This bag is perfect for my camera! It's not too bulky, but it's not too small. I've got room for my camera, charger, memory cards etc. The camera bag looks as if it cost much more than it really did.

GREAT DEAL! GREAT PRICE! FAST DELIVERY!

Nice size case for our FinePix Z20, but if we didn't watch how we put the camera in the protective netting, the lens cover would slide open, activating the battery. So now the camera rattles around the case. Not awful, just not snug.

The item has a hard case texture which is great because it gives a good protect for the camera instead of a soft covering. Love it.

Hard case, very nice quality, very well manufactured. Looks even better than in the pictures.

Quality case, but detachable carabiner and universal screen protector not received with item. Color ordered (Eva Magenta) is not as vibrant pink as shown. When telephoning re: carabiner and screen not received, service rep appeared young, and not informed, or readily able to grasp problem. Made much notice about extra 'wisdom/courage wrist band' sent with order, but not shown in advertisement (and of no interest or value to me). For price, plus shipping costs, plus hassle of trying to rectify order, could likely find similar quality item else-where at same or lower cost, without hassle.

This little case isn't hi-tech, doesn't claim to have mega storage space, and isn't packed with gel-molded camera fits. But, it's a great little case if you need something for a trip to the park or to the beach. If you want something for occasionally taking the camera out and about, this is a great buy!

Because it isn't a hard shell case, you still need to take care when lugging it around with you. Of course, it protects from scratches and light moisture, but if you're looking for a rugged case this is NOT your case. The description of this item is a "Hard Shell" and the only thing I can figure is that since it keeps its shape when the camera is not in use, that technically someone has called it a hard shell. Not exactly true: I can easily bend the exterior, so it's definitely not hard plastic and you should know that if that's the kinda thing you are looking to buy.

For me, this works perfectly and the reality of what it can and cannot do did not disappoint. I like that it is a simple case small, but also has a small inside pocket for extra SD cards. Its perfect and compact size lets me just slip it in to my purse and I know it won't get damaged if the camera rubs up against my keys or phone or something else in there. But, I'd definitely still keep it in my purse because it doesn't have my full trust behind it.

We've had two of these for one and the same camera. The only reason we had to buy the second one was because our relative's dog chewed the other one apart...however, THAT'S why we got another one: the Canon SD1000 inside of it only had one small dent in it...the case protected the camera so well that we still use the same camera years later. It's a tough little case--if your camera fits inside it, it's worth WAY MORE than the money you pay for it.

A nice feature inside the case is a little pouch for an extra battery...very handy. I'd like to see a small velcro for the pocket just to secure the battery a bit better, or make the pocket longer.

Also, the zipper is built to last.

Highly recommended!

This case is a perfect snug fit for my Canon SD1300. It fits like a custom made suit. It isn't often that a "generic" product has this kind of precision fit, and I ought to know, I am a custom furniture designer and precision is my life.

I like this case, it fits my Canon SD780IS camera perfectly.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program I have been a photographer for over thirty years and I was in the wholesale professional photographic equipment business for about twenty years. I now photograph wild birds in some of the harshest environments on earth so when I review an item like this I like to put it through the wringer. And that is just what I did.

First: I like the look and the basic design of the bag. The velcro for the top flap is really heavy duty. It is a good substitute for zippers IF you are using the orange bag inside of the case. The orange protection bag can be pulled out and the insert with the dividers can be reinserted without the water resistant bag. There is space for memory cards and filters just above where the top lid attaches to the case, but no where else. The backpack-type strap is unique and I liked it, although it took some getting used to. The interior space is surprisingly small considering the size of the bag. However, I don't believe that this was designed to be an "all-purpose" camera bag (as are most Tenbas and Lowe Pros). This was made for transporting equipment (photo or otherwise) into really wet environments. So that's what I tested it for.

I used the orange "bag" for all of the water tests. I stuffed the interior dividers with colored paper (I was not up for risking my own photo gear) that turns really dark when exposed to the slightest bit of moisture. Next, I took it outside and took out my garden hose and my trusty eight-way spray nozzle.

I started with the "mist" setting and held the nozzle just two feet from the bag and sprayed all around it for about 20 minutes. If you have ever been close to a great falls you have an idea of what I was testing for. The bag wipes off surprisingly well. The paper was completely dry. Success #1.

Second I used a setting that would simulate a pretty good rain storm. Since I have been caught in these many times with my own camera bag in the past (including in the rain forest of Peru and a down-pour in a South Florida that I thought would never end) I felt that one hour was just about the right amount of time. I noticed some water inside of the case itself but not inside of the orange bag. It was still dry inside. Success #2.

Now, I wouldn't have subjected the bag to this last test if it were not for the photo on the tag that showed the bag being submerged in water. I wanted to see how well the Camera Armor bag protected gear from an accidental fall into water. This has happened to me several times in my life and I have ended up damaging a Hassleblad, two Leicas and ruining a favorite view camera lens. Time for a dip in the pool!

