Think Tank ~ Retrospective Lens Changer 3, Pinestone
Customer Ratings: 5 stars

When is a camera bag not literally a camera bag? It is when you end up using a lens changer bag. This bag is radical and it is practical. The whole concept is that a camera is meant to be OUTSIDE of a bag, as in shooting photographs, while the other lenses need to be protected and be immediately accessible.

When I upgraded from the much smaller Pentax gear to the Nikon D700 and FX-sized lenses, my prior camera bag soon became became too small and functionally impractical. At the same time, I didn't want to carry around a soft suitcase. This is where the Lens Changer concept comes in. Like all Think Tank equipment, the quality of workmanship is outstanding. Furthermore, even when carrying three heavy Nikon lenses, the very generously padded strap makes the task an ease.

Furthermore, I've been amazed how much the back pocket, etc. carries additional gear. However, if you believe in having it ALL with you whenever you go out, this bag is not for you. On the other hand, how much of the stuff does one regularly carry in a camera bag goes left untouched by months?

The Lens Changer approach makes me think about what I'm doing before I step out the door. A little planning can go along way in not only making sure one has the right equipment but also being mentally prepared for the shoot. I have yet to find the Lens Changer approach to be deficient compared to a conventional camera bag in handling the equipment I actually need, provided I take a moment to consider what I genuinely will need. The rest of the gear is kept safely in storage elsewhere until the next appropriate time. Meanwhile, carrying and easily ACCESSING/CHANGING large lenses during a shoot is remarkably easy. Moreover, one doesn't look like you are carrying a lot of gear (albeit, the camera itself is likely to be in main view.)

Like any other camera bag, this is not for everyone. Nevertheless, if ease of carry and quick (and quiet) access of large lenses is a matter of serious concern, I recommend this bag as a radical yet practical solution worthy of serious consideration.

This bag is perfect for working out of... it is not meant for storing all of your lenses and DSLRs but rather to quickly and efficiently change lenses on the go. Plus it's a lot better looking than the utility belt and lens pouch combo. The velcro silencers are very handy too.

Best Deals for Think Tank ~ Retrospective Lens Changer 3, Pinestone

My wife uses this for her weddings that she does, she uses it all the time and has essentially stopped using all her other bags. It's stylish and functional.

Honest reviews on Think Tank ~ Retrospective Lens Changer 3, Pinestone

I currently own the Think Tank Retrospective 10 camera bag and love it. But I recently purchased a couple of new lenses which made space inside my bag very cramped. Instead of buying the Retrospective 30 (larger version of my bag), I opted for the Retrospective Lens Changer 3 bag... and I'm very happy that I did! Now I have three options when I go on a shoot. I can use my Retrospective 10 if I plan to travel light (camera plus a lens or two), or I can use the Lens Changer bag if I want to use my camera on a strap and have three more lenses at my disposal, or I can carry both bags if I want to have all of my gear with me. This is much more versatile than having one large (heavy) bag to lug around.

As soon as I received this bag'g big brother, the 5263, I saw it was in no way built to be a "carry on" way too big and cumbersome. I immediately returned it and bought this one and haven't looked back since. I've used it to pack my camera, four lenses, iPad, 13" Mac Book Air, various chargers, flash, etc. with no problems. It fits under the seat of even the smallest regional jet. It is well built and the handle and wheels make it easy to haul between terminals, the car, and anywhere you have relatively flat ground.

I have used other Tamrac products in the past, one of which I took with me on my safari to the Serengeti National Park in Tanzania. It worked great. Although I just received the 5261, it is of the same quality and I will be using it next month on my vacation. It is a little pricy; However, I wouldn't have anything else.

I love the way this case looks: it reminds me of classic cameras from the 40's

I love the way it feels: heavy leather and fasteners

I even love the way it smells...

But it doesn't work-you have to remove the whole cover to use the camera. The screen is on the back of the camera, and that is blocked by the top part of the open case... and it is hard to put back because the screw doesn't line up easily.

Click Here For Most Helpful Customer Reviews >>

Loved the look of this camera case. Looks nicer than some other PU leather cases I've seen.

Too bad I am using the JJC auto lens cap attachment on my LX7. The lens cap is wider than the original housing for the lens on the camera body, and this camera case was designed with the original housing for the lens on the camera body in mind, so the diameter is insufficient.

Best Deals for MegaGear "Ever Ready" Protective Dark Brown Leather Camera Case

The actual casing material is bi-cast leather (google it) which looks and feels like leather because it's part leather. The neck strap is more like vinyl. The tripod mount hardware looks and feels cheaply painted with stainless steel coating. But don't get me wrong for $29 it's not a bad deal. If you want top notch quality case, there's Gariz. But cost is prohibitive, at least for me. Functionally the camera case is sufficiently protecting my LX7 when I put it in my messenger bag or sling over my shoulder when walking about. Aesthetically, I think it's retro super cool. I've had other people curiously asked me what's in the case. I'm keeping it.

