I generally just use it for my school and it it has more than enough pockets and space for everything I use for school and an extra lens! Super durable and has great build quality. The only complaint I would have is the strap... If you are packing a little too heavy on the bag, the strap will slowly start to tire your shoulder out.

Other than that, a GREAT bag, would highly recommend it.

I use this bag in combination with my Lowepro Magnum 400 AW when I travel for my photo safaris. I can easily fit a 14" laptop, Canon 5DMKIII with the 24-105 attached and a 70-200 f4 in the Compuday (no lens hoods). I place a second body and my big glass in the 400 AW which I carry with a small trolley. You can carry all together in the trolley attaching the Compuday via a bag bungee and splitting them when checking in or boarding. Good way to avoid the airline checking your expensive photo gear that can happen if you carry everything in just one big bag.

I am either going to need to add padding to this or purchase a new bag as I do not trust my laptop and DSLR in this. I am concerned both/either could break fairly easily. The price was great but not worth it.