I stood near the edge of the four foot deep part of a community swimming pool and imagined that I had a brand new Canon 50D (yet to be released at this time) and about $5000 in lenses in the bag. I "lost" my balance, fell into the water and immediately raised the bag out of the pool as quickly as I would have if it had been for real. Wow! No paper inside of the bag was even a little bit wet. However, if I had memory cards in the space that I think they were meant to be they would have been subjected to a drowning unless they were in their own little plastic cases. Success #3!

I took out the colored paper and stuck white paper inside it now. I took it to a dry field and almost covered it with dirt and sand. Again, the interior of the bag had dirt in it, but not the protective orange bag. Success #4. I was tired and gave up in any further torture.

This is a GREAT bag for what it is designed for and worth the cost. But I have to be honest and say that this model should not be considered a "Pro" bag. There just isn't enough room for even enough gear for a day trip. Also, it is hard to get in and out of when using the orange bag. Where I think that this bag fits in is as a way for adventurists to carry a modest amount of sensitive gear and protect it from getting wet or dirty. I could put a digital SLR with a zoom attached, a flash, a GPS and radio or two. Until it is available in a larger model I would suggest the pro gets an external cover for his/her existing case. If you think that you and your bag might get submerged carry your equipment in a Pelican case.

I give the Camera Armor 5 stars for water resistance and 3 for being a well thought-out camera bag, so 4 stars in all.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program

If you are carrying expensive camera equipment in unfriendly environments, this is the bag for you. For the 95% of us who don't, it's overkill and not very spacious.

Best Deals for MADE Products CA-2001-BLK Seattle Sling Waterproof Bag (Black)

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program This bag offers comprehensive protection for your gear. Starting from the inside...

The innermost piece is a removable box composed of soft felt padding. The box contains four dividers that are held in place by velcro. You can move the dividers around to fit your gear. Most camera bags have this feature.

Next is a heavily plasticized bag that closes with a folding flap. This bit seems very waterproof. You can remove this if you like. It secures to the outer part of the bag with three webbing/buckle bits.

Finally, the outer bag. It is padded. It secures with velcro. Lots of velcro. Noisy velcro. No webbing/buckles are used to secure the lid.

The outer bag has a large flap to hold a tripod. It secures with two webbing/buckle bits. There is room for a fairly large tripod here.

The bag has a clever system for slinging onto your shoulder. It features a large padded strap that goes across your chest, and a small strap. It took me a while to figure it out. I like to put it on like this:

1. Unfasten the small strap.

2. Sling the large strap across my chest.

3. Fasten the small strap.

There is a maneuver that should be used to access your gear. While you are hiking through the woods, the bag is on your back, like a mountaineering pack, in a vertical configuration. You can

1. Unfasten the small strap.

2. Loosen (lengthen) the large strap. Do it now, while the buckle is easy to reach.

3. Slide the bag around to your stomach. It is now in a horizontal position, and you can look down on the opening flap of the bag.

At this point, both your hands are free to open the bag. This involves

1. Open the velcro flap. This is loud, so forget about sneaking up on wildlife here. Conveniently, the flap opens away from your body, revealing a large opening that faces straight up. Your gear won't fall out.

2. Unfasten the three webbing/buckle bits that secure the waterproof bag.

3. Unroll the waterproof bag. You are now looking straight down at your gear, nestled in the padded dividers of the bag.

The above maneuver can be safely done while standing knee deep in a sea of mud. You don't remove the bag from your torso.

Everything I see on this bag seems to be well thought out, well built, very nice! There is an outside panel that rests on your back when you are carrying the bag. This panel has padding and ventilation like a soft mountaineering pack. There are several loops of webbing on the outside of the bag for lashing on gear. All of the webbing/buckle bits are large and strong.

The only reservation I have regarding this product is that the user should determine that he really needs this level of protection. It is obvious to me that the bag offers superb protection against shock and penetration, dust and dirt. I believe that the bag offers superb protection against water and mud, although I have not tested this! However, this bag is somewhat large and heavy. In fact, I would estimate that the outside of the bag occupies somewhere between two and three times as much volume as the amount of gear that can be stowed inside. Finally, there are no outside pockets to this bag that would allow rapid access to small items.

All of the disadvantages listed in the previous paragraph are a direct result of the high level of protection that this bag offers. These are not design flaws, these are what you get. If you need a lot of protection, this bag rocks.

Honest reviews on MADE Products CA-2001-BLK Seattle Sling Waterproof Bag (Black)

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program I've never met a professional or hobbyist photographer who didn't have a collection of camera bags and was always on the hunt for the "perfect" bag. Well, the perfect bag doesn't exist, that's for sure. But many bags fit some needs perfectly and the Seattle Sling Waterproof Bag falls squarely in this category.

If you've ever tramped around in the hinterlands of Washington, Oregon or California, you'll instantly understand the beauty of this bag. Same is true if you're on the other side of the continent in the mountains of New Hampshire. In fact, any place where you and nature's elements sand, water, rocks, dirt come together, the Seattle Sling will be a very welcome companion.

The manufacturer, Made Products, earned its reputation with Camera Armor, an encompassing silcone cover for many professional and prosumer DSLRs, like the Nikon D80.