Honest reviews on MegaGear "Ever Ready" Protective Dark Brown Leather Camera Case

This case looks very nice..."retro" and fits the camera very well. Unfortunately, it WILL NOT FIT the LX7 fitted with aftermarket Auto Lens Cap for PANASONIC LUMIX DMC LX7 LX-7, LEICA D-LUX 6 + MagicFiber Microfiber Lens Cleaning Cloth Auto lens cap. I received both items for Christmas, fit the camera in it's new case then put on the cap. Whoops...the case wouldn't fit anymore after the cap installation. : ( I feel the cap is a better option than the case, since we know how ridiculous and irritating the LX7's stock lens cap can be. I'll kept the case since it was a good price and I'd lose nearly half my money trying to return it. The bottom piece of the case stays on with a screw into the tripod mount on the bottom of the camera. The top of the case stays on with two side snaps that attach to the bottom and a snap under the lens area that closes it altogether. One downfall of this design is that you have to unscrew and remove the bottom piece of the case to access your battery and SD card. $20 well spent.

I just wanted a decent case for my LX7, and I was eying up this style. The Panasonic branded case was a little pricey, but these were in my range. I'm very picky about my cases (I hate PU "leather" products as a rule). I was pleasantly surprised by this one. It's a weird leather composite, but has the look & feel (and even a little smell) of real leather. It's pliable and fits the camera pretty well. The dark brown color is handsome, the stitching nicely done and the snaps are very secure. I didn't think I'd be this happy with it--I had planned on upgrading to a nicer case later. Now I don't think I will. The material used isn't any worse than the cheap leather they used in the '50s-'70s for this style camera case.

I only have two very minor gripes. The neck strap feels a bit cheap, though it's no more cheaply made than the one that comes with the LX7, and at least it matches the case. Also, the knurled screw that attaches to the tripod mount and keeps the case on is unimpressive (cheap metal, bad chrome finish) and not that easy to turn, though it is loosening up a bit. It does the job, and if anything else, it should be easily replaceable.

I was a little worried that the bottom half of the case (the part that screws into the camera) didn't quite fit the contours of the camera, but when I took it off again, I found I was actually able to form the sides and tighten the gaps around the camera body. The case took my sculpting nicely, and when I slipped it back on the camera, no more gaps! I also wasn't sure how it would look on my white LX7, but it looks fine.

Lastly, for the record, I am using a slim filter adapter with a UV filter and the replacement lens cap (which is thicker than the Panasonic lens cap). This all adds 10mm to the length of the lens. The case is a tight fit, but I was also able to use a smooth, round pen cap to press out the center of the case where the lens cover hit. It did free up a little extra space, since the case is pretty forgiving.

Definitely worth the price. I'm extremely happy with this case, and I'm sure once I break it in on my next vacation, it'll be even better.

Color is beautiful, delivery was quick, all was good for about three days of carrying this in my purse. Not talking about rough and tumble here...just normal activity...and the zipper is already pulling apart. No way would I dare clip this on my belt or loose anywhere. I would be terrified of losing my camera out of it. Such a shame, less than a month of use, and I already must replace it.

i bought this case for my samsung TL210 camera, and it fits just about, its a tight fit, but i guess that's how its supposed to be, it looks really nice, both the style of it and the color, but the only thing i was a little unhappy about was, that it has no extra pockets in the front, to like put the cable or something small, it just has the one big pocket for the camera, and that fits ONLY the camera and nothing more, so if your looking for a case to carry your camera with the cables and maybe battery's or something, then this isn't it, but if you just need a case for the camera itself, then this is perfect, cause like i said, its really nice looking

Pentax DSLR Crossover Bag
Customer Ratings: 4.5 stars

Well built w/ lots of little pockets everywhere and lots of padding in typical Lowepro style (since this is a clone of the Slingshot 100).

The thickness is *not* enough for a DSLR w/ BG as another poster mentioned, but the target usage is not for those users IMHO. It's for the first time DSLR buyer or someone who is minimizing weight for quick trip.

There's enough in the main compartment for a DSLR w/ kit lens or a small zoom (with my Sigma 17-70, I have to reverse the hood), and one or two primes. There's an area to the left of the DSLR that seems too slim to fit anything useful except for a few pancake lenses.

The top compartment is enough for another lens or a rocket blower or a flash and a quick snack. The outer compartment has lots of space for memory cards, white balance cards, notes, etc.

