Nice & solid made case, but really big for my Sony camera(there is enough room for 2 cameras actually). I will keep it, of course for my canoe trips, but not for every day use out of my purse.

I had purchased a compact Panasonic DMC ZR1 and actually contacted LowePro for help. Emailed my camera dimensions and model. Got back 3 choices, which saved me going through the many choices they have. I then read the reviews and was grateful that people gave the camera models they had for the case in question. This helped me figure out how the inside dimensions would work with my camera. I could look up their camera and dimensions and work from there. By comparing their camera dimensions and comments on fit to mine I knew that this case was my best choice. BTW my camera dimensions are: 3 3/4" (W) x2 1/4" (H) x 1" (D). I took into account the zoom lens sticking out some and chose this case. Not too tight. Not too loose. Just right. Thanks to Lowepro for their help and to all the reviewers. A great case. Protects the camera and gives versatility with its carry options. Just right for my needs.

I purchased this as an add-on to my DR2-Slim Blackrapid strap. The Joey3, in comparison to the Joey1 and Joey2, is much more convenient in so many ways.

1) It uses a zip function compared to the velcro used by both the J1 and J2 (event photographers will not need to worry about the sound that the velcro makes)

2) There are compartments inside the pouch for memory cards and batteries, on top of the main compartment for the phone.

3) It attaches super easily to my Blackrapid strap, and at the same time, providing you with the added space for your small items.

I am using this in conjunciton with my RS-7 strap for my 60D. It easily holds a spare battery and a couple memory cards. It stays on the strap securely and doesn't seem to add any noticeable bulk or get in the way when the strap slides out of position. My personal preference for cell phones is 4"+ screen size so this is tight for those, especially since you'll probably want that spare battery in there. At $15-$18 I would have given 5-star still, but at over $20 it lacks the value for that last star.

If know you are going to buy a Joey and are just considering which one and your only concern is with adding weight/bulk I would just get the J3, it's barely noticeable on there and you get the extra space.

Like all the Blackrapid products I've tried, the Joey 3 is well-made out of quality materials. I have the RS-7 strap, and thought it would be helpful to have some extra storage for batteries and memory cards. The Joey 3 is big enough to fit several of those and more easily, but with one crucial flaw: once you put stuff inside of it, it makes the strap so heavy that it will slide off your shoulder when you lift your camera to your face. This happened so often that I was forced to remove it from the strap 10 minutes into shooting a wedding. I probably won't be putting it back on unless I pick up the extra strap attachment that goes under your arm.

Fortunately, the straps on the back of the Joey 3 seem fairly versatile, so I might be able to attach it to my belt or camera bag instead.

Review of Vidpro SLR Holster Camera Case/Bag for Canon EOS, Nikon, Olympus

I was looking for a holster style camera case for my EOS 5D Mark II, and this looked like it. It's well constructed, and carries well. However, it would only accommodate the smallest of my telephoto lenses. And I have to remove the diopter correcting eyepiece and cup and tuck it next to the lens, or the case won't zip closed. Want to pack any extras, like a spare battery, a filter or two? Forget it. The interior mesh pocket has no expansion room (unless you don't want the camera), and the two exterior mesh pockets are so snug, the best I could do would be a spare flash card or two. For a holster for casual shooting, I guess this is okay anything more serious (a bigger lens, more accessories), look elsewhere.

I did a lot of research on similar items and finally ended up buying this bag. Yes, this a best buy for the price you pay. I have got a canon rebel XS camera with 18-55 IS lens mounted onto it. This bag comfortably accommodates the camera with lens and has a nice padding inside. It also comes with a shoulder strap which is pretty good. In comparison with Nikon and Canon bags with logo, I find this one to be no less in terms of utility but far less in terms of price. If you don't have too many lenses; happy with a medium zoom lens and always want to have it mounted onto your DSLR; and want ease of access this is your right choice. Professionals look elsewhere.

I have a Canon EOS 50D, and was looking for a small case to protect the camera with a short zoom lens attached when I throw it into an ordinary day pack. All my other lenses and gear are stored separately in other cases, or stowed elsewhere in the pack. I was surprised at how hard it is to find such a case for a full-sized DSLR in today's marketplace.

With the kit EF 28-135mm zoom attached, the 50D is just a bit too large for this case. However, with my old EF 28-70mm f/3.5-4.5 II zoom attached, the fit is just fine, including the camera strap. This lens is about 3.25 inches long with filter and lens cap, so anything much bigger will probably not work for a camera of this size with this case.

Construction of is of a water resistant nylon shell, with padded interior. The base is sturdy and well padded. I have not tested the water resistance. For my purposes, the case should do just what I need it to do, and I am happy with the purchase.