The first thing you'll notice about the Seattle Sling are the orange tabs that come out from under the top into snap clips. When you open the bag, you'll see that the orange tabs are just the hint of a sealed seam sturdy Velcro-sealed vinyl-like pouch that completely surrounds the padded compartment that holds your camera, lenses and accessories. This bag closes with a roll-over and fold-over cover to form a very water-resistant, if not truly waterproof, barrier. The top of the case then folds over the waterproof bag and seals with enough Velcro to carpet a small room. It is very secure. I'm not about to load it with my cameras and drop them into nearby Lake Michigan to test it out. But it sure looks like it would protect my gear for at least long enough for me to retrieve it . . . if I can.

In an area with sudden rainstorms like the Northwest, the Seattle Sling is a welcome addition. The outdoor photographer anywhere will appreciate this bag in snow, early morning dew, nearby surf and sand. It's really a terriffic idea.

The storage compartment will comfortably hold a DSLR with a long zoom, an additional lens or two and an external flash unit. A smallish side pouch with web pockets can hold filters, extra batteries, flash cards, a manual (!). remote release, but not too much more.

There are four loops on the outside of the case that might be used to hold longish objects, like perhaps a QuikPod DSLR Handheld Convertible Tripod.

The front side has a flap and buckle arrangement which will securely hold a fairly hefty tripod.

The outer bag is made of some kind of man made material with padding between the layers.

Every aspect of the bag exhibits very good design and excellent manufacturing processes. It really a nice piece of design and very well made.

It has an over-the-shoulder carrying strap. Hand Made Products' attention to detail is evident in the small security strap that wraps under your arm to secure the main strap and keep shifting to a minimum. If you've even been trying to get down a steep slope and had a bag shift on your shoulder, you'll know how much a security strap like this is great to have. Its inclusion also demonstrates Hand Made's design prowess and attention to detail.

Overall, I think it is more comfortable than a backpack.

With a full kit of camera, accessories and tripod, the bag is suprisingly well balanced slung across the back. There is additional padding to ease the pressure on your back.

Is this bag perfect? No. There is, alas, no such thing as a perfect bag.

But the Seattle Sling has fewer drawbacks than many other camera bags.

The biggest problem lies in its biggest strength: the waterproof envelope. Unfolding it is a kind of slow process, not burdensomely slow, but slow enough to make rapid changing of lenses impossible. Thus, this is not the bag to use when you're shooting sports or any other event where you want to be able to change lenses in a flash.

The Seattle Sling is somewhat on the small side and not suited for those who feel the need to carry a half-dozen or more lenses, multiple external flashes and the like. But the Seattle Sling is not designed for those people it is designed for people going into places where there may be water, sand, dust, mud and all those other things dangerous to cameras.

It will carry what you need for a trek in the woods, a photo walk down the shore, a day of shooting flowers without breaking your back in a very secure weather and environment proof bag.

All in all, the Seattle Sling is a very well designed bag for its purpose and I suspect many photographers will immediately see its place in their kit.

Jerry

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program 95% of photographers wouldn't need this bag. Unless you plan to carry your gear under Niagara falls or deep inside the Amazon rain forest, this bag is useless to you.

I have never seen camera bag built this tough. No chance for any water to get in, or out for that matter thanks to a thick red plastic liner. It also weight a ton with limited carrying space. The strap is also strange and it is hard to wear it on your shoulder. You can remove the liner and use it as a regular bag, but what's the point? There are other better bag out there for everyday's use.

So, this is really for special applications.

Kata DR-467i Digital Rucksack -Green Review

Kata DR-467i Digital Rucksack -Green
Customer Ratings: 4.5 stars
Buy Now
First, be sure that you purchase the 467i and not the plain Kata 467. The "i" is for "improved" and Kata has added some useful features to the 467 which I believe makes this backpack the best one of this size. I don't believe another brand backpack with these same features exist...at least not for this price. I've never owned a Kata bag before, but I was familiar with their build quality and knew that they offer features that are well thought out. Currently, I have been through a total of four previous DSLR camera bags and I've finally found a keeper!

Features that sold me on the Kata 467i:

1. The Kata "Insert Trolley" slot for securing (sliding over) your carry-on luggage handle through while traveling.

2. Tripod/monopod/umbrella/water bottle lower mesh holder and upper securing strap

3. Lightweight (3.7 lbs) and high quality materials used throughout.

4. Bright yellow interior (every compartment, even the laptop area) for easily locating bag contents.

5. Top accessible laptop storage is much better than side accessible lap top storage (Lowepro FP 250). I no longer need to lay my bag on its side to get to my lap top. This Kata easily fits my HP DV6 16.5" laptop.

6. Center chest strap to relieve some of the weight from your shoulders

7. The padded floor of the top compartment unzips and folds up, allowing access to the lower camera compartment. This is great for accessing your camera when space is a concern. (coach airline seating)

8. Does not have the typical huge hip/waist belt to get in the way and dig into your back when its not being used (99% of the time), just a simple nylon strap and clips instead.