One nice thing about this bag is that it has a belt clip that can separate quickly so you can easily take it off. My Velocity 7x bag doesn't have this and taking it off inevitably knocks my glasses out of place when I have a winter coat on :-P

I'll take a few more pics and upload them in a bit since the amazon page doesn't have any useful pics.

I have used this bag as an everyday carryall for my K20D with a couple of lenses, the extra battery, cards, etc. If I intend to do some serious shooting and take along everything, it is too small. I used it yesterday for a hike in the woods where I did not think I would change lenses, but brought a zoom along just in case.

It was comfortable on and did not get in the way.

I bought this foam to use with the 1020 micro case. The purpose of the case is to house my camera during outdoor excursions. This foam is essential for this use because it makes the case nearly shockproof. With the foam I can close the camera in the case and hold it upside down while shaking it and it does not move. For under $6 that's cheap insurance. For anyone who has opposable thumbs and the ability to hold a knife without cutting themselvesyes I'm talking to the other reviewers because you're both moronsthis is an easy setup. Trace out your camera with a piece of cardboard. Use the cardboard as a template and cut the foam with an exacto-knife. This takes less than 10 min. and turns a good case into a great case.

This product adds a tremendous amount of protection to the contents of my Pelican case. Before I added the foam insert, my PDA would dangerously toss around within the case. First, let's describe what kinds of things i keep in my camera case.

I have my nikon d5100 and four lenses (18-55, 55-200, 50 prime pancake, and 10-20mm), two hotshoe off camera flashes, a flash sync cable, a ring light, a 5 in 1 reflector, multiple memory cards, three extra batteries for my camera, an extra set of batteries for my flash, a few filters in 52mm and 77mm, my battery charger for my camera, a three set of lens pens, a tide pen, a spray neosporin, hand sanitizer, 2 head lamps, a video light, a small flash light, a shutter sync cable, a wireless remote, and a few other small things are all kept in my camera case. This is almost all of my equipment. If found myself needing less equipment and more room, i'd leave out one of my flashes.

As an adventure girl, I tend to want to carry my gear into some tight places. Knowing full well how difficult it is to carry a vintage train case full of gear, which i had been doing, I decided to go and finally get a camera backpack.

I was hesitant to carry a camera bag with a brand name on it, and I didn't want to worry about not bringing all of my stuff when i needed it, but i knew i was going to go into caves where there would be a lot of crawling into tight places. As I prepared for this trip, I tried to remember everything i would need, and hope i had enough with me for some decent pictures.

Well, this was perfect. Other people crawling into this cave had brought bigger cameras, but mine, well I could push it ahead of me when i had to go some place really tight, but for the most part, it was always on my back. Nothing got scraped up, and everything was safe, even though i had my bag packed really tightly and I was banging into a lot of ceilings.

I'd recommend this for any other photo adventurer. You can fit a lot of stuff in here and still zip it up and count on it being safe. Would buy again in a heart beat.

I was looking for a convenient way to carry all of my camera equipment, and at an affordable price. For under $30 I decided to bite and see what I got (seeing as this had/has no reviews). I'm quite glad I did. For the price you get a nice little bag that comes with velcro inserts (so that you can move them around and adjust them to your liking) that are nicely padded to prevent your items from getting scratches. It says up to 8 lenses and camera, but that mileage my vary depending on the size of your camera and your lenses. I would say even with a pro dslr and a couple larger telezooms you could still get your camera and 5 6 lenses in the main compartment without a problem.

Above the main compartment on the opposite side of the bag are 2 mesh pockets for keeping cords, accessories, whatever. The mesh is a bit on the loose side (although not terribly so), so I wouldnt put anything you're TERRIBLY worried about possibly slipping out in there. On the front outside of the bag there is a rather large zip compartment to put other accesories as well that does its job. I really wish there was at least one more small compartment. Somewhere I can put my Memory cards and extra batteries that was small, secure, and not by everything else... and would be my only real gripe with this bag.

One lovely thing about this though are the straps on either side (so you can choose which side you'd like to put it on) for your tripod. I have a 6" tripod and it fits no problem, you just loosen the straps, set it in there, and then tighten it up and it holds it just fine. Now I have a rather lightweight tripod, so if you're carrying a heavy duty one im not sure how "off balance" having it on one side of you might make you feel, but I can only attest for what I have, and it works great.

The bag is made of a (what feels like, at least) sturdy material, and the weatherproofing looks nice (although if "shiny" materials arent your thing, which they arent really mine, it might take a little getting used to. Also, in the picture the bag looks black with grey accenting. The one I received is black with hunter green accenting. Im not sure if they all come this way or if its a random gamble or what. I dont mind the color so im not going to complain though.