Very good job of protecting camera. The only reason I gave it four stars was because I was a little leary about the sturdiness of the belt loop hook. That could just be my take on it.It may be rock solid. However I leave the zipper slightly unzipped so that I can hook the camera strap too as a precaution.

This case is hard enough to resist a lot of falls with the Zi8 inside (trust me, I've dropped my camera many times). INside there's enough space to hold my kodak remote control, 1 pair of extra batteries and the memory cards. I think this is perfect for my wife to carry in her purse.

I'm really pleased with this case. No, it's not real leather. But for the price you get a great looking retro-style case that protects the camera against the knocks of everyday carry. I like that the bottom half stays on the camera at all times. It protects the bottom and bottom front half of the camera, even when the top is detached for shooting. It also provides a very secure purchase on an otherwise slippery camera. With the bottom half attached, you won't feel the need for a third party stick-on raised grip to make the camera more holdable.

Downsides. You have to remove the bottom half from the camera to remove the batteries and SD card. This doesn't bother me at all, but I know it bugs some people. Just be aware of this. A bigger qualm, IMO, is that if you use the case's strap loops to attach your strap, the strap will abrade the camera's finish over time. That's because the loops are located at the upper edge of the bottom case. Once you remove the top cover in order to shoot, the upper half of the camera body is now exposed and the strap can rub against it.

This isn't a flaw of this particular case, but just about any case that has a lower half with strap loops and a detachable upper shell.

My solution was to forego the case's strap loops all together. Instead, I screwed a Blackrapid FastenR-3 to the tripod socket and attached a wrist strap to that. Another option is to use the little strap loops built into the RX100 body itself, and to use the little spaghetti strings that fit into those loops.

Also, keep in mind that this case style is meant to protect the camera from knocks and dings. Not so much against dust infiltration. By design, it does have some gaps, and dust can get though these. Whenever I put my camera into an unknown pocket (which can accumulate dust, grit, and sand), I also take the added precaution of putting the entire camera, case and all, into one of those drawstring microfiber pouches, the kind designed to hold ski goggles. Otherwise, I have a clean dedicated pocket in my backpack where I keep my camera.

I highly recommend this case if you're looking for retro-style case like this. I haven't tried them all, but this one is functionally as good as any other case of this type I've used, whether genuine vintage or retro-style (I did order another case of this design for around $26 from Amazon, twice what I paid for this one, and this one was better built and fit the camera more snugly). I do wish they offered it in a darker brown color, though. Otherwise, I consider this a really great case and a really great value, to boot. Highly recommended.

This was a real surprise.

I also ordered Sony's own case for the RX100, and while the design itself isn't quite as snug as Sony's own, it's close, and more importantly I was shocked to find this one of superior build quality (the cuts and the stitching). Any quality problems would also show more on this case, and it's much lighter colored, and thus, shows flaws more easily.

Shocking quality difference, considering this costs about a fifth of what the Sony case does. Whatever company made this, really did try harder. This case simply isn't the embarrassment the Sony case is.

Compared to Sony's own case -5 stars.

Compared to Leica, a good 3 or 3.5. The price would probably have to double or triple to get it even closer to Leica quality. (Which, if the manufacturer is reading this, would be OK with me, btw -I'd love a true Leica quality case for the teeny, powerhouse Sony!)

I'll average the two, and leave a 4.

Overall, highly recommended -especially for the insanely low price. If they were to do a redesign, a version 2, may I ask for a version whereby I can more easily keep the top on whilst shooting, and secondly, be able to access the SD card with the bottom still on? That would make a good case great. And, of course, my wet dream would be to have a much more expensive case that has true Leica like fit n' finish. Thanks,

This is an excellent case for the Kodak Easyshare Z990. It seems sturdy, well-padded and weather-resistant as advertised. It is very light weight and pretty compact considering the size of the camera. It has a central divider attached with velcro strips that can be moved/removed for a better fit or positioning of the camera. It also has some small additional storage pockets. I find that I am able to carry my charger and spare batteries in the case, which is convenient. It has a nice shoulder strap but I do not see a way to attach it to a belt. However, given the size of the case, wearing it on a belt doesn't seem to practical to me anyway. When I bought my case it was listed as a "Kodak Easyshare Max Z990 Digital Camera Case. I pointed out to the seller, East Coast Trading that the case and the packaging in which it arrived do not mention Kodak or any specific camera and that the invoice describes it as "Water Resistant Camcorder & Digital Camera Case." The seller was very responsive and said they would request that the listing be changed. I am very satisfied and recommend this case and seller.

My Kodak z990 fits well into the bag. There are several pockets for the camera accessories. I have not tested if it is waterproof. However, comparing it with "Case Logic DCB-304 High/Fixed Zoom Camera Case (Black)" , which a friend of mine has, this product is worse. This bag is more expensive and worse padded.