9. Rain cover is included.

10. The top handle is awesome and very comfortable carry when not having this strapped to your back.

Update:

It has been a couple weeks after purchasing this bag and I am still extremely happy with it. Now I should probably list what camera gear I normally fit into this. Nikon D90 with MB-D80 grip mounted to a Nikon 50mm 1.4 prime. Alongside that I have a Tokina 11-16 2.8 and Nikon 35mm 1.8 prime. This all fits in the lower camera compartment. A Nikon 70-200 2.8 (inside the Nikon zipper case) fits snugly in the top compartment parallel to the ground. There is a little room to spare on the top of this compartment too. After all that, there is still room for miscellaneous things like a small rocket blaster, small table top tripod, SD cards etc. in the front zipper pockets. I hope this helps!

Update 9 months later:

Still going strong. Since my last review I have sold the D90, MB-D80 grip, and 11-16 Tokina. Now using a D700 (no accessory grip) and 16-35 f/4. The 16-35 fits perfectly in the bottom side partition, and the D700 attached to 50mm f/1.4 fits with room to spare in bottom main compartment. Still an excellent backpack and highly recommended.

Why the DR-467i: I was looking for a bag that could hold more accessories for long trips or a hike than my smaller sling bag. I don't own many lenses, so I knew I didn't need a bag that could hold a million of them. I also wanted to be able to carry an iPad. I purchased the Kata 3N1-22 ($120) first because it had the convenience of a sling bag that could also be worn as a backpack. However, I found it to be too deep for the compact Pentax K-x and regular lenses. My gear was able to jiggle around too much. The top compartment was surprisingly small for such a hefty bag. This was due to an inefficient use of space in the lower compartment, imo. It wasn't very easy to access some things, either. I then decided on the DR-series. I got the DR-467i ($80), in particular, because it could also fit my 17" MBP, and the "i" (improved) version holds a tripod on the side. I've decided this bag is a keeper, so here's my review.

First Impressions: In contrast to the 3N1-22, I was pleasantly surprised at how much storage space this bag has outside of the camera compartment while retaining a slim profile overall. Like any Kata I've handled, the build quality of the bag is exceptional and the brightly-colored interior makes small items easy to find, any debris easy to spot, and is soft, smooth, and protective. The zippers and tabs seem to be durable. It's easy to swing the bag around one shoulder to your chest and not difficult to access your camera from there. The bag also sits freely upright on the ground, so there's no need to lay it in the dirt when you take it off.

Lower compartment: This camera compartment fits 4-5 loose lenses and a body with lens. I don't have that many lenses so I keep the included Kata rain cover in this compartment, as well as spare batteries, charger, and my PS camera. The dividers are, of course, rearrangeable and of nice quality. When fully unzipped, this compartment pulls out far enough to be perpendicular to the bag, safely allowing you to access your camera gear with the bag laying flat, should you choose to. This compartment is also removable, allowing you to transform the bag from a camera bag into a regular one. It fits my K-x nicely.

Upper Compartment: They top compartment is spacious. You can fit several bottles of water in here! If you don't have that much to carry, the pull straps will compress the bag so that nothing bounces around inside. This compartment has a few organizer pockets, and it can easily fit an iPad in landscape or portrait.

Middle Compartment and Pockets: There's also a middle compartment that has a good bit of room. This is where I keep my cleaning supplies, including a big rocket blower, and there's room for more. The outer pockets on either side of the zipper for the middle compartment can hold extra batteries, memory cards, and filters. I have a few filters in individual cases in one and my IR remote and extra SD cards in the other. There are no dedicated card or filter holders on the bag, but these pockets work well enough.

Tripod Holder: There's nothing special about the tripod holder, but it is nice that you can conceal it when not in use. The mesh pocket that holds the feet stows away into a zipped pocket, and the strap that holds the top of the tripod is easily removable. I would prefer the strap to have a buckle, but I guess Kata was afraid of it coming off while you're using the tripod if you don't re-buckle it. The mesh pocket can also hold a water bottle when you're not carrying a tripod, however, Kata failed to include this mesh pocket on the other side, which would've allowed you to carry a water bottle AND tripod.

Laptop Compartment: Pretty straightforward. The manufacturer's description indicates that this bag will fit most 15" laptops, however, it does fit my 17" MacBook Pro quite well. The front and back of the compartment is safely padded. You can fit a hydration system in here, too.

The Back of the Bag: The back is comfortable when you're wearing it, although the shoulder straps could use some more padding. I bought some dark-grey sheepskin seatbelt covers to use on them. You might be okay with them, though; my shoulders got ripped up in the Army, so they're more sensitive to packs. The straps have a metal ring on each, made for Kata's Reflex E camera strap. The Reflex E can snap to the rings on the bag so that you don't have to wear the camera around your neck. The back has Kata's trolly loop, too, that they call InserTrolly. The waist strap is simple and effective. I've felt no need to have a padded one. Kata included an elastic strap-keeper on the waist belt but nowhere else. Needless to say, strap-keepers on the rest of the straps would have been nice. This bag is compatible with Kata's EPH system that allows additional bags to be attached to this one. There are four nylon loops on the bottom made for this. I wish Kata had placed these loops further back towards the center on the bottom of the bag, though, because they dig into my back if I don't flip them out first. They're all right if I make sure I flip them back. There's also one of these loops on the top near the carry handle.