Overall, great bag that could use a little improving here and there, but for its price you cant beat the value.

This is a great pack for the price, its pretty heavy duty and doesnt feel like its going to break at any time soon. There are a lot of different ways that you can make this pack to hold all of your gear. This is currently what I have in it:

-1 nikon d3100 camera body

-1 nikon d90 camera body

-1 18-55mm lens

-1 55-200mm lens

-1 18-200mm lens

-1 50mm lens

-1 external flash

-1 diffuser

-4 lens hoods

-1 battery grip

-1 battery charger

Filters and batteries

Everything fits in there great. The only thing I have a problem with is that the mesh pockets on the inside of the bag are a little lose so I dont really feel safe putting anything important in there. Currently its my business cards and a snack. The front pocket is pretty big it holds all my AA batteries and much more if needed.

I liked the bag's size, but when I put in on my back it was too puffy. I wanted a backpack small enough for my accessories, but not as big as a book bag. This bag had a lot of room for accessories but was to bulky for my taste.

I use this bag to haul around my Nikon D80 with the kit lens, along with charger cabling, etc. with plenty of room to spare. There are 2 internal compartments sized for SD card cases, 3 separate pocket areas in the front, and the usual Velcro type compartment arrangement for the camera and gear. I am told the case is large enough to accommodate the D80 with the 18-200 VR lens fitted as well, but I don't yet have that lens to verify it myself. The camera sits lens down in the compartment. The single zipper design makes for fast access and secure containment of your gear. There is also a built-in microfiber cloth, and the pull-over rain fly is a nice touch as well. The build quality is top notch, the only complaint I have is that once you remove your camera, the weight of the bag's flap is enough to make the bag fall over if you leave it open.

Just purchased this bag for my Nikon D90 with the 18-200VR lens. We wanted a compact bag for the camera with the walkabout lens, and I took a chance that this may or may not work. Wanted to let everyone know that it fits great along with a SB-600 inside as well. Not room for much else (could have a spare battery / memory card, if you carry those). Perfect bag for everyday use.

Best Deals for Lowepro Apex 140 AW Camera Case

I bought this from new egg for $20 on sale. The ultramarine blue color though. Product is really good.

I was able to fit in my Nikon D40 with 55-200mm kitlens attached on one side (kept in inverted position) and a 55-200mm Nikon Lens with hood and a SB400 flash on the other side. I have used only one internal cushion separator out of the two that came with it. I had space for a CPL filter in the side bag. I am happy that I am able to fit all my gadgets.

Cons. The shoulder strap that comes with it is designed such that for my convenient length I am not able to get teh shoulder cushion on my shoulder. But thats not even a negative point.

Honest reviews on Lowepro Apex 140 AW Camera Case

I ordered the Lowepro Apex 140 AW after reading several reviews here regarding the fit for a Nikon D90 with the 18-200mm zoom lens. When I received the package and opened it, I was concerned that this bag was too small. However, the previous reviewers were quite correct in that it is lightweight and does have ample room for a D90, 18-200mm lens (hood reversed), an SB-600 speedlight, and a few other small items. I don't have another small lens to put in the bag, but one may possibly fit. Instead I have two Sto-fen flash filters tucked along side my camera. This bag provides great protection for my gear, yet is small and light enough to carry all day anywhere. It has a loop to be worn on the belt, although I prefer a shoulder strap.

My criticism (and reduction of one star) is the strap. The quality of the strap is good and there is a nice movable pad on the strap. The problem is the strap is way too long. I'm six foot tall, 220 pounds, and if I extend the strap all the way the bag would be at my knees! Sure, you can shorten it, but that means sliding the buckle to double the strap back on itself. Since the buckle will not pass through the permanently attached shoulder pad, you have to slide the shoulder pad away from the buckle. This means the pad is no longer at the top of the arch of the strap and will not be on your shoulder. I'm going to have to take the bag to a tailor shop to have them remove about ten inches of strap and resew the loop to the buckle! I can't imagine this strap being suitable for anyone that is less than about 350 pounds. Maybe I just got the one with the long strap, but it is seriously lengthy. Otherwise, like I said earlier, the bag is a great day bag. I'd still buy it again for the price since I should be able to easily have the strap shortened.

I am thrilled with this camera case. I have a Nikon D80 and most frequently use an 18-135mm zoom lens which fits in here perfectly. There is also room for my 50mm fixed lens, flash, and lens pen. I even use this camera bag as my purse when traveling because the camera fits in it and my travel wallet fits in there, as well. I love the way it opens and it's design feels safe and secure.