Rain Cover: The included rain cover fits very well. It is secured around each shoulder strap by velcro taps. Although these velcro tabs are thin, they appear to do just fine. The cover is easy to get on and off, as well as stow back into itself. I have not tested it in a downpour, but I'm sure it's better than nothing, at least.

Conclusion: With only a few minor shortcomings, this bag's pros heavily outweigh the little cons. For anyone who isn't carrying a boatload of lenses but needs the option of packing for travel, hiking, or a long shoot, including a laptop and tripod, I think you'll be happy with the Kata DR-467i backpack.

I uploaded several pictures of the red DR-467i on its product page: .

Honest reviews on Kata DR-467i Digital Rucksack -Green

I was searching for the perfect versatile backpack...and this one is close. There is a lot to like about this bag. This is the 467i which is the improved version of the Kata KT DR-467 Digital Rucksack (Black). With the current rebate that is being offered for the 467i there is no reason, not even price, to purchase the Kata KT DR-467 Digital Rucksack (Black). The main "improvements are that the bottom camera padding can be removed and the center divider ripped out. This turns it into a regular backpack for when you are not planning on carrying all of your camera gear and are only tossing in your point and shoot. The other improvement is the mesh bag and strap which is designed to hold your tripod (As shown in the picture. Here the idea was good, but the execution was lacking. I will explain in detail what was lacking and what I have done to work around the issue.

WHAT TO LIKE

There is a whole lot to like about this bag. I was looking for a do it all bag. I wanted one that was large enough to carry 2 SLR bodies with battery grips attached and a variety of lenses, carry my 15" Macbook pro, have room for lunch and a couple of other things, have a way for carrying a tripod, be extremely durable, be comfortable and be less than $100. Additionally I wanted a rain cover...but figured I would purchase that separately.

The Many Good aspects of the 467i

1. Although when I first unpacked this bag I was disappointed at how narrow the bag was. I figured it would not fit all I wanted. When I opened the bottom section (camera compartment) it did not open very wide and I figured it would be a real pain to get the camera in and out of it. After pulling this section open and reclosing it several times it loosened up and seemed to fall out better giving good access to the compartment. What do I have it this compartment? 1 SLR with battery grip and 75-300mm zoom attached. Tamron 90mm macro lens with hood on, 380 EX flash, 50mm prime, set of 3 extension tubes, 18-55mm lens, 3 extra batteries. It is all easily accessible.

2. The computer pouch is very nice and easily accepts my 15" Macbook pro. It looks like it could probably handle the 17" version, but as I do not own one I have no way to test that. I feel confident my laptop is well protected.

3. The upper compartment has enough room to hold a second SLR, lunch, and a few other odds and ends. There are little pockets for other items. There are places for pens, a small notebook etc. I have one minor gripe in this section which I will address lower down.

4. This does have a strap for carrying a tripod, but his area is lacking. Please see next section.

5. The case is very durable. This is my second Kata bag and one of the things that I think they do best. Very sturdy. You know your gear will be well protected in this bag.

6. Comfort is quite reasonable, especially when you do not have it filled with everything you can fit in it. It does get heavy when fully loaded, and the waist strap is pretty worthless...also see next list.

7. The value of this bag is incredible. I was searching for a bag for under $100 and found this (with the rebate) for under $80!!

8. Bonus this comes with its own rain cover. No need to wonder if you ordered the right size for your bag!

My Minor Gripes with the 467i

1. I previously owned another Kata bag and the interior was such that you could put dividers in any position as the Velcro would attach anywhere to the yellow liner. I erroneously assumed this would be the same way. While the bottom compartment you are able to rearrange. The top compartment is lined with a smooth material that Velcro does not attach to.

2. The mesh bag for putting tripod legs in is too small. My tripod is only slightly longer than the one pictured but does not fit. I am able to get only 2 of the tripod feet in the mesh bag, and that is fully stretched. Even when I only put one foot in the mesh bag it is still difficult to remove the tripod. This is because the mesh catches on the leg release latches on the tripod. Basically this was a nice thought but does not work practically. I now use the mesh bag to carry a water bottle. The biggest water bottle I am able to carry is an 8 oz. Don't even dream of putting in a normal 16 oz. bottle. I have found a way to carry my tripod. I move it to the other side of the bag (this allows me to use the mesh for water bottle, plus the tripod on the other side balances better when only slinging this on my right shoulder) I take the strap on the side of the bag and slip two legs through it and then move the top strap and put it through the handle and tie off the top. This works much better than how they designed to carry a tripod.

3. My final gripe is that the waist strap is just a one inch thick strap that does not really help in carrying. Once this bag is fully loaded it is heavy and if you are hiking any distance it is nice to have a waist strap that helps support the weight. This strap has no padding and being so thin it just cuts into your waist. I had read elsewhere that it was removable, which I like, I just did not realize that it was completely worthless and should just be permanently removed.

QUICK SUMMARY

This is a durable bag with a lot of good features. It is an excellent value for the money. It does almost everything one could ask for, but it has some small design flaws that could be improved to take this bag from almost outstanding to truly outstanding. If those items were fixed I would take this from 4stars to 5 stars. I hope my experience with this bag will help you make an informed decision on your purchase.

PRO:

Exceptional quality, especially for the price. I don't know why, but similar bags, from other manufacturers, that offer comparable storage space typically cost 2 3x as much as this back pack. At sub-$100, this bag is a steal.

KATA makes good use of the space and the camera compartment can be removed to convert the bag into a "normal" back-pack. That being said, I don't think the rucksack will quite cut it as a school bag, per se, as the main storage compartment is still divided into two separate segments, not really making it possible to store text books or binders. But the digital ruck-sack definitely serves its purpose as a camera/laptop bag.

Well done, Kata.

CON:

I wish the rain cover wasn't gold, or was at least reversible with a "quieter" or more neutral color on the other side (like gray or black). I'd prefer not to walk around with a giant golden marshmallow on my back. It's a bit of an eyesore. :)

It would also be nice if they found a way to integrate/attach/conceal the rain cover onto the exterior (top) of the bag, like the hood of a raincoat/windbreaker is typically concealed into the jacket's collar... rather than storing it in a pouch inside the bag.

OTHER:

I can't really comment on its durability or build quality, as I've only owned the bag for a couple of days. I'm a little nervous about storing my camera and lenses at the bottom of the bag... as the bottom of a bag always absorbs the impact of a drop, but the camera "tray" seems pretty thick and reliable. Just be sure to have your lens caps with you.

The bag was shipped well, with each compartment stuffed with airbags to keep the bag "inflated", rather than folded, wrinkled and compressed to fit in a smaller box. Sure, the shipping box was huge because of this, but it was nice to not have to "break-in" the bag to get rid of that "new" look.

UPDATE (06/12/2010):

Bonus! I was wrong about this bag's ability to convert to a regular back-pack. Both the camera compartment and accessories compartment above it can be removed. I didn't notice the accessories compartment was held in place by zippers.

I should have paid closer attention to the product description because there is nothing leather about this product. Also, the strap is supposed to be adjustable but there's no way to adjust because the clamp for the strap only tightens when you push the button in, otherwise it is open and slides when you were the case with the strap. Makes no sense to me why they designed it this way. This is way overpriced for what you get. Just buy one of the cheaper cases for your camera.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program This review is for the VANGUARD ADAPTOR 46 Daypack (which, in my opinion, is the nicest of the four sizes).

I've used various Lowepro bags in the past, most recently a Lowepro daypacker, and I've always been able to make things work, but I never realized what I was missing until trying this out.

PRO:

This bag can either be a backpack or a sling. When in sling mode, you can easily slip it under your arm and across your body to quickly access your camera. What's nice is that your camera is easy to grab and the opening sits upright, meaning that you can rest your camera without worrying about it falling out.

Waterproof zippers

Hidden backpack cover for when the rain really starts falling

Hidden tripod or monopod cover that holds your tripod upright and holds the foot at the base of the bag so it isn't constantly knocking on the backs of your legs.

Roomy compartments, including two side compartments and a big top compartment.

Plenty of clips, straps, etc. to keep your stuff tidy and safe.

Small flap pocket to hold your bitty things.

Price excellent for the quality, just as good as any other bag I have tried.

Pocket to hold a small laptop or tablet (even when the bag is full).

CONS:

Doesn't have a built-in liquor cabinet. It's the only thing I've found myself needing that this bag doesn't have.

COMMENTS:

I managed to fit two camera bodies with attached lenses (one zoom, one standard) and 3 unattached lenses in the bag, along with piles of film, filters, air blowers, tripod heads, etc. If you want, you can store lenses hidden in an inside layer in the bag, depending on how you set the velcro adjustable padded compartment separators.

The Adaptor 48 was missing all

the useful features...e.g. Quick Access, Laptop compartment...Bummer. Vanguard needs to be more clear about this. Returned the 48 for the 46. They are the exact same size except the 46 has about 3/4" more (depth wise) for laptop compartment.

Adaptor 46

PROS:

Quick access, 13" laptop compartment, fits Pro DSLR with a prime lens attached. The quick access compartment will fit 4 extra small prime lenses OR 2 standard zoom lenses (without hoods) OR one extra small lens and 2 Speedlites. Plenty of room as a daypack, sits on your back comfortably as a backpack. Sturdy construction. Laptop compartment can double as a water bladder compartment.

CONS:

Price, Small upper compartment (might not be a con), No rain cover...what!? Vanguard stamped this bag with "weather proof" not sure what that means but I would only risk my gear in a light drizzle with this bag. Quick access is not so quick...I had a hard time arranging the dividers to fit my 1Ds and 24-70 lens. Once I figured that out (took a while) I couldn't get my camera out as quick as the guy in the vanguard videos which leads me to believe that he had no other gear in that bag and had practiced those moves a lot. When wearing as a sling the strap will make its way up towards your neck.

Overall, this is a small bag suitable as a daypack in good/fair weather.

I am happy with the bag however since it does not come with a rain cover and because of the price I can't recommend it.

Vanguard, Listen up!

This bag is probably smaller than what it appears in the picture with the girl wearing it on her back. The interior has a collapsible divider that separates the top 1/3rd from the bottom 2/3rd. Collapsing the divider, which is secured with Velcro, provides you access vertically to the whole bag. The bottom comes with more dividers that allow for horizontal access to your camera and a lens, but because of the design, accessing one does not provide you access to the other without rotating the bag back the other way. This can be seen as a plus since you can whip out your camera and not have your additional lens slide out with it.I wanted to use this bag to transport my camera, two additional lenses, some cleaning accessories and a tablet. Unfortunately, my tablet, a Toshiba Thrive that measures 11" x 7.5" x 1" inside of its case, wouldn't fit in the bag no matter how I tried. The width at the top of the bag is just narrow enough to not allow my tablet to slip in. Unfortunately, due to its size, it also looks like a little man-purse. So I returned it but can't ding it because it did seem to be good construction and decently designed. For a more spacious bag, I would recommend looking at the Adaptor 45 or 46.

Honest reviews on VANGUARD ADAPTOR 41 Camera Daypack

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program I'm reviewing the Vanguard Adapter 46 backpack. This is a complicated backpack with lots of different options to help customize it for you and your gear. You can configure the straps so you use only one strap (either one) or both at the same time. This bag holds a lot of gear, so I choose to use both straps in a standard backpack configuration. There is a medium sized compartment at the top to hold loose items like a jacket or your lunch or misc photo gear. The main part of the pack is the lower half, which is accessed only from the sides, not the front like most backpacks. There are lots of movable dividers to you can set up this space in lots of different ways, depending on the size and amount of gear you are carrying. I could fit my SLR with one lens mounted, 2 more lenses in separate compartments, and a couple of flash guns. Slide the bag on to one shoulder and you can easily access your gear without putting the backpack on the ground. There are zipper openings on both sides of the bag or you could arrange the dividers to make all your gear accessible from one side.

This bag has so many options that you really need to try it out for yourself to see if your gear will fit and if you can use it easily. Same goes for any camera backpack. I found it to be comfortable, easy to use (once I set it up), and sturdy.

My main disappointment is that there are no external lashing straps to attach a tripod. There is also no pocket for a water bottle, though there is a small strap on the side where you could clip on an water bottle pouch. I don't want to carry a water bottle inside the pack with my gear.

Excellent product, I am totally satisfied with it.

I chose this one after a thorough research of various models, and I am 100% satisfied with my choice.

Great construction, has ALL the features I wanted (was hard to find them all in one bag):

Optional sling/backpack use

Side quick access

Being able to host Nikon D5200 with 55-300 lens on camera (hood must be reversed, but I'm OK with that)

Laptop compartment for 13" ultrabook

Raincover

Good tripod holder

Feels very sturdy and light at the same time, excellent protection on every side.

A big bonus is that all internal divisions are removable (even the one that separates top and bottom comparment) allowing to be used for other stuff as a normal bag.

Other pros: bottom is waterproofed and the bag stands vertical on its own.

As an improvement it could certainly use a couple of pockets on the upper compartment for smaller items, I will have to find a small pouch or similar for this. Not a big issue.

Another plus would be one or two additional dividers, but is has quite enough, for my distribution one or two more would be good.

Have used the bag only a couple of times for short time, but feels very sturdy and looks as it will last long.

UPDATE: Just in case, this review is for the Adaptor 46 model (website shows this information but Amazon App for Android doesn't)

I have the same problem that all complaints on this review states. I also ordered this and was dupped that I only got the top cover. After reading the reviews thoroughly I found matching cases and model numbers all available at amazon.

This molde is for the NEX 5 (THIS ONE USES THE BODIES CAMERASTRAP SINCE THE BASE JUST OVERLAPS IT.

LCS-EMB1A/B BASE

LCS-EML2A/B LENS

This is for the NEX 5N This is what I am going to go with. About $80 for the seT AND THIS ONE LOOKS MORE CLEANER.

LCSEB50/B Base

LCSEL50/B Lens

I hope this helps others trying to get this figured out. Since this case populates the search for NEX 5n cases on amazon and does not populate all the other cases. I would also recommend going to sony's camera site and go into accessories page to find the correct model numbers for your camera then search for it on amazon that is what I did. Mystery of the mismatch cases solved.

I wasn't sure I really needed this item, but am very happy with it. It does slow you down changing batteries, and it does make it a little more difficult to reach the bottom button on the rear control panel, but it really feels good in your hand, and makes the camera seem less likely to get damaged.

Of course the rear controls are easy to activate accidentally, so the case actually reduces that somewhat.

I also like the fact that the strap goes out from the rear, so the camera hangs with lens down, rather than facing out (of course with a zoom lens, that is how the camera will hang, but the body strap connections have the strap coming off the top).

It is a little expensive for such a small item, but I like the feel and the increased protection.

Best Deals for Sony LCSEB50/B Custom Leather Body Case for Alpha NEX-5N Camera

I bought this for my silver Sony NEX-5N camera. The camera is well cushioned and the swivel LCD screen is not impaired in any way. The camera looks a bit bulky and the fit on the sides not as snug as I wanted it to be. Of course you have to remove it any time you want to download the pics and I am a bit concerned about the wear of the screw. Even though the product is sold as "Custom Leather Body Case", it is actually made of good old vinyl acetate.

Honest reviews on Sony LCSEB50/B Custom Leather Body Case for Alpha NEX-5N Camera

Gives the 5n a much needed improved grip. Love it. High quality for the price. I may even buy another to have as backup.

Fits nicely, looks expensive. Simple screw into the bottom of the nex 5n, and increases your grip on your camera. like one reviewer said though, it doesn't have cut outs for the camera strap buckles, rather the case has strap buckles of their own. Not a huge deal, but would have definately looked nicer with the cutout.

I would recommend this product.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program Please take a look at images I uploaded to the product page on this well-made case that offers superior protection against bumps and drops. This case will accommodate cameras measuring (L)3 5/8 by (H)2 1/2 by (D)1 1/8 inches in dimensions. The best design full length zipper opening with elastic hinge supports (so that the two halves won't open too wide when you unzip the case).

The camera should be inserted into the case with its LCD screen facing the plush fabric surface half. The front of the camera will then face the other half of the case that has the super-tough EVA shell to protect against crush and drop.

I STRONGLY suggest that you tether the wrist strap of the camera to the ringlet on the case, so that they are always together. When taking pictures, while holding the camera with your right hand, you should hold the case with your left hand. If someone accidentally bumps into you and causes you to drop the camera, it won't fall to the ground because the case is tied to the camera. I had saved my camera from destruction numerous times this way.

I like this case very much because it offers great protection without the bulk of other cases. If your camera is the same or smaller than the aforementioned dimensions, this is an excellent case to consider.

Click Here For Most Helpful Customer Reviews >>

We ordered this case with the intention to use it with my HTC HD2 phone, paying special attention to the dimensions advertised in the product description, which would have certainly accommodated my phone. We discovered when the product arrived that the actual product dimensions are dramatically smaller: (internal) 4.25 inches x 3.25 inches. Possibly 1/4 inch could be squeaked out of this case in length and width if one is willing to stress the zipper. It turns out that the dimensions given were including the cardboard packaging attached with the product.

Apart from this very frustrating point, the case itself is remarkable. We own several cases from Case Logic, and we are very happy with the lot of them. This particular case would exceed our expectations in many regards. The main compartment is lined on the belt-clip side with a material that is very soft and it resembles fleece (though I assume it is a material which does not build up a charge). It should be noted that the belt-clip side is not rigid.

The opposing side of the case is pretty rigid, comparable to a guitar case which would come with a typical acoustic guitar. It could accurately be described as semi-rigid: it is flexible enough to endure wearing on a belt, while also being stiff enough to offer protection against bumping at speeds and force typical of the average person's gait. This feature is further strengthened by the (canvas-like) polyester exterior, which also features a fixed strap that is identical to that which one will find used for a seat belt in any modern passenger vehicle. The detail absolutely helps improve the overall strength and durability of this case.

If only the advertised dimensions had been accurately portrayed, I would have been extremely happy with this product.

Best Deals for Case Logic QPB-201 EVA Molded Compact Camera Case (Black)

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program We have a couple of Canon ELPH cameras, and have been using various cases for them, including a really nice one from Crumpler. I always love the simple, clean lines of Caselogic products and this one is no exception. The case itself is very good quality, with a nice plush finish on the interior to protect those delicate (and scratch-catching) LCD screens on little cameras. It has other clever features like the snap on the belt strap can be supported with your finger so you aren't pushing it into the camera to snap it shut (easier to see than to describe in writing). Also, rather than opening up like a clam shell, the case has gussets in the bottom that keep the contents from falling out when opened completely. It makes it slightly more difficult to use, but the security this offers is definitely worth it. When worn on a belt, this will prevent the camera from flopping out onto the ground when you unzip the case.

Also included is a lanyard type strap for around-the-neck if you are into that sort of thing. If you aren't it is easily detachable with a little clip.

The only down-side I can find for this case is that there is only one zipper. This means that you can't close the zipper and have the camera's strap sticking up through the top of the case. Its a minor flaw, really, consider the other benefits of this case and its relatively low price.

Honest reviews on Case Logic QPB-201 EVA Molded Compact Camera Case (Black)

This case is very nice and protecting for your Canon Power Shot Elph 300 HS. The only reason I will return it is the Colour, said to be Light Blue and on the pictures looks to be a very nice turquise Blue, which in reality is GREEN. I will return it tomorrow and have already ordered a Black one instead. The very soft and fluffy inside is very well protecting for the LCD screen and when zipped all around it is a very good protection for your camera, incase you should drop it. My son got one of this in black together with his new Camera (Canon PS Elph 300 hs)in June and he has talked so much positive about it, carrying it for long backpacking trips etc so I decided to get one for myself as well.I only give it 4 Stars due to the misleading Colour, otherwise the quality is Superb!
